Speaker 1 (00:01):
I want to take a
moment and thank you for tuning
into this podcast, life from theFire.
We are a podcast that isdevoted to spiritual growth, and
what we mean by spiritualgrowth is this growth in our
relationship, first and foremost, with God, then in our
(00:24):
relationships with one another.
We've been seeing quite a fewpeople from different cities
from around the world andactually different countries,
tuning in, and so I want to takea moment and just let you know
that we really appreciate yourprayers.
Just let you know that wereally appreciate your prayers,
(00:48):
your time, your energy, howyou're really giving yourself to
asking God to touch us so thatwe can touch the nations and
praise God it's happening.
It's wonderful to be a part ofsomething that is absolutely
impossible to do on our own.
(01:09):
In fact, it's doomed to failureunless God is in it, and he is
in it, and I'm so thankful.
We know that we aren't thething right.
We are one of the things that'staking place, part of the body,
(01:32):
but nonetheless part of thebody.
If we're a drop in the ocean,we're one of God's drops, and so
we're thankful for you tuningin, and it's our heart's desire
that you receive things thatwould actually be able to be
applied to your life.
It's one thing to be inspired.
(01:53):
It's another thing to havesomething that you could
actually have that's applicable, and so if you are new to Life
Around the Fire, welcome.
If you're someone who's beenaround for a while and we've
been around, I guess, about fouryears right now as a podcast
(02:14):
man thanks for tuning in andbeing part of what's going on
Today.
What we're going to be doing iswe're going to be looking at
the values, the practices andthe priorities found in the
kingdom of God, or should I saywe're going to begin looking
into those things Because, onceagain, the kingdom of God is one
(02:41):
of the key teachings that Jesuscame proclaiming and it is
really one of the foundationalthings for us to have an
understanding of, because it ishis eternal kingdom.
It's God's rule and reign, hisrealm from heaven covering the
(03:04):
earth as the waters cover thesea is really that's the
original plan of God and that'sthe ongoing plan of God.
Until it's fulfilled, hiskingdom being manifest on earth.
The invisible realm of God'skingdom manifests physically
(03:30):
through us on earth.
We are the conduits Amazing.
We are the citizens, we're themanagers, we're the ones who are
colonizing earth with thekingdom, that is.
Our mandate is to cover theearth with the knowledge, the
(03:56):
working knowledge, the livingknowledge, the knowing of God
and his kingdom.
Just like the water is coveredin sea, and so within the
construct of God's kingdomthere's a culture.
Just like we live in a culture, the country that you live in
(04:23):
has a culture.
It has a language, it has aculture.
It has a language, it hascertain beliefs, it has certain
traditions, it has certain music, certain art forms,
transportation, so on and soforth.
It has a culture.
Well, the same thing goes forthe kingdom of God.
(04:44):
The kingdom of God is a kingdom.
Kingdom of God, the kingdom ofGod is a kingdom.
It is not a democracy, it's atheocracy.
(05:06):
He is king and thus he iscenter of his kingdom.
We are citizens and we get tobe part of his kingdom, but we
are not central to the kingdomitself.
We're vital, but he is centraland he is one worthy of the
(05:30):
worship, the praise, the glory, the honor, the power, the
dominion, the authority it allbelongs to him.
He gives it to us to functionwith so that we can cover the
(05:53):
earth with the impact of Hiskingdom, and so it really
behooves us to understand whatthe culture of that kingdom is.
We don't wait until we die, until we participate in the
kingdom of God.
We participate in it the momentwe are born again
supernaturally, by placing ourfaith in Jesus, when that divine
(06:14):
transaction takes place, wherewhat's ours becomes his, what's
his becomes ours, and we receivenewness of life, the very life
of God in us, making us citizensof the kingdom, no longer born
into the realm of wrath, wherethe wrath of God is against sin,
(06:37):
but into the kingdom of the Sonof His love, where we are
called beloved.
It's amazing.
It's amazing, it's wonderful,it's true, and it is a gift that
comes to those who believe.
And if you're not a believer inJesus, if you have never heard
(06:59):
about what that means, just askGod to make that real to you,
because you're being drawn byhim already.
If you're listening to this, and just invite him to make
things real to you, because he'sthe one that leads you into
relationship.
People are just midwives.
It's important.
(07:19):
Evangelism, bringing the goodnews, is important, but we don't
change anybody's lives.
I can't make somebody changefrom the inside.
I'm not trying to, but I wantto be a conduit through which
God flows, so that the worldaround me is impacted and those
(07:41):
who believe can receive newnessof life.
Hallelujah, the values, practices and a focus on
(08:09):
spiritual priorities, reallyseeing God's will accomplished
and sharing the gospel andtrusting in his divine
provisions, provisions.
It sums up the values, practices and priorities found
(08:30):
in the kingdom of God.
(08:51):
No-transcript.
Well, number one love.
Love is the highest valuedquality of life in the kingdom
of God.
It is love.
The scripture says that God islove, God is love and Jesus.
(09:21):
In Matthew, chapter 22, he goesas he was being tested by one
of the Pharisees.
Actually, in verses 34 through40, it says hearing that Jesus
had silenced the Sadducees, thePharisees got together.
One of them, an expert in thelaw, tested him with this
(09:46):
question Teacher, which is thegreatest commandment in the law?
Jesus replied Love the Lord, your God, with all your heart
and with all your soul, and withall your soul and with all your
mind.
This is the first and greatestcommand.
And the second is, like it Loveyour neighbor as yourself.
(10:12):
All the law and prophets hangon these two commandments Love,
humility and servanthood, arevalues in the kingdom of God.
Also, in Matthew, chapter 23,verse 11, jesus said the
(10:39):
greatest among you will be yourservant.
You see, jesus is giving adiscourse on things found in the
kingdom of God.
All throughout the teachings inthe gospel, he is referring to
either the condition of hisfather's heart who God really is
(11:03):
and or his kingdom, what hiskingdom is made up of, made up
(11:26):
of, and humility and servanthoodare two values found, along
with love, in the kingdom of God.
Righteousness and justice aretwo other factors or values
found in the kingdom.
In Psalm 89, verse 14, thepsalmist said righteousness and
justice are the foundation ofyour throne.
(11:49):
Love and faithfulness go beforeyou and he's prophesying.
The psalmist is prophesyingconcerning God and his throne
and his kingdom.
And what's prophesying?
The psalmist is prophesyingconcerning God and his throne
and his kingdom and what's in it, what makes up the throne of
God.
Righteousness and justice, faith and trust are two other
(12:18):
value points.
Hebrews, chapter 11, verse 1,says Now, faith is a substance,
or being sure of what we hopefor and certain of what we do
not see yet, of what we do notsee yet.
(12:39):
Faith.
Without faith, it's impossibleto satisfy God, to please God,
to fill him up.
He gets filled up.
When we are full of faith, hegets filled up, he gets
satisfied.
(13:00):
We are certain of who he is andwhat he says.
Not just wishing for, butcertain.
That quality is a value in thekingdom of God.
Forgiveness and reconciliationWow, forgiveness and
(13:31):
reconciliation is a centralpractice mirroring God's
forgiveness.
And again, jesus in theBeatitudes, according to Matthew
6, verse 12, said Forgive usour debts, our sins, as we also
forgive our debtors or those whohave sinned against us.
That's in the outline that he'steaching his disciples in how
(13:53):
to pray Our Father who art inheaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom, come thy will bedone on earth.
Art in heaven.
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom, come thy will bedone on earth as in heaven.
Give us this day our dailybread and forgive us our
trespasses, our sins or debts,as we forgive those who trespass
or sin or have a debt againstus.
(14:19):
Forgiveness and reconciliationare two values found in the
kingdom of God, along with love, humility and servanthood,
righteousness and justice, faithand trust.
There's forgiveness andreconciliation.
(14:40):
There's also peace andpeacemaking.
Believers, we are called to bepeacemakers and cultivate that
harmony throughout the earth.
Again in the Beatitudes, matthew, chapter 5, verse 9,
(15:05):
jesus said Blessed are thepeacemakers or the ones who
change the atmosphere,atmosphere changers.
They change the atmosphere in aroom, in a region, in a city,
in a nation in the world, forthey shall be called sons of God
(15:29):
or the ones who rule overthings.
They're the ones who will takecharge over cities, over regions
, over nations.
Shalom, that word just reallyis rich in meaning.
(15:50):
It's more than just the absenceof strife, or more than just
making a peace agreement atreaty.
It's literally a quality oflife that comes from a person.
It's solid peace.
It's the ability to change anatmosphere into being one that's
calm and controlled with love, not chaos or bitterness, strife
(16:17):
or envy.
That's right, hallelujah.
Joy and contentment make up someof the values found in the
kingdom of God.
Joy and contentment, it's notjust a drudgery, it's not just
(16:39):
some serious thing, man, it isjoy.
There is a joy in the kingdom, there's a joy in being forgiven,
man.
Have you ever really hadeverything that you've ever done
wrong forgiven and you know it?
That freedom that comes fromthat is indescribable.
It's like looking at the world.
(16:59):
For the first time ever You'refree and whom the Son sets free,
who Jesus sets free, is free.
Indeed.
Freedom, joy and contentment.
Philippians, chapter 4, verse 4,says Rejoice in the Lord.
(17:22):
Always, again I say rejoice.
There's joy, rejoicing Also thejoy of seeing people's lives
transformed, truly transformed.
Someone who is an addict, nolonger being bound by that
(17:48):
addiction and actually living afulfilling and fruitful life.
Someone who used to be a liar,no longer lying, a thief, no
longer stealing, an adulteress,an adulterer, no longer doing
that toward people, but beingfree, not doing it toward
(18:10):
themselves, being free from thatbondage, being free.
Joy, see, joy comes.
Rejoice in the Lord always andagain I say rejoice.
Integrity and honesty are valuesfound in the kingdom of God.
(18:33):
Psalm 25, verse 21 says mayintegrity and uprightness
protect me, because my hope isin you Talking about God.
My hope is in you, god.
May integrity and uprightnessprotect me.
Integrity Integrity is doingthings the right way without
(19:04):
anyone watching.
There's a consistency withintegrity.
You're consistent.
You don't have to have peoplewatching you in order to do a
good job.
You do it just because it's aquality that you value.
Integrity and honesty Be honest, no longer lying.
(19:27):
What a joy it is to be able tojust freely know what you say is
true and you don't have to lookover your shoulder to wonder if
someone's following you, catching you in a lie or having
to lie on another lie in orderto cover your lies.
Pretty soon you believe yourlies and you have the reputation
(19:50):
of being a known liar.
You can't be trusted.
That's not to be found in thekingdom of God.
Integrity and honesty and, lastbut not least, righteousness,
(20:11):
peace and joy in the Holy Spiritthese are core values, as
highlighted in Romans, chapter14, verse 17.
The Apostle Paul said For thekingdom of God is not a matter
of eating and drinking.
Apostle Paul said for thekingdom of God is not a matter
of eating and drinking.
Meaning it's not a matter offollowing laws about eating and
laws about washing your hands.
(20:31):
That's not what the kingdom ofGod is all about but of
righteousness, peace and joy inthe Holy Spirit.
That's what the kingdom of Godis.
The kingdom of God is aboutrighteousness, meaning things
are right, they're solid, thingsare right with God.
You have a right relationship, you're okay with God, with God,
(21:00):
in fact, a loving relationshipwith God as a son, as a daughter
, as a bride, as part of thebody of Christ, loved, not just
tolerated, but loved.
You know it's right.
It's right and you're doing theright things.
(21:23):
We do the right things byfollowing Jesus, not by trying
to be good.
By trying to be good, we'rejust not able to try hard enough
and we're not able to be goodenough.
But when we follow Jesus, he isgood enough and he has
accomplished what we couldn't.
And so when we follow him, weaccomplish the same things that
(21:46):
he accomplished.
We keep the commands of God,naturally by being
supernaturally infused with hislife, and we follow the leading
of Holy Spirit and becoming likeJesus in his footsteps.
We follow and he makes us likeJesus In his footsteps.
(22:13):
We follow and he makes us likeChrist.
Peace, again, that word, peace, shalom, this quality of peace,
that's just so solid.
This quality of peace that'sjust so solid, it's stronger
(22:34):
than strife.
It literally is To be a shalommaker, peacemaker, an atmosphere
changer.
It's powerful.
And joy there's that word again, joy.
So there's joy in the kingdom, there's joy in serving Jesus,
(22:55):
and if there's not in your life, something's wrong and you can
make it right.
Things can be made right.
You can make it right with Godby asking him to infuse you with
his joy, strengthen you withhis joy.
The joy of the Lord is mystrength.
His joy strengthens us becausewithout it, I mean, life is hard
(23:22):
enough without joy.
Why add more stuff to it?
Why be sour?
There's nothing attractiveabout being sour and hard to get
along with.
Never good enough, legalistic, never good enough.
(23:45):
You don't have the rightclothes, your hair's not done
right, you're wearing too muchmakeup, you're watching a movie
All those things that areclothesline religion that just
(24:06):
take the joy away from having arelationship with God.
But the joy, his joy, his joyis in seeing us develop and grow
, in seeing us free from thingsthat we were once bound in.
(24:27):
He finds joy in that.
He finds joy.
God finds joy in just beingwith you.
He loves just being with you.
He loves just being with me.
I was working on a project theother day and I was a little bit
frustrated by what was going on.
It wasn't going right In myheart.
(24:52):
I heard distinctly the Lord sayDavid, I like working with you,
not working on you.
I like doing things with you,so let's do this project
together.
In fact, he told me he goes.
(25:16):
I like listening to you teachand preach, like what he goes.
Yeah, I like the way you dothat.
Please do that to me.
Do that to me first.
Let me be the first one youspeak to, and so that's what I'm
doing, even in this podcastepisode.
(25:36):
I'm speaking to you, lord, andI thank you for doing me with
the ability, the anointing thatyou place upon my life, to
(26:01):
convey things, to touch into thehearts of people around the
world Love, humility andservanthood, righteousness and
justice, faith and trust, integrity and honesty,
(26:30):
righteousness, peace and joy inthe Holy Spirit make up the
values found in the kingdom ofGod.
In the next episode, we're goingto be talking about the
practices that are found in thekingdom of God.
There are values, there arepractices and there are
(26:52):
priorities.
These things make up theculture of God's kingdom, and
that culture is an everlastingculture.
That's the culture that's goingto be overtaking the earth.
So it's kind of like get onboard, get out of the way or get
(27:17):
run over, because the kingdomof God is advancing and we are
living in a day and an hourright now in which the
manifestation of God's kingdomis being revealed in a way that
we've never seen before God'spresence being known.
(27:39):
He's making his presence known, not just things about him, but
him.
A big difference, a bigdifference between hearing
things about God and hearing God.
Things about God and knowingGod.
Things about God and seeing Godin action.
These are the days that we'reliving in, and his kingdom is at
(28:05):
hand and it's going to beintensifying.
That's good news, and we get tobe part of that.
So it's important for us tohave an understanding of what
his kingdom is made up of so wecan begin to participate in
(28:26):
those things, just like Jesusdid.
Let's pray, father.
This is our heart's desire isto be like Jesus.
Holy Spirit, please revealJesus to us, manifest him in our
(28:51):
midst, as he would release yourangels to do warfare on our
behalf, and that you would bringabout a demonstration of your
kingdom so that the world wouldknow your glory and your power
(29:15):
and they would come to a placeof repenting and believing and
placing their faith and theirtrust in you and receiving your
life In the name of Jesus, amen, amen, amen, amen.
(29:42):
