Speaker 1 (00:12):
Welcome to.
Let's Talk to Animals.
My name is Shannon Cutts.
I am an animal intuitive andsensitive Reiki master
practitioner and an animalcommunication teacher with
Animal Calm.
I am first and foremost, however, a pet parent.
You may have picked up thatlittle chirpy, chirpy greeting.
(00:32):
That is my soul bird, missPetal, and I share her story in
a different episode of thepodcast, but today I want to
welcome you to a conversationaround intuition.
And when I was dreaming uptoday's podcast episode and I
(00:53):
was thinking about what do Iwant to share about intuition,
about why it has become such atrusted, such a special, such an
indispensable tool in my petparent toolkit, I almost found
myself at a loss for words, because intuition has changed my
(01:14):
pet parenting game soprofoundly that I almost feel
emotional, like I'm talkingabout somebody or something I
just so love and rely on andappreciate and value and feel so
grateful for.
It has had so many positiveripple effects, not just in how
(01:39):
I take care of.
When I say parent a pet, what Imean is how I care for them,
care of.
When I say parent a pet, what Imean is how I care for them,
tend to them, befriend theanimals in my inner species
family at all levels of theirbeing, of who they are body,
mind, heart, soul, spirit, intuition has been a game
(02:04):
changer, a turning point in myability to do that for each of
the animals in my interspeciesfamily, as well as other animals
who temporarily crossed my pathmy rescue kitten Momo, who's
now living his very best lifewith his kitten sibling and his
(02:25):
forever family as an example ofthat, the wild animals in my
space as we try to manage ourshared living situation together
.
But most definitely the animalsin my current interspecies
family and that includes my soulbird Petal, who never misses an
episode of let's Talk toAnimals, never misses a chance
(02:46):
to contribute Her wisdom andknowledge.
Also are Dachshund Flash Gordonhe's a standard wire-haired
Dachshund and his bestie, myred-footed tortoise Malti, and
my box turtle, my three-toedeastern hybrid box turtle.
My three-toed eastern hybridbox turtle Io.
So those are the members of mycurrent interspecies family and
(03:10):
my ability to be of service toeach one of them in all of the
different ways.
They need me.
They need my love, my care, mysupport to help them live their
best lives, especially in acompanion animal setting where,
let's face it, we humans makemost of the choices we have most
(03:33):
of the control, whether weparticularly want to or not.
That's just how life flows whenthey're living in our home, by
our rules and immersed in ourpreferences and our choices.
And so, of course, each one ofthe animals in my current
interspecies family.
They have different needs, theyhave different genetics,
different physiognomy, they havedifferent metabolisms, they
(03:56):
have different species, temperaments and preferences and
habits, and so it's a lot right.
Learning for and caring for allthese beautiful animals that we
share our homes and our liveswith, and intuition, has had a
profound impact on how I am ableto show up for each one of my
(04:21):
beloved animals, and this oftengets overlooked when we're
speaking about our pets andtaking good care of them and
wanting to be our best for them.
It's also made me a better me,and that has its own ripple
effect that benefits them aswell.
So this is like a reallyemotional, important topic for
(04:41):
me.
It's one that I have beenexcited to unpack with you, and
I hope that you enjoy today'sepisode.
Please do let me know if youhave questions about intuition
for pet parenting, if you havequestions about intuitive
development for yourself.
I'm actually hosting a freelive webinar for this very thing
(05:03):
coming up soon and you'll heara little bit more about that a
little later on in our episode.
But let's for now, let's justdive in, shall we?
Let's just get into it, and Iwant to start with the word
intuition itself.
I've always kind of had afascination with words and their
origins, definitely arecognition that our own species
(05:24):
cooked up all of these wordsthat we now use with such trust
and often very little consciousthought to unpack them and trace
them back to their source andreally understand if we're even
using them correctly.
And so when I took the time toresearch the word intuition, I
traced it back and I realized itactually translates directly to
(05:45):
me an inner teacher.
So I have come to think ofintuition as an inner coach or
GPS system that's always goingto do its utmost to steer me in
a direction for the highest andbest good of me and of everyone.
So intuition always essentiallyhas my best and the best of
(06:09):
everyone in my life at heart.
And that's something key, because intuition does not work
through our head brain, our leftbrain, our 3D, logical,
analytical brain.
Intuition, our inner teacher, connects with us through our
heart brain.
And if you're not familiar, this is something we talk a lot
(06:29):
more about inside my animalcommunication adventure student
program.
We talk a lot about thedifferent brains and their
different responsibilities.
And the head brain that'sreally good.
It's very logical.
It helps me do things likeresearch a word and its origins
and its meaning and its literaltranslation.
(06:49):
The heart brain is what helpsme use what I learn, I feel.
I don't think I feel.
Of course, emotion is energy inmotion.
So I'm sensing the flow ofenergy through my body, in and
through the world of those I'vecommitted to and care for, and I
(07:09):
am endeavoring to pick up onthose energetic cues as a part
of this inner GPS.
You can think of it like apersonal coach who's always on
call right inside you, or a navsystem, a navigation system that
, if we tune into it, willdirect us with precision and
(07:34):
accuracy and trustworthiness tothe highest and best outcome of
any situation, the highest andbest destination for all
concerned.
So intuition is really ourinner teacher and studying
intuition has given me theawareness of this.
(07:55):
And with awareness has come thecuriosity.
We talk a lot about that insidemy student program as well.
The curiosity, noticing,getting curious, wondering.
It's like, hmm, okay, thetheory is I have this inner
teacher.
I have an inner GPS system andmaybe I should check this out,
see if it holds water, take itfor a test drive, see what it
(08:19):
can do.
And so that's exactly how myintuitive journey has unfolded
to date is just trying it out, noticing, getting curious about,
before I make a decision, ifI've got a few options on the
table.
How do I feel about these?
How's my body moving?
(08:42):
How do I interact emotionally, energetically, what is my energy
in motion like when I ponder ortry on for size, different
possibilities?
So really just trying it out.
It's like when we learn to driveat first we're not really sure
how all of these bells andwhistles and these gears work
(09:02):
together, and so at first ittakes a lot of time, it takes a
lot of concentration Okay, Ineed to do my turn signal.
Okay, especially when it comesto parallel parking.
I've failed my first drivingtest because I couldn't parallel
park.
Now it's like one of mysuperpowers, I am really good at
parallel parking.
So it takes the time it takesfor us to kind of put it all
(09:22):
together.
So that's what we're doing Atfirst, we're just testing out
the theory, we're gettingcurious.
Oh, I have an inner teacher ofintuition Okay, how might that
work?
And we just start drawing somemore of our awareness towards
intuition.
That was where I started and myworld has opened up so much
(09:44):
since then and now I canparallel park the crap out of
most pet parenting decisionsbecause I've taken the time to
learn, to practice my intuition.
I also learned something vitaland important that makes it so
much easier to use my inner GPS,my inner nav system, which is
(10:09):
that I understand what activatesthe inner GPS, like when we
have a phone.
You have your smartphone hereand you're like okay, I need to
go somewhere.
So you navigate to whatever mapapp you prefer Google Maps,
apple Maps, whatever you'reusing and you type in your
destination and that's how theapp understands where you want
(10:32):
to go and what sets ofdirections to offer you.
Sometimes it even offers you afew different routes that you
can take, but withoutunderstanding where you want to
go, it's not going to be veryuseful.
Intuition is the same way.
It is activated by identifyingyour destination.
The destination for a petparent, at least, if you're me
(10:56):
is the love bond, the connectionthat I have with each of my
pets Now, the word pet when Iask the animals what the word
pet means because of thedefinition, when I traced that
word back to its source, essentially translated as a
possession of little consequenceand I was like, no, that
doesn't describe how I feelabout my pets.
(11:16):
And so I decided well, I'm ananimal communicator, I can ask
the animals what does that wordmean?
Why do we use it soprolifically in most parts of
the world?
And they said well, we're yourpartners, empathic friends and
teachers.
This I can get behind, becausethis is exactly my experience.
This has exactly been myexperience of all of the animals
(11:39):
I have included in my world todate, all of the cherished
members of my interspeciesfamily.
They have absolutely been mypartners, my empathic friends
and my greatest teachers.
In fact, I wrote a whole bookabout all the lessons that my
soul bird Pearl taught me,called Love and Feathers.
(12:00):
What a Palm-Sized Parrot hasTaught Me About Life, love and
Healthy Self-Esteem.
So if that has been an accurateway to describe my
relationships with my pets todate and so that is.
Ultimately, the destination isto protect, strengthen, deepen
(12:23):
the bond that we have with ourpets Now by doing our very best
to show them love, care for them.
So that's the destination.
I want to do my very best.
I want to make the best choice.
I want to choose the best food, the best toys, the best
(12:46):
environment, the best veterinarycare, the best enrichment, the
best of everything.
That is my inner GPSdestination for every decision.
So when we identify that, thatit's activated.
This intuition is activatedthrough the love bond that we
have and the expression of thatbeing to just go above and
(13:10):
beyond to get 10 stars as a petparent, then our intuition knows
where and how to guide us.
So that's been the second bigaha moment for me in terms of
changing my effectiveness as apet parent for the better,
giving me amplified abilitiesand helping me to be of the
(13:33):
highest service to my pets, togive them what they want and
need, not what I think they wantand need.
Because, again, intuitiondoesn't work through thinking,
it doesn't work throughlogicking, it works through
energy and motion, throughemotion, through feeling,
through that love bond and theintention to serve with love, to
support with love, to love inthe way that our pet wants and
(13:58):
needs to be loved, not in theway that we think they would
prefer to be cared for and loved.
Of course, the third aha momentis if I hadn't explored
intuition itself, I would neverhave learned that the pets
themselves the souls of theanimals who choose life with
(14:20):
humans they do so veryintentionally and with a very
specific service-oriented reasonof their own to be our partners
, empathic friends and teachers.
And that just brought up somuch gratitude in me that I was
like, oh my gosh, now I reallywant to go over the top and just
show you every single daythrough my actions, demonstrate
(14:43):
love for you in the way that youwant and need to be loved,
every single day through thechoices I make, through the
actions that I take, and I wouldnever have really perceived the
difference.
I don't think, because everyday, most of us humans, we look
out our window and we see many, many animals, birds, insects,
mammals, reptiles that havechosen to live a wildlife.
(15:08):
Maybe they share space with us,but outside of that they're not
seeking to have a connectionwith us.
And so that probably describesthe majority of animal beings,
non-human animal beings that weshare this planet with.
But there's a special subsectionof animals who have
(15:30):
deliberately chosen to incarnate, to come into a physical form,
for the express purpose ofsharing life.
Sharing their life with us.
That's a high calling, becausethat is not an easy life.
And animals that choose to livewith us to be our companions
(15:52):
and often our greatestconfidants, our best friends and
, for certain, our partners andour teachers.
They have to give up a lot ofcontrol.
They have to give up a lot offreedom, Most of their rights,
often their impulses, thenatural course of an animal.
(16:13):
In the wild they would beseeking mates, having families.
Many of our companion animalsnever get the chance to do that,
so they have to give up a lotto keep company with us, to
spend time with us, to spend awhole lifetime with us, and that
is huge.
When I think of would I bewilling to give up my freedoms,
(16:36):
my instincts, my ability tocreate a home space that works
for me and relationships withothers of my kind?
To keep company with somebodyof another species who maybe
never takes the time to evenreally understand me or get to
know me?
That's a big ask.
So it's a big deal.
(16:57):
We look at our pet companionsand we recognize wow, they
really are giving us so muchagency and control over their
lives, their very lives, anddoing so willingly.
They could have chosen toincarnate as a wild animal.
Instead they chose a life withus.
(17:18):
It's kind of jaw dropping whenyou really think about it.
And without choosing to developmy intuition, to study intuition
, to practice with my intuition, learn how to use my inner nav
system, my inner teacher, Idon't know that I would have
tapped in so deeply to what it'slike to be my pet in our shared
(17:42):
life together, in our worldtogether, and the awe and the
wonder and the humility that Ihave found.
In many ways it actually takesthe pressure off because I
realize I'm just not thatimportant.
I mean, I am very, veryimportant in my pet's life,
don't get me wrong as are you inyour pet's life, but in another
(18:03):
way it's like this whole shellof belief that we humans have
constructed that we are the best, the most important, the apex
predator, the owners of theplanet, whatever.
All of that starts to crumbledown and we realize actually we
need our pets more than theyneed us.
Not only are they often ouronly link back to our own inner
(18:24):
wild and the fact that we dobelong here and we are more
alike than different, than allthe other species on this planet
and that's a topic for animalcommunication adventure or
another podcast episode, butthey're often our only link to
even our ancestry.
When most of us had a much moreorganic work-life partnership
with animals as our equals andthe value of their lives, we
(18:49):
literally relied on them for oursurvival, for transportation,
for growing and catching food, for shelter, for warmth, for all
kinds of different things.
And today, being a pet parentcan feel so artificial and so
hierarchical, and for those ofus who are sensitive and
empathic, it can feel so wrongsomehow, but we're not sure how
(19:13):
or why or what to do to fix it.
Well, intuition is the answer, because it has brought
everything back into balance inmy animal family.
Take me down a few pegs to makeme recognize what an awesome,
humbling responsibility I haveand what humility my animals are
(19:35):
exhibiting to me every day byallowing me to learn how to care
for them.
Mistakes and all bad days andall misunderstandings and all,
they are really puttingthemselves on the line to help
me evolve, to help me grow andlearn, as my late best friend
(19:56):
Marcy used to love to say, togrow in wisdom and learn to love
better, which I believe is aTara Brock quote.
She said it all the time and Iuse it all the time and always
makes me think of her as well asmakes me so aspirational as to
the kind of human I want to beand hope to be for my animals,
for other humans, even formyself, especially for myself.
(20:16):
So embarking on my intuitivedevelopment journey has really
given me back a feeling ofconnection, a likeness, humility
, equality.
That feels so much better thanjust perceiving our species as
kind of like an invasive speciesthat's destroying the planet.
I used to maybe you can relateto this I used to kind of want
(20:38):
to change species.
I just didn't like my ownspecies very much, and now that
I've recognized the awesomeamount of power that my pet
family has willinglyrelinquished to me, it's made me
so much kinder, more gratefuland more careful in how I use
(21:00):
that power.
Along with great power which wehave as pet parents, which our
pets have willingly given to us,whether we realized it or
specifically asked for it or not, we have it.
Along with great power comesgreat responsibility.
Tapping into that makes us morecareful and it, for me,
(21:20):
activated a real desire toreally partner with my inner
teacher, with my intuition, andwith that love bond, because
with that love bond comes a linkto my animals, my pet's heart,
their emotion, their energy, andlearning how to read or how to
sense or how to intuit orreceive their energetic state
(21:43):
tells me a lot about what's bestfor them, tells me about what
they want, what they need, whatthey prefer, what feels better,
what potentially will workbetter when I'm tuned in with
their energy.
So this has really been aprecursor for me to learning
animal communication, and itfeels like it is the reason why
(22:09):
I became proficient so quickly, because I started my intuitive
development journey many yearsbefore I started my journey to
becoming an animal communicationprofessional.
So I had many, many years ofintuitive development under my
belt before I ever added theskill set of animal
communication to my toolkit.
(22:30):
So the intuitive developmentdefinitely feels like, and has
always felt like it was anecessary foundation for animal
communication and perhaps moreimportantly, for living the kind
of life I want to live to,being the kind of human and the
kind of pet parent that I aspireto be.
Pursuing the intuitive path alsohelped me really tune in over
(22:54):
time again, with plenty ofpractice, to the inner system of
what I call lives, andsometimes those vibes are coming
from within me.
Sometimes those vibes are alsocoming from my animal and their
preferences and choices.
Over time, I have learned thatthis is a very trustworthy
(23:17):
system and you may be listeningto this and thinking, yes, but
how does this work and how do Istart tuning in?
And that's what we're going totalk about in the Intuitive
Development for Pet Parentswebinar, so you definitely want
to sign up for that.
I'm going to give you practicalexamples.
I'm going to give you practicalexamples and I'm going to give
you experiences and we're reallygoing to talk about how to
(23:42):
begin or continue your ownintuitive development for your
pet's highest and best good, foryour highest and best good and
for the highest and best good ofyour entire inner species
family.
So another huge benefit whyfind the time to learn something
(24:07):
else when I already have somuch that I'm working on, or
I've already spent so much timelearning so many things it's
like?
Well, it actually ends upsaving time because you can make
fast decisions when youunderstand what you're feeling
and sensing, versus heading upinto your head and spinning your
(24:29):
wheels.
You can learn so much soquickly when you learn to tune
in to how you are feeling aboutsomething, when you really learn
this world of intuitive living, intuitive pet parenting?
It can be easy to wonder are yousure that I'm intuitive?
(25:05):
Maybe you've received feedbackin your life that you are not an
intuitive person.
Maybe you have tried in thepast to activate or follow your
intuition and you felt stuck orstalled out.
So you may come into thisexperience thinking, well, I'm
just not an intuitive person.
And the truth is is that if youwere not intuitive, you would
(25:27):
not be breathing, because thereare aspects of intuition that
are hardwired into yoursympathetic nervous system and
that really points to our thirdbrain, the gut brain.
We'll talk about that more, butyou wouldn't be alive because
you would have missed thewarning signs of your fight or
(25:48):
flight sympathetic nervoussystem trying to keep you alive,
trying to keep you safe.
There is an aspect to intuitionthat is all about making sure
that you eat and don't get eaten, and so every single human
animal, just like every singlenon-human animal, is, in fact,
intuitive.
(26:09):
The issue arises around how weare raised, educated and trained
.
So you have this, what I callyour IOS, your intuitive
operating system, alreadypre-installed inside you.
What we are going to do insideof intuitive development for pet
parents webinar, and what weare going to do inside of
Intuitive Development for PetParents webinar, and what we
(26:32):
continue in my AnimalCommunication Adventure student
program is I'm going to teachyou how to locate that program,
unzip it, install it and thentake it out for a test drive.
And do this every single dayand learn experience by
experience, choice by choice, decision by decision,
conversation by conversation, how to use your inner iOS nav
(26:55):
system and how to trust it tohelp make every decision,
whether it's a tiny littledecision of well, what color
collar should I choose, or it'sa huge decision like does my pet
want to pass it home or shouldI take my pet to the veterinary
clinic.
So there are no decisions whereintuition does not work.
(27:20):
There are no choices whereintuition does not work and
there are very few options inyour pet's world where they
don't have a preference.
And so, when you start learningto use your intuitive operating
system to develop your intuitionas a pet parent, there are no
situations where this skillset, this tool in your toolkit, will
(27:45):
not be invaluable, will notbuild your bond with your pet.
You will experience, perhapsfor the first time ever, the
depth of the partnership that'spossible for you and your pet,
how much they have to contributeto the conversation around
(28:06):
their own care, their own needs, their own wishes, and we can
start to receive these requestsand these requirements and act
on them with trust.
And then we get to witness thepayoff, which is the deeper bond
, the deeper trust that we sharewith our animal and that they
(28:28):
feel towards us.
And finally this can't beoverstated All of the tools that
I've learned, really with themotivation to be a better parent
to my pet, to navigate healthchallenges, behavior issues,
likes, dislikes, evenend-of-life transition issues,
(28:51):
reincarnation questions, everysingle bit of it I can also
apply to every aspect of my ownlife.
This has been huge because formany years I was one of those
humans who often felt likeeverybody else got a manual for
how to succeed as an adult humanin this world.
(29:14):
And I guess they ran out whenit came to me because I never
got one and so much of what Itried and how I tried it never
seemed to pan out.
I wondered sometimes am I justa prototype for the real humans?
Well, this is the manual, thisis it.
(29:34):
So when you embark on thisintuitive development learning
journey, you are getting thatmanual and you are learning
exactly how to create your dreamlife and your dream
relationship with your preciouspet, your partner, empathic
(29:55):
friend and teacher.
So I hope you've enjoyed thislittle snapshot of intuitive
development and how it has mademe so much better in my ability
to care for and parent my pet ina way that really fits their
(30:16):
dreams, their wishes, theirneeds and honor them for their
sacrifices, for their humilityand for their love for me.
So when we decide to activateour inner GPS, our intuition,
our inner teacher, we begin tosee the whole world and every
(30:41):
relationship, every connectionwe have, especially those we
cherish the most, with fresheyes and new possibilities.
And I cannot imagine even myvery day-to-day life with my
pets without having intuition asmy trustworthy guide.
(31:01):
It has taken so much of theweight of the responsibility off
of me and made me aware of andwilling to receive all the help
that is there and all of thewisdom that my pet has to share
and wants to share with me.
(31:22):
