If your gratitude practice feels like a checklist, this conversation offers a reset. We dig into why generic thank yous fall flat and how specific appreciation can revive the exact areas of life you’ve been avoiding—whether that’s a tense relationship, a stalled project, or money stress. Instead of chasing perfect circumstances, we slow down, name details that actually matter, and let the feeling land long enough to shift how we think and act.

And, as a special bonus, I want to give you FREE access to my signature course, Slay Your Year (usually $997)! All you have to do is:

  • Leave a review of this podcast.
  • Email a screenshot of your review to info@susie-moore.com

Simple as that!

SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Welcome to Let It Be Easy with Susie Moore.
Right now in my book club, I'mpart of a book club based in the
UK, it's online.
We're doing the book The Magicby Rhonda Byrne.
Now, this is a very old book.

(00:20):
I read it in Germany years ago,but in this book club, we do it
every January for a couple ofreasons.
Number one, what a great way tostart the year.
Why not?
And secondly, we can never getthe principles down enough, the
basics, the most importantpieces of personal development.

(00:42):
And the basis of this book isgratitude.
So think about this for amoment.
This is obvious but easilyoverlooked.
It's very easy for us to be in agratitude rut.
Maybe you're someone who writesgratitude lists, who focuses on
appreciation, who likes to dwellon the things that are going

(01:04):
right.
And even if that's you, becauseI know that that's me too, we
can go, yeah, my health, mymarriage, my home, my this, my
that, my business, my team.
We can list all the things.
But it doesn't actuallynecessarily land within us.
We say the words, maybe werepeat the affirmations, but we

(01:25):
don't have that feeling, thatelevated, high vibe feeling that
gratitude and appreciation aresupposed to give us.
And here is the most importanttakeaway that I've had this
month so far.
What we are grateful for doesappreciate.
It does expand, especially whenwe slow down and really think

(01:47):
about it.
So, for example, if you feelappreciation for your work,
don't just say that.
Say the people, say the workitself.
Maybe you get to work from home, maybe you get to use your
creative talents, maybe you havea really great laughter every
every day with your coworkers.
Whatever it is, don't just stopthere.

(02:08):
Break it out.
Dwell on it.
Expand.
This is worth your time.
But my friends, what my biggesttakeaway has been is this.
What we don't say thank you forcannot improve.
And I've I am this girl, maybeyou are this person too.
We like to go, yeah, yeah, yeah, this is good, this is good, this

(02:31):
is good.
I'm grateful, I'm grateful, I'mgrateful.
But over here, I'm not sograteful.
So this is areas, this is thisisn't a place where I need to
work.
And we don't give thanks.
Maybe you love your work, money's in a great um, money's
in a great spot for you thisyear.
You've invested well, you'vesaved well, maybe your health is
solid, but your marriage or yourrelationship, you don't

(02:53):
appreciate it.
Maybe you take it for granted, maybe you focus on what you
don't love, maybe you focus onwhat's absent.
My friends, my challenge for youtoday is to show appreciation,
even if it's hard, even if youhave to strain to do it, even if
you need to take a moment and apencil and a piece of paper and

(03:13):
really think on it.
The area in your life that needsthe most growth, that needs the
most love, that could reallyhave some water, can you give it
some appreciation today?
So just say it's yourrelationship, and maybe your
communication isn't wonderful, but your spouse is reliable, or
they're a solid parent, or theyare a good, steady provider.

(03:36):
Can you focus on the positiveaspects?
You may have heard thisexpression.
What we appreciate appreciates.
And we can see that maybe in theareas of our life where we're
flourishing, where we'rethriving.
Friendships are great, careersgreat, uh, investing is great,
oh, but marriage, oh no, no, hehas to change, she has to
change, this isn't working, thisisn't what I want.

(03:59):
What if we can appreciate, evenif it takes work, even if it
requires our pause, even if wehave to really stretch to do it?
This, my friend, might be thearea where you most require
gratitude.
And if it's been the same oldfor months, for weeks, for
years, even in some cases, maybemaybe it's because the lack of

(04:22):
gratitude, the lack ofappreciation you feel in this
life area is all that's missing.
Your focus and attention andappreciation are powerful.
Don't just give them to thestuff that's working well.
What if you redirect your focusto where you perhaps need it,
need it the most, the areas thatare overlooked and neglected

(04:45):
with your appreciation.
Until tomorrow, my friends.
So much love and ease.
