Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to the
Live Life Unapologetically
podcast.
I am Shannon and today we aregoing to start a mini-series on
different money blocks that areslowing down your abundance and
business.
I started this last weekunintentionally, when I was
talking about the four moneyblocks that we have.
That may not be actually ascarcity block, that many
(00:21):
coaches will say, oh, you justhave a scarcity mindset.
But there are other moneymindsets that are slowing down
your abundance and slowing downyour business.
I gave four of them and Ithought you know what, let's go
into detail on each of these, and so a mini series was born
out of that.
I kind of go over them in lastweek's podcast, but let's really
(00:41):
dive into them.
So the four that I talked aboutwere worth, hustle, culture,
comparison and staying small.
I was going to start with worthbecause you know I was like
let's just flow with how thepodcast flowed last week.
But I was like, no, let's talkabout this hustle block, because
if you're trying to buildabundance and build business,
(01:01):
especially in today's society,we tend to fall into the hustle
block.
So we're going to tear down theidea that you have to hustle
your way to wealth.
This block not only kept mebroke mentally and emotionally,
but it also stole time with mykids.
It drained my energy.
It left me questioning why thehell I was even working so hard
(01:24):
in the first place.
It did bring me money, but notwealth, not freedom, not ease,
just more work.
The hustle mindset tells youthat the only way to make real
money is to have a full-time joband at least one side hustle.
But even these days, people aretouting the idea of having
(01:44):
three side hustles.
It tells you that wealth isonly created through grinding,
pushing and forcing.
It says that if you're notworking all the time, you're
missing out on clients and salesand success, not to mention.
It also gives this idea thatbefore your business can be easy
, it has to be hard as hell.
First I bought into everysingle one of those lies until I
(02:08):
finally saw it for what it wasa trap.
So today we're going to breakthis down and set you free
Because, no, you don't have tohustle your way to wealth, you
just have to unlearn everythingsociety has drilled into you.
So let's grab our favoritedrink cozy up and get started.
I really want you to settle inwith this one with me.
(02:30):
Let's talk about the first lie, which is hard work equals wealth
, because this belief runsreally deep.
We hear it from childhood Workhard and you'll succeed.
Put in the effort and you'll berewarded.
The harder you work, the moreyou'll get.
And yet, how many people do youknow that are working their
(02:52):
asses off every single day andstill struggling?
How many women are working twojobs, raising families, running
businesses and barely makingends meet?
Meanwhile the wealthy.
They're not grinding 24-7.
They aren't running themselvesinto the ground, they're
delegating.
They're creating passive income.
They're using their energystrategically.
(03:14):
But we're sold a fake equationthat more hours equals more
money, more effort equals moresuccess.
And it's a scam, because hardwork alone does not create
wealth.
Alignment does the hustle blockdoesn't just limit the amount
of money you allow yourself toreceive, it also steals the joy
(03:35):
from the money you do make.
I know this because I lived it.
There was a time I was makingmoney but I still couldn't enjoy
my life because I was exhaustedfrom chasing, from grinding,
from pushing, from forcing.
I was always working to bringthat wealth in, always had to
work.
And if I stopped for a secondthen the wealth would slow down
(04:00):
and I would freak out and Iwould be like no, let me go work
some more.
What was the point of havingthe money and the success if I
couldn't travel without beingstressed out about work, if I
couldn't just relax on theweekend and do fun stuff, what
was the point?
There isn't a point, it's atrap, because work being your
life is no life at all.
(04:21):
I spent so much time workingthat I couldn't even be present
in my everyday life.
That money was supposed to bebuilding me a life where I could
be present, where I didn't haveto work for pennies.
Oh, now I'm successful, I havea successful career, but it came
with a cost, because I wentinto it with a hustle mindset.
I will never forget the timewhen we were having some
(04:46):
barbecue or event I forget whatit was for and all my kids went
over to my friend's house andthey were swimming and having
fun.
I was sitting outside on theporch with all my friends around
and the kids having fun andlaughing, and there was a laptop
in my lap and I was working.
That's not a wealthy life,money or not.
(05:06):
What kind of life is that?
You know, when it really hit methat the success I had wasn't
wealth, wasn't true wealthwasn't true abundance Was during
COVID.
It was during COVID, when wewere all stuck at home, I
started to see everything I wasmissing right in front of my
face.
I know everybody had their ownexperiences, but for me it
(05:26):
forced me to slow down and be inthe moment.
And being in the moment was soimportant to me because of
everything going around, becauseI had already lost people to
the virus, that I wanted to makesure I was in every single
moment with the people around me.
And I realized at that momentin time I had been looking at
(05:47):
life and wealth and abundanceand success in all the wrong
ways, because wealth isn't justabout having money, it's about
having time, it's about havingfreedom, it's about having ease,
and none of these things existwhen you're trapped in the
hustle.
This mindset keeps you broke.
Because the hustle mindsetdoesn't just exhaust you, it
(06:09):
actively limits the amount ofmoney you're allowed to receive.
Because when you believe thatwealth only comes from work,
then you are literally tellingthe universe I will only accept
money that I have to work for.
You guys have heard my storythat a little over a year ago I
decided I wanted to make fivefigures a month, that I didn't
(06:30):
have to work for and this reallywas a healing journey for me
because I was coming out of thishustle culture, this hustle
mindset overworking oh, thebusier I am, the more successful
I am.
I wanted to train myself andlearn that wealth can come from
anywhere.
So I decided I'm going tomanifest five figures a month
(06:52):
that I don't have to work for.
And it happened, and it's beenhappening for over a year
consistently that I have fivefigures a month of money coming
to me that I don't work for.
Because when you tell theuniverse I will only accept the
money I have to work for.
Guess what happens?
The only money you make is tiedto effort.
(07:15):
You reject passive incomeopportunities.
You block financial gifts, unexpected windfalls or money
coming from anywhere outside ofexhaustion and effort.
If the work stops, then so doesyour money, because that is
what you believe.
That is not abundance, that isjust surviving, that is survival
mode.
I even invented hustle culturebecause, if you can't tell, it
(07:37):
irritates me and maybe it stilltriggers me in a way.
Maybe it triggers me because Ibought into it for so long,
being a teen mom and somebodywho didn't come from wealth in
any way.
Maybe it triggers me because Ibought into it for so long.
Being a teen mom and somebodywho didn't come from wealth in
any way, shape or form in myfamily, I really thought the way
to succeed and to break out ofpoverty was to work myself to
the bone.
Where did that come from?
(07:59):
Because real CEOs, the actualwealthy people, they aren't
hustling, they're working whenthey want to, they're doing what
they love and they only handlethe parts of business that
actually light them up, thethings that they want to do.
So what is this obsession withworking yourself into the ground
?
It's middle management men.
Yeah, that's right, you heardme.
(08:22):
Hustle culture was pushed by menwho weren't CEOs but wanted to
feel just as important as theCEO.
They weren't making the moneythey thought they deserved or
wanted, so they created thisillusion of importance through
being busy.
They wanted to say look at melike this, look at me.
Attitude like look ateverything I'm doing.
(08:42):
To say look at me like this, look at me.
Attitude like look ateverything I'm doing, pick me,
give me more, promote me, see me.
They equated exhaustion withsuccess because they saw CEOs
making millions and assumed well, if I'm working this hard for
scraps, then the CEO must beworking 10 times harder, except
they weren't.
What's worse is that womenabsorbed this mindset even more
(09:04):
because we've been conditionedto prove ourselves through
effort to be good employees andgood wives and good business
owners by being selfless, bysacrificing, by working harder
than anyone else in the room.
It's almost expected of women,right?
The reason we have this mindsetis because we're always trying
to prove ourselves, because wehave to be everything just to
(09:26):
even be acknowledged that ifwe're really good at work, we
must suck at home.
If we're really good at home,we must suck at work.
Like all of these things.
And for what?
To still be told that wehaven't done enough.
That ends today.
I want it to end for you today.
That is why, when I work with myclients and we're building
business, we build the businessthat they want, the business of
(09:48):
their dream of alignment.
So not only are we focusing onbuilding the business in
alignment and doing work in away that feels good, with ease,
that still brings in wealth, butwe also work on every other
thing manifestation, becauseit's important to understand
that wealth doesn't just comefrom your work Like this is one
avenue I work.
I'm doing something I'mpassionate about.
(10:09):
I'm in my creative mode.
I understand how to delegateand make systems for the
obligation work, the work thatcould drain your energy, the
task, and I stay in creationmode.
So we work on that withinbusiness, but we also work with
just manifesting in general.
We don't get so stuck on.
This is where my wealth iscoming from, because we don't
know why are we limiting theuniverse on where the wealth we
(10:31):
want comes from.
Most people start businessesbecause they want to do
something that they'repassionate about, that they love
on a daily basis, that feelsgood, and they also want to get
out of the nine to five grind.
They're sick of being tired andexhausted.
The only way to do that is topractice manifestation, learn
(10:51):
manifestation and be open to anyand all things and wealth and
abundance coming in any and allways, while also building
something where what you dodaily feels good.
That wealth can come from therebut it can come from other
places too.
That I'm not putting all of myeggs in this one basket, so to
speak.
That all my wealth has to comefrom my business.
(11:13):
That's the only way I'm goingto make it in this world.
It's twofold.
So when I'm working with myclients.
We're working on both things, not just one thing.
Let's build this business thatfeels good and aligned to you,
that makes the impact in theworld that you're passionate
about, but let's also manifestabundance with no limits,
(11:34):
because who wants to be inhustle culture?
Nobody.
But hustle culture has reallybeen pushed, and pushed for so
many reasons.
It was invented by men and thenbusiness owners picked up on it
.
It was like people are gonnafeel they wanna feel important
more than they wanna be paidgood, so let's give them lots of
tasks and keep them busy, butwe're still not gonna pay them
(11:56):
their worth and they're justgonna keep grinding for us.
And so now, because, oh, beingbusy made people feel successful
and valued.
Because I'm busy, see howimportant I am the shitty
business owners just tookadvantage of that and was like
okay, we're going to play tothis insecurity and we're going
to exploit it.
And now we have hustle cultureto the point where people feel
(12:18):
the need to have to have two, three, four jobs or side hustles
just to make it and survive.
No, we're not doing thatanymore, especially not women.
Let's stop playing the game.
Let's stop playing in thatsystem.
Create our own systems throughmanifestation.
How do we even shift from hustleto abundance?
And I really need you to getthis deep in your bones that you
(12:42):
don't have to exhaust yourselffor wealth, that money doesn't
come from effort, it comes fromalignment, that abundance is not
something you have to earn, itis something you allow.
So how do you break free fromthe hustle block?
Because so many women that cometo me who are starting
businesses or trying to growtheir businesses are telling me
all the hustle things they feelthey need to do and they feel
(13:03):
like they're not hustling enoughto make progress.
No, let's break free from thatblock.
That block of hustling iswhat's really holding them back.
So you have to expand your viewon where money can come from,
because money is not just tiedto work.
It can be unexpected gifts, passive income, investments,
opportunities that show up outof nowhere.
It can be business ideas thatfeel easy and exciting.
(13:26):
I told you guys this before, butone time I got a check in the
mail because I did business withsome company who had messed up
their terms and conditions atsome point I don't know
something in their fine printlegal whatever's were wrong and
I got a check in the mail, a bigcheck in the mail.
I didn't do anything.
I wasn't expecting it.
I didn't even know that theyhad been under investigation and
(13:48):
sued and all that.
I had no idea.
None, this was from years andyears and years ago.
It's not like it was something.
Oh, I just did business withthem and it was messed.
No, so unexpected Like I wouldhave never in my life had said
to myself.
I think I'm going to get areally big check from a business
who messed up the wording intheir terms and conditions at
(14:09):
some point.
That never occurred to me.
Would that have ever occurredto you?
Money can come from anywhere, sostop telling yourself that work
is the only way that money canfind.
You Start working fromabundance and not for it.
I want you to ask yourself ifyou already had the money you
(14:30):
wanted, how would you run yourbusiness?
That's one of the first thingsthat I go through with my
clients is we talk about how doyou want the business to run and
how it feels good to you.
Ask yourself what tasks feelaligned and exciting and what
tasks feel forced, and then youautomate or you use tools to
help you with the things thatfeel forced so that you can stay
(14:52):
in your alignment and excitingcreativity.
I go over this in a blog thatI'm writing.
I was actually writing itbefore I started recording the
podcast.
Like I'm still in the middle ofit, I'm going through the
process.
There's a complete process I gothrough to write blogs and this
blog is about.
Is using AI cheating, is it?
I put in some examples in thereon how I use AI, because some
(15:14):
things are not exciting to mewhile other things are.
That some examples in there onhow I use AI because some things
are not exciting to me whileother things are.
That way I can do what'saligned and exciting and AI
takes care of the rest.
So for me, let's talk about thepodcast.
I love podcasting.
I love doing audio, onlypodcasting.
But editing I don't like it.
I do it but it's not fun to me.
It feels forced to me.
So I use AI to edit the podcastso that I can do what's
(15:40):
aligning and what's exciting, which is writing out the podcast
, recording the podcast, andthen I let AI do the editing.
Now there's some editing I dostill, but like the kind of
editing where it's removingbreaths because we all breathe
heavy on a microphone because wehave to breathe Background
noises.
I live by a highway.
There's always accidents in thebig city, so there's always
(16:03):
ambulance sirens or policesirens or fire truck sirens.
Plus, I record in my home andmy neighbors have dogs, and
sometimes their dogs are outsidebarking, and sometimes they're
not.
I have a dog, and sometimesshe's in the other end of the
house and hears somethingoutside barking, and sometimes
they're not.
I have a dog and sometimesshe's in the other end of the
house and hears something andshe barks.
I use AI to get rid of all ofthat, because when I used to do
it on my own, it felt forced andfrustrating.
(16:25):
So what tasks feel aligned andexciting to you?
What feels forced andfrustrating to you?
And then you can find ways totake those off your plate or
find tools that can help you getthrough those faster.
I have a whole blog about itthat's coming out this week.
By the time this podcast isposted, the blog's already going
to be posted, but I'll link itin the description if you want
(16:47):
to go read that, just so you cantake off some tasks that may
feel forced using some reallygreat tools that are out in the
world today.
And then the other question Iwant you to ask yourself is
where can you create more easeinstead of more work and
streamlining things?
I am the master of streamlining.
Anybody will tell you like it'sjust a gift that I have.
(17:08):
We all have our own gifts andso when I'm working with people,
I get to share that gift withthem.
Like, how can we streamline, how can we create more ease and
system and organization so thatit feels easy?
It should feel easy and itshould feel good.
So where can you create that?
If you have a gift oforganization or making systems,
(17:29):
infuse that, so that your work, even though you're passionate
about it and you love it, itstill feels more ease, then it
does work.
Wealth doesn't require struggle, it requires alignment.
And so when you start workingbecause we work, because we're
passionate, we work because welike to do things work from
(17:50):
abundance, not for abundance.
Finally, I want you to let go ofthe fear of missing out.
Oh my gosh, the fear of missingout.
One of the most successful, dynamic people I know still
functions in the fear of missingout and it frustrates me
because she's so dynamic, but itkeeps her in hustle mode
because she fears missingclients and sales and success if
(18:11):
she's not always on.
She's really bought into thefact that, like she can't watch
a TV show and enjoy it withoutalso working.
I used to be the same way and Ithink that's why it frustrates
me so much, because I'm likeit's so much better on the other
side.
Come over here.
It feels so good, she's soabout hustle, but she's so
(18:32):
amazing.
She wouldn't have to ever belike.
That's just a mindset that wasput into us that if you're not
always on, you're going to missthat client or that sale, that
you're not going to besuccessful.
But you really do attract morewhen you're in flow, you repel
when you're in desperation.
You don't have to be available24-7 to make money.
You don't have to work 80 hoursa week to be successful.
(18:54):
You don't have to sacrificeyour life to build wealth.
Your business should serve you.
Yeah, you create your businessto serve customers, to serve the
people you want to impact, butit should serve you too.
The business I'm talking yourbusiness in general should serve
you.
You're not serving the business.
I'm not talking about yourclients, your customers.
(19:15):
I'm talking about the businessitself.
You're not there to serve yourbusiness to do tasks all the
time.
You are there to do work you'repassionate about and enjoy
every other area of your life, knowing that wealth comes from
multiple places.
This is just one way.
When you are in flow, it justcomes to you with ease.
Desperation is the biggestrepeller of wealth.
I'm so desperate to make money.
(19:35):
So many people take theirbusinesses out of desperation.
Shannon, I need money now.
Okay, you don't have to hustlefor it.
Remember, money doesn't justcome from work.
It can come from anywhere andit's opening ourselves up to the
abundance of the universe toknow that money can come from
many places.
I'm building this business togenerate wealth.
(19:56):
That makes me feel good, butit's not the only place.
And you don't have to beavailable 24 hours a day, seven
days a week.
I submit to you that your workis worse when you're always
available.
When you're overworking becauseyou are not rested, you are
overwhelmed and you are burntout, and creativities and ideas
and serving the people you wantto serve cannot happen from
(20:18):
burnout.
So if you are ready to build abusiness without hustle, without
burnout, without sacrificingyour life in the process, that's
exactly what I help women do inmy Manifest she coaching,
because wealth isn't aboutworking harder, it is about
alignment.
If you haven't done so already,I want you to subscribe to the
Manifest she magazine.
I want you to go do it nowbecause it is packed with
strategies, mindset shifts, manifestation tips to ditch
(20:41):
hustle, to step into effortlessabundance.
Like I said before, it'stwofold.
So within the Manifest shemagazine you get articles on
just manifestation in generaland manifesting abundance that
aren't tied to work, so that youcan manifest abundance in your
life from wherever the universewants to bring it to you from.
And then there are articlesabout manifesting a business
(21:01):
that works for you, also how todo things strategically in your
business and make your workloadeasier.
So there's all of that and more.
You get a new magazine everysingle month.
When you sign up, you get awelcome magazine.
March magazine just went out, sorry, but when you sign up you
get a welcome magazine and thewelcome magazine is not focused
on business.
(21:22):
It literally is focused simplyon manifestation, because that's
step one, so that you're nottying all of your money and
wealth and abundance to working.
So you do get the welcomeedition, so go get that.
And then a new issue drops onthe first of every month.
As always, I'm going to put allof the links to everything I
talk about in the show notes sothat you can go and get that
(21:43):
easily Before we go.
I want you to listen to me.
You're not here to be exhausted.
You're not here to sacrificeyourself.
You're not here to workyourself into the ground.
You are here to receive withease.
Stop grinding, stop forcing andstop waiting for permission to
do things the easy way, becauseevery moment you shift from
working for money to allowingmoney to flow, everything
(22:04):
changes.
I'll chat with you next week.
