SPEAKER_00 (02:17):
Hello and welcome to
Let's Talk About It podcast.
I am your host, Apostle Rosemaryof RCN Ministries and OSGA
Apostolic Network, along with mywonderful husband, Apostle
Herbie.
We are coming to you still withour unshaken series.
On today, we're going to dealwith episode seven of the
(02:41):
series, which deal in the titleor topic of this series today is
The Fight to Stay Focused.
The theme of this is protectingyour purpose from the pull of
distraction.
So again, the title is The Fightto Stay Focused.
So just a quick recap on what wespoke about on last month.
(03:07):
The episode six was dealing withfaithful with the little,
focusing, just making sure thatwe put our focus or that our
focus is not automatic, thatit's literally a fight to stay
focused.
But last month it dealt with usas a people, as a body of
(03:28):
Christ, being faithful with thelittle things that God has given
us and entrusted us to do, thethings He's given us to steward
for the kingdom.
And so when we begin to look atthe anchor scripture for this
text on today, we will belooking at Nehemiah chapter six
(03:49):
and verse three.
Okay.
And it's going to be dealingwith the fact that, well, let me
just go ahead and read it.
Nehemiah 6 and 3.
And it says that I am doing agreat work and I cannot come
down.
So it's dealing with just thestruggle of everyday life, the
(04:09):
things that we have to endure, the things that we have to
overcome, the distractions inthe world, in our lives, in our
jobs, all of these things thatcome against us to get us off
focus of the things of God, toget us off track of the work
that God has placed in our handsto do for the kingdom.
(04:32):
And so we as a people of God,we've really got to learn to
stay focused in this season andmoving forth.
Because this is dealing withchapter six, like I said in
Nehemiah, the whole chapter, itbegins to deal, start out at
verse one, and it's dealing withthe enemy's plot or the plot of
(04:52):
the enemy.
So when we get down and weunderstand that what the Lord is
telling us is that we cannot getdistracted, we've got to stay
focused on the works at hand, onwhat God is calling us to do.
I know that it doesn't lookgood, it doesn't always feel
good.
There are many things that aregoing on globally, even here in
(05:15):
the United States, but a lot ofthese things that are political,
they are secular things, and weas a body of Christ, as the
remnant of God, we've got tolearn to stay focused.
We've got to learn that this isthe fight in this hour to
literally and to really andhonestly stay focused.
(05:36):
So we cannot get distracted.
Why?
Because we understand as thatanchor scripture in Nehemiah 6
and 3 tells us that I am doing agreat work and I cannot come
down.
So, in other words, I'm doing agreat work, I'm keeping my mind
on the things of God.
I cannot get distracted and Iwill not come down, but I'm
going to continue to repair thebreach in the walls, the oracles
(06:00):
of the gospel, the things thathave gotten eroded, the things
that have gotten contaminatedand polluted within the
scripture and the doctrine ofJesus Christ and the word, the
unadulterated word of God.
And we've got to once again goback to and tear everything down
in a biblical sense of theerroneous doctrine.
(06:20):
And we've got to learn thatwe've got to rebuild from the
foundations of the apostle andthe prophets, but not first, not
forgetting to first put thechief cornerstone in place
rightly fitted, which is JesusChrist.
Once we laid the cornerstone inplace, then we're able to set
(06:41):
the foundation by pouring thefoundation, which is the
apostles and the prophets.
Amen.
So we need to understand that.
When we're talking about that,I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna
read this.
I'm gonna do it in Nehemiahchapter six, verse three, and
I'm gonna do it in amplified.
And it says, So I sentmessengers to them saying, I am
(07:04):
doing a great work, and I cannotcome down.
Why should the work stop why Ileave to come down to meet with
you?
So, in other words, we need tounderstand Nehemiah recognized
that he was on an assignmentfrom God, he had a mind, a
mandate from God, he had a workto complete for the kingdom that
(07:25):
God had given him, and hisassignment was to rebuild the
walls by God, to in other words,to fortify that which God has
already given us.
When there is a breach withinthe wall, then the enemy is able
to come in, he's able to pitch atent, he's able to cause
(07:46):
discord, he's able to causechaos.
So we've got to learn tounderstand that no matter what
it is and who it is and who Godhas connected to you, because
remember, connected does notmean covenant.
People will connect with you,but that doesn't mean that they
come into alignment of covenantwith you.
How do we know that?
(08:07):
Because you watch them by theirmaturity or their immaturity,
you watch them by the characterthat they have in the lack of
maturity that they may alsohave, and you begin to
understand that okay, these arenot sons and daughters.
They cannot, they cannot partakeof the sonship that God is
giving us as men and women ofGod, but they can be connected,
(08:31):
but they're not covenant.
So that means that there isthere are two different types of
people that will that you'regoing to come in contact with in
your life, people of God.
And as leaders of the ministriesand different things like this,
and ministers of the gospel,we're going to understand that
everybody connected is notcovenant.
(08:53):
Because covenant peopleunderstand protocol, covenant
people walk in decency andorder, and that all things must
be done in decency and withorder, according to 1
Corinthians 14 and 40.
They understand maturity, theyunderstand spiritual authority,
they know the difference in whensomeone is holding them
accountable and when someone istrying to control them.
(09:16):
Because control andmanipulation, the word of God
tells us is witchcraft.
But sometimes we as people ofGod, we allow distractions and
we allow outside voices to beginto entangle and ensnare us where
we become polluted and we startthinking like them.
I I begin to tell people thiswatch a man or woman of God.
(09:40):
And as a spiritual leader, andif you're looking for a
spiritual leader, look forsomeone that you can relate to
that understands your identityin Christ, and also someone that
you look at and desire, something that's in them also be
reproduced in you through theprocess of multiplication.
(10:03):
So when you see that, thenyou'll understand what sonship
is.
Sonship is that reverence forthe leader, that reverence for
spiritual authority, that allthings that I do, I have to
align up with the word of God.
It's not that they're trying tohold me back, it's that I'm
trying to bring the correctionin order to prune away some
(10:24):
things in the identity or thecharacteristics of the men and
women of God that we may see, myGod, that has to cut and it has
to die.
My God, let me go on.
I'm trying to preach it, I'mtrying to just do a podcast.
Apostle, reign me in.
Okay, I'm going on.
So we need to understand thereis a war against your focus, men
(10:50):
and women of God.
Distraction is one of theenemy's most subtle weapons that
you will encounter in your walkwith God.
The enemy will get youdistracted, doing all kinds of
other things, besides doing whatGod has called you to do.
(11:13):
A lot of times we don'tunderstand it, and we may be
doing things that we think isconducive to what God wants us
to do for the people, but thenwe have to ask ourselves, what
is it that God has given me todo for the kingdom?
And then we need to be able toidentify that and to understand
(11:35):
that.
But in order to do all of thosethings, we have to know our
identity.
When we know who we are, when weknow whose we are, we are going
to move accordingly.
So understand that distractionswill come, but we must be able
(12:00):
to use godly wisdom to identifywhen these distractions come.
So then another thing when itcomes to the war that is raising
raging against our very focus todistract us, we have to learn to
(12:23):
discuss the common focuskillers.
And and we do that through whenwe when we have things that are
common to us that are killingour very focus, they're called
focus killers.
One thing is comparison.
We have to stop comparingourselves to others, to their
(12:46):
mandate, to what God has calledthem to do, to becoming
overcommitted, theovercommitment to pleasing
people, being a people pleaser, and also a digital overload.
When we've got our hands in toomany pots, then we can't
identify or truly and clearlyhear from God.
(13:09):
Every distraction comes with acost, and that cost is your
process.
See, many of us should have beenfurther along than what we are.
It's time to takeaccountability, it's time to
stop accusing others or feelingas though others have caused us
(13:34):
as men or women of God to not bewhere we need to be in the
things of God.
No one can stop you, man orwoman of God, no one can block
you, man or woman of God, butyou.
(14:33):
So understand this is a fight, man and woman of God to stay
focused.
Nehemiah's focus and hisblueprint.
Apostle, you want to pick thatup?
SPEAKER_01 (14:51):
Nehemiah chapter
six.
He refused to come down from thewall to ent to entertain drama.
The key principle is focus, andit means saying no to good
things so you can so you can sayyes to God.
(15:16):
God things.
SPEAKER_00 (15:36):
Apostle Herbie just
read a key principle from
Nehemiah chapter six about thekey focus is we need to know
learn how to say no to goodthings so that we can say yes to
the things of God, to God'sthings.
(15:57):
That's powerful.
And like he just said, the reallife application when to say no,
why?
Because I am I have learned toprotect my God time, the time
that I spend in consecration, the time that I spend in
meditation, the time that Ispend setting in his presence,
(16:18):
the time that I spend fasting, the time that I spend setting
healthy boundaries andrelationships, the time that I
spend where I realize that inthis season, moving forward,
that many will be promoted, demoted, or retained or held
(16:41):
back in this season.
But the reason that will happen, men and women of God, is because
you did not stay focused.
Go ahead, apostle.
Strategies for um sharpenedfocus.
SPEAKER_01 (16:58):
Okay, focus forces,
clarity of calling, know what
God assigned you to, consistencyin habits, system protect your
(17:18):
purpose, and courage to say no.
Every yes is a no to somethingelse.
SPEAKER_00 (17:30):
So you have to start
your day with a focus reset, set
quiet time, set goals, and alsoset aside time for prayer.
One apostle heard that saidabout the three focus focus
forces, clarity, knowing yourcalling, knowing your kingdom
(17:56):
identity, knowing your purpose, knowing where you know, this is
not the season to be tossed toand fro.
This is not the season to stillnot know clearly who you are and
what God has called you to.
We have to have consistency andhabits in all things.
(18:18):
We have to line up with the wordin all things.
We have to line up with the wordin all areas.
We can't pick and choose whatwhat scripture and the word
we're gonna obey and whatscripture in the word we're
gonna reject.
Me and Apostle have had someheartfelt talks about strategies
and protocols laying out for2026 moving forward.
(18:42):
Because we we have been globalover 15 years, and so in
ministry for equipping seniorleaders, leaders, and emerging
leaders, and what we have cometo, we've come to a conclusion
that character reveals youridentity, your wisdom, as well
(19:08):
as your spiritual maturity, andso we we can't you cannot spoon
feed people that are not readyto go from milk or uh soft food
to steak and and and meat.
You can't do it.
You have to be able to meetpeople where they are, men and
(19:31):
women of God that are leaders, listen real well.
Meet people where they are, andwhen God begins to show you that
there is something or somethings that they are wrestling
with, then when God begins toreveal and release you to deal
(19:51):
with it, move accordingly, according to scripture.
But also, God puts leaders andshepherds as spiritual
coverings, but also as spiritualauthority over other men and
women of God within the body ofChrist to shepherd and guard the
(20:14):
people, but also to give cleardirection, to give correction,
to bring reproof.
When they are covenant, theywill move accordingly, and they
will do all things in decencyand order.
When they are only connected, they are going to do what they
(20:35):
want to do.
That stems from the arm of theflesh of the orphan spirit in
the vagabond, and so we have tomove according to what God shows
us, what He allows us todiscern, what He allows us to
know in the realm of the Spirit, and that it it allows us to be
(20:56):
able to pray accordingly for themen or the women of God.
The courage to say no, likeApostle talked about.
We have to learn to say no tosome things.
It it may, you know, obligation, obligation is a destiny killer.
I need to put that up on mystatus.
(21:18):
Obligation is a destiny killer.
So many people have so manyirons in the fire until they're
running around doing XYZ, butthey don't have time to clearly
sit in the presence of the Lordbecause they're obligated to a
man, or they're obligated to awoman, or they're obligated to a
(21:40):
cause, or they're obligated to apeople, or they're obligated to
a job.
This is where it comes to resetwhen you start your day and set
aside that quiet time.
Make sure you reset and setaside focus goals all as well as
your prayer time.
(22:01):
Encourage yourself.
You are not weak for beingdistracted, you are human, but
you are powerful with focus.
Challenge is this, that's theencouragement part.
The challenge is this.
Choose one focus area this weekand guard it intentionally.
(22:26):
I'm gonna say it again.
The challenge, choose one focusarea this very week, men and
women of God, and guard itintentionally.
If that means that I need to sethealthy boundaries, I need to
stop being so accessible, or Ineed to I need to learn to do
(22:52):
the Lord may be telling you tomeditate 30 minutes in the
morning, and he may be saying,Go back into your prayer closet
another half hour.
Then guess what?
You're going to challengeyourself to get to where God is
calling you.
God is calling you to ascend.
You cannot stay in the valleywhen God has given you a
(23:16):
mountaintop mentality andmandate.
That's good, right there, too.
That's good.
I need to don't don't y'all tryto snatch that and post it now.
Copyright.
All right.
So we also want to tell you thatthe next episode next month,
just a little teaser, episodeeight, is going to deal with the
(23:38):
how the fact that we are builtto last.
So, just to recap on what wewent over this morning with our
podcast.
Let's talk about it.
Podcast here.
We talked about that we are inthe hour that this is the fight
(24:02):
to stay focused, and then weneed to understand that focus is
a daily decision that protectsyour purpose.
Nehemiah was the key scripturefor this morning.
Nehemiah 6 and 3.
When Nehemiah had to tell thehaters and all those that were
(24:26):
sent by the enemy, Beelzebub, todistract them from their mandate
and their call?
How many out there know thatthere are people that are
assigned to get you off focus?
There are people that areassigned to cause you to walk
contrary to your spiritualcovering and leaders and men and
(24:46):
women of God, my Lord, and evenfamily members.
How many of you out there knowthat the enemy has assignments
against you to cause you todelay or to abort your purpose
and your destiny?
So Nehemiah recognized this andhe said to himself, No, no, no,
(25:08):
I'm doing a great work and I'mnot coming down.
I cannot.
He didn't say I'm not comingdown.
He says I cannot come down.
So, in other words, y'all canstop trying to ask me, I'm not
coming down.
I'm gonna stay on this walluntil I complete my assignment.
My God, my Lord.
(25:31):
The enemy doesn't need todestroy you if he can just
distract you.
That's good, Post.
Okay, you wanna just finish upthose right here?
The three focus forces wrappedup in courage.
SPEAKER_01 (25:47):
You are not weak for
being distracted.
You're just human, right here.
SPEAKER_02 (25:55):
Yeah, let's stop up
here.
Hello.
SPEAKER_01 (26:01):
You were here the
three focus uh forces of
calling, consistency in habits, and courage to say no.
Um what is stealing my focus inthis season?
(26:27):
What boundaries do I need toestablish to protect my
assignment?
SPEAKER_00 (26:36):
We've got four
questions here we're gonna ask,
and we'll give you some answers.
I'll do two and a pastor will dotwo.
You wanna do the first two?
SPEAKER_01 (26:44):
Okay.
Why is why is focus so difficultin today's world?
Because because becauseeverything is built to grab your
attention from from apps topeople, expectation, focus is
(27:06):
now a spiritual discipline, notjust a mental one.
The second one is what do I dowhen I feel like I have lost
focus completely?
Pause, reset, pray, go back tothe last thing God told you and
(27:28):
reconnect.
SPEAKER_00 (27:29):
Clarity often
returns when we return to
silliness, and it's so importantthat we recommit when we go back
to what God had told us,recommit to it and say, Okay,
God, I I messed up and I didn'tfollow through on what you told
me to do.
(27:50):
I'm gonna recommit toaccomplishing that which you
told me.
I'm gonna do the next one, thenext two.
Okay, the third question is thisthat we want to challenge you to
ponder on when you ask yourself,I have too many
responsibilities.
How do I focus when everythingfeels urgent?
(28:11):
The answer to that, people ofGod, is this ask what's
important versus what's justloud, my Lord.
God's assignments come withgrace, business isn't always
fruitfulness.
That'll preach, that'll preachright there.
(28:33):
And the last question is thishow do I develop better focused
habits spiritually?
And the answer is this, men andwomen of God, set spiritual
rhythms, daily prayer time, scripture before screens, before
you jump on any apps, before youturn on the television, wake up
(28:59):
and pray, set in the presence ofGod, seek his face, weekly
planning with God, the more youtrain your spirit, the more
focused your life becomes.
So then I have to train myspirit, and I will begin to see
the evidence of the fruits.
(29:19):
How?
Because the more focused that mylife will become.
(29:45):
Start doing some of thesereflections, you know, the
asking yourself like ApostleHerbie, what is still my focus
in this season?
And what boundaries do I need toestablish to protect my
assignment?
I'm going to share right thereand be a little transparent.
The Lord has been dealing withme personally, and not just me
(30:05):
with us, me and Apostle.
And we discussed it that theLord is telling us that we've
got to set boundaries, we we'vegot to really get in his face
even the more because there aresome things that are coming on
the horizon.
Some things have already hit.
(30:26):
Manifestation is coming forthwithin the next six to eight
months, and God is telling usthat we've got to be ahead of
this wave, we've got to go outand pioneer, we've got to bring
back the substance and theprovision that the body of
Christ needs and will need andshall need moving forth.
(30:47):
And so we've got to setboundaries that anything, anyone
that is bringing distraction, discord, chaos, rebellion of any
form, any type of disrespect, anything like that, we have got
to sever it.
And so the reason why is becausewe cannot allow ourselves to be
(31:09):
around contaminated, pollutedthings or attached to those
types of things.
We've got to stay focused, menand women of God.
Our hearts have to stay pure.
We've got to stay in alignmentwith God, with his word, with
his mandate and his purpose forour lives, for the body of
Christ.
Apostles, anything you want toadd before we get off?
(31:33):
Nothing else.
Okay.
So we want to thank you all forjoining us this morning.
And we hope and pray that thisepisode, episode seven, which is
the fight to stay focused, andit deals with men and women of
God protecting your purpose fromthe pool of distraction.
We pray that God blesses you, that God keeps you throughout
(31:55):
today and the rest of this year.
We pray that you have a blessedday in Jesus Christ.
Amen and amen.
God bless you until next month.
You guys have a great rest ofyour day.
And thank you for joining us onLet's Talk About It podcast.
I am Apostle Rosemary.
And this is Apostle Herbie ofRCN Ministries and OSGA
(32:20):
Apostolic Network.
God bless.
