Ever had that sobering thought, "Huh, I thought I wanted that?" That moment when you realize the path you've been walking no longer feels right? Far from being a crisis, this recognition is actually perfect clarity arriving at exactly the right time.

Desires aren't meant to be permanent fixtures in our lives – they're building blocks that serve us for a season, then naturally evolve as we grow. Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Let it Be Easy with Susie Moore.
Have you ever had that sobering, quiet, perhaps confusing
thought Huh, I thought I wantedthat.

(00:22):
Ooh, I thought I wanted that.
I thought I wanted that.
Meaning you're walking down aroad that was very much your
intention once upon a time.
But as you forge ahead, yourealize that the thing that you
want, the thing that you'rechasing, the thing you desire,

(00:44):
it just doesn't fit anymore andit can even provoke this sense
of crisis within us.
We think that there's somethingwrong with us.
We think if we lost ourambition, we think, oh my gosh,
what is going on over here?
Am I being disloyal to myself?
It can feel like a crisis, butit is perhaps, in fact, perfect

(01:08):
clarity.
Think about this the averageperson has, I think it's, seven
careers in a lifetime, right so,working in seven different
fields, seven differentindustries.
Very rarely does someone at 18want to do the same thing at 30,
40, 50, 60, 70.
Desires do have a naturalexpiration date, I can say,

(01:34):
because they are building blocks.
They are not permanent fixturesin our lives.
Just because something excitedyou once or made you feel alive
and energized and just arousedat once once in your past, it
doesn't mean that that is meantto last forever.

(01:55):
You see evolution in all partsof nature, in anyone you observe
their career histories, anyoneyou find interesting.
They've often done a lot ofthings and the dream that
perhaps drove you in your 20smight feel like oh, it's
suffocating you in your 30s orkeeping you caged in your 40s,

(02:16):
and that's okay.
Sometimes our ego can rear uphere and say I have to follow
through, I have to arrive atthis destination that I
committed to once.
Or maybe you're chasing thething because it looks really
impressive on LinkedIn, or allyour mom friends have done it,
or all your college friendsthink it's a really cool idea.

(02:39):
Hmm, if that's the case, all Ican say is, when you're quiet
and you take five deep breaths, does that thing that you want,
the thing that you thought youwanted?
Does it feel like you now?
Does it leave you with afeeling of being fulfilled?

(03:02):
There's something I want toimpart here that is important,
because I think that so often wemake decisions based on what we
consider a sunk cost, meaningoh, but I've invested in this
education, so I have to work inthis field, or I've invested
time and energy in this part ofmy life, so I have to just keep

(03:22):
going, or I've invested so manyyears into this relationship.
Sunk costs are not sunk.
What do I mean by that?
Maybe it's an education, or atitle, or years, years and time
invested.
Nothing is wasted.

(03:47):
You are taking experience, youare taking what you've learned,
you're taking what yourexperiences have brought you the
strength, the clarity, thewisdom and you are carrying that
into your future.
These have compounded theseskills.
They are transferable in waysthat we can't even understand in

(04:11):
the moment.
But if the book the Alchemistthe incredible book the
Alchemist has taught us anythingby Paolo Coelho, the
bestselling book, it's that allthings are one.
Sometimes we think that life isseparate and doing one thing
over here doesn't carry to onething over there.
It does who you are, the theenriched version of you that's

(04:34):
gone on any journey that needs adetour.
Now you are richer and betteroff, based on all of those
so-called wasted experiencesthat may be in your history.
Quitting something or going in anew direction doesn't mean that
you were ever wrong.
It means that you're brave, you're able to make this shift,

(04:59):
you're able to pivot, based onthe strength of the foundation
you have already created.
It's okay to say huh, I thoughtI wanted that it turns out, I
want let me know, fill in theblank gme at suzymore on

(05:23):
Instagram.
Let me know, fill in the blankgme at suzymore on Instagram.
Until tomorrow, my friends, somuch love and ease.
