Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to
another episode of the Live Life
Unapologetically podcast.
I am Shannon Kay and today Iwant to speak directly to women
business owners.
But, as always, you can takethis and apply it to your life
even if you don't own a business, because most of us, I know,
are working right.
So you can apply this to careerand money in any way, and it's
(00:20):
really important that you hearthis.
But this is especiallyimportant for those who have
started a business to createfreedom in their life but
somehow still feel trapped in anever ending to-do list.
If you're treating manifestingmoney like just another task on
your list, like something youhave to grind through and work
really hard to get before youcan receive it, I want you to
(00:43):
hear me loud and clearManifesting is not a hustle.
Manifesting is not work.
And yet so many of us bringthis hustle energy into
manifestation without realizingit.
We try to force it, we turnmanifesting into some sort of
checklist.
We approach money like it'ssomething we have to earn
(01:06):
through constant effort insteadof something that flows
naturally when we align to it.
That money and the main sourceof money in our life comes from
our hard work.
So today we're breaking downthis toxic mindset and we're
bringing creativity back intomoney manifestation sick mindset
(01:27):
.
And we're bringing creativityback into money manifestation
because manifesting money shouldfeel like creation, not
obligation.
You see, the hustle mindsetsneaks into manifesting because
most of us have been conditionedto believe that money only
comes from hard work.
Society teaches us that successequals grinding, having two,
(01:47):
three, four side hustles to makeit work.
Business culture glorifiesbeing booked and busy.
We celebrate overworking likeit's some kind of badge of honor
.
And then what happens?
We start our businesses toescape this cycle.
Right, we're like I don't wantto always be grinding, I don't
want to always be booked, I wantto enjoy life, I don't want to
(02:10):
overwork, I just want to have, you know, a very leisurely life.
But we bring this energy ofgrind and busy and overwork into
the businesses we create toescape those same things.
And it's because we've beenprogrammed that way From the
time we were very little.
(02:31):
We've been programmed that way, especially women like me who
are like 40 and above, like wewere really in that growing up,
that you have to work harder, you have to work all the time,
you have to go above and beyond.
Like we grew up in the aboveand beyond programming.
Now I know a lot of youngerpeople are kind of coming out of
that and I love to see theshift.
(02:52):
But for many of us we're stuckin that programming because,
remember, we manifest from ourmind and our mind just holds on
to beliefs that have been taughtto us a lot of times since
childhood.
So for my maybe mid-30s and upwomen, especially, like I said,
40s and up, we were in thatmindset of working really hard
(03:16):
and going above and beyond.
What we've learned with goingabove and beyond is going above
and beyond doesn't pay off.
There's no reward.
The only quote-unquote rewardyou get is more work for the
same pay, right.
So we've learned that.
But we still bring that in, westill bring that energy.
Why?
Because that's just a programin our mind.
(03:37):
So even when we go, start ourown businesses to forge our own
way to create new systems thatwork for women and the lives
that we want, we bring thismentality in with us.
We tell ourselves I just need topush a little bit harder and
then money will flow.
I see this all the time whenI'm working with my clients.
(04:00):
Many I would say the majorityof my clients are business
owners or women who are tryingto start a business and step out
and flow in something that theylove.
And I hear you know, once I doX, y and Z, then I can receive
abundance and then I'll havemore time and then I'll finally
have that life of leisure.
But first I just have to pushhard.
You know, if I just sacrificeand I push really hard in the
(04:22):
beginning, it's going to pay offin the end.
If I'm not constantly busy, youknow I must not be doing enough
to manifest my business.
I must not care enough.
I'm leaving stuff on the table.
Does any of this sound familiarto you?
I know a lot of women who go inand they go in with this energy
and then they're so burnt outthat they're just like this
isn't worth it.
The money's not coming, it'snot flowing.
I'm working myself to the bone,I give up and I'm just going to
(04:45):
go back.
I'm just going to go back tothe safety of a paycheck, even
though it doesn't serve me, orthe life that I want.
That's not manifestation.
That's hustle disguised asmanifestation, and all it really
does is reinforce a limitingbelief that the only way to
receive money is throughexhaustive effort.
Manifesting money should feellike creation, not tasks.
(05:11):
See, we haven't been taughtthat we are creating and then
money comes.
We're taught we are working, you have to work hard, and it
comes with this connotation ofnot do what you love.
Because how many of us grew upbeing told do something that's
guaranteed to make money, like Iknow?
You really like the arts, butthe arts don't pay.
(05:33):
You can't have a life in thearts.
Go to another job, an officejob, where you're going to have
a retirement and maybe you'llget promoted, you'll have a
salary, and so we equate workwith jobs that we don't really
want to do.
That don't bring us joy becausewe've been told the things that
(05:53):
we love, oh, those things don'tpay.
That just goes right back intoanother program, to where now we
feel like working is about tasklists.
It's not about creation.
But I want to ask you have youever been so lost in creating
something that time justdisappeared?
(06:13):
Maybe you were painting ordrawing, writing something you
were passionate about, playingan instrument, brainstorming a
new idea that really lit you up?
That feeling, that's creation,energy, it's flow, it's
alignment.
Now think about doing yourlaundry or filing your taxes.
(06:36):
That feels different, right?
Maybe doing the dishes orhaving to think of what to make
for dinner, unless you love tocook, because some people get
lost in the creation of cooking.
That's not me, I don't like tocook.
I get lost in the creation ofbaking, but not cooking.
But one feels like play and theother feels like an obligation.
(06:56):
Do you see the differencebetween creative energy and
to-do list energy?
One feels like play, the otherfeels like obligation.
Manifesting money should feellike creativity, not like
laundry.
When you're in creation energy, you're expanding, you're open,
(07:22):
you flow with the universe, andthat's when money moves
effortlessly.
When you're in obligation mode, you're trying to control, to
force, to earn your abundancethrough sheer effort, which only
creates resistance.
You have to let it flow.
Now I know you're like Shannon.
There are things that are on ato-do list that go with business
(07:43):
.
Like we can't just sit here andbe creative all day.
Like don't we have to do actualbusiness tasks?
Now, before you think I'msaying that you never have to
work again, I really want to beclear.
Yeah, there are tasks that needto be done in your business,
but the key is not making thosetasks the majority of your
(08:06):
energy.
Like I do have to do my laundryso I have clothes to wear.
Right, I have to wash my dishesso stuff doesn't get moldy and
nasty, but that shouldn'tconsume my energy.
It's the same thing in business.
Don't let things consume yourenergy Things like posting on
social media, maybe respondingto emails.
(08:27):
You know, setting up backgroundsystems.
There's background systems inbusiness, depending on the type
of business you have.
There's background things LikeI'm working with a client right
now who creates baked goods, like sweet treats, and that's
the creative flow, and there aresome background tasks that need
to be done for her to start, like, really start her business.
When I say she's literallywithin week two of starting her
(08:49):
business, so I'm working withher on, okay, what needs to
happen in the background?
We're setting up systems.
If you don't know this about me, I am an extraordinaire when it
comes to organization andsystems and that allows me to
stay in my creativity.
It's just a gift of mine.
So I'm helping her to set upthose systems and that's what I
(09:09):
help a lot of my clients do.
Okay, how do we set up systemsfor tasks so it doesn't take so
much time that you're pulled outof your creativity, because we
do have to do those tasks, butwe have to make sure they're
number one aligned actions, andnumber two that they're not
where our power lies, and so wecan use things like organization
(09:30):
, like part of my creativity isorganization, like I get lost in
organization, and so that's onething I help my clients with is
organizing so they can get lostin their creativity, where that
lies for them.
Your power and your energy andyour creativeness is your
alignment.
That's where we put our power.
We put it in our creativenessto be in alignment, in the flow
(09:55):
of not only feeling good aboutthe things that we're doing, but
also to let that money flow tous so we're not bogged down in a
resistant state of doing thingsthat make it feel like an
obligation.
I teach my clients to focus onmindset first above all things.
Like this client that I'mworking with.
She'll call me with a win, butthen I'll catch her saying a
(10:17):
limiting belief and we correctit on the spot.
Like that's how we roll, because mindset first.
This doesn't work without thecorrect mindset of alignment and
we work on limiting beliefs.
We do the manifestation work.
That's first and foremost.
Then there's creativity stayingin that flow of creativity, and
it's easier to do that whenyou're in alignment and when we
(10:38):
work on that mindset, it's easyto make sure that creativity is
what's driving the business, andthen we have superior
organization.
I help to set up that superiororganization based on what makes
sense for my client, becausewhen you have a systematic
approach to handling businesstasks, you free up the time to
(10:59):
do what truly matters, which isbeing in the flow of creation.
So, if you think about it, ifyou're spending 80% of your time
stressing out about algorithmson social media, trying to
perfect your content andoverthinking every post, then
you're not in a creative state, you're not open to receiving,
you're literally blocking theflow of abundance because you're
(11:21):
stuck micromanaging everydetail of Instagram and TikTok
and YouTube and all of thembecause there's so many that
you're stuck there, and that'swhy I think systems are
important.
I also think you go to theexpert of systems for different
things.
So for me, I work with Jenna inMagic Marketing Machine so that
I don't have to stress outabout algorithms.
(11:41):
I use her program and I use herorganization, but I not only
used her system for Instagram, but I used her system for TikTok
.
So I use it in multiple waysbecause you can take one
organizational system and applyit to different parts.
But now I don't have to thinkabout that stuff Like now that's
not where I'm spending all mytime.
I'll put a link down in the showdescription for Magic Marketing
(12:03):
Machine if you're interested inchecking that out, because if
social media, which is a bigpart of running businesses these
days, like we're not going tosay it's not because it is, but
if you're spending 80% of yourtime stressing out about the
algorithm, you're not creating.
So I'm going to put that downin the show description so you
can check it out, becausesuperior systems will keep you
in creation instead ofobligation.
(12:26):
The key to doing this is actionand then releasing the need for
outcome.
So when you have your mindsetin alignment, when you're
flowing in creativity, you cando the obligation action and
then you can release the need tocontrol the outcome.
And this is where theco-creation with the universe
comes into play.
Like, your post doesn't have tobe perfect and you know you
(12:47):
don't have to obsess over thereach of it.
That's why I love MagicMarketing Machine, because I
don't have to obsess.
Like I know I have a good plan,I have good strategy and I have
good organization.
If you are writing a blog postnow.
For me, writing blog posts arepart of my creative nature, but
for some people, that's not itfor them.
Well, don't stress out if it'sperfect.
I actually have a superiorsystem for blogging.
(13:10):
I have a superior system forpodcasting.
Like these are the things thatI help my clients with, like
what do you need, whatspecifically goes for your
business?
And we create superior systemsbecause, for me, the writing
part of the blog is thecreativity, the getting it ready
and SEO optimizing it andmaking sure it's posted properly
for Yoast SEO and using thedifferent tools.
(13:32):
That is the superior system oforganization that I use so that
I can spend more time on thecreation part and I can get
through very quickly theback-end part.
To rank on Google.
Even when we're creating thingscan still have obligation to
them, like my blog, I can't justwrite how I want to write it
and put it like I do.
(13:52):
Write how I want to write itand put things in it.
To write it and put it like Ido, write how I want to write it
and put things in it.
But the obligation part, thealigned action, is how can
Google register this blog?
And showing up in your businessis important but you have to
let the universe handle how themoney flows to you.
You do the work, you do thealigned action, you're creative
and then let the universe handleit for you.
(14:15):
It just takes one random personwho has a big reach to pick up
the social media post and that'sit.
But you don't know.
I mean don't bank on it.
What I'm saying is don't bankon any one thing Like the
universe can show up in multipleways.
There's so many ways like wecan't even fathom all the ways
the universe can show up in ourbusinesses.
We need to be very mindful toshow up in our business, flow in
(14:39):
creativity, take care of theobligation things through a
superior system of organizationso they don't pull all our
energy and then let the universehandle how the money flows and
comes to us and trust that weare in alignment with our
desires.
Business you build to free you, because you didn't start a
(15:02):
business to just make money.
That's a part of it.
But if you really think aboutit, like I know for me, I was
making, my money was fine beforeI left my 9 to 5.
And it wasn't a 9 to 5.
It was a 70-hour-a-week job.
Let's just be clear on that.
It was supposed to be 9 to 5.
I mean, I got paid like 9 to 5,but I worked way more than nine
(15:23):
to five Like I didn't need toleave.
It wasn't like I was desperatefor money at that point and I
needed to leave.
As a matter of fact, that jobtook me out of poverty.
So that's not the only reasonwe start businesses.
Obviously, I was capped at thatjob and I wanted to make more,
but that wasn't the only reason.
I want you to think about whatare the other reasons outside of
(15:46):
money?
Okay, you didn't want to becapped on how much money you can
make.
That's a reason, but it's notthe only reason.
You probably also started yourbusiness because you wanted
freedom to work when and how youwanted to work.
Maybe you only wanted to workin the evening because that's
when you're most creative, likefor me and people think it's
crazy I'm more creative at 6 am.
I wake up early and I do all ofmy before I do anything else
(16:10):
with my day.
I'm in creation mode at like 6am in the morning.
By noon that wanes and I'm likeeh, whatever, I work till noon
every day, not every day, likeMonday through Thursday, because
I don't want to work on Friday, saturday or Sunday.
That's how I built it, becauseI understand that was what I
wanted to build.
That was my desire, and so Igot into that energy and that
(16:31):
flow.
So we leave because we want towork when and how we want to
work.
We start our own businessesbecause we want to create an
impact, something meaningful.
So maybe you're stuck in asystem of the corporate culture
and you're like this isn't it?
And I'm going to start a badassbusiness that hires a whole
bunch of women and we're goingto have work-life balance and
get paid our worth, because youshouldn't have to take the most
(16:56):
and pay the least for workers.
I'm going to have such asuccessful business.
That's not going to be mybusiness model Impact.
I'm working with somebody elseon that right now, on that model
right now.
I mean, how beautiful is that?
Like?
That's the reason.
The reason is to build whatwork should be, how it should
feel that you can make a livingwage without sacrificing your
(17:19):
entire life to a job.
That's the driving force.
Money, that's great and it's apart of it, but the driving
force has some sort of meaningand maybe you just really
started a business to escapethat nine to five, paycheck to
paycheck struggle.
But there's all of thesereasons why we start our own
businesses.
There's so many reasons.
So we can make money, but alsoso we can work when we want
(17:43):
create something meaningful.
Escape this nine to five.
But somehow we bring the nineto five survival mode into
entrepreneurship.
We tell ourselves that the onlyway to grow our business is to
work harder, that if we're notconstantly productive, you're
falling behind, that money isonly going to come when you
check off every single box andthat's a limitation.
That is a belief that's goingto keep you stuck in struggle
(18:04):
mode.
Those are the beliefs you'rebringing with you from where
you've come from, even whenyou're technically your own boss
, even when you're like that'snot what I want.
We bring it with us becausethat's just how we've been
programmed.
So we have to shift out ofhustle and into manifestation if
we truly want to have thebusiness we want, the life we
want and the impact we want.
How do we shift out of thishustle-based manifesting and
(18:29):
into more creativity?
Like yesterday, I went with mydaughter.
We went to the design centerfor the place where.
How do I describe this Becausethis is like the newest thing
I've ever seen and, honestly, guys, business genius Like I saw
this and I thought this is thegreatest business idea.
So my daughter after many, manytrips to many, many places, we
found her perfect venue.
This venue is part of a bigwedding business in our local
(18:53):
area.
They have multiple venuesbecause I live in the DFW
Metroplex so they have multiplevenues throughout.
We looked at two that wereliterally 10 minutes down the
street from each other, butthey're all over the Metroplex.
So we picked her venue and thenthey have wedding packages,
obviously with their preferredvendors.
But their preferred vendorsliterally have packages
specifically for this companyand we went to their design
(19:16):
center yesterday to finish upher vendor packages.
The design center is a littlemini town that looks like it's
straight out of a Hallmark movie.
They call it the design center.
I called it the wedding villagebecause that's what it looked
like to me, but it has thebridal shop, the tux shop, the
jewelry shop, the stationeryshop like the paper shop, the
bakery where you can taste likeall the goodies that you can
(19:36):
have at your wedding.
All the vendors literally haveshops in this little village or
design center.
And we got to do a sneak peekyesterday because it's not
officially open until March andpick out all the things.
It was really cool.
I shared it on my stories onInstagram, like it's so freaking
cute.
Here's the thing, shannon.
Why the hell are you talkingabout this?
Yes, it's a genius businessidea because they're leasing
(19:58):
their village to actual shops, like the bridal shop.
People are paying to lease thisfrom them.
It's cute.
Plus, all their brides go there.
It makes it easy.
Who wouldn't want to be a bridewith this company?
It's like the easiest thingever and it's not super
expensive.
Like it's not cheap but it'snot expensive.
So that's just icing on thecake.
But I'm telling you this becauseit was Monday morning and I
(20:18):
could just randomly do itbecause I had that time freedom.
I plan my day and so when Istart to feel like, oh no,
(20:40):
should I just be working?
I could have said no, I reallyneed to work in my business, I
really need to hunker down, butI didn't.
Because that's you do this.
I need you to notice wherehustle energy is creeping in.
So be very aware.
Self-awareness is key inmanifestation.
Are you treating manifestationlike a checklist?
Do you feel like you have toexhaust yourself to make it
(21:01):
happen.
Do you believe that money onlycomes when you do enough, like,
oh, maybe it hasn't blowed yetbecause I'm not doing enough,
let me add more tasks?
Those kinds of thoughts, whatkind of thoughts, come in that
are cluing you in to the factthat you're falling into hustle
energy instead of creativeenergy, that you're going more
(21:21):
towards obligation rather thancreation.
And then you're going to reframeyour relationship with work,
how we were taught to work, ain't it okay?
How we were taught to work.
Once again, you get cappedright Once you get to a certain
point, no matter how much workyou do, you're capped.
Well, we don't want that kindof work.
We have to shift from I have todo all this to get money to I
(21:42):
get to create and money flows tome naturally through my joy.
We talk about vibration andvibes and manifestation.
Really, that's joy, it'sfeeling good, it's feeling at
peace, it is feeling creativewherever that lands for you.
Now, okay, I'm going to put mylittle disclaimer you don't have
to be happy, go lucky all thetime to manifest.
(22:03):
That's a whole other podcastand we've talked about it before
.
But that joy, we feel good whenwe're creating, we feel at ease
.
There isn't resistance.
Creation releases resistance.
Then you structure yourbusiness so that you can
prioritize creativity, so youuse systems that can handle the
necessary tasks efficiently.
(22:24):
You automate, you simplifywhere you can.
Yeah, you work smarter, notharder, on the obligation things
, and then you're open toreceiving from all directions.
So stop limiting where moneycan come from.
You have to allow theunexpected.
You have to say yes toopportunities that feel aligned,
because money doesn't have tocome from constant effort.
I just finished up an intensivewith a client and we went
(22:47):
through and she was gettingclarity and clarity and she
wanted 10K months.
She was talking about clientsand I'm like but can it only
come from clients?
Does the 10K only come fromclients or do you want other
opportunities on top of the 10K?
Like you want the 10K fromclients plus more or 10K, and
you don't care where it comesfrom.
And she was like well, I reallydon't care where it comes from.
Now that I think about it, just10K, 10k months I'm like okay,
(23:10):
and so we worked in that.
What does that mean?
And that means being open toall possibilities, not just oh,
I can only get 10K from clients,but I'm gonna have 10K a month
and I love my client work, butI'm open to many opportunities
having that openness for it toflow because we get so stuck on
one way.
The 10K from clients is reallyequal to I go to work and get
(23:32):
this one paycheck.
You see how we bring in theseideas and these limitations
Today.
We're gonna let that go.
So if you take one thing fromthis episode, I want it to be
this you don't have to workyourself to the bone to manifest
money.
Manifestation isn't anotherto-do list of earning things.
(23:52):
Let me check all this stuff off.
It's not something you getright before you're allowed to
receive.
When you shift into creationenergy, you let the joy, the
flow and the alignment lead you.
You stop chasing money.
Money starts chasing you.
You leave yourself open toendless possibilities that it
can come from anywhere and youget to allow yourself to create
(24:16):
instead of work.
If you're ready to shift out ofsurvival mode, hustle mode, and
into true abundance in yourbusiness, I want you to join me
in the Manifest she universe, because we clear up limiting
beliefs and we open ourselves upto wealth.
The best way you can do thattoday is to get the free
Manifest she magazine.
(24:37):
You get a new issue everysingle month.
There's manifestation articles,there's business articles,
there's monthly challenges, journal props, all the things to
really work your manifestation.
I like to call it your personaltrainer for manifestation.
Really it's like having apersonal trainer at the gym that
just keeps you going and youkeep getting results.
That's the Manifest shemagazine.
(24:58):
It's completely free and that'sa great place to start.
So until next time, go manifestsomething creatively and I will
chat with you next week.
