In der siebten Folge der Rubrik "Literatur wird Oper" besprechen wir einen Roman des russischen Schriftstellers Jewgeni Samjatin. Die 1920 erschienene Anti - Utopie "WIR" gilt heute als Klassiker der Science Fiction Literatur und inspirierte so bedeutende Werke wie George Orwells "1984" und Aldous Huxleys "Schöne neue Welt". Anton Lubchenko, einer der bedeutendsten zeitgenössischen russischen Komponisten, kam bereits in seiner Schulzeit mit Samjatins düsterer Zukunftsvision in Berührung. Zusammen mit der Librettistin Darya Panteleeva schuf er eine beeindruckende musikalische Dystopie, die Anfang 2022 ihre Uraufführung am Stadttheater Regensburg erlebte.
