The profound wisdom of Carl Jung, as shared through Wayne Dyer's teachings, offers us a startling glimpse into true enlightenment. This episode unpacks a deceptively simple story with an unexpected conclusion that might just change how you view personal freedom.

What would a truly enlightened person do when confronted with someone who doesn't "fit in" at a formal gathering? When I first heard Jung's answer—"he wouldn't notice"—it stopped me in my tracks. These three words contain a universe of wisdom about transcending judgment and finding authentic inner freedom.

We live in a world obsessed with appearances, expectations, and conformity. Our mental bandwidth gets consumed by worries about fitting in and meeting others' standards. But what if true enlightenment means being so deeply at peace with yourself that you no longer register these superficial concerns? What if real freedom comes from understanding that "no one is out of place" and everything is exactly as it should be?

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Let it Be Easy with Susie Moore Story time
today.
I love this story.
I heard it years ago from DrWayne Dyer, who was telling this
story about Carl Jung, who washis teacher at one point and I

(00:23):
just thought, oof, this is good.
Apparently, wayne Dyer used toask this question to his
students when he was auniversity professor and the
answers were all always reallyyou know good and wildly
different, but I thought thecorrect answer was just like pow
, it was just incredible.
So I'm gonna to gosh I hope I'mnot going to mess it up because

(00:48):
I'm telling this story frommemory, but you will get the
gist and you will get the moralof it today.
Okay, so Wayne Dyer used to talkabout this story that Carl Jung
used to share, and he wouldtalk about a gathering.
Right, picture this, picturethis there is a very elegant,

(01:09):
formal, high-end gathering whichis hosted by somebody who is
enlightened.
Okay, so, enlightenment mightbe the greatest stage sorry, the
greatest stage for us to reachin our lives.
You know, enlightenment beingthis deep personal

(01:29):
transformation where we're notliving in fear, we're living in
love, we're living inconsciousness, we're living in
presence, and the story goeslike this.
So there is a very enlightenedperson who is hosting this event
.
There's a gathering at theirhome and everyone's showing up
dressed as you'd expect, right,in formal, lovely clothes

(01:53):
matching the occasion.
And during the party, a manarrived who was noticeably this
was very, very clear noticeablyunderdressed.
Maybe it was just super casual,I think from the story that
Wayne Dyer used to tell it waskind of shabby, as if they've

(02:14):
just finished a shift, finisheda shift working outside, maybe
working with their hands.
So it's not glamorous, right?
It's not like you know.
So it's not glamorous, right?
It's not like you know.
This clean press shirt andshiny shoes and cologne, it is

(02:35):
showing up to this big formalevent looking, let's say, shabby
.
The question that was posed tothe students in the room was
this what would the host do?
Okay, in that situation, right,so he's got all these people
here, this very lovely, elegantevent, formal, the attire
matches the moment and thisperson arrives who was invited,

(02:56):
but they are dressed completelyout of sync with everybody else.
What would an enlightened hostdo in that moment?
Now, some of the answers arealong these lines oh, you know,
they'd be nice about it, theywouldn't say anything, they
wouldn't draw attention.
I heard someone else say, oh,you know, they would offer maybe

(03:19):
a suit.
They'd say, oh, how lovely thatyou're here.
If you'd like to borrow XYZ,just come to this room.
And all of these answers arenice, right, they're decent,
they're cool, they seemreasonable.
But what Carl Jung says, whatWayne Dyer used to love to say
and repeat it, just stops you inyour tracks.
What would an enlightened hostdo in this situation?

(03:46):
Enlightened host do in thissituation?
He wouldn't notice.
Oh, it makes me want to cry.
He wouldn't notice.
What does that tell you?
The host, this man who shows upshabbily?
They are so inwardly free, theyare not concerned with the

(04:13):
expectation of what to wear.
It doesn't even register thatsomeone isn't dressed formally
or looks a little different.
To me, this story is about realenlightenment, right, going
through the world in that way, real self-actualization, right.
It's not about living accordingto what she thinks or what he
thinks, or the judgments, thenorms, the opinions, the

(04:35):
expectations.
It's about inner freedom.
It's about really being youauthentically, you not fitting
in, not seeking approval, notshowing up any way other than
how you are right, coming as youare.
And it's really abouttranscending so much of the

(04:58):
nonsense, isn't it?
Because, really, when you feelvery peaceful, when you are good
with you, when you have yourown steadiness, you don't notice
the egoic things that maybeused to really hold you down or
used to fill up a lot of brainspace.
An enlightened person knowsthat no one is out of place,

(05:22):
knows that everything is as itshould be, and they're not
concerned about designer itemsor even any status quo.
I hope you love this story asmuch as I do.
Until tomorrow, my friends.
So much love and ease.
