Have you ever found yourself scrolling through social media, feeling that familiar pang of exclusion as you see others gathering without you? That sensation of being overlooked while everyone else seems to be thriving? This powerful episode offers a refreshingly simple solution to transform FOMO into momentum.

Drawing inspiration from my friend Candace Nelson's newsletter, I share a game-changing perspective: "Stop waiting for the invitation, send one." When a teenager was struggling with feelings of isolation after seeing classmates hanging out without her, her therapist offered this straightforward advice: "Throw your own party." This isn't just advice for teenagers—it's a philosophy for creating the life you want instead of waiting for it to happen to you.

And, as a special bonus, I want to give you FREE access to my signature course, Slay Your Year (usually $997)! All you have to do is:

all sometimes Scrolling pastparties?
She was invited to watchingclassmates hang out without her,
each swipe, adding to a growingsense of isolation.
The advice from her therapist Ilove that this teenage girl has
a therapist.
The advice from her therapistwas straightforward Throw your

(01:30):
own party.
Oh, yes, simple, yes, gamechanging Absolutely, because
this isn't just about highschool drama.
It's about how we show up inlife.
Why sit there watching everyoneelse's highlight reel when you
could be creating your own?
Stop waiting for the invitation, send one.

You know we used to have theseincredible events in New York

(02:13):
called pitch please mediagathering events, and I created
that because I wanted to go toone.
I wanted to hang out all daywith media media uh, producers
and editors and incredibleentrepreneurs and learn from
everybody.
I wanted to show up, learnabout what was trending, make
myself even more media friendlyand successful as it pertains to

(02:34):
the media.
So, instead of waiting to be aspeaker or waiting to be chosen,
or hoping I'd get invited tosome media networking parties,
which I always thought reallyweren't that media focused I
always thought this isn't reallyfull of media pros I created it
and I'm so thrilled I did.

(02:54):
Those events were amazing.
We did them for six years Ithink five or six years and we
loved them and they wereeverything that I wanted to be
invited to Exclusive, elegant, full of the right people, not
peripheral people in the media, real decision makers, real
producers, real editors, andthrowing these events with

(03:15):
amazing food and people.
It was like, really, you knowwhat the statement is today.
I wasn't waiting for theinvitation.
I was sending the invitation tomy community.
So where can this be true of youtoday?
Do you need to get the girlsout for sushi?
Do you need to book the trip?
Do you need to stop thinkingabout it and finally host a live

(03:39):
class?
Do you need to just putsomething out there and host
something, whether it's online, offline, indoors, outdoors,
whatever it is, just to get somemomentum?
I've noticed in life, most of usare waiting around, just hoping
that something will happenright, taking life as it comes,
but when we do that, not a lotcomes right, not a lot happens.

(04:00):
We want to take the initiative, set it up, throw the party,
invite the person for coffee, take the action.
Those of us who have a biastoward action, who take the
initiative in friendships, whotake the initiative when it
comes to getting together, wehave completely different lives.
This is how we self-direct interms of getting the outcomes
