SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Welcome to Let It Be
Easy with Susie Moore.
We live in the age of, let'ssay, overexposure, don't we?
We see everyone sharingeverything.
We see these viral moments ofpeople who are crying, who are
(00:20):
burying their souls, who aresaying funny things, who are
oversharing.
Like this is the culture today, right?
Heading into 2026, this is thisis our reality.
And I know that there's a lot ofconversation around that, around
mental health, what's uh what'sa good boundary?
Should there be boundaries inAustralia?
They've banned social media foranyone who isn't 16.
(00:43):
I mean, there is so much talkabout how being slightly
overexposed, frankly, has itsdangers.
And today I want to talk aboutthe flip side of that, actually,
being underexposed.
And I don't mean forentrepreneurs, I don't mean
visibility.
This isn't a conversation aroundmaking sure that people can hear
you and connect with you andwork with you.
(01:04):
No, that's something else.
This is about beingunderexposed, perhaps as a human
being.
Now, what do I mean by that?
I've observed and I've gotteninto this myself, that I can see
the same people, go to the sameworkout classes, order the same
(01:25):
Uber Eats order, uh, go to thesame beach club, work on the
same projects or very similarprojects year after year.
Even vacation in the same spots.
Now there's nothing wrong withthat.
It's wonderful to have yourroutines and to know what you
love and to spend time in placesand with the people that you
(01:47):
love.
But might you be engineering asmaller life than you even
realize because there is so muchon repeat.
It reminds me of Robin Sharmawhen he was on the podcast.
He says, you know, uh, don'tspend the same year every year
for 75 in a row and call it alife.
(02:08):
And this doesn't mean, you know, throw your hands up in the air
and have a completely wild anddifferent year.
No.
But what about even driving adifferent way to work?
If you always have Italian onThursday nights, why not try
something completely different?
Try a new restaurant in yourarea.
The next time you're invited tosomething that you normally say
no to, why not just go?
(02:28):
So, for example, there are somany cool things in Miami that
are always going on, and I justI never really go.
I'm like, no, I only want to seemy couple of friends.
I don't have a lot of friends,guys.
I have a very select, smallgroup, which I love.
And I'm also aware that meetingnew people isn't something that
I've done that often.
I haven't done that.
I I've made a couple of newfriends this year, which have
(02:49):
been a complete lovely joy andsurprise.
And that's pretty new for me, Iwill say.
So what about you?
In what area might you beunderexposed?
Instead of your regular ski tripor your regular beach vacation,
is there somewhere else you wantto go this year?
Is there a new industry you'dlike to learn about?
Is there a skill?
(03:10):
When we're constantly exposed tonew things, it's also proven
that novelty, meaning newthings, adds so much joy to our
life.
The research is very clear onthis.
Novelty matters, but it's not apriority, because it doesn't
feel serious.
Right?
Work, hustle, stress, they feelvery serious and important, but
novelty feels like that's forkids, right?
(03:31):
That's Santa.
That's what that's what theyoung ones need.
Not so, my friends.
Not so.
It matters for us too.
So where might you be a littleunderexposed?
Maybe you even just only readself-help books and it's time to
pick up a good old romancenovel.
Or maybe you always watch thenews in the morning, why not
(03:53):
switch it up to listening to apodcast or listening to some
classical Mozart?
If you always, I mean it can beeven silly things, like if you
always wash your hair on aSunday night, why not wash it a
little more and have some morefab hair days, get some new
products, just do somethingdifferent.
The only payoff is that itbrings you some joy.
(04:15):
It brings some whimsy, it bringssome novelty into your life,
making you more conscious andawake, allowing you to
experience yourself fullypresent once again, which is
something that we can lose whenwe only follow the routines.
Hit me up on Instagram, let meknow what you're gonna switch
up.
