Let's Talk: GMG Johnnie Foster

•Johnnie Foster a gifted songwriter, producer, arranger, and tremendous vocal talent.  Johnnie was born and raised in Durham, N.C., to a musical family, began his career at the age of 10. “I was always pushed out in front of the older kids to sing. There were 15 yr. olds doing backgrounds for me,” says Johnnie. He performed in various talent competitions and was recognized in Durham for his ability to entertain a crowd. During High School, he became a member of John P. Kee’s Revelational Experience Choir when he developed a skill for writing lyrics. •He later moved to Los Angeles, CA. to further his career.  While in Los Angeles, he became a member of the group IZ and recorded and released his first single, Da Bomb, on an independent label.  This was also when he did his first studio “sessions for hire,” getting a chance to work with and learn from Marvin Gaye’s producer, Harvey Fuguay.  Since leaving L.A., Johnnie has had several songs published, released, and distributed by companies such as CBS, CEI Gospel and Scotty Brothers Records as a lyricist and arranger. He has also performed backgrounds for Dorothy Norwood and shared the stage with such artists as Luther Barnes, Cynthia Jones, Detrick Haddon, Vickie Winans, John P. Kee, Lucinda Moore, Lee Williams, Sensational Nightingales, as well as a host of others.
