Episode Title: Equipped for the Work

"You can't do Kingdom work with empty hands or a distracted heart."

In this episode, we talk about what it means to actually be equipped to do the work of ministry—not just on Sundays, but every single day. We’ll look at how easy it is to forget the spiritual tools God’s already given us, and how to check our inventory before we walk into our jobs, homes, and relationships.

If you’ve ever felt spiritually empty, unprepared, or overwhelmed, this one’s for you.
You’re not called to do it alone—and you’re not called to do it unequipped.

You are listening to the Life, Hope and Leadership Podcast with
Nick Sabrinsky, A transparent, honest and encouraging podcast
to equip you through real life experiences.

(00:23):
All right, guys. Well, I, I wanted to share today
on being equipped for the work and that's what we're going to
title this Mamma jam. I'm actually going to share this
as a, as a podcast because I didn't get time to record
yesterday. So this will be available on my
podcast, which is available on all streaming platforms.

(00:44):
So if you guys are podcasters orif you don't, if you don't
listen to podcast, I highly encourage you to get your ear
tuned into some some good ones. If you don't like mine, that's
fine. But today I wanted to talk about
being equipped for the work. And with this thought, you can't
do Kingdom work with empty handsor a distracted heart.

(01:05):
Write that down. You cannot do Kingdom work with
empty hands or a distracted heart.
The the idea really comes from last night.
I'm literally plunging a bathtuband trying to get the the
plumbing to flow. And I have a dad who's in the
hospital. He had an operation yesterday,

(01:29):
have a pastor who's been in the hospital prior to him being in
the hospital. His wife was in the hospital.
And this has been like a 15 weekjust back and forth.
My stepdad has been in the hospital for a couple weeks.
Ton of other stuff going on, including, you know, my medical
stuff going on right now with myback.
And so we have some students coming in today to do some work

(01:52):
at the church. And I was sitting there last
night plunging a tub and I'm like, Oh my gosh, I did not get
the stuff for these kids to comein and to serve and to do their
ministry that, that, that God has aligned for them.
And I'm reminded I'm like, literally, Oh my gosh, I did
not. My hands were full.
I'm running late, I'm behind on things, chaos, circumstances,

(02:17):
all these things. And I forgot the tools that I
needed for the day. And I'm going to say I forgot
the tools I need, but really I forgot the tools they need
because of the circumstances andbecause of the busyness.
And spiritually, we do the same thing.
Often life gets loud. We forget to check our
inventory, we forget to check our arsenal before we enter the

(02:40):
world to go minister and we showup and we don't have the tools
we need to do the work God has given us.
And ministry is supposed to be happening every day at work, at
home, at school, at your job, whatever.
And so I was like God, like how do I, how do I teach this?
Because it is imperative that wedon't allow busyness to get in

(03:04):
the way of effectiveness. And that's important for you to
write down and think about todayand before you get into your
day. Don't allow busyness to get in
the way of effectiveness. Another way to say it is
movement is not always momentum. You can just do this.
That's not momentum. That's not getting you anywhere.
You can, you know, I'm one of those people that bounces their

(03:24):
legs. It's all day movement, right?
But that's not necessarily taking me anywhere.
Now, it's a nice way to burn some calories.
So how do we get our inventory checked?
How do we do our checklist everyday?
First and foremost, not just Thursdays at 6:00 AM, but every
day we should find time to pray.So point #1 if we're doing

(03:47):
points, prayer is where you check your inventory.
And Jesus, the Bible says, was in the habit daily.
Daily Jesus was in the habit of praying and spending time with
the Father. Second Timothy 316 tells us very
clearly. This is a pivotal verse for

(04:10):
every believer. Every scripture is inspired by
God and all of them. All of the scriptures are useful
for teaching, pointing out error, correcting people, and
training them for a life that has God's approval.
Think about that. And if you read the rest of this
chapter, you're going to realizenot everybody is living with
God's approval. These scriptures equip God's

(04:33):
servants so that they will be completely prepared to do good
things. And I would just go ahead and
say to do God things. So prayer is where we get our
our daily inventory. First Thessalonians.
First Thessalonians chapter 5, verse 17, never stop praying.

(04:56):
Pray without ceasing. Now a lot of people don't
understand that scripture. Like how do I pray without?
Like you mean I'm supposed to pray all day?
Yeah, you can pray all day. Just like you can text message
somebody all day long. Just like you can jump on Google
or AI all day long. You can pray daily.
It's not 24/7, but it happens throughout 24/7.

(05:18):
In prayer we should be asking, Lord, what am I going into today
and what do I need and what do you want from me?
God, what am I, where are we going today?
What am I going into #2 God, what do I need today?
What's in my tool belt? I got to go.
Soon as I get off this call, I'mheading to Lowe's.
I know we need brushes, we need stain, we need paint supplies,

(05:40):
we need sanding supplies. Cool.
Great. You got to have them.
O I'm not going to go to Lowe's to equip for the work of
ministry without knowing what itis we need to be equied for.
O, if you're going to go into the day, are you equipped to lay
hands on the sick? Are you equipped with Scripture?
Psalm 1/19/11 I write your word to my heart that I won't sin
against you. Are you equipped with worship?

(06:02):
Are you equipped with Bible references?
Are you equipped with podcasts? Are you equipped with books to
read? Somebody says, hey man, what
book you reading? Are you equipped to say, oh, I
just got done reading Relationships 101 with my church
team, my leadership team. Oh, yeah, yeah, I'm with my, my
lead, hers, I'm the lead hymns or whatever.
Like, are you equipped? Do you even know?
Because without, without that time and prayer, you're not even

(06:24):
going to know. You're going to be unarmed and
unaware. Unarmed and unaware.
We are in a time of treacherous warfare happening around our
earth like never before. And people are watching bombs
and things go off right and right over their heads in
multiple nations right now. And, and because we live in a, a
peaceful right, we think we're living this peaceful world.

(06:45):
We, we just live so cavalier, sounequipped, so unaware.
Meanwhile, we don't even realizethere's a civil war happening in
our own nation. There's also civil war happening
in our own soul. So we need to get that arsenal
#2 you got to have the armor of God, and you got to have it
daily. Put on the armor of God, put it
on daily. It is a daily defense.

(07:07):
It is a daily equip. And think about this, You do not
just get dressed once for life. I think a lot of people do that
with the with the armor of God. They're like, yeah, I got the
helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness.
I got the shield of faith, the sword of spirit.
I got the belt of truth and the gospel of peace around my feet.
Hallelujah. And then they forget about
Ephesians 610 to 20 for the restof their life.

(07:31):
You got to put it on everyday. Don't walk out of your house
without going. No, I need the mind of Christ.
I need righteousness in my heart, in my, my heart has to
beat for righteousness. My feet need to be girded with
gospel everywhere I go. I need to be preaching the
gospel. I need to be laying hands on the
sick I got. I need to know the sword of the

(07:52):
Spirit. There's no weapon greater than
the word of God and there's no shield greater than faith, belt
of truth. I'm not living by feelings.
Come on, write that down. You cannot live by feelings, I
said all the time. Can't live by feelings.
You got to live by the feeling of the Holy Spirit, the truth of
God's Word, breastprint of righteousness, guarding your
heart, guarding your choices, the gospel of peace, walking

(08:16):
steady in every situation, shield of faith protecting you
from what you cannot see or predict.
The Bible says quenching the fiery darts of the enemy, helmet
of salvation, reminding you who you are in Christ.
That should filter every thoughtin your life.
And the sword of the Spirit, theWord of God, it's the only
weapon, by the way, only offensive weapon in the body of

(08:38):
Christ #3 you need the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
If you do not know your gifts, if you have not even read about
your gifts, get into First Corinthians chapter 12 and look
at the different GIFs. And there's more but but that's
like the one charter that has the most of them listed.
Bam bam bam bam bam bam bam First Corinthians Charter 12.

(08:59):
You are supposed to not just be called but also empowered a lot
of people. I'm called I'm called the
ministry great well, where's your gifts?
If I if you show up to build a deck at my house, which if you
want to go for it, but if you show up to build a deck at my
house and you ain't got no tools, I'm going to ask you how
are you going to build that Well, I have I am equipped to

(09:19):
build a deck bro, you are not equipped.
You might be called, you might be skilled, but if you don't
have the tools, you are not going to build a deck.
And if you are called of the Lord, but you don't have the
tools to do the work, you are not going to make any bridges
for the Kingdom of God. The evidence of the Spirit's

(09:41):
president, president's presence is given to each person for
common good. The Bible literally says God
gives us gifts so we can have a common good.
What did Second Timothy 316 say?So that you can go do good
works? So the gifts, discernment,
wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, tongues,
interpretation, prophecy. Slow down.
It's in your Bible. God doesn't want you just to be

(10:03):
nice. He wants you to be powerful.
Too many Christians are so focused on we're just supposed
to love one another. Yeah, but you're also supposed
to have knowledge and discernment and faith and
healing and miracles. Gifts of tongue, interpretation,
prophecy. Every day you should be asking
the Holy Spirit, which tools do you want me to put in my belt
today? And don't think you just have to

(10:24):
have one gift. You can operate in all the
gifts, and some of them you might operate in every day, and
some you might operate once in ablue moon.
Do not shelf the gifts because you're in an environment that
doesn't like them. OK, that's important.
You're going to go into a Dark World.
You better have your flashlight. You're going to go into a world

(10:46):
full of weeds. You better have a sickle, all
right? You got to be ready before the
Word of God. I already said it's the sword of
the Spirit. But you guys, it's not just
part. It's not like, oh, it's the
armor of God. No, you need Scripture in your
life every day. You need to have the word of God
in your life every day. You need to have the word of God

(11:07):
ruminating in your heart. Type it in the comments every
day. The Word teaches you how to
live, how to respond, how to forgive, how to discern.
When you start speaking out of God, God's Word, when you stop
speaking out of God's Word, you're going to start speaking
some stuff that people should never be hearing.
Everything we say and do should be filtered through the Word of

(11:30):
God. The Nope.
The more you know the Word, the more confidently you will
minister. That is why I wrote Just Say It.
I wanted you to memorize Scripture.
I'm going to write as many of those books before I die because
it doesn't doesn't matter what we know, if we don't know the
Word of God, it doesn't. You can go to Mexico.
Doesn't matter how many languages you know, if you don't

(11:52):
know Spanish, you are not going to be an effective communicator
in Mexico. While in the Kingdom of God.
If you don't know the word of God, every other word you know,
no matter how wise you are, no matter how good it sounds, no
matter how Jesusy it seems, if it ain't God's word, it ain't
the word you need to know. So that being said, do not leave

(12:12):
home without your tools. I got people coming in today.
We have Kim Campos has a team coming in of young students that
have come from around the nation.
It's called the week of Hope, their Week of Hope students.
We have them coming again later on and today they needed a quick
place to minister and to serve as a part of their training for
missions. And so it's been a busy week.

(12:34):
We got to get them supplies. We can't let them come into the
Kingdom work without the tools to fulfill it.
And the same is true. You can't allow busyness and
circumstances, doesn't matter what they are.
Oh, it's sad that your dad's in the hospital.
It is sad. OK, But but it doesn't stop the
Kingdom work from having to happen.

(12:54):
And a lot of people like, well, that's not nice.
Pastor Nick, you, you need to begracious to yourself.
No, listen, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter what we're
going through. It doesn't change the fact that
God wants to use us. Now, there is time you need to
rest. Yes, that's rhythms.
But there is time that you have to work.
And that is responsibility, rhythm, responsibility.

(13:18):
So today let's be praying. Lord, before I go out today,
help me suit up, help me shut up, help me fill up, help me
know your word and sit with you.If your presence doesn't go, I
don't want to go. Today as we pray, as we take
time for devotional to read the word, don't just read the word.
Write it down on a card, memorize it, get it in your hard

(13:39):
drive. Don't just go through verses and
scriptures. No, God, I'll write this word in
my heart that I will not sin again to you.
Get your get your salvation. Do you guys have your salvation
cards? These where you you can write
down names in here and you can write down people you're praying
for. Put these in your pocket so you
can share the gospel. Let's go.
Let's go into devotional today with an intention.

(14:02):
Get in a Bible plan where you complete a thought, not just
open a scripture. Get this stuff stored in your
heart. Get equipped and let's change
the world. Amen.
I hope that helps you guys. Hope that gets you moving.
Let's crack, crack our devotional time open.
Let's move on into just seeking the Lord's presence and let's
get filled up. We'll be back at 6:50 to close

(14:25):
this Mamma jamma out. All right, guys, go for it.
