(00:00):
Welcome to Life Gloss, a beautypodcast for sassy and seasoned
women who have lived life andhave a drawer full of lip gloss
to prove it.
Hillary Clark Mina (00:09):
Susan, it's
holiday 2024.
This is our second holiday withLifeGloss.
That's right.
Happy
Susan Gerdeman (00:18):
holidays to you
and everybody.
Cannot believe it's our secondholiday together.
Look at
Hillary Clark Mina (00:27):
us.
Look at us.
It's pretty exciting.
And I was, I was thinking peoplewere asking me, about holiday
and holiday sets and what we do.
I am personally feelingcompletely overwhelmed by
holiday shopping, holidaybuying.
I think it's because I aminvolved with TikTok through my
(00:47):
vintage beauty.
App and right now there'ssomething really interesting
happening.
The brands are testing Tik TOKand Tik TOK shop is testing to
see if it's a good, viable,revenue model.
I think it's being way overdonepersonally in my Opinion.
The thing that's cool about whatthey're doing is TikTok shop is
(01:08):
like opening up and they havethis catalog where micro
influencers and influencers cango and request samples.
So all these people that neverhad access as an influencer to
try free samples now do that'sgood for the brands because they
get UGC user generated content, really genuine user generated
content.
(01:28):
But at the same time, it's alsobad because some of the user
generated content, people don'thave the integrity of people
that have been in the industry.
So everybody's this is the bestwidget you've ever seen.
You have to get this widgetright now.
And like, all of a sudden, thesethings will be trending that
you're like, don't, please don'tdo that.
Please don't do that.
So I'm up to here with holidayand consumerism, but it got me
(01:54):
thinking.
And that's why I'm so glad we'redoing this.
How do we approach the holidaysnow that we're older?
Like for me, I stock upsometimes I'll investigate a
discovery set, or I'll buy maybean expensive device that I've
had my eye on if there's a superdeal.
So it's but I'll, I stock up onmy cashmere, my sequins.
(02:15):
Supplements I hoard the thingsthat I know I go through.
I'll tiptoe into not reallycommitting with a Discovery set.
But it's rare that there's anexclusive that comes out that I
must have.
That used to happen.
Do you remember when we had tohave these things because they
were so cool?
Susan Gerdeman (02:35):
It's so funny.
I went and had a mammogram thismorning, which, by the way, if
you've not had your mammogramthis year, this is a public
service announcement, to please.
Get your mammogram.
It will save your life.
Shout out to Lindsey who didthat for me today.
She asked me when I was gettingmy mammogram, she said the woman
who did it, I told her about ourpodcast and what we do and
Beauty Over 40, etc.
(02:57):
And I said, we're going to betalking about holidays today and
what holidays mean as we getolder.
How we approach them and shesaid, Oh, what are some of the
beauty trends?
What are some of the trends?
And I looked at her and I said,I have to be honest with you.
Trends become less important theolder you get.
It's not that we don't keep oureye on them and we're obviously
(03:18):
influenced them, influenced bythem like most people are.
And it has a trickle downeffect.
But to your point, I think as weget older, you start to block
out the noise.
I'm not interested in trend.
I'm interested in what I havetime to do, what works on me,
because now I know who I am andwhat works on me and what
doesn't.
(03:39):
I don't have to pretend to besomebody I'm not.
I want to be comfortable.
I want it quick and easy.
So we're going to.
Do some makeup as we talk in aminute and show people some
things that we do now to lookand feel our best.
And if you don't want to get offthe sofa this holiday season,
that is your prerogative.
You earned it.
You're over 40.
You could do whatever the hellyou want.
But I think trends are reallysomething we don't pay as much
(04:01):
attention to.
And I also think to your point,Hill, the gift sets are great.
If a gift sets of value, I thinkyou should do it.
If a gift set is not a value, what's the point?
Do we need more plastic?
Do I need another bag orcardboard box or free tote?
No, I don't.
So I think the consumerism partof the holidays, we've gotten
(04:21):
more discerning.
As we get older to pick andchoose.
I think to your point, I didsome damage during the sales.
It's interesting because ourindustry never in the past ever
discounted beauty.
Cosmetics never went on saleever.
(04:41):
It wasn't until recently youstarted seeing this.
So blue Mercury is having a saleright now.
I did some purchasing there.
Sephora just had their hugesale.
Violet.
Great.
Yeah, Neiman's, Credo Saks,Macy's, and even the brands.
I don't know if you've beengetting this stuff.
Yes, I made a whole list.
Hillary Clark Mina (05:04):
Yes.
Victoria Beckham, Tata HarperTypology, Violet Gray, as we
said, like everybody is doingsome sort of a sale and I feel
like, yeah, that's why it's goodto stock up, but right.
And that's, I agree with you,
Susan Gerdeman (05:20):
wasting.
That's what I did.
I stocked up.
So I got all my skincare, mybeauty, I stocked up.
I got some gifts, some stockingstuffers, some little things for
friends and whatnot.
And I'm doing it that way, butit's funny, we're now I'm
thinking about beauty, how Ithink about clothing and
accessories and shoes and allthat.
(05:41):
I'm not paying full price, Inever thought I would say that.
But it's You get in this mindsetof, especially for us, we know
the cost of goods.
I could tell you the cost ofgoods on every product we talk
about, but I'm not going to dothat.
Cause that's not fair.
Cause there's more to it.
There's more behind the scenesthan just, we could do a whole
episode on that.
But when you know the cost ofgoods of something.
(06:01):
It is hard to pay full price forit.
So it's now become I'm notpaying full price for my beauty,
my skincare, even my shampoos.
And I've been posting onInstagram, for those of you that
follow us on life gloss podcaston Instagram and Hillary's
laughing because yes, I'mfinally doing it.
And I did something fun thisyear.
And I actually purchased theLiberty advent calendar.
(06:23):
I took a bullet for Hillary andI and made that grand purchase
and I have to tell you I'mhaving fun So tune in if you
follow us on Instagram every dayI'm going to tell you what's in
there and it's funny because itwas a huge value.
I'm going to be honest with youyou get a lot for the price and
a lot of full size items, butIt's some of the stuff I'm going
(06:44):
to keep and then some of it I'mputting aside into a bag that's
going to be stocking stuff forhis little gifts to friends,
babysitters, dog walkers, themail person, et cetera, you can
give away these little things.
So if you do something like thatto any of our listeners that are
doing advent calendars orthey're doing or they get gift
with purchase or any of theseitems on sale, have a bag that
(07:05):
you can put the stuff that youdon't like, or that's not good
for you, or you're not going touse it.
And gift it to someone else, because I think the days of the
stigma of re gifting are over, especially if you're honest
about it.
I got this, I don't use it, it'snot for me, and I'd love for you
to have it.
I'm not just gonna throw outsomething that's a beauty
(07:25):
product.
So yeah, there's
Hillary Clark Mina (07:27):
absolutely
no stigma, especially now that,
sustainability is such a bigdeal.
I have to tell you one of thebiggest things that I've been
doing all season, and I thinkI'm going to create a little, I
have created a little adventcalendar for it, is I've been
crazy busy filling vintagecompacts for people.
I'm like, this, yes, this is ashameless plug, but make, A
(07:48):
compact for someone.
This is a piece of jewelry thathas lasted forever.
Put a magnet in it, fill it withpans.
And I customize, you can just gopeek in somebody's makeup bag
and we can fill something sobeautiful.
Or even like one of these littleguys, I'm a huge advocate of.
(08:09):
Giving people vintage it couldbe books like give them a
collection of first collectionfirst edition books or Something
like that.
It's I feel like as we get olderit becomes less about you know
Ripping through paper and justhaving a bunch of junk.
We've become hoarders I think inthis society, the long, the
(08:31):
longer I've been alive, the moreI'm like, why does everyone have
15 of everything?
You don't need eighthighlighters.
You don't need nine Brontorpencils.
You don't need, just becauseit's new doesn't mean you have
to have it.
You're actually not missing outon a single thing.
And yeah, and I think that'sthe,
Susan Gerdeman (08:50):
that's, if I can
put in another plug for you your
compacts, your vintage compactsthat you do are so beautiful and
make such a great gift.
But.
I have to tell you that I agreewith you.
I think people want things thatare personal, something, made
from the heart, somethinghandmade is lovely and a really
(09:13):
beautiful gesture.
And I just think that we'vegotten to the point now where
we're so inundated with socialmedia and we're so inundated
with get this, buy this, pushingthings on people.
We share what we love.
We share what we don't lovebecause nobody owns us.
(09:34):
No one's sponsoring us.
So we just say what we like, what we don't like, and what
works for us.
Generally speaking, people needto take the time to slow down
and not hit Cart purchase onevery single, influencer that's
out there telling us to purchasethis.
We're not influencers.
We're content creators.
(09:54):
We are podcasters.
We're not here to influenceanyone because I can't even get
out of my own freaking way.
So don't follow me becauseyou're going nowhere if you do
that.
But I think you can takesuggestions.
You can take tips.
You can take advice.
I really truly believe that Ihope women over 40 and men over
40 are getting more discerningwith the Tik Toks and the
(10:16):
Instagrams of the world andsaying, that's nice.
That looks great on that person.
That's good for them.
Do I need it?
Do I want it?
Is it going to change my life?
If the answer is no, dosomething else with your money.
Put it in the bank, give it tocharity, whatever.
I'm not going to be the moralpolice for the holidays, but
you'd be surprised what you cando without.
(10:38):
And then If there is somethingthat you find interesting, you
really love or you want to knowmore about it, tune into our
podcast.
We'll tell you all about it.
We'll tell you if it's a productthat's worth it or that you like
it and take it from there.
But that's what we want to dotoday is give some of these
really quick and easy tips andknow that you can go into your
(10:58):
makeup drawer.
You'd be surprised what you havein there.
You don't necessarily have torun out and buy a whole new
holiday makeup look.
Or everything that's new, youcan use what you have.
And that's what we're doing.
We're going to show you how todo your makeup in five minutes,
from day to night, or just, whenyou want to go out, of things
that we already have.
There's nothing here that's newthat I'm using.
There's nothing here that'ssuper trending right now.
(11:22):
There are some great, funthings, especially if you're
maybe a younger person and youwant something fun, you want the
glitter, you want the bells andwhistles, you want the cute
things, that's fine, but forthose of us that are getting
from point A to point B andtrying to do it and stay alive
at the same time, we're going togive you some tips today how to
do that.
Hillary Clark Mina (11:41):
I love it.
I love it.
And everyone has the things inyour makeup kit And you've had
them forever.
I mean if I were to say, fiveEssentials that I would have I
would encourage everyone to Lookfor a red or red adjacent,
pardon me, I would have everyonelook for a red or red adjacent
(12:05):
lip that's going to work on yourlips and your cheeks.
Look for anything that isdarker, sootier, smuttier,
sluttier for the eyes.
That could be a bronzy, a black,a gray, A pencil, a cream
shadow, a shadow in a pan, apowder is going to last forever,
(12:27):
that's going to go anywhere andeverywhere.
Then look for anything gold andsilvery, champagne, shadow,
cream, whatever.
Those three things can make yourskin sparkle, it gives you a
little zhuzh for the holidays.
And that's it.
And I guarantee every singleperson has those.
(12:49):
You don't need to go out and buynew stuff.
No,
Susan Gerdeman (12:54):
exactly.
I believe in the same thing, alittle highlight, a little
lippy, and maybe something withthe eye if you want it.
I have on a little bit ofconcealer and a little bit of a
blush, actually a new blush I'mtrying.
It's been around for a long timeand I pulled the trigger on it.
I always thought it wasbeautiful.
It's the Kevin Aucoin.
I don't know if you've seenthis.
(13:16):
Oh yeah, I love that one becauseit gives you peach to pink.
Yeah, it's called Rose Cliff, the Neo Blush and it actually
has your highlighter and yourblush and like a contour blush
all in one and then you swipe ittogether.
I got it on a sample sale and Ihave to tell you, I had my eye
on it for years and I neverpulled the trigger.
(13:36):
So I just have a little bit ofthat on as blush and a little
bit of concealer and that's it.
So that's like my day, right?
And I put some lip balm onbecause I'm going to now toss on
a red lip and I'm going to showyou how you can go from really
just having nothing on to justputting on a red lip and watch
(13:58):
how we do it at the same
Hillary Clark Mina (13:59):
time
Susan Gerdeman (13:59):
go into holiday.
It's so easy.
Like a red lip just does it all, does it all.
Hillary Clark Mina (14:05):
So for those
of you that are thinking like,
Ooh, I can't do a red lip.
I don't want to do a red lip.
It gets messy.
It doesn't last.
One of the most modern.
One of those modern chic ways towear a red lip is to have it be
undefined.
It doesn't have to be perfect.
Susan Gerdeman (14:21):
No, God, no.
If you have time to make aperfect red lip call me.
Cause I got things that you cando for me.
Hillary Clark Mina (14:26):
I've got
things.
I'm going to use a littlesomething that's just this is a
little ridiculous, but it was agift for my birthday.
Was it?
It was.
Can you imagine who?
I can't.
Who would love me enough to giveme something that they know I
(14:47):
would Never buy an Hermeslipstick for myself but not only
that Because it's fun to treatyour girlfriends to things that
I think an Hermes Lipstick is alittle ridiculous, but it's
really fun to receive as a gift,
Susan Gerdeman (15:01):
but they're
really good.
I have to tell you They'rereally
Hillary Clark Mina (15:04):
good, it's
really fun If you're gonna buy
one lipstick That's it.
What's really fun is that youchose a color, I would, you
chose a red, I haven't wornsince high school, and I forgot
how much I like them.
I don't know when I went off theorange reds, but I did.
And I What's been, what's wrongwith me?
(15:24):
They're so pretty.
Susan Gerdeman (15:25):
I have to tell
you, I stare at your face often
and I think sometimes we forget, and that's a great tip too.
It really doesn't have anythingto do with the holidays, but
sometimes asking your friends orfamily or someone who's known
you a long time, does this lookgood on me?
What do you think about this?
You'd be surprised having adifferent set of eyes.
(15:49):
We've been in this industry ourwhole life, and this is all we
do is color and beauty, butsometimes taking a step back and
having someone else look at you,it's amazing what they see.
And I just saw you in a verywarm orange, warm, chilly,
(16:11):
Beautiful, delicious red lip,but with some warmth to it.
Because you have a gorgeous warmcast through your skin.
You have the green eyes, and youhave the warmth of your
highlights.
And I just thought, I never seeher in anything this color.
And I think it would be reallybeautiful on her.
You gotta do things for yourfriends.
I love it.
(16:32):
And look at what I'm doing.
And I have to tell you, theHermes lipsticks, friends, are
an investment.
But if you say to yourself, should I buy 15 of X lipstick or
should I buy one really greatone in a color that I love?
I have to tell you, they did agreat job on the line of
lipsticks.
I don't love everything in theline, I'll be honest.
(16:53):
And we could do a breakdown onit some other time.
There's a few misses.
but the lips are really good.
The lips really
Hillary Clark Mina (17:00):
pretty.
Susan Gerdeman (17:01):
Yeah.
Hillary Clark Mina (17:01):
I didn't
care for the complexion, the
tinted thing, moisturizer, skinthing.
Susan Gerdeman (17:05):
No.
No, and I don't love the blushesare too dry.
I could go on and on with thethings I don't like, but we
don't want to be negative on aholiday show, but there's a lot
in the Hermes line of beautythat is right.
The lips, the nails, I have totell you.
Gorgeous and make cute littlestocking stuffers too.
(17:26):
And no, we're not sponsored byHermes.
I wish if anyone from Hermes islistening.
Hillary Clark Mina (17:31):
I don't
think they're going to sponsor
us because I also started aridiculous holiday list for us.
And one of the things that I puton the ridiculous list, did you
know that you can go and buy twonail files that say Hermes on
them for 57?
Susan Gerdeman (17:47):
Okay.
Hillary Clark Mina (17:47):
So
Susan Gerdeman (17:48):
again, Hermes,
if you're listening, we love you
come sponsor us.
I'm just kidding.
All right.
So the lip I'm going to put onand show you how you can go from
literally a little bit ofblushing concealer.
This is what I look like in theday run out the door.
I'm going to show a differencein color too.
I'm using a different red thanyou.
I'm using a merit lipstick.
(18:09):
It's newer brand.
I like merit lips.
I think they did a good job.
I love their cream blushers astoo.
This color is called power andit is a very rich kind of.
I'll put it on.
Ooh, that's pretty.
It's a true red.
It is not warm, not cool.
(18:34):
It's like a real classic neutralred.
Did you hear that?
That's like lipstick, lipstickvoiceover there.
That's what you sound like whenyou're putting lipstick on and
talking, but it's a true.
Classic red.
It's not cool.
It's not warm.
It's just a real neutral.
(18:54):
It almost has a 1950s feel.
Yes, it does.
It's, I love this color.
I love this red.
It goes, I could see thisworking on anybody truly just
wants a good old plain red.
There's no shimmer.
It's creamy.
It's not too shiny.
And I have a trick foreverybody.
(19:15):
Always put a lip balm down firston your lips and then blot it
off when doing a red lip.
Trust us.
It'll go on a lot better.
And then after you put your redon, take your finger and it's
messy, but just like Hillary'sdoing too, I go over it and I
(19:36):
smudge the lipstick and insteadof blotting, I like to smudge
it.
And, This just gives that kindof not perfect, I guess now they
call it a French girl lip, but Ithink they mean is it's just a
pretty pop of color.
(19:56):
It just gives you not fussy.
Hillary Clark Mina (19:59):
Yeah, it's
not fussy.
And that's what I'm doing.
I'm putting my money where mymouth is because I went from
telling you guys that you haveit and you own it.
You don't need it to applyingHermes, which I get the
disconnect, but it was abirthday gift.
From my beloved pod partner.
So yeah, look, you guys, everybody has a red cream blush
or a red lip.
(20:20):
I melted it, put it into a panand here we go.
And all I put in here just sopeople can see, and I
intentionally mix this littlecenter guy with my.
Blush and with my bronzer Thisis just any old red you can put
in here.
This is a blotting balm Soinstead of a powder I use a
(20:41):
blotting balm and I can blend itif I want more of a diffused
blotting pink This is the chanelcream bronzer.
Oh pretty.
We love that and then
Susan Gerdeman (20:51):
a
Hillary Clark Mina (20:51):
little
concealer a little eye sparkler
and I made this really prettygray It's like an eye soot.
I need to make you one and sendyou, Susan, because I'm pretty
proud of this formula.
Oh, I like that.
Susan Gerdeman (21:06):
So here I am.
I didn't buy a thing.
Yeah, exactly.
You don't need to buy a thing.
So here I am.
This is probably What I would dofor I have on a little, cozy
little sweater, with a t shirtSo if I get hot I can take it
off I put on some holidayearrings and a red lip this for
(21:28):
me would be holidays at homeThis would be a party with
friends I'm done when I wear ared lip, I 99 percent of the
time put nothing on my eyes.
I like a little bit of a flushon the cheek and a red lip and
nothing on my eyes.
So that creates a balance andthe red is enough, as we get
(21:48):
older, we don't want to have toomuch happening in both areas.
So I tend to pick, do I want tofocus on the eyes?
Do I want to focus on the lips?
That being said, if you want to,you can always do a little flick
on the eyes, which I can showyou if you want.
But I just love just abeautiful, what we call a nude
or naked eye and red lip.
(22:08):
It is the classic, beautifulfall, evening, winter.
Summer with a tan holiday.
It's just a beautiful look onhonestly anybody.
Then if I want to get fancy, I'mgoing to take my highlighter.
I love the Westman Atelier.
I do talk about them a lot.
I know, but I do love the lithighlight stick.
(22:33):
I like it because it has thisbeautiful, like a pinky purpley
undertone to it.
And it's a sheer highlight and Ijust love it on the brow bone
and I love it on the cheekaround the eye down the nose.
I love this color because itjust gives a very sheer,
(22:57):
Highlight, but with no shimmerand no sparkle just a glow from
within but it is a pink bluebase So just be aware of that if
you have a deeper skin tone
Hillary Clark Mina (23:08):
Save it for
evening.
Don't do it during the day.
It'll break down your it'llbreak down your spf
Susan Gerdeman (23:17):
Yeah for
evening.
Hillary Clark Mina (23:18):
It's
beautiful.
Susan Gerdeman (23:19):
Yeah, but it
definitely has a an undertone of
a blue and a pink.
So on a deeper skin tone, you'redefinitely gonna see that on a
lighter skin tone, you're notgonna see that color as much.
But I love it both ways.
I'll be honest with you.
Just know what you're gettingwith this product.
It's a highlight that does that.
(23:40):
Here's other highlights that hathat don't have that undertone.
So if you don't want that, youdon't have to have that.
So that's it.
A little highlight, a littlelip.
A little fun earring, a cozysweater, and I don't know I'm on
to the sofa for the holidays tobe horizontal for a while.
But if I want to add a littledrama to the eye, say I wanted
to do that, I would probably adda really pretty smoky pencil.
(24:06):
I like the Urban Decay 24 7.
I like it in a fun color likeRockstar.
A little different than just ablack.
I Looks really fun.
Looks really pretty.
Of course, I love the VictoriaBeckham pencils too.
But then everybody was talkingabout the Fenty the black, the
liquid pen.
And I think
Hillary Clark Mina (24:24):
Yeah, what
do
Susan Gerdeman (24:25):
you think?
Yeah, I have to tell you the tipon it is magnificent.
I think it's really nice.
I can put a little bit on if youwant.
Let me turn to magnifying sidethough.
Otherwise, it'll just be bad foreverybody.
It has a really nice tip to it.
I am not a huge liquid eyelinerperson anymore.
(24:51):
And I'm really not superinterested in black anymore on
my eyes.
But if I'm gonna do it, I wouldjust do a little bit in the
outer corners to do a little funlift.
And it's probably something Iwould just do at night.
But see, cute, right?
(25:11):
It just, and I just do the outercorner with a little lift.
It's not something I would bereaching for often just because
it's not my look, but on theright person, I love a really
heavy black liquid eyeliner onme.
I just like it.
(25:32):
on the outer corners for alittle kick, just a little kick.
Hillary Clark Mina (25:39):
Yeah, I have
a whole cheat strategy because
my lip, my, I was spoiled byhaving, such almond shaped I
guess they call them like foxeyes forever.
And now they're, So I have allkinds of cheats for when I'm
doing something like super blacktie.
Yeah.
I employ my some of my 60sglamorama style.
Susan Gerdeman (26:03):
Yeah, this is
definitely more of a 60s kind of
just putting it on the outercorners.
Hillary Clark Mina (26:10):
Oh, Sophia
Loren had some great tips that I
start to employ and I love it.
Love it.
Yeah.
Susan Gerdeman (26:17):
A little lift
Hillary Clark Mina (26:18):
and then,
and you don't have to be, you
don't even, you don't have to beall that precise.
There's something really lovelyabout it being unfussy.
Like I just picked up with thislittle flat smudgy brush.
I just picked up a little bit ofthis cream, like soot that I
made.
Yeah.
And if you guys were watchingearlier, I just.
Wiggled it into my lash line todo like a liner and then Later,
(26:43):
just to show you guys adifference, I just pulled it
back across the lid.
And if you're looking at me,it's Oh, she has something on
and she made an effort and it'scool, but it's effortless.
And I even took what was leftover and never underestimate the
leftover makeup on your brush.
(27:06):
That's been worked into thebristles.
It's going to be really light.
I'm not one that really goesunder my eyes with makeup ever,
but now this case, I just tookwhat was left over and I thought
maybe why not?
Susan Gerdeman (27:21):
Yeah.
Sometimes I, I love a goodsmoky, messy, heavy eye.
It's one of my favorite looks, but I would not do it with a
red.
It's too much for me.
For someone else, they, they canrock that all
Hillary Clark Mina (27:37):
they
Susan Gerdeman (27:37):
want.
I
Hillary Clark Mina (27:37):
can do, I'll
do it sometimes, but I'll only
do it if my skin is super clean.
Oh my God.
Yes.
Yeah.
Cause no makeup on the skinreally.
Susan Gerdeman (27:46):
So I just did a
little bit of the black.
Can you see?
Yes.
On the corners.
With a little lift, a littlekick, and a little one coat of
mascara on the top, and then thered.
It doesn't look like there's alot of eye makeup fighting with
the red lip, but this definitelytook it that one step more,
(28:10):
glamor,
Hillary Clark Mina (28:11):
glamor.
So what is the, what's the moralof the story here, Susan, just
reach into your bag, see whatyou've got and test drive
things.
Like test drive things.
Like I'm going to the postoffice in the grocery store.
Right now.
Yeah,
Susan Gerdeman (28:30):
got shit to do,
Suze.
Okay yeah, I should have wornthis makeup to my mammogram.
Hillary Clark Mina (28:34):
I, I don't
know.
But, I live in Los Angeles andsometimes, and especially my
post office people know me.
So she'll be like, what are youdoing?
Yeah, she'll be like, what'sgoing on,
Susan Gerdeman (28:45):
Bill?
You look great.
Oh my god, I should go pick upthe kids from school like this.
You should.
I double dog dare you.
Wait, do you love this?
Yes.
Yes.
Look, okay, so now look, I putmy hair up.
Yeah, I think I was solvingworld peace over here.
So I know I have my earrings andI have my little
Hillary Clark Mina (29:06):
makeup.
What do you think?
I
Susan Gerdeman (29:07):
think
Hillary Clark Mina (29:08):
oh, I think
you should I think you should
flirt with your husband Send hima photo and just don't say
anything.
Just send him that what he would
Susan Gerdeman (29:16):
say he would say
who's this
Hillary Clark Mina (29:19):
Why don't
you say why don't you come home
and find out big boy?
Susan Gerdeman (29:22):
Oh my god Yeah,
that's exactly what we're gonna
why don't you
Hillary Clark Mina (29:25):
take her to
dinner and find out it looks
like me
Susan Gerdeman (29:29):
There you go.
Yeah.
Woohoo.
Wait, and then I can take mylittle Yeah.
Folder look.
Yeah.
Hillary Clark Mina (29:37):
Now I'm
ready to, I dare you to,
Susan Gerdeman (29:38):
I dare you.
Flirt with your husband.
Send it to him.
Okay.
We'll see what happens.
He'll be too cold.
I'll keep you posted, but yeah, this is, I, you know what?
I'm gonna stay like this.
So when the kids come home fromschool, yeah.
They're gonna be like yeah.
Hi.
Where's
Hillary Clark Mina (29:54):
mom?
You want to know what your kidsforget.
Sometimes I think that sometimesyour kids forget that like we
were this before
Susan Gerdeman (30:06):
you were their
mom.
Oh my God.
We were this and so much more.
But this is all we can share.
That's all we can share.
That's all we're sharing.
That's all we're sharing.
But yeah, for those who, watchus on our pod or listen to us
and then watch us on ourpodcast.
Here you go.
Here's here's what we look likejust hanging out at home.
(30:26):
This is what we look like everyday.
No, not at all.
But that's what the holidays arefor.
Toss up your hair, toss on a redlip, toss on something cozy and
sexy and fun.
Toss on the earrings you neverwear anymore.
Just, I don't know, shop yourcloset, shop your beauty, have
something for yourself.
Hillary Clark Mina (30:46):
Especially,
you have to remember, we were
alive in like the 90s and theearly aughts.
We had some of the best clothes.
I still have them.
I do too.
I have pulled out a littlecorset vest.
Like a like a little VivianWestwood.
Let's go.
And I was like, Huh?
(31:09):
What do you know?
Who's that?
A Mugler jacket I put on theother night.
And I was like, this man ruledthe runway for a reason.
Susan Gerdeman (31:19):
And
Hillary Clark Mina (31:20):
I'm telling
you, I've been wearing all these
things because I've had allkinds of stuff going on the
past, ever since October, we'vejust had things going on.
And I've been shopping mycloset, wearing my 90s stuff.
And I love it.
And Pete, the whole room stopsbecause they're not used to
seeing structure silhouette.
(31:42):
And quality.
Susan Gerdeman (31:45):
And then
Hillary Clark Mina (31:45):
unfussy
makeup.
Unfussy
Susan Gerdeman (31:48):
makeup.
Look at us.
Where are we going?
Let's go somewhere.
I
Hillary Clark Mina (31:53):
wish we were
closer.
We'd go get into trouble.
We
Susan Gerdeman (31:55):
just leave a
note.
A note on someone's windshield.
No, a note for our families.
Yeah, on my car windshield.
Yeah, you just say, Hillary'sdriving.
Hillary's driving.
We'll be back.
We'll be back later.
Oh, that'd be fun.
With a capital L, like youfigure it out.
(32:17):

things, old things.
As well as serious.
Yeah.
As well as fun and funny andhave a good time.
(33:02):
This is just beauty.
Remember that this holidays whenyou're with, beauty runs
Hillary Clark Mina (33:07):
deep.
We have Dr.
Anne.
We have Dr.
Perricone.
There's something very specialabout self care.
So we don't mean to diminishthat, but you have to just have
fun with it too.
Susan Gerdeman (33:18):
You have to.
Yeah.
Listen, if you're not havingfun, You're not living
Hillary Clark Mina (33:26):
and feathers
and be ridiculous.
Oh, I'm going to my mom's for afew days and I'm going into her
closet.
I have to take a bunch of stuff.
We exchange, every now and then.
And so I'm going to go and pickup a bunch of my grandmother's
stuff.
And I'm bringing my mom somedresses that, I just am not
(33:49):
going to wear.
So I'm taking a whole, we'redriving.
So I'm taking a trunk full ofsequins to the redhead.
And I'm just coming back withher.
Susan Gerdeman (34:01):
I love that
sentence.
A trunk full of sequins.
That just makes me so happy.
A trunk full of sequins.
Why not?
Hillary Clark Mina (34:12):
Yeah,
paillettes and beads and sequins
and life is short where thesequins where I've done most of
my 1950s filming and into someof the 60s and even some of the,
yeah, some of the other periodpiece stuff that came my way
last year and I'm like, I filmedin it.
(34:33):
I don't need, and I've done thehistory on it.
So I don't need it in my closet.
And who's going to wear it?
My mother will wear that.
The woman has holiday parties.
Lined up and she will wear theshe will wear it.
I love it

Hillary Clark Mina (35:13):
you're in
the sweats, try a little
lingerie underneath, see whathappens.
Why not?
Susan Gerdeman (35:19):
Hil, you are
really working that angle today,
let me tell you.
I love it.
I know.
Maybe I should think about that.
Hillary Clark Mina (35:27):
Yeah.
Before
Susan Gerdeman (35:28):
you speak.
Hillary Clark Mina (35:30):
I'm just
saying, burn the candles, eat
from the dish, from the fancychinaware.
Perfume put on.
'cause we all have that drawerand we never touch it.
And it's like you have beautifullittle bras and things that are
so pretty and lacy and sometimesI just will throw one on with,
cashmere sweatshirt.
I'm like, huh, that was nice.
Really, it's gonna see it.
Susan Gerdeman (35:51):
That's right.
Reclaim it.
Again, that's the beauty ofgetting older.
You just, you care about theimportant things.
You don't care about the thingsthat are no longer serving you.
You really don't give a shitanymore.
And that is the privilege andthe pleasure of getting older.
Hillary Clark Mina (36:13):
Happy
holidays.

Susan Gerdeman (36:17):
Now go put a bow
on yourself.
