SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Welcome to Let It Be
Easy with Susie Moore.
Do you ever wonder if you'reholding back?
If there's a version of you thatif she were completely
unleashed, so to speak, you'd bedoing more things, more silly
(00:22):
things, more playful things, things that don't make sense
just because you have a J-O-B oryou go to work and it's all very
serious and we have to be sogrown up and we have to act
mature.
My friends, can I tell yousomething that happened to me?
Christmas Day, my friend fromEngland was in Miami.
It was so wonderful.
We got to see each other forbreakfast.
(00:43):
Okay.
So Christmas Day, I'm like, oh,I'll wear like, you know, my
nice little elegant tweed skirtand this little white sweater
that I have.
Very me, very uh, I have a lotof just the same I swear dresses
with gold buttons from Rent theRunway that I just wear repeat,
repeat, repeat, specifically inwhite and navy.
So I dressed in the way that Ijust usually dress.
(01:04):
And then we get to therestaurant, right?
It's all very exciting Christmasmorning.
And my friend and her husbandcome in in Grinch onsies.
Grinch.
You know the Grinch?
And like it had a hood thatlooked like a Santa hat with
sequins.
Wild, fabulous, hilarious.
They elevated the the atmospherein the restaurant so much.
(01:28):
They brought so much joy.
This was the Christmas magic.
This was the Christmas spirit.
And these are adults, okay, sothey're not, you know,
five-year-olds in their onesies.
They're adults at a nicerestaurant at breakfast in their
Grinch onesies.
Do you know what?
Not only did we have the mostfantastic time, I could have
just stayed there for hours.
(01:48):
But I remember thinking tomyself, in that moment and as
soon as we left, I think I'mmore inhibited than I realize.
I wouldn't wear a Grinch onesie.
I'm not saying that um it'snecessarily the perfect style
for me, but I had big um shinyChristmas earrings, Christmas
tree earrings that I just boughton Amazon because I thought they
looked cute.
And I'm like, oh, they're a bitmuch, they're a bit silly.
(02:10):
One time I rented this pair ofyellow pants.
My husband joked that I was, Ilooked like I was gonna jump out
of a parachute.
And then it made me laugh, butthen it kind of made me
self-conscious.
And you know, I didn't wearthem, they were just bright.
And then later that day, I wentto an incredible Christmas
lunch.
Oh my gosh, it was wonderful.
And there was a couple there whowere wearing kind of matching
outfits, like a leopard print, but a bit more red.
(02:34):
And once again, I thought, I'minhibited.
I I would say I'm quiteconservative.
And look, I like how I dress.
I don't actually even put toomuch thought into it.
I went the wrong way and that'sit.
But I was curious about thisability almost, this abandon to
just be so free and to show upas you.
And I talk about this a lot inmy work on the podcast about
(02:57):
being yourself, meaning sayingwhat you mean and acting in a
way that's aligned with who youreally are and what you want.
And what if that could apply tothings that maybe aren't as
serious too?
So, what it is that we say, howwe spend our time, food that we
order.
I swear I'm a toddler.
I love to order off the kids'menu.
I love kids' food.
But sometimes I think, oh, Ishould just have something
(03:19):
that's a bit more grown up, or Ishould just, you know, I'm with
the nice people and I should uhbe having like a nice salad like
they are, or I should probablystop after two drinks when I'm
like, oh, I really want another.
My friends, seeing these peopleon Christmas Day was such a uh a
gift for me.
It was something that kind of uhI was curious about and I'm
(03:40):
leaning in more, my friends.
This is one of the things thatI'm leaning into in 2026,
thinking, if I were utterlyfree, what would I do?
Would I do a cartwheel on thebeach?
Right?
Last night we were with ourfriends who have gorgeous
children and they were doingcartwheels on the beach or on
the grass.
And I was like, I I mean, I waswearing a dress, I couldn't, but
I was like, I want to do that.
Why wouldn't I?
(04:00):
Just because I'm nearly 42, Ican't do a cartwheel on the
beach.
No! This is my thinking.
This is some programming that iswonky.
And, you know, the work ofself-help is constantly always
learning, right?
Learning what it is aboutyourself, getting to know
yourself more intimately.
This is the only thing reallyworth doing in your lifetime.
So I got the gift of freedom, people who are just unavashedly
(04:23):
themselves in terms of theiroutfits and their sense of
childlikeness and being just sooh unapologetically themselves.
I am moving forward with this asencouragement, as a secret,
maybe even permission slip.
Thank you, friends.
And I want to be having evenmore fun in the new year.
Well, what about you, myfriends?
