Nikisha King (00:21):
Hello, gorgeous,
welcome to NK Production Leading
Her Way podcast, where we seethe human, evolving and
resilient spirit in you.
I'm your host, N nikisha, andwelcome to the final Identity
Series episode.
Today I am going to be wrappingup, I would say, season two.
(00:42):
I am planning to do a summerbreak because I am an
entrepreneur and I am a mom andthe fact that my little ones
have time off of school.
I will love to enjoy them, butI will be back, of course, for
my birthday month in Septemberto help you on your journey.
(01:05):
But what I wanted to do is Ihave the pleasure of showing up
in the world and in showing upin the world, what does that
mean?
That mean gracing, or I shouldsay, being graced with the
presence of entrepreneurs inmany rooms where I do bridal
events or other workshops, whereI get to go, and these amazing
(01:29):
humans who are runningbusinesses and having a life and
all the things look to me forinformation, information on
their way that they see buildingtheir business, the way that
they're growing their business.
I have the pleasure ofentrepreneurs who are starting
out.
If you know what starting outfeels like, it's so scary to
(01:52):
know that you have to invest inbuilding your business when
you're making that profit andthat profit becomes the proof
that you can do the business.
And now you got to reinvest itin your professional development
.
How scary is that.
And for them to trust me is big.
So in this identity series, whatI'm going to focus on is who am
(02:15):
I?
And when I say it it soundslike I'm telling you who I am,
but in reality I'm asking youwho are you?
And I want you to really answerthat.
I want you to take some time topull out that notebook, let's
journal prompt that.
Write that on the top of yourpage.
Five minute timer and write whoam I?
(02:38):
The reason this is important isbecause, with a lot of external
noise, in this podcast we havespoke about containers, we spoke
about social media, we spokeabout being in the world period.
Sometimes we lose ourselfbecause there are a lot of
different values put on us fromthe external.
(03:00):
That is what the identityseries is about, and when we get
lost in our identity, we becomelost in the direction we're
going.
And getting lost is not aproblem, don't get me wrong.
It just extends the time foryou to do what you're here to do
(03:20):
, and sometimes people's timegets so extended that they never
get to fulfill their reasoningof being here and remember to be
here does not need to be big.
The reason you're here iseasily to just show up in my
life and go Nikisha, you shouldchange your business name like
that, and then that's it.
That was your moment for me,and that has happened.
(03:44):
Yes, my new brand name.
It happened because someonetold me and I didn't know them,
but I took heed to them becauseit was already in me.
Right, I was alreadycontemplating changing my name.
They just confirmed it becausethey were serving their purpose.
Get it Now.
Understand that I truly, truly,am grateful for what my life
(04:10):
has brought me to today, basedon who I was.
Every year since I've been onthis earth, every year I showed
up differently.
And when I say that I didn'tknow, I was showing up
differently.
But every year when I learnedsomething, when I had the
opportunity to be taught from acoach, from a group, read a book
, listen to a podcast, when Idid the things that put
(04:34):
nourishment in me and I had anaha moment, I came out better
the next year.
This is life.
This is what I tremendouslyenjoy.
Growing is something thatcreates us to be who we are and
through growing it's by theinformation we choose to put in.
(04:57):
What are you choosing to put in?
To develop who you are, todefine who you are, to get that
clear understanding of who youare.
You are someone who is special.
You are someone who is amazing, intelligent and even when I say
(05:20):
that word, I know inside of youyou think sometimes it's not
true.
But the reason you strugglewith that is because you
honestly think it's not true.
But I'm telling you it is.
The reason I know howintelligent and smart you are is
because your ability to show upand do something is tremendous,
(05:40):
even though you make it feellike it's something small.
It's not.
In working with my clients andin working with my family, we
celebrate the things we've done, big, small.
I try to get rid of those wordsbecause they're not big and
small, they are just is.
(06:01):
So, for instance, when myyoungest, who I love, even comes
up with the idea that theletter F, when you fill in it
like a test, means fantastic, Ilaugh out loud.
Yes, she does.
She says that to me.
Thank God she doesn't bringhome Fs.
I'm grateful we do have anagreement for A's.
(06:21):
She does get paid for her A'sand her B's, so, but she makes
joke of it, about it beingfantastic and I love her for
that and I celebrate that.
When my oldest comes home andshe has gotten something like
this achievement award orsomething where we celebrate
(06:44):
that, we have a good timeputting it up on the wall, we
have a good time remembering theexperience she had, even when
that time has passed.
A lot of us as entrepreneurs donot have the ideology or the
patience to track and measureour growth, and that's one thing
I've learned with my mentor.
(07:06):
I love my mentor.
I'm so grateful that she cameinto my life and I'm grateful I
walked up to her and asked herto be my mentor.
She is the co-founder of PartySleep.
It's a marketing tool for allvenues, event industry.
It's an amazing, amazingplatform.
When I walked up to her andasked her to mentor me, she was,
(07:26):
and I told her what therequirements are and she said
yes, and I don't think a lot ofpeople would even dare do that.
But she has educated me aboutsomething called OKRs.
This is how I fell in love withher.
She was presenting it at one ofour networking events.
Okrs are objectives, keyresults.
They're similar to goals.
They're just a little bit moreintentional and you can track it
(07:50):
.
Key results are number metrics, retract metrics.
It's like KPIs, but not on anindividual level, it's like a
group where we use it.
When she introduced it to me, Itotally fell in love with it and
once I started to use it in mybusiness, with my COO, with my
clients, it started to changethe way I think.
(08:13):
And when I started to look atmeasuring and tracking and doing
the work, the information I wasgathering of how many sales I
had, how many leads, when Ithought I wasn't doing well, I
was doing exceptionally well, making so much and not realizing
it because I never tracked it.
Well, making so much and notrealizing it because I never
(08:35):
tracked it.
Yes, I have QuickBooks.
Yes, I love it, but how many ofus look at our P&Ls and track
it and break it down andunderstand what's happening,
understand the story?
But that's something who I amis developing becoming a lover
of numbers and not numbers andmoney numbers any numbers of
numbers and not numbers andmoney numbers any numbers the
(08:55):
understanding of what it'stranslating and speaking to me
about.
So in doing OKRs, I learned howto measure and track and I kind
of set measurements for my goals.
I know what I have to achieve.
So I'm not just working in ageneral state of mind.
A goal can be general, likesome people say.
I have a goal to make $200,000.
But that goal, what do you haveto do for that goal?
(09:17):
For me, the $200,000 is a keyresult.
It's a metric, it's ameasurable item.
The objective is to make a tonof money right To something that
will fuel my insides, make mego, yes, get ignited and then
work really hard to obtain thatkey result.
That's how objective, keyresults kind of work.
(09:39):
Go, google it and learn more.
But that's my interpretationand that's it.
So in working on who you are,you should learn how to track or
measure your results.
What are you working towards?
What have you achieved?
Add numbers to it.
I've achieved this many ofthose.
(10:00):
I have achieved this many ofthose.
It allows you to see yourprogress.
Today you achieved 200,000.
Tomorrow you achieve 400,000.
How?
What changed?
What did you do?
What was different?
We get so stuck on the numbersand how many people and all the
things, but we forget what wehave to do to get those people
(10:20):
into our world, to help them, not to get them for money, but
to help them, to give them value, to help them succeed as a
coach, as an entrepreneur.
The clients who trust me, whohave worked so hard for that
fuel aka cash, trust me.
You know, when they tap on myshoulders to allow me into their
(10:44):
world, into their business, what I have to do?
I have to wake up, I have tocreate an actual plan and then I
have to implement that planwith them and I love it because
I show them the plan and itkeeps us on course of what we're
going to do to help them getwhat they are looking for.
To be able to do that, it feelslike being an educator.
(11:06):
I am no way, no shape, aneducator.
I love you guys from the bottomof my heart, but I do have to
write a plan, a curriculum plan,an action plan, whatever you
want to call it.
And then, after we have thatactual meeting, I have to write
a progress report.
What came out of that?
What happened?
Did the action go well?
(11:26):
Did we complete a goal?
The progress notes have to bedone and the action plan, and it
takes time, but it's clientwork and the more I do it, the
more I can make it, bettersystemized, and then that's how
I grow my team, because now theycome in, this is the outline,
this is how we do it, and thenthey can continue helping other
(11:48):
people.
Now it's not only me doing it,but more people who are in line
with me, wanting to help otherentrepreneurs on their journey.
Can you imagine?
This is who I am.
Guys, I'm sharing a little bitabout me, but I'm telling you
the love of my clients, thepeople, the people I speak to to
(12:09):
see them in their glory, to seethem when things are not
working out.
I get that because I am them.
There are days I experiencedthat, but the great thing is I
had to do the work to get to theother side.
Now I know what the work I didto get to the other side.
Guess what I can give to themto get to their other side in
(12:30):
their own journey?
Being or learning who you are istruly, truly important.
If you don't have direction, you may not end up anywhere.
You hope to end up.
I love hope.
However, it sometimes robs usof what we can actually do,
(12:57):
because in hope there is noaction.
But if you hope and have actionincluded.
Together, side by side, thereis a possibility of a vision,
the direction, and you movetowards that.
I truly, truly love this wholeprocess.
(13:20):
I love being here adding valueto your world.
I love that you allow me to byshowing up and listening.
There's a little side note ofpeople telling me how calming my
voice is.
And can I be honest with you.
There are moments I think am Iputting you to sleep?
(13:42):
Am I doing something negative?
And then I realize I'm not.
I realize the voice I was giventhe one you hear and the one
where I show up in the world andI help so many that voice is my
gift and I didn't know I hadthis gift until maybe five years
(14:04):
ago when it started to develop.
And my voice is common and Ilove that because if someone can
find peace, tranquility, adecrease of anxiety,
opportunities, possibilities inthis voice, then that's one of
the best gifts in the world andI'm grateful for it and I thank
(14:27):
you for it and I will keep usingit and keep building on it.
So I truly, truly appreciateyou guys for showing up and
enjoying this podcast calledLeading Her Way.
As a woman entrepreneur, as awoman of color.
As a woman who love all humanbeings, I believe in leading in
(14:55):
my way.
There are moments where someonewill tell me I should and
shouldn't, and I'm open to it.
But I know my spirit has theability to discern what's for me
and what's not for me, and Itell my clients that all the
time.
If there's something I sharewith you and it's not for you,
go Nikisha, it's not for me, andI will then go great.
(15:18):
Tell me what you would like todo and I would meet you where
you are.
I don't want my clients to meetme where I'm at.
I want to meet them where theyare.
I want to help them determinewho they are on their journey.
So this is always a great, great moment for me, because
when I go on hiatus, I come backwith a whole load of
(15:42):
information and, trust me, I'mgoing on hiatus to have a great
time with family, but also toshow up 100% in the lives of
others, and in that journey I'mgoing to learn so much from them
as much as they learn from me,because together we are great.
Individually we still are great, but can you imagine how much
(16:02):
more we gain when we're acommunity, a community that
encourages our growth and notstifles it.
So, therefore, I look forwardto seeing you in September and I
look forward to coming backwith a great season of Leading
Her Way podcast.
(16:22):
Have an amazing time with thepeople you love and enjoy, and I
will see you soon.
You, it's a chance that's toogood to pass up, a chance to
work with me one-on-one,practically for free.
(16:44):
Imagine waving a magic wand andsaying goodbye to feeling
completely overwhelmed, anxiousand all those feelings that keep
you stuck from selling yourservices.
You know that feeling where youcan't make decisions.
You're on the hamster wheel.
I know I was there, but what ifI told you I can help you get
rid of that feeling forever?
Not only five minutes, 10minutes, but forever.
(17:07):
Yes, to the point where workingon your newsletter website,
creating content, feels like abreeze.
This week, I only have fourexclusive spots for a one-to-one
opportunity with me.
It's not a webinar, it's not aworkshop.
It's only you and me for 60minutes where I'll teach you my
aha method to get rid of thatoverwhelmed feeling forever.
(17:29):
Listen, don't walk, but runover to focusnakishakingcom it's
in the show notes and grab oneof my limited spots.
It's limited and so many peoplekeep asking for it, so it's
going to be gone in a second.
And remember, don't tell anyoneabout this great opportunity.
It's just between you and me.
