Thanksgiving is the most overlooked holiday in America every year. Not only are we still eating Halloween candy and decorating for Christmas, but we totally ignore what Thanksgiving is all about. Giving thanks. It's literally in the name. Instead, the capitalistic machine has conditioned us to focus on the things we don't have with "shopping holidays" like Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Without knowing it, we've traded time, energy and attention that we'd normally spend with family and friends to deals online so we can save a few bucks. It's our society in a microcosm and if you want to break free from its chains, then you have to find contentment with what you have and define what "enough" means for you.
