Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Let it Be Easy with Susie Moore.
So I got an email in my inboxfrom my incredible friend, ash
AmbergΓ©, and I really, reallyrecommend you tune into our

(00:21):
podcast interview.
It was last year.
Her name is Ash A-S-H.
AmbergΓ©, a-m-b-i-r-g-e.
She's an incredible writer.
She's hilarious.
I love her points of view.
She's the author of the MiddleFinger Project, and when I saw
her email in my inbox I thoughtI've just got to read this out

(00:42):
to my pod listeners because itis so good.
This is what she has to share.
My friends, I'm going to readit out to you today.
Every time you flake on yourself, your brain takes notes.
Advice for when your ambitionis strong, but your follow

(01:02):
through is asleep.
Advice for when your ambitionis strong, but your follow
through is asleep.
Do you ever make a promise toyourself and then break it over
and over and over and over again?
There's nothing worse exceptmaybe finding sun-dried tomatoes
in your grilled cheese.
She says here why the namesounds so good, but they're so
bad.

(01:22):
I agree with you there, ash.
And the most biggest, ugliest, ickiest, most vile part about it
is every time you break apromise to yourself, you're also
teaching yourself a lesson youcannot be trusted.
Now, I like trusting myself.
I found it to be an imperativepart of living a life I give a

(01:44):
shit about.
If you can't trust yourself, what do you have?
A limp-spined, paralyzed,pathetic mockery of a life.
Oh, ash, I love you.
It'd be like having to ask yourhusband what he thinks about
everything, because you have noidea.
Imagine just sitting there likea sad, quiet, withdrawn, washed
up, deflated cartoon version ofyourself, wishing you had

(02:06):
something to care about.
Gosh, she doesn't hold back, does she?
Friends?
The way to start caring aboutthings is by caring about
yourself, and the way to startcaring about yourself is by
respecting what you actuallywant.
How many times have you thoughtthat you wish you could do X,
wish you could try Y, but don't,because it's easier to convince

(02:30):
yourself that you areunreliable than it is to
convince yourself that you wouldbe great.
It's a sneaky lack ofself-respect.
And so, over the years, I foundthat the best way for me to
wrangle that little a hole, thatsneaky lack of self-respect
that wants to elbow its way infrom time to time, is by
relentlessly, mercilessly,against all, odds-lessly,

(02:56):
keeping my promises to myself, because when you keep your
promises to yourself, you growyour confidence, and when you
grow your confidence, you keepdoing big things.
On the other hand, when youbreak a million little promises
to yourself, these cracks letthe doubts in.

(03:19):
They get wider and wider andwider until they've busted a
hole in your psyche and theneven small things feel like big
things and the next thing youknow your life is shrunk to the
size of a piece of belly buttonlint under a microscope.
Living small is the directresult of not trusting that you
can live big.
So, my friends, what can youpromise yourself the second half

(03:45):
of this year that you will holdyourself to?
Self-confidence is driven byself-trust.
Dm me at suzymore on Instagramand let me know one promise you
are going to keep to the mostimportant person, which is you.

(04:09):
Until tomorrow, my friends, somuch love and ease.
