Speaker 1 (00:05):
Welcome to another episode of Live Healthy Longer
with Dr Jim, and let's discoverif you can communicate with
family members and friends whohave passed away.
This episode is supported inpart by Amazon Books.
Their slogan is everything fromA to Z, and I'll have some

(00:27):
great recommendations for you atthe conclusion of this podcast.
Now here's our host, dr Jim.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
This is Dr Jim Polakoff and I'm excited about
our special two-part series whatHappens After Death and Is
Reincarnation Actually Real?
What happens after death and isreincarnation actually real?
Now, in this second and finalepisode, we're going to discover
evidence that we have had pastlives and how they affect our
present life.

(00:55):
Also, we're going to explorewhat happens after we die, in
the phase called afterlife.
I'm fortunate to have threeoutstanding guests for this
episode.
They're experts in this subjectmatter and they're going to
take us on the journey.
But you're actually also goingto hear recordings of my

(01:15):
personal past lives.
I must admit these very crediblerevelations of who I was in
past lifetimes were bothastonishing and impactful.
Now I better understand why Iam who I am today.
My first guest is JenniferCatlin, a certified
hypnotherapist trained in theprestigious Duke Health

(01:38):
Integrative Medicine MindfulProgram.
Jennifer practices in Cary, north Carolina, and she helps
her clients recall their pastlives through clinical hypnosis.
My research revealed thatoftentimes the phobias we
experience can be related toprevious lifetimes.
So here goes my first questionto Jennifer Catlin Is it

(02:01):
possible that our built-inmechanism of fear can stem from
experiences we carry with usfrom past lives?

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Absolutely.
It can stem from so manyexperiences, including things,
that we were conditioned oncertain belief systems and
thoughts in childhood.
The way I see childhood is notseparate from other lifetimes
either.
Childhood oftentimes can be arepeat pattern of past lives or
their lifetimes, or even theopposite experience, where

(02:34):
sometimes the soul may swing inthe complete opposite direction,
like I've had this experience, never going to let that happen
again, and now I'm going tolearn from the other side of the
coin.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
So you put up a barrier, so to speak, then right
.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Sure, I mean, we really.
I believe we come into eachlifetime with whatever it is we
need in order to have theexperience that we're going to
choose to have.
So we can have energeticimprints from other lifetimes,
which can include fears thatdevelop from experiences in
other lifetimes.

(03:08):
That energetic imprint remainsand whether or not we choose to
bring that imprint into thiscurrent life is going to be
dependent on what are we here toexperience and to learn and
grow from.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Interesting Now.
I'm well aware of your talentto dig into past lives by
employing hypnotherapy.
But let's begin by dispellingsome of the myths that surround
hypnosis.
I mean, some people say, well,it's in the field of magic or
voodoo.
Is there a scientific basis forhypnotherapy?

Speaker 3 (03:41):
There is and you can actually look up sites, like you
know, in the Western medicinefield Cleveland Clinic, even the
government, the NationalInstitute for Health, has
information about hypnosis onthere, and so you can see
there's many studies done.
There have been over, I believe, 31 clinical trials on hypnosis
.
Just even in the medical fieldthere are people who utilize

(04:06):
hypnosis and studies that havebeen done.
It's hard to get a double blindstudy because there's no way
for people to not know ifthey're experiencing hypnosis.
Like you can give a placebo anda pill, but you can't really do
that with hypnosis.
So we only have limited ways toresearch this when it comes to

(04:29):
double-blind research studies,utilizing just a local
anesthetic and hypnosis, whichallows them to have less
anesthesia and recover faster, less postoperative pain.

(04:51):
It's been used for pain relief, smoking cessation, weight loss,
anxiety, self-confidence, allkinds of things.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
So the bottom line is there is a scientific basis.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
There is.
There's a misconception that itis this woo-woo magic thing,
but actually hypnosis issomething we all experience
every single day withoutrealizing it, If anybody has
ever driven down the road andstarted daydreaming or sometimes
we space out and it's like whoa, how did I already get here?

(05:23):
You know, from point A to pointB, that's a hypnotic experience
.
And there's many other examplesof that.
There's many examples.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
My actual discussion with Jennifer Catlin was much
longer and it was absolutelyfascinating, so I strongly
recommend that you listen to thecomplete full-length interview
featured on my website,jamespolikovcom.
In the meantime, there are somewho may not be comfortable with
hypnosis, but would like anopportunity to access their past

(05:56):
lives.
As Jennifer stated, this can behelpful to determine the cause
of present-day obstacles andidentify our purpose in this
lifetime.
My next two guests will providealternative methods of
determining who we were and whatwe did in our previous lives.
Plus, you're going to actuallyhear portions of a session where

(06:21):
I actually discover two of mypast lifetimes.
So I want you to meet KatieSmith Now.
Katie is a highly respectedpsychic medium who practices in
Charleston, south Carolina.
Many people actually choose toutilize her skills as their
spiritual advisor and she'senabled many clients to heal

(06:43):
from past life traumas blah, blah, blah.
So now I want you to meet KatieSmith.
Katie is a highly respectedpsychic medium who practices in
Charleston, south Carolina.
Now many people actually chooseher to choose her skills.
God bless it.

(07:03):
Now I want you to meet KatieSmith.
Katie is a highly respectedpsychic medium who practices in
Charleston, south Carolina.
Many people actually choose herskills as their spiritual
advisor, and she's enabled manyclients to heal from past life
traumas.
Katie Smith is known as anatural-born medium, so I asked

(07:29):
her when her intuitive abilitiesactually began.
Apparently, katie, yourconnection to the world beyond
became apparent to you when youwere actually a child.
You spoke of angels and pastlives, people you never even met
.
So why don't?

Speaker 4 (07:48):
you tell us about your early formative years.
Sure, so it's my belief thatthere are born mediums and then
there's people that can pop intomediumship or study it to get
better at it, because it is alanguage For me.
I was a born medium, so thismeant when I was really little,
even like two and three yearsold, I was telling my parents
how to plant crops based on someold, like Native American
traditions.
That of course, there was noway that I could know that I

(08:11):
would be talking to ancestorsand I would describe them and my
mom would be like how do youknow my grandparents?
So there were things that wouldhappen in dreams actually, that
ended up coming true, thatwould be like on the news and
things of that nature as I got alittle bit older.
So there was always this wasalways with me, and so are my
angels.
I would be playing and theywould be there.

(08:31):
I mean, a lot of times peoplerefer to them as like a you know
imaginary friend, but for me Iliterally called them angels and
I always had them around me.
So my parents, especially mymother, was like all right, I'm
going to write this stuff downand just kind of go with the
flow, but it was a veryinteresting way to start my
journey.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
You're known as a psychic medium, but you refer to
yourself as a modern mystic, and your clients call you their
spiritual advisor.
So how does this all fittogether?

Speaker 4 (09:01):
I love I have many names but it really is dependent
upon what the need is of theindividual.
So I know that I can connect inwith your soul psychically,
anybody's soul who has aphysical body, that's psychic.
I can connect in with thosethat do not have physical body.
I can communicate with theirsoul and that's mediumship.
But I also believe thatspiritual advising is more about

(09:22):
like what's going on in yourlife now and that's connecting
in with spirit guides and kindof helping you see your life
from a spiritual perspective.
And then I myself refer to whoI am as a modern mystic, because
I believe in all the magic, allthe woo, all the amazing things
that the universe can do.
But I am modern.
I understand that we live in amodern world and there's things

(09:43):
in this world that we just can'tforget about or we can't
sidestep.
So I try to merge our modernlifestyle with the magic of the
universe.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
I think the best way for my listeners to have a feel
for what a past life readingconsists of, let's listen to a
portion of my session with you.
I'd asked you to discover acouple of examples from the past
which served to influence mypresent life, and the first
recording that we're going toplay dates way back.
I was attired hard to believe.

(10:14):
I can't imagine it, but I wasattired only in a loincloth and
I lived in an early civilization.
I don't know if it was a jungleor what it was, but way back
that you described.
So let's listen to that for amoment.

Speaker 4 (10:30):
I feel like I'm getting into a village and I do
feel like I'm looking at yoursoul.
Now it's your soul but it's notyour image, because your image
to me looks very much like Ifeel like you have darker skin
and you do still resonate withbeing male, but it's very darker
skin and male and I do feellike I have like a limited
amount of clothes on, so thatmeans to me like almost like
wineclothy.

(10:50):
So I know I'm very far back intime, but as I merge into him
and I do want to say him, causehe's definitely male I feel as
though your soul was in thatbody and the fascinating part
about it is, I feel very muchlike a healer of, like a village
.
I feel like connecting withothers and healing others and
listening being a very goodlistener of others is what this

(11:14):
soul lifetime was about, and thereason I feel like I'm starting
here is because it'sinteresting.
My throat is getting a littlebit closed up, so I feel like
you didn't finish what you meantto do in that lifetime, which
is very much what you're doingin this lifetime in an
ultra-modern way.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
As a side note for my listeners, the past life
experience you just heard helpedme to better understand what
has inspired me to become anutritionist and a specialist in
the healthcare field.
This session clearly helped meto validate my sense of purpose.
So let's get back to myinterview with Katie for a
startling revelation Now, sinceso many people are gender

(12:00):
oriented and that kind ofshocked me when I found out it.
It might be difficult to wrapour minds around having a past
life as both a man and a woman, and I've obviously always
thought of myself as a man, although in an earlier reading a
couple of years ago, I waspointed out that I probably was
a woman.
But why don't we listen to aportion of our session where you

(12:23):
actually identify me in adifferent gender in that past
lifetime?

Speaker 4 (12:31):
I feel like I'm popping into another lifetime.
So, if you will, we need tokind of go back into another
lifetime because, as I bring upwomen, I do feel like I'm
connecting in with one of yourlifetimes as a woman way.
But I know that it's thatlifetime in which you were like
I'll never let anyone take mypower again, and the power is in
the visual, and the visual isaround the head and the hair.
So it's very indicative of apast life in that way and also

(12:56):
that makes sense then too forthe belief system that you had
then and not being able to shareit.
So it's become a mission inyour soul and in your solar
plexus to share being here asyou as a woman and then having
your power taken away.
It's indicative of sexual trauma, right, and I do see this like
not going.
It's interesting because I doget the number 17 to 18.
So that means to me like thatis like an age timeframe in

(13:19):
which I'm at.
But I also feel like I havelike a it's almost like a
pilgrim looking dress, like Ifeel like I have a big long
dress on with like almost likean apron type thing over it,
very like muddy and dirty.
I also feel that as well, withlike almost like an apron type
thing over it, very like muddyand dirty.
I also feel that, as well, almost could be actually like it
could be.
I almost feel like I'm in likeLondon timeframe too, like I
feel like I'm in London.
Does that all make sense to you?

(13:40):
Well, yes, poor, hungry, notbeing seen, not being heard,
having your power taken away, not being able to have a
fulfilling life, and that isvery much I have to say again

(14:00):
not just it was tragic, but it'sa catalyst.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
So, katie, that explains why I tend to
oftentimes be assertive when I'mfighting for a principle or a
cause.
Could it be the reason why I'veoften fought for others during
this lifetime?
Does that make sense to you?

Speaker 4 (14:10):
100%, 100%.
Like we're saying, each andevery one of your past lives
come together to make yourpurpose.
So again, this is a beautifulthing that has happened.
From such tragedy, your soulhas learned how to take that and
apply it not only to your souldevelopment but to the
development of others and thehealing and helping of others.
So it's like almost likemartyrdom.

(14:32):
You're like, okay, that lifewas a little bit of a martyrdom
life, but that's going to helpme and it's going to help so
many other people in the nextlife.
And, quite honestly, that typeof catalyst and that feeling can
apply to our current lives too.
Within it, every time there'ssomething negative or you feel
like a martyr, it's like how canwe apply that and help our soul

(14:52):
develop and then the souls ofothers?
So you were doing exactly what,in my opinion, I believe our
souls are meant to do here.
It's like spread love andspread healing, and for you it's
just a really strong need, because you had a lifetime in
which you really weren't able todo that.
It was taken away from you todo that.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
It was taken away from you.
Now.
I found Katie Smith to be notonly credible, but a skilled and
gifted psychic medium, and Iwant you to know that there's
much more enlighteninginformation that Katie shared
with me.
So I'm going to encourage youto actually hear the complete
full-length interview byvisiting my website,

(15:31):
jamespolikovcom.
But first let's get to portionsof my final interview in this
episode.
Karen Kubico is considered tobe one of America's leading
past-life regressionists.
She brings the best of bothworlds as a certified
hypnotherapist as well as ahealing clairvoyant with psychic

(15:52):
, intuitive skills.
Karen practices in Pittsburgh, pennsylvania, and also offers a
variety of training programs andclasses.
Karen practices in thePittsburgh Pennsylvania area and
she also offers a variety oftraining programs and classes.
At the beginning of ourinterview, I asked Karen to

(16:12):
further amplify why and how ourpast lives contribute to who we
are today.
So why is knowing andunderstanding our past lives
important?
I mean, do we find purpose thatway in our current lives?
What's the importance of it?

Speaker 5 (16:29):
current lives.
What's the importance of it?
Well, so the, I guess the um,how to explain that?
So we've had.
So, first of all, we're aspiritual being.
Having this human existence,okay.
And if you think about it,everything that's happening to
us is happening in this rightnow, okay.
And if we've had multiplelifetimes, even in between lives

(16:53):
, types of things occurring,it's we are the sum total of
everything we've experienced.
So if we had a life lesson thatwe didn't learn in another
lifetime, to speak clearly or tostand up for yourself or really
stand your ground, do somethingthat you really cared about, or

(17:14):
not get stuck in the doldrum ofworking yourself to death, that
type of thing.
When you are aware that you'vehad all these multiple lifetimes
, you might understand why youare doing the certain things
that you did, why you picked theparents that you have now and
why you have chosen to gothrough some of these things

(17:36):
that are somewhat difficult inthis human life.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
Right, well, why we have traumas that we do?
Where do these traumas comefrom?
From a past life, oftentimescorrect.

Speaker 5 (17:45):
Well, sure.
And then you might have fears, jim, in this current lifetime,
where you feel like you can'tswim in a pool or you will never
go near the ocean if you have afear of water, that type of
thing.
Or you might be afraid to flyfor some unknown reason, or you
might feel uncomfortable todrive over a bridge or something

(18:07):
like that.
All that has zero roots in thiscurrent lifetimes, in this
current lifetime, and so whenyou go back and look in other
past lifetimes, it's like that'sexactly why.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
Well, I'm sure that happened in me too, because when
I go into a tall building and Istart to look over the side of
the building, I almost feel likesomething gravity is going to
pull me over the railing andcrash way down.
And it gives me that feeling, that that empty stomach feeling,
so to speak.
So, yeah, I mean that traumahad to come from somewhere.

Speaker 5 (18:45):
And if you can't explain that in this current
lifetime, then generally it issomething that's happened in a
past life.
It's like an unresolved traumathat you haven't worked through.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
So it's important that we know about it because,
you know, perhaps that's the wayto get rid of it.
If I wish, I could figure outwhat happened on those tall
buildings, but we'll get intothat later.
That's another discussion, jillRight exactly, so there are
additional benefits to learningyour past lives.
I mean, I'm assuming it canhelp in your career.
What you're doing in your life, your love life can help with

(19:12):
your love life, your health, Iwould imagine knowing your past
lives impacts all of thesethings, right.

Speaker 5 (19:18):
Wow.
I mean it just goes so muchbecause you know if you've had
an unexplainable illness in thiscurrent lifetime now it could
be compounded, stuff that'shappened in this lifetime but if
you have no idea why you alwayshave a pain in your shoulder or
something like that, somethingthat's unexplainable, and you go

(19:39):
to the doctor and they can'tfigure anything out, but you go
and you decide to do a past liferegression we'll just say
randomly, not expecting tofigure out this shoulder
business and something comes upwhere your shoulder was affected
or hurt in a past lifetime, andthen your shoulder feels better
when you're done.
I mean it's just a interestingcoincidence, but did it give you

(20:00):
that healing?
You know what I?
I mean it's just an interestingcoincidence, but did it give
you that healing?
You know what I mean.
And so that's just onehealth-related something that I
can give as an example.
There's tons of stuff thatpeople have come and asked about
specifically and foundlifetimes where those types of
things come up.
It's wild and crazy but cool atthe same time.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
Prior to this interview, I had a past life
session with Karen Kubico that Iwish to share.
She took me back, way back toancient Egypt, where then I was
a young woman from a well-to-dofamily.

Speaker 5 (20:39):
One of your past lifetimes where you were female.
Now, remember we can be male orfemale in these lifetimes
because, as a spiritual being,we're neither sex.
It feels like it just dependson what you're trying to learn
as what sex you choose to be ina past lifetime, because it's
almost irrelevant what sex youare.
It's more relevant on whatlesson did you learn on a soul

(21:02):
level?
Talk to me about a lifetimethat you had in egypt.
You were female in your 20sit's 12 000 bc and you were very
upper class and you're welldressed, you're well taken care
of, you're very upper class.
It doesn't feel like you hadlike a worry or a care, but you
were not.

(21:24):
You were very smart.
Also, you knew a lot of stuff.
You had been taught a lot ofthings on purpose because of
your status, because it justfeels like you lived with your
parents and that was just how itwas.
But you had.
You were taking this walk, you're outside, you have your
shoes off, you're holding them, you have this long white gown on

(21:47):
with a tie around the middle.
Your hair is very wellmanicured and it is long and
black and it feels like it has alittle bit of a wave to it, but
it's very thick, um, it's very, very thick and long, um, and

(22:07):
you step on this crystal.
It's like a green glass, likeit's almost like it's glass, but
it doesn't feel like it's glass.
I feel like it's a stone or acrystal of some kind that just
happened to be there, and itreally cut your foot bad, and so
what happens next, though, isthe point of it?

(22:31):
This foot got infected, and youfelt so out of control.
You are this upper class girlexperiencing this issue.
You have these hordes of peoplearound you dictating what
they're going to do to this footto make it feel better.
None of it's working, andthey're not listening to you.
They don't want to hear whatyou have to say, caused like a

(22:52):
major infection that caused yourdeath.
But it caused your death, soyou die, believing I have no say
and I'm not in control.
So that can leak through intoother lifetimes.
Okay.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
Now here's a side note to my listeners.
Karen's explanation about how Iwas helpless and had no control
in preventing my death from afoot infection has a definite
bearing on why, in this lifetime, I tend to be resistant and
losing control.
In any case, let's get back tomy interview with Karen.

Speaker 5 (23:31):
She has a number of clients who have remembered
their experiences in afterlife,so I asked her about life after
death Do we experience some ofthe same things we really
enjoyed in life itself, andre-experience some of these
things in a spiritual sense Ihave regressed somebody who is a

(23:51):
veterinarian in this currentlifetime and on the other side,
in between life, she was incharge of the animal section of
heaven which they were able todescribe in very big section I
would imagine it was sointeresting.
It was so interesting honestlybecause it was an immense.
Everything feels infinite upthere.

(24:13):
It feels brightly lit butthere's no sun that you see.
But it is definitely a wholeother section for all these
animals and she was helping themfeel comfortable, coming to
have a lifetime again withsomebody or whatever they're
choosing to work through, nodifferent than our council
member spirit guides trying towork with us.

(24:33):
And speaking of the spiritguides, if you wanted to, when
you are in between lifetimes, you can choose to be a spirit
guide for someone in the lifeand living, no different than a
pastor or loved ones watchingover you.
It's kind of that same vibe, but it sometimes is more intense
than that.
Some of these spirit guidesthat I've interacted with and

(24:55):
met, they have never had alifetime here on this earth, but
they are all about helping you, inspiring you and working with
you so that you can learnwhatever or achieve some next
great goal of some kind that youpicked out on some level.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
As in the other interviews, I think it's
important to know that in mydiscussion with Karen, we went
much more into afterlife andreincarnation.
With Karen, we went much moreinto afterlife and reincarnation
, so I definitely suggest thatyou listen to the full, complete
