Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Let it Be Easy with Susie Moore.
Have you ever noticed thatevery situation in life has an
upside and a downside?
Some people call this theshadow, or just the disadvantage
, of really any situation orchoice that you have to make,

(00:22):
and I find this reallyinteresting choice that you have
to make, and I find this reallyinteresting.
I learned from someone yearsago that it's great to write an
upside downside list, especiallyif you're not sure about moving
into a new situation or ifyou're not sure about maybe
wanting to give something up inyour life or go in a new
direction.
But what I want to talk abouttoday is the fact that the

(00:43):
upside downside is going to betrue in any situation, but I
think that we get ourselves intoa bit of a kerfuffle when we
think there should be nodownside.
Maybe things are going reallywell in certain life areas, but
we focus on the downside and wecalculate in our minds that

(01:03):
things aren't as good as theyactually are.
Okay, so what are some exampleshere?
Maybe you've gotten out of arelationship, and so the upside
of that would be freedom.
Right, it's really going to beall about you, at least for a
while, how you want to spend aday how you want to spend a
weekend, not having to check inwith anybody.

(01:25):
You might say yes to freedom, but you also might experience
some loneliness.
I know this is true too forpeople who decide to leave jobs
and go into their own full-timebusinesses.
They might not have employeesyet or teammates, so they might
say yes to freedom from maybe anine to five and the structure
of that, but you also might feellonely, perhaps at home or

(01:51):
working from your co-workingspace or that cafe, or maybe if
there's a promotion that you'vebeen working towards or some new
big business goal.
On your path to getting there, you are much busier.
You have a lot more going on,your weekends are full, so you
might be welcoming more in termsof abundance or influence.

(02:14):
But yeah, there's going to beperhaps a bit more stress.
Maybe it's goodbye weekends.
Maybe it's goodbye 6pm finishtime.
Even you know marriage has acost to it, right?
Of course, it's wonderful to bein a partnership if that works
for you, but there has to besome compromise sometimes.
Sometimes there are growthpains.

(02:35):
You have to allow yourself tobe vulnerable and to be seen by
another person.
The reality is, every situationin life has upside, downside.
I once heard the celebrity saylook, you know, being famous and
having this great career wasthe goal, but they've completely
lost their privacy as a result.
So the question is is theupside worth it, and are you

(02:59):
paying attention enough to theupside?
If it's not, then you know whatto do.
Something needs to change.
But if the upside is worth it,what can you do about that
downside?
Can you ignore it?
Can you get some help with itor some support?
Can you look at it a differentway, through a different lens?

(03:21):
It is a horrible shame to gothroughout life focusing on the
downside, ignoring the beautifulupside that you're receiving
day after day, focusing on whatyou don't like about it versus
what's going right with it.
And also, my friends, it can betricky to acknowledge only the

(03:44):
upside, perhaps pay zeroattention to the downside,
knowing that downsides are alsoa blessing in their own way.
And you're also allowed to askfor help.

(04:17):
Until tomorrow, my friends, somuch love and ease free.
That'll help you coach yourselfto a better life in just six
days.
These are amazing.
If you feel stuck, if you everbattle self-doubt, if you feel
restless, if you find goalsetting challenging, these
prompts are gems in a sea ofgeneric advice.
