In this episode of Life Gets MoCrazy, Jamie MoCrazy sits down with Martin Karrigan, a brain injury survivor, educator, and advocate with the Brain Injury Association of Maryland. In 1998, Martin was a college athlete when he was struck by a car, leaving him in a coma and facing a long road to recovery. Through intensive rehabilitation and unwavering determination, he not only returned to school but built a fulfilling career in special education and became a passionate advocate for brain injury awareness.
Jamie and Martin discuss the importance of access to proper rehabilitation, the ongoing fight for policy change in Washington, D.C., and the stark reality that brain injury treatment today is harder to access than it was decades ago. They also explore the isolation many survivors face and the power of community in recovery.
