Nutrition is critical to our children's developmental success. Dr. Nicholas Perricone, MD, is on a mission to bring healthy food to every cafeteria nationwide through his work with the 'Teens for Food Justice' program. Listen to learn how nutrition affects the brain and extends to beauty, too!

                                           *************************************************
The Beauty Molecule: Introducing Neuroceuticals, the Breakthrough for Ageless Beauty

The first book in ten years from #1 New York Times bestselling author Nicholas Perricone, M.D. introduces the beauty molecule—acetylcholine (AcH)—and delivers a program anyone can put into practice today to begin seeing benefits to their skin and overall health in 21 days.

Skin is the largest organ in the body, and also can be the body’s canary in a coalmine: many skin conditions, from acne and rosacea to eczema and psoriasis, can be flags for larger underlying disease and deterioration.

Nicholas Perricone, M.D. has spent decades researching cellular health and its connection to both beauty and disease. Despite huge success in both book sales and product sales, he hasn’t stopped scientific exploration. Building on his original work with his most recent observations and clinical experience, THE BEAUTY MOLECULE reveals:

How to slow mitochondrial aging with amino acids, glycine and N-Acetyl cysteine
Tap the power of master metabolic regulators
The Vagus nerve/beauty molecule connection
The magic bullet is hydrogen—small but mighty, and able to forestall and reverse cellular degeneration. It can restore muscle tone in body and skin, improve learning and memory, and lead to external radiance and a stronger shot at a healthy longer lifespan—it’s a true mind-beauty connection.

Dr. Perricone’s new anti-inflammation diet features hydrogen water (Dr. Perricone sells a proprietary brand of H water, but gives readers the formula to make their own with distilled water and inexpensive tablets they can buy online) and a robust eating plan that includes nuts, seeds, cruciferous vegetables, grass-fed beef, specific beans (particularly kidney beans), free-range poultry, dairy and eggs. It’s far from restrictive, and points readers who may have unintentionally been starving their skin—and their mitochondria—toward nourishing themselves. On top of food, Dr. Perricone’s complete Beauty Molecule Program includes breathing, movement, sunlight, and topicals—everything within reach of readers.

THE BEAUTY MOLECULE introduces Antioxidant 3.0, and ushers in a new era of smart beauty.

Welcome to Life Gloss, a beautypodcast for sassy and seasoned
women who have lived life andhave a drawer full of lip gloss
to prove it..
We are thrilled to welcome backDr.
Nicholas Perricone, who is hereto share some very exciting news
with all of our Life Glossfamily.

(00:21):
You heard it here first, Dr.
Perricone, take it away.

Dr. Nicholas Perricone MD (00:27):
I know there's a lot of politics
out there and the administrationhas just changed.
And so people are asking meabout Make America Healthy
Again.
And I think this is, I thinkthis is a very positive thing
happening.
It has nothing to do withpolitical beliefs.
You know that health is soimportant as an individual
level, and also on a level of,local governments, and then

(00:52):
national, because the healthcarecosts are enormous.
And so the way to go, of courseis through basically preventive
maintenance, and that has to bedone with health.
And so I'm very happy aboutthis.
I'm hoping that a number ofthings are going to happen.
I'm working right now with a afoundation, it's called Teens
for Food Justice.
And I actually been working withthem for about a year now.

(01:13):
And I'm so enthused about this.
So what it is, we're bringing inhydroponics into the school
systems.
And what the students do is theschool system has to of course
agree, it's about 200, 000 to dothis.
You have to have a space.
We have to get the equipment andthe the students put together
the equipment themselves.
They learn a lot abouthydroponics.

(01:33):
They're amazing.
And this could also lead to acareer for them as well.
But when you have hydroponicfood it's incredible.
So I went to the Martin LutherKing school.
In New York City and met withthe students, and it was there
with the people from Teens forFood Justice, and they're
walking me through thesestudents, and they're so
knowledgeable about the ions andall the mixtures.

(01:54):
They do everything else, andthere's these beautiful.
And they, and there's lettuceit's just so incredibly green.
It's like almost flashing.
They said, you've got to tastethis.
I did when I chewed it up alittle bit, I could feel the
polyphenols burning the back ofmy throat.
It was incredible.
So they make each of theseschools now in that one area,

(02:15):
They produce up to 10, 000pounds a year of produce, and it
goes directly to the cafeteria, and it goes home to the
children, families, and it alsogoes to other areas that they
can service the theirneighborhood.
So Teens for Food Justice isjust an amazing foundation.
I'm trying to bring it into theNew Haven school system that's
close to Yale, and also otherareas in Connecticut, and it's

(02:37):
expanding.
Right now there's seven in NewYork there's one in Denver.
So this hydroponics is amazing.
And so what you have is, it'sthe knowledge it's the the
discipline.
It's health beyond belief.
It's nutrients are so packed in'cause they're getting light all
of the time and nutrients areperfectly balanced.
So when you look at this andthey gave me some stuff to bring

(02:59):
back and I was having a saladwith the cucumbers in it.
I'm like, this is likephenomenal.
So I'd love to see in this.
And this whole thing going onnow with Make America Healthy
Again.
I'd like to talk with peoplethat'll be implementing the
program and see if we can takebasically this whole idea of
teens for food justice into theschool systems.
The other reason I'm at the YaleSchool of Public Health now is I

(03:21):
want to bring nutrition coursesbeginning with kindergarten
right through high school.
I also would like to make sureall healthy eats food choices in
the cafeterias.
So those are my goals.
And I think with thisadministration in terms of Make
America Healthy Again, we cancombine all of this together.
And so we put the politics asideand say, this is for the good of

(03:43):
the nation's health.
And that's critical.

Susan Gerdeman (03:45):
Beautiful.
I love that.
I have two teenagers and both ofthem are super into food and
fitness as well as Marinebiology, et cetera that's
something they'd be reallyinterested in.

Hillary Clark-Mina (03:55):
And also Dr.
Perricone for all of ourlisteners out there that are
excited about this and theydidn't hear their state or their
county mentioned, how can theysupport you?
How can they give some supportto bringing this into their
neighborhood?
How can we support yourinitiative?

Dr. Nicholas Perricone M (04:12):
That's a great question.
I'd love to talk a little bitabout it right now.
So on a grassroots level and youget your school system and, I
recommend everybody goes to thewebsite for Teens for Food
Justice.
And ask for some literature, andthen try to implement that into
your school system.
And if you can, that's going tobe huge for everybody's health,

(04:32):
the children and their futures.
But also this whole thing abouthealthy foods in the cafeteria.
When I approach governmental, local government, they say
there's, it's mandatory thatthey have one healthy choice,
out of three, and it can't bethat way.
It's gonna be all healthychoices.
So we have to start with theChildren.
And, I back when I was anundergraduate, I was working in

(04:54):
in New Haven with the Children.
I was in a work study program.
So 15 hours a week during theschool year and then 40 hours a
week.
And got to know these Childrenare living in public housing.
And I could have control of themlike 15 hours and then also full
time.
I implemented nutrition changesand amazing in a period of two

(05:14):
weeks, basically personalitieschange.
They go to focused.
Calmer and behavioral problemsseem to go away and a lot of
them were overweight and they, they start slimming down so we
can do amazing things.
And then, and if we start witheducation in the classroom, they
could bring it home to theirfamilies.
And you start off inkindergarten and say, okay,

(05:36):
we're going to talk about theimportance of colors when you
eat like a salad.
Because all these differentcolors have different nutrients
in them, and it's amazing.
They catch on.
Imagine a kindergarten sayingpolyphenols.
They do this.
And so they can go home and saywe shouldn't do this.
And and we know the, the sugarconnection and inflammation.
And so anything that causes arapid rise in blood sugar causes
an inflammatory response.

(05:57):
That lasts for up to three daysin our bodies.
So this anti inflammatoryapproach is critical, hopefully
in the cafeterias we have thisbasically food choices that are
all anti inflammatory and teachpeople about this.
And we can change things aroundvery quickly because I would see
a difference in a matter of dayswith these children.
And now my experience with Teensfor Food Justice.
It's very enthused about whatI've seen and they're so

(06:21):
knowledgeable.
These were high school students.
It's just phenomenal.
And I think that's going to makea big difference in what we do.
So let's say with with a neweffort on the new administration
in terms of health and focus onthe health aspects, this is not
politics.
And in every situation we're in,there's always something that we
can really draw the good out ofthat.

(06:41):
And I think this is really animportant change that's
happening.
And so hopefully, when thisadministration is through, it's
going to carry on to the otheradministrations.
And so I'm trying, by being atthe Yale School of Public
Health, there's also a School ofPublic Policy.
And so you through these variousorganizations, we can now
hopefully bring this to thecountry, and we always tend to

(07:05):
be the trendsetters here in theworld.
And so if we can do this in theUnited States, we can do it
everywhere.
And I tell you that it's soimportant because the health
care costs are just keep ongoing up.
And something as simple asImplementing anti inflammatory
diet makes a huge difference.
And with that and at the end ofthe day, we all have a mission

(07:25):
here.
We really have a solid mission.
And, I know I'm looking at thetwo of you, I know you have a
mission in mind and everybodydoes.
And you have to point it out tothem to go, yes, I do have a
mission, but to implement thatmission, you have got to have a
body that is healthy and a mindthat's working.
And through that, then you canaccomplish.
And believe me, no mission isunimportant.
I don't care what you're doing.

(07:45):
It's critical to society'sworking correctly.
And so don't focus on the factthat there's a president of the
United States.
And you have certainly, ifthere's a mission there, but
just think about on a locallevel and what, even with your
neighbors and everybody's doinga different thing.
So the mission is everything.
And so how can we meet thatmission?
My job is to make peoplehealthy.
And so the anti inflammatorydiet was great, and when I

(08:08):
started my skin care company, ofcourse, I was the first to use
anti inflammatories andpenetration enhancers, but most
of my work was about nutrition.
And some people would ask me whyare you talking about, you have
a skin care company, but youtalk about salmon, and do you
have any financial interest?
I said, no, I don't have afinancial interest in that.
I'm not involved in that at all.
But what I do say, beauty fromthe inside out.

(08:29):
Is critical.
And so you can have the bestcream in the world and have this
beautiful radiant skin, but it'snot going to reduce your chances
of reducing a chance of breastcancer or heart disease or all
the others.
We have to do that systemically.
And so what ways of doing it?
Anti inflammatory diet, moderateexercise, meditation is
critical.
We want to Pick up thatacetylcholine, and of course,

(08:52):
things that are pleasurable, aswe talked about that, you have
to have things that bring youpleasure, and that changes your
physiology in so many differentways.
Your immune system works reallywell when you're happy, and then
when you're stressed, it's not acoincidence you get a cold while
you're stressed, because yourimmune system is down.
And so we have to keep all ofthis, and it's nothing is
isolated, everything is amatrix, and it all meshes

(09:14):
together.
And so we just start indifferent areas.
Let's try the anti inflammatorydiet.
And I thought it was critical, and all my PBS specials were
about the diet.
I talked very little about theskin care, but I did talk about
it because I really worked hardfor this.
And once again, what Idiscovered in medical school,
inflammation was everywhere, andthen putting together the brain

(09:35):
beauty connection, and thenchoosing those active
ingredients and putting it intopical skincare, and then
supplements that also do thisand it all comes together very
nicely.
And we can't talk enough aboutthis.
And, with the new book comingout, I'm enthused because it's
historical.
People said, I want to knowabout you and what, what
happened to you and what broughtyou here, and then what do you

(09:55):
believe in?
And so it's really anautobiographical piece, but
there's a lot of great newinformation in it.
So I hope that the book is readby everybody because it can
help, and hopefully with thisnew push for Make America
Healthy Again this will beintegrated into that as well.
The book is going to be a lifechanger.
It's not a big treatise.
It's very right to the point, and I think it's very

(10:18):
entertaining, and it's veryeducational, and and I think
they're all going to love thethe title.
Do we

Hillary Clark-Mina (10:23):
have a name yet?

Dr. Nicholas Perricone MD (10:25):
All right, I'll reveal it.
It's called Beauty Molecule.

Hillary Clark-Mina (10:30):
Beauty Molecule.
Beauty Molecule.

Dr. Nicholas Perricone MD (10:33):
All my research over the past 30
years and finally led one pathto one molecule that does it
all.
And so we are going to be therewith that book and you're going
to get it and you're going todiscover what the beauty
molecule is.
And you're going to have alldifferent strategies to enhance
beauty molecule in your bodywhether it's meditation or
moderate exercise or the foodyou're eating or supplements

(10:55):
you're taking.
And it's all there and it'seasy.
It's an easy read and there'sgoing to be lists and lists of
foods and protocols just makesthis so easy for everybody.
And it's a non intimidatingbook.
It's not heavy duty science.
It's just, really a lot ofcommon sense and a lot of things
that you should know about.
And so we want to make sureeverybody reads this book and

(11:15):
integrates this in their lives.
Simplest things we do make ahuge, have a huge impact on our
lives in so many ways.
So it should be the beauty, health, and longevity molecule,
but it's just a beauty molecule.
You'll find out.

Hillary Clark-Mina (11:28):
This is extraordinary.
And you did change the world 20years ago, 25 years ago, I guess
it is now.
You truly did.
Those of us that were aroundback then remember you had so
much that you had to pushthrough.
There was so much pushback.
There was so much aversion.
People were terrible to you whenyou started talking about
nutrition and skin andinflammation, and you really had

(11:51):
to stand your ground.
And now it's accepted as, ofcourse, inflammation is
associated with all sorts ofdisease.
But I find myself, chiming in onconversations being like, it was
Dr.
Perricone that actually put itall on the line and brought that
to you.
And they're like, Hillary, notdinnertime conversation.
I'm like the reason you'reeating salmon is because they're

(12:12):
like, you're so annoying, butit's happening again and you're
doing it again.
And I'm really passionate aboutpeople knowing that you've been
here all along and you've beenworking for so long and for you
to come out when you feel likeyou have something really well
researched and really new toshare and through everything

(12:35):
that you've been doing with Yaleand With the children and the
school systems, we all need thatchange, and it's going to change
the world again, and for severalgenerations, at the very least,
hopefully it will become the newstandard.

Dr. Nicholas Perricone M (12:49):
Really nice to mainstream because the
beginning was really tough.
Anger and a lot of anger, especially.
And so the anger was really onlevels of academics, they're,
they were the most angry aboutthis whole thing.
But what actually made thisthing happen was people like you
and the average person readingthe book and then trying the
anti inflammatory diet.

(13:09):
And now it is mainstream and andso a lot of people are
benefiting.
You can actually see the coverof the book.
It's on Amazon now.
The release date is April 15th.
You can pre buy it.
But take a look at it.
You'll see the cover and it'ssitting there.
Go to Dr.
Perricone.
My books will come up and thenthe new one will be there.
Release date of April 15th.

Hillary Clark-Mina (13:26):
April 15th.
This is so exciting.
Perfect.
Okay.
So we can link that so we canstart sounding the horns.

Dr. Nicholas Perricone MD (13:34):
Okay, great.
Yep.
Go in this book, and you gocover to cover.
You will now know how tocompletely repair your
mitochondria.
Turn the clock back.
In so many different ways.
It's just fantastic.
And so you'll see a difference.
And and I talk about a lot ofthings, just a lot of things.
And I'll come down themitochondria at the end of the
day.

Hillary Clark-Mina (13:53):
We were waiting for the title.
now that it's on Amazon, we cansay that, we're releasing and,
launching Beauty Molecule onLife Gloss with Dr.
Perricone.
It'll

Dr. Nicholas Perricone MD (14:02):
be a lot of fun.
