Stuart and his son Sam have never been big sharers, but they've always connected over movies, and Stuart has always worked hard to expand Sam's cinematic horizons. Each episode, Stuart picks a movie for them to discuss, the idea being to deepen their appreciation for the chosen film, and maybe learn a little something about each other along the way. --- If you like the show, be sure to rate, review, and subscribe on your favorite podcatcher. After almost a year and half, we return to discuss John Huston's 1948 classic The Treasure of the Sierra Madre. We discuss the movie’s timeless but trite theme, which of us would lose it first in a similar scenario, and best of all, the novel’s elusive author, B. Traven.

After a lengthy break induced by various technical issues and my (Sam's) erratic landlady's wifi debacle, we're back for a not-so-quick check-in. This episdoe, Dad and I don't talk about a specific movie, but rather spend the time catching up on what we've been watching lately, the movies that we're formative for us as kids, and the conspicious pattern of Jewish movies that begin inside the body.

Stories We Tell is a documentary conceived and directed by Sarah Polley about how stories determine how we think of ourselves and our place in the world. At first, the movie seems to be a movie about Sarah's mother. And it is, kind of. But it takes a turn part way through that's impossible to see coming. We highly recommend watching it before you listen to the episode.

We talk Milos Forman's Hair; dancing horses, dancing hippies, and of course, fellatio.

Dad picks Take Shelter, which he's been trying to get me to watch for about 130 years. In response, I throw him a curve-ball in Martian Child, which is, as the saying goes, one weird mamma-jamma of a movie.
