What will people remember about you when you're gone? Not your follower count, your business success, or material achievements – but rather, how you showed up in their lives.

Death might seem like a heavy topic, but reflecting on our mortality can be surprisingly clarifying. In this heartfelt episode, I share my recent contemplations about funeral stories and what they reveal about a life well-lived. When we eulogize someone, we don't focus on their professional accomplishments but instead celebrate their kindness, reliability, and how they made others feel. This perspective offers a powerful lens through which to examine our current priorities and daily choices.

And, as a special FREE bonus, I want to give you my "6 Journal Prompts To Coach Yourself To A Better Life In 6 Days!"

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Let it Be Easy with Susie Moore.
Lately I've been thinking aboutfuneral stories.
I don't know why, don't ask mewhy, but in recent weeks, when
I've seen kind actions takeplace or someone be extremely

(00:24):
generous in a way that is, Isuppose, unexpected, I've been
thinking about.
You know, what is it that wesay at the end of someone's life
?
What is it that we reflect upon?
You know, it's interesting.
My husband, who celebrated twoyears alcohol-free recently, is

(00:45):
so, so into golf lately.
He is a member of this golfplace.
He's been playing whenever hecan.
He's going on a golf trip thisweekend and his dad is also a
huge golfer and he wanted tosurprise his dad and connect
with him in California Don't askme the name of the course, I
know nothing about this sportwhatsoever and I was so

(01:08):
encouraging of it.
His dad lives in Australia, kind of you know.
Meeting in California is almosthalfway and I said, yes, do it,
book it like.
Have this experience with yourdad, because at the end of it
all which is coming for all ofus, this will be something that
you will always be proud of,right.
This is for all of us.
This will be something that youwill always be proud of, right,
this is.
We speak a lot in self-coachingsociety about regret-proofing

(01:30):
your life, how important that is.
And then I was thinking aboutfuneral stories in general and
stories that we hear.
You know, it's reallyinteresting.
I find that we discuss how lifeis shorter than we expect,
right?
You hear things like feels justlike yesterday, you know, we

(01:50):
were celebrating their weddinganniversary or celebrating their
birthday, or celebrating X Y Ztogether.
Time disappears faster than werealize and we always think, oh,
there'll be another year, there'll be another season,
there'll be another summer.
What can we seize now?
Because I think this fleetingpassing of time is something

(02:12):
that we all know, but we don'tlive that way.
We don't make consciousdecisions based on our temporary
time here on earth.
I think it goes without saying, too, that we always remember
someone's kindness, their love, their steadiness, right?

(02:32):
We don't think, oh well, youknow, she sold X amount of books
or shared X amount of followers, or her podcast was in the top
three.
I mean, look, those things arewonderful.
Nothing, nothing wrong withthat.
But is that what we reflect on?
Is that what counts at the endof, at the end of a life?
I find it isn't.
It's it's things that we saylike you know, she always made

(02:57):
me laugh when I was down.
Or he never missed his son'sgame, ever missed his son's game
.
Or you know what, she wasalways there for her friends.
Or you know, he was the onefriend who helped me move in a
really hard time in my life.
He was the person who showed upfor me.
It makes me think how am Ispending my time?

(03:18):
Am I a good friend?
Am I there for others?
What are the things that Ialways show up for?
What will people be able to sayabout me?
They won't be speaking about myambition or my achievements,
I'm pretty certain of that.
So what will they be saying?
I hope I'm there for others.
I hope I bring some light.
I hope I bring some levity.

(03:38):
I hope I bring this feeling oflove wherever I go.
I hope that when people spendtime with me, they're better off
afterwards.
It's almost as if the actionsthat we take day to day.
They might not even seemsignificant to us, but they are
what's remembered in the endRandom acts of kindness.

(03:59):
The ability to be generous withyour time, with your attention,
with your money, if that'spossible for you.
The ability to be generous withyour time, with your attention,
with your money if that'spossible for you.
Can you check in on a friend?
Can you be there for somebodywho might need you right now?
Can you ask those questions, myfriends?
I think if we take a moment andreflect on the end of our lives

(04:21):
today and we ask ourselves whatwill we be most proud of or what
will we certainly not regret,it informs a far more conscious
version of us.
Showing up today Until tomorrow, my friends, so much love and

(04:42):
