SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Welcome to Let It Be
Easy with Susie Moore.
I have something for you todayfrom Marcus Aurelius'
Meditations written over 2,000years ago, my friends.
If you have the bookMeditations, it's wonderful.
(00:22):
And the passage that I'm goingto read to you is on page 112.
Okay, my friends, this is a listof items that Aurelius put
together as his wisdom.
And there is so much here.
Maybe I will dive into more overthe coming days and weeks.
(00:44):
But this is what I wanted toread to you today as you explore
this hopefully lovely peacefultime of the year.
You can discard most of the junkthat clutters your mind, things
that only exist there and clearout space for yourself by
comprehending the scale of theworld, by contemplating the
(01:08):
infinite time, by thinking ofthe speed with which things
change, each part of everything, the narrow space between our
birth and death, the infinitetime before, and the equally
unbounded time that follows.
To me, this is so soothing.
(01:30):
Think about the junk that existsin your mind that just pales in
insignificance, looks ridiculouscompared to the the scale of the
world, infinite time, our verylimited time here on planet
Earth, the speed with whichthings change, the unbounded
(01:51):
time that will follow once wecease to exist.
My friends, I've often jokedthat, you know, I might be known
as a life coach, but I swear I'ma perspective coach.
I just bring it straight back tothe reality of who we are, why
we're here, how long it lasts, and what really matters.
Aurelia says in another part ofmeditations, whatever it is that
(02:14):
you're doing today, do you feardeath because you won't be able
to keep doing this?
Meaning whatever it is thatyou're doing.
It gets very clear when we startthinking about the job that we
have, the people we spend timewith, what we actually fill our
hours with the day to day.
(02:34):
It doesn't have to be impressiveby anybody else's standards.
It doesn't have to be worthy inthe opinion of anybody else.
But is it worthwhile andimportant and of value to you?
Whenever I feel a bit down or ina low mood or low energy, I love
(02:55):
to recall the passing nature oftime, the scale of the universe
as Aurelius tells us to do, andmy small part in all of this.
And it just soothes me.
And it reminds me to be myself,to approach my life as
fearlessly as I can, and not totake it all too seriously.
(03:20):
Until tomorrow, my friends.
So much love and ease.
