Ever feel stuck in your own head, unable to see the obvious next step in your life? Today, I share a brilliantly simple yet powerful perspective shift to cut through the confusion: imagine your life as a movie where you're the main character, and ask yourself what the audience would be shouting at you to do.

This thought experiment uses disassociation to help you step outside yourself and gain clarity on the actions you might be avoiding. Would viewers be urging you to "stop doubting yourself," "put down your phone and connect with your loved ones," or perhaps "book that ticket" to the destination you've been dreaming about? When we position ourselves as the protagonist viewed through others' eyes, we access the same compassionate wisdom we readily offer to characters in stories.

And, as a special bonus, I want to give you FREE access to my signature course, Slay Your Year (usually $997)! All you have to do is:

  • Leave a review of this podcast.
  • Email a screenshot of your review to info@susie-moore.com

Simple as that!

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Let it Be Easy with Susie Moore.
I had a really good questionthe other day and I was like oh,
got to sit down and record thisfor the Let it Be Easy
listeners because it is.
Do you say, are you ready?

(00:22):
I haven't heard this before andI saw it in an Instagram post
and I was like this is good.
I think we're actually going todo this in an upcoming
Self-Coaching Society class.
But here is the question okay,if your life were a movie and
you are the main character, butyou are observing yourself on

(00:42):
the screen in a cinema with lotsof other people, if you're the
main character in this movie, your movie, what would the
audience be yelling at you to do?
I love this because this iswhat we call in coaching
disassociation right, we takeourselves out of the main

(01:03):
picture.
We see it as if it's outside ofus.
What would the audience beyelling at you?
You're the main character inthe movie, you're the main
character in the story.
What would they be saying?
Think about it.
Would they say, get over it,stop doubting yourself, take the
action, come on.
Would they say, put your phonedown, connect with your husband

(01:24):
or wife.
They're begging for yourattention.
Would they say, oh my gosh, you've already won.
Own it, own your magic.
Would it say, get up, sign upfor that thing you've been
wanting to do.
Would it say, book the ticket.
Book the ticket to France, bookthe ticket to Australia, book

(01:45):
the ticket to Thailand.
Would it say, stop overthinkingit.
Would it say tell that personyou love them.
What would the audience beyelling at you?
Maybe they'd be yelling morethan one thing, but I'm guessing
there's probably one piece ofinformation, one act, one
thought, upgrade, one shift thatif people were looking at you

(02:10):
through this lens, they would beurging you to do it.
And what's interesting is thisis what I love about stories,
whether it's in books or movies, theater, whatever it is, we
root for the main character.
Right, we're rooting for you.
What do people who are rootingfor you want you to do?

(02:31):
To me, it always feels quiteclear.
It's always going to be animmediate, decisive action.
It's going to be showing up inmore integrity, more being
myself, saying yes to the thingsI care about.
You know, know, when you watch astory or you see a story, read
a story, observe it in the formof a movie or television, and
you know that the character isgoing against themselves,

(02:54):
they're betraying themselves, going along with the flock,
they're doing what their parentswant, they're doing what
society wants.
And there is that day, thatmoment, when they are willing to
be brave, where they stand upfor themselves, they stand up
for their values.
They choose the road lesstraveled.
They do the thing that they'vebeen waiting to do, even if it

(03:15):
upsets others, even if itruffles some feathers.
We're like, yes, do it.
Do you?
My friends?
What a good question.
And also ask the people in yourlife.
Right, tell the people in yourlife about this episode.
Please share it with a coupleof friends.
They will thank you for it.

(03:36):
Today's specifically, whatwould your audience be yelling
at you?
Ask your husband, ask your kids, ask your best friends.
It's funny how we simply tendto just know instantly.
And then the second follow-upquestion would be what are you

(03:56):
waiting for, my friends?
You know this.
I am rooting for you.
Until tomorrow, my friends, somuch love and ease.
Hey, friend, I've got somethingreally cool for you.
