Right here, who's not just apowerhouse on paper, she's a
walking talking testimony aboutthe power of speaking life,
honey.
She's the author of the Powerof I Am 21 Days of Affirming you
(01:55):
, a must-have for anybody who'sready to break the cycle of
negative self-talk and step intothe truth of who God says you

Okay, a title she wears well.
(02:38):
So listen linda.
Yes, thank you, welcome, awelcome, a friend, a sister, a
woman of God's own heart, missAngela Anderson to the stage.
Wow.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
Jacqueline, oh my
goodness, that is an honor, that
introduction in itself.
My friend, thank you so muchfor having me on your show.
I am super, duper excited andnot only that to be one of your
25 of 2025 authors.
July edition honored, justhonored, no words.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Well, you know, I was
first introduced to you by Dr
Velma, who is I call her Mama V,that is my mama, that is
grandmama, okay, that isgrandmama, okay, the California
grandmama.
And when she was like, oh, yougot to check out Angela Anderson
, I added you and I was like, oh, I got to have her honey, I
(03:36):
know.
I got to look.
I'm on the stage, honey, looking for this book and I
cannot find it.
But when I find it I'm going topost it and post a picture with
it.
I actually bought the book, honey, oh, thank you.
So, girl, you got to excuse andthat's why y'all see this
background right here, honey, because I can't let y'all see my
office.
Y'all is a mess.
(03:58):
But before we get started or goany further, I always open in
prayer.
So, started or go any further,I always open in prayer.
So I definitely want to do thatfirst so we can bless the room
child.
So, father God, we thank youfor this moment, for this
connection and for thisopportunity to grow together.
Lord God, bless Angela as shepours into us today.
Let her words reach the earsthat need to hear them the most,
(04:22):
lord God, and let somebody walkaway from this conversation
ready to speak life overthemselves in Jesus' mighty,
mighty name.
Amen, amen, amen, amen, amen.
Okay, so, angela, for those whomight not know you and other
(04:43):
than what I've already said, tell us who Angela Anderson is
in your own words.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Oh, wow.
Well, Angela Anderson is awoman of God.
I am a wife, I am a mother, I'ma daughter, I am a friend.
Of course, I'm an author, acontent creator, an influence, a
literary coach, a mentor, aneditor just all the things.
(05:10):
I love the creative space.
I love just being able to pourinto other individuals.
I love just having thatpositive mindset and just being
able to walk in who God createdme to be.
That's, that's me in a, in anutshell, and, jacqueline, you
(05:33):
can probably say the same.
It's always harder when peopleyou know, when you're kind of
like saying things aboutyourself.
It's so much easier to saygreat things about other people.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
Yes, and somebody
asked me about me.
I'm like up, up, up, up, up, up, up, up, up up when reading
your book.
Okay, this is the firstquestion I definitely want to
ask what inspired you to createa 21-day affirmation journey and
why did you choose thatspecific format?
(06:04):
Because a lot of people theychoose 30 days, so what prompted
you to do a 21 day?
Speaker 3 (06:11):
Well, first of all,
jacqueline, thank you for asking
that question, and there is arunning joke.
I know you are familiar withPat Simmons.
Pat Simmons is also one of the25 or 2025 authors of July
edition, and so I have aliterary, we have a show, not
necessarily a literary show wehave a show called Fun Friday
with the Girls and, oh mygoodness, hi Jennifer, thank you
(06:32):
for joining us.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Hey Robin.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
I'm Robin from the
Peeps.
Thank you, thank you guys somuch for joining us.
And so they have a running joke.
They're like Angela, you owe usnine more days.
Where is the other nine days?
(07:06):
But for me, jacqueline, the 21days challenge, or they go
through their 21 day journeythat even after that, they would
have created a habit, and everyday they are showing up for
themselves, they are speaking upfor themselves, they are being
creative, they are saying thatit is okay to show up for myself
on a daily basis.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
So that's how that 21
day got in there.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
Now that title the
Power of I Am is so bold.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Right.
How did you decide which I amstatements would make it into
the book?
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Well, pretty much
with this particular book, the
Power of power I am we'll startwith the title um, again, it's
twofold.
I mean, first of all, the lewissays you know, I am the, I am
um, or what have you.
But think about, uh, thatdefining moment of things that
comes after the word I am, um,when you are speaking things
(08:03):
into existence, I am, am, andthen whatever comes after that
is so bold and it's so powerful.
Whatever you put after that, whether it's positive or
negative, I choose to put thepositive or what have you for
that.
And so for me it was importantto make that statement, for
people to know that it's okay, you know that the power of I am
(08:26):
and the importance of all thethings that come after I am as
as well.
So, um, in writing thisparticular book, it was actually
um, put inside of me, um, eightyears prior, about to be nine
years prior now, um, and so itwas one of those things where
you know how sometimes the Lordwould give you a gift or give
(08:47):
you something and you will start.
And so I actually started thisbook and I ended on day eight.
I was like, okay, I'm gonna getback to it.
And it was like eight yearslater and it was like Angela,
the time is now you have to tellthe people, or what have you?
And so when I sat down, it wasa Saturday, I never forget.
I sat down at the computer, Ipulled it up and, jacqueline,
(09:09):
you probably know, as an author,I mean everything begins in a
flow.
I mean my hands was just typing, I knew what I was going to do,
I knew what statements I wasgoing to use.
The thought for the day, eachday, that came to me as well,
and before I knew it I was atthe end of the book.
I had some trusted otherindividuals.
(09:29):
I reached out with them and Iwas like I finished my book and
they was like wait, what I was, like I'm done.
But of course you know afterthat, you know it had to go to
the editor, all that stuff to be.
You know all the behind thescenes of putting a book
together.
So I did go through all ofthose things the cover design, I
mean all the things that gointo putting a book together.
(09:50):
It was just an amazing, amazingprocess.
It was work, but it was aprocess that I really enjoyed
and I was so happy to be able toput this out into the world.
I even had some trusted earlyreaders that even in the
beginning of the book, it's likesome of the things that they
had to say about the book.
So they got the book in likethis raw form and they was able
to read it and they was able to,you know, to endorse the book
(10:12):
as well.
So there you have it the Powerof I Am 21 Days of Affirming you
, and you know what it was agreat book.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
It was a great read,
and one thing I love about, like
affirmation books or, you know,self-help books and devotional
books, they're not always sosuper big.
So, you know, have to process alot, and I saw that you have
you have, because I have itsomewhere, but you have 64 pages
.
Every word counts, though, guys.
Ok, why was it so important toyou to keep it short, sweet and
(10:41):
powerful?
Speaker 3 (10:48):
are sweet and
powerful.
One of the things for me tokeep this book short and also
stand with the 21 days.
Okay, think about it,jacqueline.
We busy, everybody busy, theyjust busy.
So think about if you've gotsomething that's quick in the
morning, when you're doing yourmeditation, when you're reading
your word, when you're spendingtime with the Lord, when you're
first getting up in the morning.
That's usually a busy time forpeople.
So, hey, I mean you can takeabout three minutes.
(11:09):
Three minutes, guys, I mean ifit want to take you longer, if
you want to kind of go in deeperand take notes and stuff like
that, but it will not take youlong to read one of the days,
read the day, read the quote, goto the thought of the day, you
on to the next thing.
Or you may want to do it atnight, right before you go to
bed.
What are you pouring into yourspirit?
Same thing, it is in and outand it's a powerful burst of
(11:31):
pouring into yourself andpouring into your spirit.
That does not take a lot.
Some people, they read the book, they read all 21 days and then
they go back and they do it on adaily basis.
Also, there is a referenceguide in the back of the book
because, in case that you don'twant to go in order, you may
have a certain day that spoke toyou that you may want to go
(11:51):
back and refer to.
You can go to the back of thebook and do that, or you can
just open it up on any of thedays and pick it up and, like I
said, it's short, it's a quoteat the beginning and then
there's a thought for the day togive you something to think
about and something to meditateon just a little bit later.
So that was the importance ofmaking it short and sweet
Absolutely Short, sweet butpowerful.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
Short and cute and
sweet and powerful.
Ok period, I'm going to goahead and take a one minute and
14 second break to hear a wordfrom our sponsor, and then we're
going to get back with more ofAngela Anderson right here on
the Listen Linda podcast.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
Her hands were soft
but they were strong.
Her voice, gentle but full ofpower.
She didn't wear a cape, shewore a sweater that smelled like
Sunday morning pancakes andprayer.
She taught us more than justhow to tie our shoes.
She taught us how to stand tallwhen life tries to knock us
(12:59):
down.
And now it's our turn to tellthe world, Featuring real
stories from real women fromevery background and every
corner of the world, Becauselove like this has no borders.
Because when Grandma speaks, the world listens.

grandma's hands, and we aregiving a portion of the proceeds
to Walkford Lupus NowFoundation, which I'm a part of.

something phenomenal.
It's not just for Black women,it's not just for Black men,
it's for everybody, all cultures.
I want to know what yourgrandmother taught you, okay?
So back to Miss Angela Anderson.
If someone finishes day 21 ofthe book of the Power of I Am,
(15:04):
what do you want them to see orfeel?
Speaker 3 (15:11):
in themselves 21, or
even if they've read any of the
days in the Power of I Am 21days of affirming you, I
definitely want them to feelmore inspired.
I want them to feel empoweredand I want them to feel
motivated and to know that it'sokay to take time out for
(15:32):
themselves.
I tell people all the timeself-love, self-care is so
important and I always sharewith individuals.
You cannot pour from an emptycup.
I know sometimes we try,Sometimes we are running on
fumes and we're giving peoplefumes or what have you, but I
tell them you cannot pour froman empty cup.
So the Power of I Am 21 Days ofAffirming you is just one way
(15:53):
of refueling your cup on a dailybasis.
So after they finish that bookand read that last page, that's
what I want them to do is tohave a refueling of themselves,
but now they can actually havean overflow.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Absolutely.
I want right now to kind offocus.
We're going to shift the focusa little bit to, um, the
publishing portion.
So, um, talk to us aboutpublish the publishing journey,
uh, with Angela AndersonPresents, like, what was that
process like for you?
Speaker 3 (16:36):
um, this book is
self-published.
I am am an indie author, so,again, but being in the industry
and being around other literaryindividuals, other authors,
other people that are editors, other people that do marketing I
don't know if you know, jacqueline, but I also teach
workshops, I do literarycoaching, all of that stuff as
(16:56):
well.
So, having all those things inmy background, but it afforded
me to have resources of knowing, like, who to reach out to for
editing, who to reach out to forbecause, yes, even though I do
editing, I also and even withthat.
I even reached out to people Iknow and say who do you know
(17:18):
that can do that?
And I had some amazing peoplethat gave me some great, highly
recommended people and I wasable to utilize those resources
from people that I know to havepeople to edit my books.
And my book was professionallyedited.
I did have a professional to domy cover.
I had a professional photoshoot.
I mean, I did all the thingsthat I needed to do to have this
(17:41):
book produced and have it to beproduced in excellence or what
have you.
Of course, I had a budget.
I did create a budget or whathave you, and I knew that there
were certain things that Ineeded to be in the budget and I
keep saying the word having itedited, my book being edited.
That was a part of the budget, like off top, no question asked.
I knew that that was one of thethings that I had to get done.
(18:04):
I had some people to kind oflook over early.
I also had people that in thatI was able to reach out to to
kind of get their feedback.
I did some market research ondifferent things.
So I put in the work, if thatmakes sense.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
Yes, you did, and it
was.
It's phenomenal.
Can you hold that book up again?
Speaker 3 (18:26):
Even being in the
industry.
Oh my goodness, there are somany things that I didn't know.
So there were, there were timeswhere I had to reach out to
individuals and ask themquestions.
Okay, well, how do we knowwhat's the best way to do this?
How do I do that?
You know, as far asdistributing, how do I need to?
You know, work this way, allthese things I was not afraid to
(18:46):
ask those people that were in,that was in my circle, because,
hey, they were experts.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Yes, hold your book
up one more time because I want
people to see the quality of thebook.
I wish I had it because I wouldbe holding up an absolutely
beautiful, beautiful book.
I love it, girl.
You know, when I got, when yousent me them pictures, girl, it
gave me life.
You better check out the coverchat.
This girl is beautiful.
I was was like girl, you bettergirl, thank you.
(19:20):
She was like huh, thank you.
Yes, girl, I loved it.
I loved it.
I loved it.
Now, what was one?
I am statement from your ownbook that has completely
transformed you.
Speaker 3 (19:43):
Let's see, and I
think I was joking with you when
we did the written interviewfor the magazine, I was like
really, I was like really, jacqueline, just one.
There are so many in here, butlet's see what's one that I know
one day 12.
That one definitely speaks tome.
It says be the originalmasterpiece that you are created
(20:04):
to be.
It's time out for counterfeitsand the thought for the day that
goes with that one.
It says a simple definition ofcounterfeit is a fake version of
an original item.
You, my friend, are an original.
No one can beat you being you.
Your assignment is to be theoriginal masterpiece that you
were called to be, and that evengoes into what the word of God
(20:27):
says in Psalms, where it saysyou are fearfully and
wonderfully made.
And so I am real big on that ofbeing the best person, the best
version that you can be, andbeing original.
Nobody can beat you being you.
Think about your, your, yourfingerprint.
You have your own fingerprintand the same thing about you no
(20:48):
one can beat you at being you.
So that's one of the ones thatreally really helps me.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
You know what I love
that, because I am a firm
believer of being myself.
You know what I love thatbecause I am a firm believer of
being myself.
Child, I'm a firm believer ofbeing.
Nobody robbed me for my destiny, although they tried.
They failed.
They failed because theyfollowed me and me.
I tell people all the timepeople will try to be me.
They go where they still stand.
(21:14):
Child because I do so much, please.
I tell people all the timecaution when trying to copy me.
Caution, because I do so much.
You will run yourself raggedyhoney.
You will find yourself stoppingin your tracks.
Like.
You know what I give up she toomuch.
She just too much.
She do too much.
(21:35):
She just too much Every timemuch.
She just too much every timeyou look up this girl got
something.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
And, jackie, I have a
friend of mine.
Um, I have a friend of mine.
I remember I went to one of herevents and she was talking
about, you know, like a cup oftea, and she was like you know
what, I may not be yours a cupof tea, but I'm somebody's cup
of tea.
So I will borrow that from her.
I feel the same way.
I may not be for everybody, Imay not be everybody's cup of
tea, but I'm somebody's cup oftea, okay.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
I'm going to tell you
about me.
My husband, like mushroomcoffee honey.
I ain't no cup of tea, I'm hismushroom coffee honey.
Look, I say that all the time.
I'm like a huge personality,right.
But I'm very straightforward.
I'm sharp shooter.
Okay, I try to sometimessugarcoat, but it just don't
(22:21):
ever work for me.
You know, I'm just who I am andI'm not, like you say,
everybody.
I sometimes I may run peoplethe wrong way.
Check, I give it to you.
I don't put, I don't put fancylights in front of it, because I
wasn't raised that way, eventhough I watch what I say now
(22:50):
and I try to live with grace.
But I'm still who I am and I'mnot going to be.
We're not for everybody, but Ifeel like I'm for somebody and
God made me specifically becauseof the purpose that he has for
me.
I'm supposed to meet peoplewhere they are.
You know that's my calling, that's my gift.
I meet people where they are.
I don't look through theseglasses and try to make people
(23:13):
be who I feel they should be.
You get what I'm saying.
Like, I meet you where you are.
I tell you what God needs fromme and hopefully that helps you
to turn your life around ifyou're on the right path or if
you're on the wrong path.
And if you're on the right path, come follow me or I'll follow
you.
Let me try to get to where youare.
I'm not a gatekeeper, but atthe same time, don't try to
(23:41):
carbon copy me.
If try to carbon copy me,that's copyright infringement,
that's my intellectual property.
We will have a problem.
But I'm in knowing thateverybody is their own person,
and when I read, when I readyour book, that one stood out to
me the most too.
I was like this girl is me.
(24:02):
Oh, wow, okay, not necessarilylike, but you know how, like,
people connect on certain levelsand I felt like, wow, it's like
you know how.
Yeah, yeah, get it somebody, finally get it you get what I'm
saying.
I know I'm not crazy now, because this person wrote it
here, right here, plain as day,in this book oh, jacqueline
that's what the book was about.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
That is definitely
what the book is about for
people to find, whatever day itis I mean, it may be more than
one day but to find themselvesin that day or what have you.
I have some people a workbookis coming.
I know they're like Angela, when is this workbook coming?
But a workbook is coming wherethey can even dig a little bit
deeper.
But think about, jackie, howthat quote of that day and I'm
(24:46):
sure when you read the thoughtof the day, how that made you
feel you know as a person, howit resonated with you.
And that's one of the thingsthat I definitely want this book
to do is to continue to inspireand to continue to encourage
individuals and for them to havethat wow moment or find
themselves in one of these daysof the book.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
Absolutely, you did
phenomenal.
Now I want to say you're notjust an author, You're a
podcaster, event host and aliterary professional, as you
stated before.
What kind of conversations areyou bringing to the table on
Angela Anderson Presents?
I mean, I know, I watch it, butfor the people who don't chat.
Speaker 3 (25:31):
Oh, my goodness, you
know what.
Each author is different.
I mean, you never know what teathey're going to spill.
Okay, and I have one of thethings that I love about the
show.
I mean there are indie authors, there are traditionally
published authors, there arehybrid authors, there's New York
Times bestselling authors, usaToday bestselling authors, emma
Award authors.
(25:51):
There are individuals that thisis their debut novel that are
on the show.
I have fiction authors, mainlyfiction.
Every now and then I'll have anonfiction author that comes to
the show and they talk abouttheir new release or a book that
they've had that may have beenout for a while and they spill
the tea we include.
The audience is veryinteractive with that and in
(26:13):
these interactive conversationssometimes the audience may have
questions.
I won't.
What have you?
Hey Audrey, yes, cvlr, I loveme some CVLR and all the people
I get at CVLR as well.
Cvlr guys at the Christian BookLovers Retreat and so on the
show.
The cool thing about it is younever know the tea that's going
(26:35):
to be dropped.
Okay.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
Well, I want to.
I want to hone into some otherskills that you have, um, so um.
You, I know that you do likeevent planning and book
marketing.
Um, how, um, how do your skillsin those help you to connect
with your audience on a deeperlevel?
Speaker 3 (26:58):
Oh, my goodness,
those particular skills go like
way, way, way, way back or whathave you.
And so those are one of thegifts and the talents that I
have been blessed with and I'vealways been a personable person,
if that makes sense, or apeople person that loves people
and love.
I've always loved events.
(27:25):
I've always loved it startedlike I would be like for our
family.
I would plan like our trips andvacations.
I was on our family reunioncommittee.
I mean just different thingslike that.
I also plan weddings.
I've been a wedding coordinator.
I mean just all those things aswell.
But then I was able tocoordinate it into my love for
books and probably about eightyears ago, somewhere around
(27:46):
there, I actually started theLiterary Cafe.
The Literary Cafe pre-pandemicwas actually in person, it was
in person events and it was likewith a script.
So I would have in person,in-person events and it was like
with a script.
So I would have in-personliterary cafe events.
One of them we had was like a.
It was like a sip and paintin-person event.
Oh, my goodness, I had authorJor Avery, I had author Reese
(28:09):
Ryan and we painted their bookcovers.
And then, of course, inaddition to painting their book
covers.
Of course, they told a littlebit about the books they read
from their books.
I mean, it was an amazingliterary cafe event Another
in-person one that we had that Iabsolutely loved.
It was a romance one, done inFebruary and I had nine authors.
(28:29):
