(00:00):
Welcome to Life Gloss, a beautypodcast for sassy and seasoned
women who have lived life andhave a drawer full of lip gloss
to prove it.

Audio Only - All Participa (00:09):
Good morning.
Is it fall in LA yet?
It has a split personality.
Some days it is absolutelyfreezing.
Days like today, Okay.
It's in the eighties.
You can tell I just came backfrom hiking and jumped out of a
hot shower.
So I am bright pink.

(00:30):
Do not worry about me people.
I'm fine, but it's, we're havingthat whole October West coast,
Indian summer right now.
How about you in the Northeasttoday?
We're like 82.
So I feel like I'm with you inLA.
I am very confused because we'resupposed to be in fall, but you

(00:52):
know what, I think this is whatwe call a transitional period.
A change is in the air, oneminute it's cold, one minute
it's warm.
And I think a lot of people areconfused what to do, not just
what to wear, but, what to dowith your makeup.
What do you put on?

(01:12):
How do you go from this summerinto the warmer weather?
What little changes and tweaksshould we make?
So let's talk about that.
Let's talk about it.
It's true.
So many people are starting tofeel like, okay, my skin feels
like it has a split personality.
Maybe it's time to change afoundation formula.
Should I be doing powder, nopowder, changing up my skincare?

(01:35):
My tan is What do I do?
My summer bronzer looks orangeand it's walking into, we're
walking into Halloween,Thanksgiving, Christmas, New
Year's.
And I feel like people, and youtell me, Susan, and tell me
listeners if I'm off, but itseems like people are either

(01:58):
totally sitting the holidays outthis year, or they're going
gangbusters.
It seems it's one of the other, one or the other, I should say.
It, there's definitely a lot oftransition and a lot of energy
in the air.
So change is good.
I think change is good.
Soothing.

(02:19):
I think it can be soothing.
Sometimes turning to makeup intimes where we're feeling a
little angst is a way of selfsoothing.
So I don't think there'sanything wrong with that.
No, and I think that there'scertain products that, your skin
just isn't going to want anymoreas the days maybe get a little

(02:41):
cooler.
Our skin sometimes gets a littledryer, all these kinds of basic
things that we know.
But I thought what we would dois go through today and do this
together and share our nakedfaces.
I think we both just havemoisturizer on and nothing else.
Yep.
Which, it's funny, right beforewe hopped on, I was scrolling
through Instagram and I guessDrew Barrymore all week has been

(03:05):
wearing no makeup on her showand she's had Gail on and Pam
Anderson was on with her newcookbook and Jillian Anderson
and a whole bunch of guests andValerie Bertinelli and all great
women, over 40, all great women, all great people, and none of
them wearing makeup.
And I was just watching a clipand I thought, wow, it really

(03:28):
having.
worked in television for a longtime in makeup.
I will tell you that.
Yeah.
That's, it's pretty bravebecause those lights and those
HD cameras are not forgiving.
It makes people think, oh,there's, they're really brave in
a way.
Yeah, it is because they'rebeing scrutinized, all over the
world by everyone looking atthem.
But I just love they, first ofall, they all looked great.

(03:50):
And I think they all were prettycomfortable, but it's just so
funny.
We could talk for hours aboutit.
And I think we'll do our makeupand our product while we're
talking, but.
It was just so funny like seeingthe comments and Instagram
people were like half the peoplewere like, oh, they need makeup
immediately and they lookterrible.
And other people were like, thisis so refreshing.

(04:10):
I'm like you, I don't wear anymakeup when, when I'm at work or
so it was a real 50, 50 split.
But I just think it's so funnyin this day and age that People
think that it's like the biggestdeal in the world not to wear
any makeup, so I don't know.
It was just really, it wasreally cool.
And I thought Hiller and I aregoing on life gloss today and

(04:32):
we're naked face.
We're just, we're gonna, we'regoing to show you something we
like, And history tells thestory of, we go in waves with
makeup and with beauty 100percent from our earliest
recordings to, we see churchdocuments and social calendars
and social leaflets and ladiesmeeting notes from all the way

(04:56):
back from the 16, 17, 1800s andbeauty and makeup.
Is always a topic ofconversation.
So the way we adorn ourselvesseems to be just a pivotal part
of who we are as humans andComing up soon.
We have someone very excitingcoming on to talk about the
psychology of beauty.

(05:17):
Yes Susan Oh, thank you.
Thank you for arranging this.
I am I'm already making notes.
I'm on pins and needles.
I can't wait for dr.
Ann Yes, buckle up life flosserswe'll tease more at the end, but
yeah, there's a psychology tochanging seasons.
There's a psychology to beautyand we're bringing a

(05:40):
psychologist on.
Yeah.
We're bringing the industry, thecosmetic industry expert.
So that being said, yes, I'm, Ithink I'm still in shock, but
let's go through some of thisstuff.
I'm going to be working with mymagnifying mirror here and go
through three products andyou're going to go through three

(06:02):
products and I'm going to showeverybody and I know you're
doing the same hill threeproducts that I'm really loving
and why.
They are my products from, holding on to summer and that
beachy feel good natural makeuplook that I love.
The formulas are a littledifferent.
They're a little morenourishing.

(06:22):
And they'll make me feel likeI'm still on a beach, but yet I
will look like maybe a littlebit more by the fireplace like I
ever sit.
Okay.
So let's tell our audience whatwe're each going for.
So they understand.
So Susan's kind of going forthe, I holiday, 33, 365 days a

(06:46):
year.
I've just transitioned from myprivate island.
And yes, I'll pay.
Yes.
Oh, I am Aspen a praise ski, ormaybe you're just stalled a
praise ski.
Yes.
And you're around a fire.
You're entertaining guests, Preholiday and you're doing a
little mountain thing.

(07:08):
I am?
That sounds like a lot of work.
It's so much work.
That's why we're doing thisinstead.
That's a lot of work, Hill.
I didn't like when you weregoing at first with that and
then you had to bring up And I'mlike, Oh God maybe you're just
the guest of honor.
I'm going to be the guest.

(07:28):
Yeah.
So we just okay.
So in my fake magic world, Ijust flew in from Maui and the
weather has changed.
The beach days are over and now, yes, I'm going to go to my ski
house.
in Aspen or no, I don't want togo to Aspen.
We're now your stall and yourshow.

(07:50):
And I'm going to sit by the fireand really good looking.
People are going to bring methings like hot toddies and
things like that.
Yeah, that, that's what I'mgoing to do.
But before I land and get there,I need to make sure that I look
fresh and young and beautiful.
You need to swap out your makeupbag.
I got to swap out my makeupbecause it was really humid
where I was in summery and nowI'm going someplace where it's

(08:12):
probably going to be a littlebit drier and definitely colder.
So you know what I'm putting onright now.
You know it.
So I have to keep the glow goingand I also have to hydrate.
I know, you're like, let meguess, my Barbra Strum glow
drops.
Dr.
Barbara, as I affectionatelycall her these glow drops are
everything to me.

(08:33):
I use these every day.
year round though, year round.
But if I want to lock in thehydration and add a little bit
of glow to my skin, which iswhat I want to do right now,
this is what I need.
So my moisturizer first, thenthis, because I'm that dry.
Got it.
Got it.

(08:54):
Let's see, in my perfect fantasyworld, I'm probably coming from,
busy somewhere, summersomewhere, gallivanting, country
hopping, let's say, warmtropical Mediterranean.
And I'm getting ready to getdown to business for the fall.
And let's say I'm probably goingto be hitting some of the major

(09:17):
metropolis.
I'm probably going to be hittingsome of the major metropolitan
cities, and I'm feeling like Ineed a more ladylike look.
If you guys remember a fewepisodes ago, I said I thought
that this was going to be mybeing more ladylike here.
I'm leaving my foray into thebohemian.

(09:37):
Which never really fit me ifanyone knows me and I'm moving
back into something moreladylike, which does not mean
done.
It does not mean a full beat.
I'm going more with the Europeanaesthetic.
So it's finished.
And polished, but almost as asecond thought it's effortless.
So that means I'm bringing somethings back into my rotation.

(10:02):
That might surprise you.
So I too, I started with my bluecopper by first and foremost.
And now I'm hydrating.
I've been loving, I think we'vetalked about this, the Olivier.
Flat, meaty, like that.
Yeah, I do.
And I keep going back to it.
I really enjoy the feel of it.

(10:24):
And it's just lovely.
It soaks in, but it's alsohydrating enough that I feel
like it hits all the areas.
Yeah.
It gives a nice glow.
What are you doing?
I, so speaking of glow, I'madding even more glow.
So what I'm doing.
Because I, I feel for fall, often fall doesn't have to be

(10:46):
like, you need to put on a tonof products.
So I'm doing a face actually.
All kidding aside, I'm, I'm notin Europe skiing, but I'm home.
I'm going running errands,whatever.
And this is what I do every dayin the fall.
I'm going to be honest.
So after I do my skincare, Ilike to switch up.

(11:07):
And obviously I have an SPF ontoo.
I should have clarified that, but oftentimes I'll use a tinted
moisturizer, in the summer andI'll use one year round, I'm a
huge fan of that because I hatethe feel of heavy.
foundation.
I figure I take really good careof my skin.
I don't mind my skin pokingthrough my foundation.
That being said, I also wantsomething very dewy and that is

(11:29):
extremely hydrating withoutfeeling like I have anything on
my face, which is a huge, tallorder because as Most hydrating
foundations or most maturefoundations tend to be very
thick, very heavy and very fullcoverage, which drives me crazy.
So the one thing found that I'musing, and actually I'm using

(11:50):
the brush that comes with it.
Is the Le Beige Water Tint fromChanel.
Okay.
This product comes with abeautiful little brush.
And believe it or not, the brushit comes with is spectacular.
I, it is a foundation, but it isa very sheer foundation.

(12:10):
Light, glowy, super hydratingfoundation.
It feels like literally it feelslike water on your skin.
I'm using the shade medium lightbecause it will give me a little
pop of color.
That's something else I find.
Be careful as we mature and becareful as you go into the fall

(12:31):
of choosing something too light.
Sometimes get a foundation thatmight be a hair too deep for me.
Will give me a little color.
Just make sure you're doing whatI'm doing and doing your feather
strokes to make sure there's nolines of demarcation.
But this is super hydrating, super lightweight, sheer.

(12:53):
Glowy.
But very little coverage.
So if you feel you need morecoverage go in with a concealer
on top.
And you can go ahead and addthat.
I'm not going to today.
I'm just gonna do a sheer washof the foundation and I just put
it everywhere.
But it actually feels likeyou're putting a cool water on
your face, but it's sohydrating.

(13:16):
I love this product, and itcomes in a bunch of shades.
They make one that's a littlebit of a fuller coverage, and
they say that one's sort oftheir concealer version.
But I'll sometimes use that onefor evening, or if I do want a
little more coverage than thisone gives I'll use that one.
So there's two versions.
But this is a water tent and myGod, I love it.

(13:40):
See, do you like that?
Yeah.
Beautiful.
It's good, right?
It's really good.
It's really good.
It's beautiful.
So that's your first thing.
Yeah, that's my first thing.
My first thing I want to talkabout, you guys may have
noticed.
I want to talk about eyelashcurlers.
This is the one thing that is,it's so easy to leave this out,

(14:00):
but if you curl your eyelashes,it will immediately, it is like
a pushup bra for your wholeface.
It's going to lift your cheeks.
You're going to look happier, you look more cheerful, you look
more kept, you look morepolished.
You don't even necessarily haveto put a whole lot of mascara

(14:22):
on.
Sometimes even a clear browmascara is fine, but a curled
lash is a big deal.
So people are always askingwhich brand of lash curler is
the best.
That's not necessarily the rightquestion.
The question is, what is theshape of your eyeball.
How does your eyeball sit in thesocket?
Some people's sit quite round.

(14:45):
Some people sit more flat.
Some people have a protrudingoccipital bone up here.
So if you'll notice, I amsuggesting that you guys
actually go into a store as muchas you can and try Eyelash
curlers.
See which ones fit your face.
Do you see how deep that you is?

(15:08):
Here I'll put it right.
See how deep that you put myglasses on.
Which one is this Hil?
So I'll tell you.
So see how deep that you is?
And then In comparison, do yousee how shallow this is like the
American you and this is like avery European, you it's yeah,

(15:31):
they're very different.
So these are going to fit.
This is for someone that has adeep set eye.
This is also high right here.
So for me, my eye isn't superdeep set, but it is more on the
round side.
But for me, this, there's alittle too much metal here for
me to actually get in there.
So it makes it harder for me.

(15:52):
If you have a deep set, I, thisis the young blood.
This one is a little bit, it'sharder to find.
It's pretty deep.
It's harder.
It's hard to find an eyelashcurler for a deep set.
This one Which is for more of awide set broad eye, which like

(16:14):
for you, Susan, this is going tobe great for you because you
have, this might be too wide, but it, yeah, it looks a little
wide for me.
It's a little white, but thisone is better for someone that's
a little flatter and flat is notbad.
Deep is not good.
Just it's anatomy people.
But like for me, this one, Whichis the Shiseido is good.

(16:37):
Yeah, it gives you flexibility.
This is pretty universal.
You can't really go wrong withthis Shiseido because it will be
exposed eyes and you can turnit.
Sometimes I'll turn it a littlebit.
It's a little flat for me.
It won't go into my innercorners.
I have to turn it for my innercorners.
Yeah, so I found one that's inthe middle and this one is the

(17:00):
Surratt so This one is very avery deep you yeah, this is a
slightly less of a U if youcompare them.
It's a little broader.
See how deep that goes in there?
See how that's a little broader?
And then this one, the Shiseidoone, is quite flat.

(17:28):
So it actually makes adifference because you want
these points to hit Otherwiseyou're getting a weird kink mid
lash and that can drag your eyedown, especially if you have a
hooded eyes.
So for all of my hooded sistersor people that have lost a
little bit of, the perkiness intheir outer corner, take a look

(17:52):
at your lash curler.
First of all, use one.
Secondly, get a curler.
Fitted for an eyelash curler.
I know it sounds crazy.
I know it sounds like a lot ofwork.
No I think much time go to thedepartment store Or you can even
buy these on amazon.
You can try them at home You cansend back the ones that don't

(18:13):
work for you.
I use the shiseido.
I also have a chanel one that Ilike and I find that to be a
good fit, but i've just prettymuch always used the shiseido.
Yeah You And it's always beenpretty universal.
Yeah.
It seems to work well, but Ilike that one.
I might pick that up.
It's nice because it's good foran eye that isn't quite so

(18:35):
broad, but you can see not onlydoes it get.
My corners, but it gives areally nice curl too.
Yeah That's a nice sometimes ifi'm being a little naughty.
I'll show you guys.
This is a fun little Oh boy.
I can't believe I did that.
This is a fun little trickSometimes if i'm being a little

(18:58):
lazy or a little naughty i'lltake you know, any sort of an
eyeliner here Oh, wait, I mighthave an eyeliner.
I do sometimes I'll take alittle cream shadow or I'll even
take a little eyeliner and I'lljust put it on my pad.
Whoops.
I'm not showing you guys.
I'll take it onto my pad hereand then it's like an old makeup

(19:25):
artist trick.
Stamp.
And I'll just stamp it.
It's hard to do.
Yeah.
When I'm looking in funnyplaces.
Hang on.

(19:45):
And it gives you a little tinybit.
Of a lash.
There you go.
Yeah, it's a lazy tight lines, but without really depositing a
whole lot and it gets it rightin there into the lash line.
I haven't done that in a longtime.
Yeah.

(20:05):
All right.
All right.
Look at you go.
You look like you had a doublemacchiato.
Look at you go.
All right, so what's number twofor you?
I love a bronzer and I tend tobe a little bit more of a
peaches and cream complexion, atrue light peach complexion.

(20:26):
A little bit of cool undertone,a little bit of warm overtone,
but It is really hard to findbronzers that when you tend to
be on the lighter side thatdon't turn orange as we know.
So many of them are so warm andwe've had the discussion before

(20:47):
how the whole world now iseverything is so warm but yet
when I've tried to do more likea sort of cool toned bronzer it
looks so gray and terrible.
So over the years I've managedto find a couple that work for
me.
And my skin tone.
But I think would really, theytend to be more along the
neutral tones.

(21:08):
And I think I really, like theseshades a lot because they're not
too orange which can be reallytricky to find.
Also, I personally in thesummer, I might use a powder
bronzer, but in the winter andthe cooler months, a hundred
percent of cream bronzer.
Don't be afraid of creambronzers.

(21:28):
Okay.
They are so beautiful.
They give such a natural glow.
You can shade and contour withthem.
You can give it all over glowwith them.
But I don't have a lot of timefor contouring nonsense during
the day when I'm running out thedoor.
Here's an idea though.
I think ahead to what lip I'mdoing.
Meaning, am I going to be doinga lip that has a shimmer to it?

(21:52):
Or am I doing something that hasno shimmer, either a matte or a
gloss without any shimmer in it?
If that's the case, then I willuse a bronzer that has a little
bit of a shimmer or highlight init.
If I'm using a lip that is veryshimmery or does have a little
bit of a payoff, a glow to it, Iwill use a cream bronzer that

(22:18):
does not have that.
Shimmer and or very low, more ofa matte cream.
That way I'm getting more threedimensional makeup.
I can't, I have a pet peeve whenI see disco ball face, meaning
shimmer on the eye, shimmer onthe cheek, shimmer on the lip.
And I know you feel the sameway, Hill.
So think about it, ladies, whenyou're out there and you're
balancing your makeup in themorning, or you're like grabbing

(22:39):
your lip.
I think I had what lip I don'tknow about you Hill, but I
designed, you My makeup in myhead, even if I'm only using two
or three products with the lipfirst.
So I always choose my lip shadefirst, and then I work
backwards.
It just, it always works for me.
It's foolproof.
So because later I'm showing youmy fabulous new lip product that

(23:00):
I've fallen in love with, itdoesn't have shimmer.
So I'm not going to use my oldstandby Chanel.
Okay.
My cream bronzer from Chanel, which I should be using the
official names, but that means Ihave to put my readers back on.
And I should know this because Ihelped launch this product back
in the day.
This is the Le Beige healthyglow.
Okay.
They now come in differentshades, which is, they should

(23:23):
have done that in the beginning.
But this one is the the originalone.
It's just the tan bronze.
Beautiful.
I know you have this in yourkit.
You use this.
Everybody uses this.
It's so good.
And you know what I love?
Now they make this small travelsize versus the big dog.
And I'm telling you, This sizeis so much better because you

(23:45):
can take it with you.
And I haven't even gone throughlike half of it yet.
So I love this bronzer.
It gives that gorgeous glow.
If I was going to have a shimmerlip, but because I don't have a
shimmer lip, I get to use myfavorite.
So my favorite is the WestmanAtelier, the super loaded tinted

(24:09):
highlight.
Is that what it's called?
Wait a minute.
Oh my God.
I can't even see anymore.
Super loaded tinted highlight.
Oh, I did get it right in thepot de soleil.
Okay.
Oh my God.
Ready?
Ready.
I take a big fluffy brush.
Use something synthetic.
Because you're using a creamproduct and it just doesn't
absorb into the hairs as muchand it lays down nice Swirl it

(24:31):
around You don't even need topick up much.
And by the way, this product haslasted me I haven't even gotten
to the bottom of the pan andit's and I use it every day and
you are really moving that brushin there.
It's almost a year old hill.
You know, I love her.
Okay, this is how I apply it.
I bounce on the cheek huh Andthen I swoop up and then I come

(24:56):
in and I do little circle scoopsand then I go right under and
then I come around and I come inand I go up and then pop.
That's it.
That's all I do.
And then if I'm feeling reallyfoxy, I might go back in and do
a little across the lids, whichI love.

(25:19):
Yep.
I tend to focus more here.
I leave the center blank as muchas I can.
Cause that's where my brain isand it's usually empty anyway.
So as if I had to, sorry.
No, what it does is by creatingemptiness here and a little bit

(25:41):
of emptiness through here, itactually accentuates.
The rest of the face reallynicely.
Pretty.
Sometimes the spaces that weleave empty are the most
dramatic.
Oh, absolutely.
Remember that.
That was one of the best tips Iever got.
So sometimes I just go rightacross.
Like I have been at the beach.

(26:03):
Yeah.
That's it, my friend.
That's so I get a littledefinition and a whole lot of
glow.
Very pretty.
I know it's, I have to tell you,you don't hear me often say it's
the best, but this is the besttinted pretty highlighting

(26:25):
bronze.
It's like a highlight combobronzer highlight.
I have used this on deep skintones and I've used it on light
skin tones and everything inbetween and it is just, the
best.
Wonderful.
Oh, I love it.
See, I'm gonna have to come, I'mgonna have to come to class with
more color next time because mylittle transitions, I think

(26:47):
because I am doing more of alady like thing for fall, there
will be color, But I need tomake sure the skin looks good
first.
So I need to make sure thefoundations are in place first.
For example, the lashes need tobe pristine because we may or
may not be wearing mascara.
So my next thing is these liplines.

(27:12):
So I'm going to be wearing somelipstick this season.
And I'm going to show you onethat it's going to take you way
back, but I'm going to bewearing some lipstick.
I'm going to be going a littledark.
I'm going a little nineties.
I'm having a little fun ladylike we'll see, but I
technically shouldn't be becauseof these hereditary lip lines.

(27:33):
I think, I think my genes.
I also think the 90s, whateverit is, what it is, we keep got
to keep moving.
So I'm on a mission to see whatcan be done here.
I do have a clear Lip liner, like a few brands make clear lip
liners and they're designed tomake your lips stay in place and

(27:57):
not bleed.
I find that they're, here'ssomething fun.
I'm gonna show you a fewdifferent things.
Here's something fun that Ifound in an eye set.
This is an ell brow groomingpencil.
It's waxy.
So I will sometimes take itright into these creases and pat

(28:19):
it in.
It's like a shellac and it fillsit in.
So I'll do that one.
Or there's another option.
That really does.
Wow.
That really does.
It fills in and it blurs andthen I can put makeup on top of
it.
I can do it over or under.

(28:40):
And you can use it on your browstoo.
Yeah.
And Trini London, and then alsoMally, I forgot to grab my
Mally, Trini of London has thismiracle blur is what she calls
it.
And I pick it up like this and Ipick it up literally like
spackle.

(29:01):
And I take it and I push it.
You can see it's like midnightat the wax museum, right?
I smile so I can get it in thereand then I press it into all the
little pores around here toobecause you don't want to have a

(29:22):
blurred line here and then seepores here that's weird.
So then I'll push it in and thathelps to soften as well.
So you can do a few differentthings but I find in a pinch I
can even use a brow wax.
So if you guys have a brow waxrolling around, go grab it and

(29:46):
try it before you buy somethingelse.
Otherwise, Trini or Mally havethese little like blotting
pastes that fill in lines prettynicely.
Yeah, I feel better.
It's and it's so fresh andnatural.
Like you don't see it at all.
And then I can go in with a lip, which this is not my third

(30:09):
thing, but Susan, I can't helpbut show you.
Can you guess what I'm going toshow you?
I don't know.
I probably could, but I don'twant to spoil.
We're going back.
We're going in the way backmachine.
Oh my God.
Face.
com cranberry.
Yes.
Huh.
Carolyn besets lip.

(30:29):
Huh.
That is such a pretty color.
And notice I'm using no lipliner.
You don't need to.
You just did that and it'sperfect.
Oh, I forgot how much I lovethat color.
It's perfect to this day.
It really is.

(30:51):
That's a beautiful shade.
It's a beautiful shade.
It's such a good shade.
And mind you, I have nofoundation on people.
I have just my little lip blur.
And this isn't pretty much thelook that I'm going for, but I
will tell you there is a thirdthing that I'm doing.
Shall I show you and then you'llshow your third?

(31:13):
Sure.
You're not going to believethis.
Okay.
I'm trying powder for fall.
Oooh.
Figure that lady like finish.
I've been doing all the tintedmoisturizers for so long, and
I'm looking for that suedeyvelveteen finish, but I don't

(31:34):
want a lot of coverage.
So I'm not gonna go for afoundation.
that has a matte dry down.
I don't want that much coverage.
So what I'm experimenting withis what they used to do in the
twenties.
So for example, in the twentiesand thirties, All they did was
they would put their ponds on,depending on what kind of

(31:55):
coverage they wanted.
If they wanted light coverage, they'd put their ponds on,
they'd blot it off, let it soakin.
It was very slightly, hydratedon the skin.
Then they'd powder the heck outof their faces and brush it off.
If they wanted more coverage, they would slather it on.
It would be heavier.
They would let it sit in for asecond.

(32:15):
They would not blot it out.
They would pack that powder onand then brush it off.
And they would almost have afull coverage foundation.
So people think foundationdidn't exist.
Oh yes, it did.
When you pack powder on top ofthis is, an oil, you guys, this
is an original.
That's like a salve.
So when you pack powder on topof that, it's going to turn into

(32:37):
a cream on the skin.
So I've used.
Just my little light oils.
I've given it so much time tosit in, set in.
And I have a few differentpowders and I'm going to try
setting powders, finishingpowders.
I'm going to play with a lot ofdifferent powders and see how it

(32:59):
goes.
But shall we do the Chanel?
This is.
I was just I'm sitting herethinking every powder you just
held up I have in my kit.
The Chanel powders are still Iwill say this forever.
The French know how to milltheir powders.
Do your Lancôme Chanel Beautifulpowders beautiful That one size

(33:28):
powder that you just pulled Ipurchased that For my daughter's
homecoming makeup that I didlast week as a setting powder It
doesn't have any color payoff.
It's really a nice Loose powder.
I like it.
Let's try that one.
I like it.

(33:48):
i'm sure our audience has beenseeing this everywhere You Yeah.
Cause they've nice.
It's nice.
And, I actually did a littlevideo on this because it's
similar in ingredients to someof the powders they were using
in the twenties and thethirties.
It has help in the top of thedeck.
So it's going to give you thatreally smooth that's why you're

(34:11):
absorbing.
Yep, and that's why people aregetting that really smooth
finish.
So this is what I'mexperimenting with.
So you're going very 90s withyour fall makeup with just a
nude eye, the cranberry stain,Carolyn Bissette lip, and like

(34:31):
more of a matte finish.
That's what's happening today.
We're gonna yeah you and I'mpushing it into my brow.
You look like me from the 90s.
Pardon?
You look like me from the 90s.
We met in the 90s.
I know I love this.
And you'll notice I've pushed itinto Pardon me.

(34:52):
I pushed it into my Lashes aswell because then if I decide to
go With any mascara.
I already have a powder base.
It's like a pre lash.
It's really nice.
But it's very velvety thatpowder.
I thought they did a really goodjob.
Yeah, it's the talc.

(35:13):
It's got a nice velvet finish toit.
I like it.
I think it's cool, right?
Yeah, it's a nice powder.
I'm pleased with it.
I am pleased with it.
And then I can just go back inif I want and add a little on

(35:34):
our lip.
Yeah, that lipstick always madesuch a beautiful blush because
it's so sheer and glowy.
I gotta order one of those.
I love that color.
It's really good.
And it looks good on so manyskin tones.

(35:55):
It really does.
And it makes me miss her.
She was so great.
Wow.
It's beautiful Hill.
Cool.
Really pretty.
And very fall, fresh, very fallfresh.
And the powder is set in.
I can missed it.
If I want, I can come in with alittle extra oil on my hands and

(36:16):
press in.
I have, that's it.
Yeah.
I curled my lashes.
Yeah, I filled in the road maptravels from my lips to my nose
And very pretty I love this hillIt's so fresh And honestly if
you were to do this makeup fromstart to finish, you know Do

(36:38):
your skincare curl your lashesput the lip on toss some powder
and a little cheek That's like athree minute makeup out the door
and you look very fall fresh.
I love this Thank you.
What do you guys think audience?
I love it.
It's beautiful.
What do our light glossersthink?
Yeah, it's the easiest in theworld.

(36:59):
Yeah, we were simple in the 90s.
We twisted our hair up.
We tied a scarf on.
Were we though?
I don't know.
That felt dramatic, but I thinkwhen we look at it compared to
today, think of the few productswe had.
Yeah, that's true.
We, I don't think we wore asmuch, maybe.
Some days we did and some dayswe did.

(37:19):
I think it depends.
I don't know.
It depends on the day.
So yeah, so I'm the same as you,but more glowy, more, not giving
up.
The summer and this is what Ithis makes me feel Alive as I
move into the fall.
It makes me feel fresh.
So my little Foundation watertint my little bronzer and

(37:43):
highlight combo.
That's my second product and mythird product You ready?
Oh, yeah, I am so into thisbrand I just found them and they
are called Refy very smalllittle niche brand found them in

(38:04):
Sephora and what drew me tothis, let's face it.
I've never met a gloss.
I don't love.
I'll admit it.
I'm a gloss.
A holic.
My name is Susan.
But I have to say.
The packaging drew me in becauseit was very minimal 90s Prada
esque chic.
The price point made me pause 20for lip gloss, which in a

(38:30):
Sephora or department store isalmost unheard of.
And I was a little, I was drawnto this.
And then I started looking atthe colors and when I looked at
the names of the colors and thenI saw them, they look so deep,
but yet go on.
So I should have brought all ofthem.

(38:50):
I think there's only fiveshades, but the two I bought,
and what I love about this glossis there's no shimmer.
But it's a, but they're verynatural, warm, yet cool, nudish,
brownish tones.
From the deepest skin tone canwear these, to the fairest skin
tone.
They are universal glosses foreveryone.

(39:12):
The two shades I pulled, one iscalled Taupe, which, talking
about 90s, this drew me rightin.
And the other one is calledfawn.
So I'm going to watch both foryou.
And then you tell me which one, first of all, I love the
beautiful, nice metalapplicator.

(39:35):
That's the Mac.
So it's heavy, right?
It's weighty, very heavy,beautiful.
Stay very cool.
Feels so good.
So this shade is the fawn.
Okay.
So let me just swatch a littlebit.
It's almost like a kind of likea rosewood.

(39:56):
Kind of.
It's like a nude but with maybea little hint of pink.
And then the taupe, which whenyou look at it, you're like,
yeah, no.
Yeah.
But like for me, I was like, that's good.
It's going to be too deep.
It's not my tone.
And then Oh, cool.
Brown.
Oh, what if you mix thosetogether on your hand for me,

(40:19):
please?
It's so good.
I know.
Who are these people?
What do we know about them?
I, it's I think it's two younggirls.
I have to Google.
It's two young girls, I think,or one young audience.
Life clusters.
What do you guys know aboutrefi?
Is it refi?
Is it, what is it?
How do we say this?

(40:39):
It's refi.
Refi.
What should I do?
Should I do the taupe or shouldI do the fawn?
What do you want?
The taupe?
Mix them.
All right.
I'll do one on.
Okay.
So this one is the, this istaupe and they feel so good.

(41:06):
Speaking of how is your 28 days?
Really good.
I'm so hydrated.
I've been grounding.
I've been doing the antiinflammatory diet.
I'm sorry.
I'm better.
I'm feeling very good and I'mnot hungry.

(41:27):
Ooh, is that just, is that fawnalone?
I did fawn on top and the taupeon the bottom.
Pretty.
I'm gonna just mix it.
Okay.
Here's scent, feel, viscosity,no scent, nice and thick and

(41:47):
rich.
Just the way you like it.
Okay.
Just how I like it.
I like an unctuous, sexy, decadent brownie fudge, Sunday
gloss.
I'm that girl.
Okay.
You want a lip oil.
If you don't want to feel it,you could blend it down, but
this is for someone who lovesit's shiny.

(42:09):
It's rich, no shimmer.
It's like the perfect nude.
Look at it for fall.
This is the perfect nude forfall.
So this is I like it.
I'm done.
I'm done.
I'm not doing any eye makeuptoday.
I'm like running around.
So I, I got a little bit of atint.
I got a little bit of ahighlight in a bronze.
I got a little bit of a fallishcaramelly nude lip.

(42:32):
And I think this is the perfecttransition into fall.
I look healthy, fresh.
I feel great.
And, um, it took me, if weweren't talking and, messing
around here, this, I know, butthis is the best part.
Yeah, but this, he'll, What Ijust did would take me, I could,
if you time me, I could probablydo this in one minute and I'm

(42:55):
not joking.
Oh yeah, mine too.
Like I'm just realizing thatI've been running around all
summer with a purse full of likestains and bronzers and this and
that and tints and skintedtinted CF tints and all this
stuff.
And I feel like I'm constantlygetting honked at, Okay, I'm

(43:15):
already in the car.
Where are you?
And running and doing my makeup, winding down the steep mountain
hill, driving myself crazybecause we're so busy all the
time that I'm always juggling.
And now I can just curl mylashes, put on a lip and make

(43:36):
sure I'm hydrated.
Sunscreen, Pat some powder.
And this is my jam.
I might go in with a little bitof Maxine's Revenge.
Just on a fluffed brush.
I was going to say, this wouldbe the perfect time to add a
little bit of Maxine's Revengeconcealer on any areas that you

(43:56):
think you may need a little morelove.
Because it does have the serum,it's got the skincare, it's
perfect for winter.
And Leah is the best.
That's such a great product.
I think my daughter stole mine.
So I brought Leah.
If you're listening, I need tohit.
I need to hit cart and getright.
And it's funny.

(44:18):
My daughter has more of acombination skin and she loves
it.
And I'm bone dry.
I tell people all the time, youdon't need to be 40 plus to love
it.
No.
And no, it's because my daughtersaid, she's mom, it's so sheer,
but yet it covers.
Huh.
Yeah, I know.
Look at us.
This is fall.
It's so funny because thistransition time from the warm

(44:42):
and the morning, I mourn summerbecause it's my favorite.
I really do.
I love summer.
As we're mourning summer andmoving into fall, you're still
want that.
You want the ease of summer, butmaybe that touch of
sophistication in your fallmakeup.
And hopefully today some of ourlisteners got some great tips,
some great tricks, and will beinspired to try less is more as

(45:06):
you transition.
And then we'll do some episodesin the future where we want to
talk about how now I would takethis same face and move in to
say I have a date night or say Ihave a meeting or say I have to
go do something really importantI may want to up this a little
bit and maybe more just a daythat I feel I want to wear a

(45:27):
little more makeup.
What are some things we could doto take it from day into
evening?
You just did it by adding alittle more lip.
I could go in and actually domascara, do a little light,
whatever.
Just know though, I think theone thing our listeners should
take away with this, less ismore as you mature, start to

(45:50):
feel more confident in your ownskin.
If you don't want to wearanything, you don't have to, but
if you want to go for it, do itand know that fall makeup and Or
autumn makeup.
If you're listening in Europe tous, you don't have to pilot on.
It doesn't mean heavy makeup.

(46:11):
It used to, you can still havelight, natural and fresh, but
think of the tones of clothingyou'll wear.
You're wearing a chocolatetoday.
You're going to start to wearcolors that maybe are a little
richer, a little deeper.
So don't be afraid to bump upthe lip to something a little
deeper.
That little nuance can takesomething from summer into fall

(46:32):
like that.
Yeah.
And it feels good, right?
I can, I feel like I can walkaround with this lip on and I'm
not forcing it.
I'm not out there all, I live inLA, so it's like, I just feel, I
feel chic.
I don't have anything.

(46:54):
On my eyes.
I just did a little bit of thatblack liner on the pad when I
curled them.
I just have a little Maxine'sRevenge, the one size on top of
my oil and a lip.
Look at us go.
I hope we've inspired you.
Pull out some of your oldthings.

(47:14):
Pull out some things that youlove and you love to look at.
I was inspired to do this wholelook by this little 1930s
compact that had loose powderand A deeper lip in it.
And I thought, huh, I rememberwhen they use ponds, when ponds
was the first makeup primer whycan't we still do that?

(47:36):
So you bring up a great point, the three products I use today
to, I already have and love, andthey're in my rotation.
And then I added one new thing, you don't have to go and buy a
million new things, pick up oneor two items, think of makeup,
almost like you would clothingfor fall, maybe you buy a new

(47:59):
pair of boots.
But you don't go out and buylike 15 new pairs of shoes,
right?
Maybe you add a new sweater toyour already huge pile of
sweaters, but you don't go outand buy like 12 new sweaters,
unless you had a mothinfestation, which that's a
whole other episode.
I can't even, I can't even.
But yeah, that's a whole otherepisode.
I'm wearing this dress, I'mwearing this dress right now

(48:22):
because I pulled it out and Iput it on and there was a
mystery hole.
So I'm taking everything apartand we may have.
Yeah.
Not an infestation, but one verycountry moth.
Yeah.
Mr.
Cashman?
Where there's one, there's more,I hate to tell you.
I know.
I'm not ready to, I'm not readyto come to terms with that yet.

(48:45):
Yeah.
We'll talk.
I'll give you some moth tipsbeing from the north.
We all deal with them.
Please.
I need moth tips.
But if if you buy one or two newsweaters or a pair of shoes, or,
think about as we get older, weneed less, let's be honest.
We just do.
So if you're only buying acouple of things for fall or for
winter, or you're updating yourwardrobe, it's the same thing
with makeup.
You don't have to go out and buyan entire new fall face.

(49:09):
Those days are over, or that'sfine when you're 20 years old
and you want to fall into allthat.
But.
I think as we get older, youjust want to, I don't know, year
round, 365 days a year, whetherit's fall or summer, spring, I
just want to look my best.
I want to look like me, butbetter.

(49:30):
Amen, sister.
Amen.
All right.
Let us know what you think.
What are you guys doing forfall?
Leave comments.
Tell us.
We love hearing everything.
Let us know.
Have you heard our most recentepisode with Dr.
Nicholas Perricone?
So good.
So good.
And here's the thing.
You don't have to starve andfeel like crap by the time you

(49:53):
get to January.
It's so many people, theyindulge, indulge.
And they just think it doesn'tmatter.
I'm going to feel crappy.
I'm going to have hangovers.
I'm from October to January.
I'm just going to, trudgethrough eat, whatever, give
myself full license.
Okay.
I love the attitude, but how doyou.
When you're getting dressed, howdo you feel going into work?

(50:16):
How do you feel doing the thingsthat you need to do?
How do you feel by the timeThanksgiving gets here and you
have to fit into something?
I see everyone hiding in theirThanksgiving photos or in their
Christmas photos because you'reskin is red from sugar
inflammation.
You're feeling bloated.
By the time you get to newyear's, you probably aren't

(50:37):
wearing the thing that youoriginally wanted to wear
because we're three months inand your body's can't handle it
anymore.
If you do the 28 day challengewith us, we're not saying you
can't go to those parties andeat and drink whatever you want,
you can.
Be good.
And by good, eat whole antiinflammatory foods.
The rest of the season, you'regoing to feel good.

(50:59):
You're going to be glowing.
You'll bounce right back fromthose party nights.
And you can thank Dr.
Perricone for it.
Every day.
The protocol's on our website.
Every day is an antiinflammatory day.
Every day.
Every day.
So it's not a diet.
It's a lifestyle.

(51:22):
And you're going to walk into2025 looking better, but you're
also going to walk into everyholiday party feeling good and
looking good.
Then you can eat and drink yourface off for a day.
Recover, get right back on thehorse, whatever.
If that's your jam, do it.
And you're not going to feellike you were scraped off the

(51:43):
bottom of your Louboutins inJanuary.
It's true.
We've all been there.
We're speaking from experiencehere.
We know.
Bounce back gets harder ladieswith every birthday.
So if you stick to an antiinflammatory lifestyle,
honestly, you don't crave thethings you used to and you don't

(52:04):
have to, you don't feel badever.
It's amazing.
I have such a low tolerance forfeeling bad.
We had guests here over theweekend and I didn't realize, I,
we went out and we did the wholething and the next day I felt
like I had a donkey kicking mein the head.
My joints were cracking likeglow sticks and I was pissy.

(52:28):
I was in a bad mood.
I had to turn myself aroundobviously because we're hosting
and we had guests and one of thewomen that was here, she was
like, I just feel like that allthe time.
And I was like, I can't, she's Ihave a, mild headache.
Most of the time I feel, whatever.
I think everybody just feelssemi crappy.

(52:48):
Most of the time I realized thateven the slightest headache.
I feel it because I'm used tofeeling so good all the time.
We'll have to do an episode,Hill, on, on our anti
inflammatory lifestyles because,um, it's something that's really
important to me.
And it's something thatliterally saved my life years

(53:10):
ago, we should talk more aboutit on another episode, what
we're putting into our bodiesand how that affects, when
someone says, Oh, you have suchbeautiful skin.
I can sit here and honestly tellyou with a straight face.
It's not just what I'm puttingon topically.
And that's what Dr.
Perricone.
You don't have to suffer.
Yep.
You don't have to suffer.
You don't have to deny yourself.

(53:32):
Do I look like I suffer?
No.
No.
Life's too short.
Yeah.
Anyway, we're not intosuffering.
We're not into suffering.
We are not.
No.
Wrong channel.
Change the channel if you thinkthat we like to suffer.
Okay.
Because that's the wrongchannel.
All right.

(53:53):
All right.
Let's save it for anotherepisode.
Let's do it.
All right.
I think listeners hit us up,Instagram.
Tick tock.
Let us know what you think aboutthis episode.
Let us know what you think aboutsome of our tips and tricks.
If you have any suggestions anddo you want to hear about inner
beauty?
What goes into our bodies?

(54:13):
Yeah.
Do you want to see moreapplication like this?
Absolutely.
All right.
Stay glossy, Susan.
Hey, glossy Hill.
Ciao.
Ciao.
