Carolyn Oakley interviews UK Singer-Songwriter Beth Keeping. Beth is an independent Artist and co-founder of Write Like a Girl, that champions female songwriters through live shows across the UK.
Based in London, Beth started her career as an artist and songwriter after leaving university. Initially exploring her love of Country music and establishing herself in the UK Country Music Scene. Through the recent UK lockdowns, Beth had time to reflect on her direction as an artist and has discovered that her true passion for songwriting is through creating great Pop songs with lyrics about love, relationships and human experiences.
Her latest singles, 2021's 'I Thought This Would be a Love Song' and brand new single 'I'm Not Looking for a Friend', has been championed through BBC Introducing, the new music press and music blogs, and selected for Spotify's New Pop UK Playlists, Fresh Finds and New Music Friday.
We speak with Beth ahead of her latest single release in January 2022, to hear her story so far. We discuss how we all need to figure out how to embrace the changes of directions, you may have to take, as you grow as a person and artist. How your music and writing can significantly benefit from finding your perfect collaboration partner and the importance of finding your creative tribe to keep you going and creating when things don't necessarily go to plan.
