By the time the roaring 20s rolled around, Alfred seemed to have everything going for him: a successful career, a beautiful wife, a healthy baby boy, and an enviable reputation as a cunning businessman; so when Alfred boarded his private plane on July 4, 1928 for a short flight from London to Brussels, nothing seemed amiss. However, by the time the plane landed, the Lowenstein Family would be embroiled in an international scandal the likes of which had never been seen before: somewhere along the short flight, Alfred would go missing from his plane after excusing himself to use the restroom, leaving behind a mystery as twisted and complicated as his years of business dealings. Was Alfred murdered? Did he commit suicide? Did he fall victim to a tragic accident? Or, did he somehow escape to start a new life elsewhere?
