Today Leah and Paul talk with Mikayla Ockey, a co-founder of Centsei Financial, a company who helps empower couples to take control of their finances. Mikayla and her husband created Centsei to help other couples navigate financial freedom and debt free lifestyles after they themselves had learned the bumps in the road of paying off $20,000 of their own debt while in college. They started Centsei as a side hustle in 2019 and by 2022 they both were with Centsei full time and have had over 1000 clients.
In this episode they dive into topics on the emotional and psychological side of money and spending, the importance of abundance mindset and realistic spending, ways to save money and stick to it, as well as ways to bring in more income. Mikayla discusses 3 steps to help reach a debt free life as a couple. Starting by sitting down together and communicating what you each value spending your money on. Then to figure out where all your money is currently going, and lastly what are your combined financial goals. She also talks with us about the importance of having a "his and hers fund" for each individual to have their own spending money.
