(00:15):
Welcome to the Live and Shootpodcast.
My name is Jeff Dowdle and Ihave been a licensed firearms
dealer for the last 16 years.
I talk about all things relatedto the second amendment as well
as anything else going in theworld or anything in my personal
life or anything else that Imight find interesting.
So welcome, welcome, welcome.
August, we're at the end of Julyand it is hotter than fire here
in Texas.
We are hitting 100 prettyconsistently and this is the

(00:38):
time of year that I can't waittill, till fall, but we will get
there and then there'll be atime when wishing that the cold
weather would go away.
But that's just the life inTexas.
So welcome, welcome, welcome.
This week I thought I'd justtalk about a couple things, news
stories going on in the, in the, around the country, around the
world.

(00:59):
And you know, there are plentyto choose from.
We could talk about UFOs.
And if you've watched that anyof the hearing, it's very, very
interesting.
I...
You know, I'm not sure what tomake of it, but I'm not a big
believer in UFOs and aliens and,and such, but some compelling
testimony of at least, again, confirming that our government

(01:23):
is not very forthright with us,that they want to keep
everything confidential, and,and Keep it compartmentalized
and even make everything topsecret so that we, that the
public can't be aware of becausethey think they are our betters,
that they control us.
But so we'll see where thisstory comes up.
Trump got another indictment.
Again they've indicted hismaintenance man at Mar a Lago.

(01:46):
As well just all sorts ofinteresting things going on.
Hunter Biden, what can we sayabout Hunter, right?
I mean, his lawyers tried tosneak one path, basically tried
to get the courts to grant hima, Get out of jail free card for
everything he's ever done in thepast or anything else he might
do in the future and fortunatelya judge who has a little bit of

(02:11):
integrity put her foot down onthat but so, you know, it is not
definitely, it's definitely nota boring time but a couple
stories I was, as I go throughand I collect stories throughout
the week one of them jumped outat me And this one is, it's from
the Gun Owners of America, putout a release that said that

(02:32):
this department has weaponized abipartisan gun safety law to
confiscate guns from law abidingcitizens.
So, the word weaponized, we'veheard a lot lately, and this
goes around that wonderfulBipartisan Safer Communities Act
that my wonderful Senator JohnCornyn, and this is really where
it's more important.
Why it popped for me because ify'all remember, he was a key

(02:56):
proponent of getting this pushand he, you know, he's on my
list.
I am trying to get him off ofthis, but anyway, what this
release says, and I'll just.
Read it.
It says that the Republicans andgun rights activists say that
the Biden administrationunlawfully handed out federal
funds to states that do notqualify under the program
intended to promote so calledred flag laws.

(03:17):
In 2022, they passed signed theBipartisan Commitment Act.
In response to mass shootings, blah, blah, blah.
The law incentivizes states topass extreme risk protection
laws, also called red flag laws, that allow members of the public
and law enforcement to petitioncourts for civil order to
temporarily suspend.
After gun right advocates raisedSecond Amendment concerns,

(03:37):
Congress included requirementsthat states applying for federal
grants to implement red flagsinclude certain due process
requirements.
Thank you.
due process protections.
So what gun owners of Americaand the members of, of the
Senate who have sent a letterare stating is that Congress is

(03:58):
just giving out money.
To states that, that don'tqualify, says Senator Roger
Marshall of Kansas and Rep.
Alexander Mooney asserting in aletter to Attorney General
Merrick Garland, and again, whatgood is that going to do, that
the Justice Department hashanded federal funds to states
that did not meet the minimumdue process criteria.
The letter accuses the Bidenadministration of ignoring

(04:19):
Congress and demands to know whygrants to at least eight states
and territories receive federalfunds under the DOJ program.
It was signed by seven GOPsenators and 26 House lawmakers.
The lawmakers wrote theDepartment of Justice appears to
have weaponized the BipartisanSafer Community Act.
Weaponized is a word that we'veheard a lot about this

(04:42):
administrative state underBiden.
And you know, we talked aboutthe other, another Trump
indictment and other thingsgoing on, and this just seems to
be consistent and the fact thatJohn Cornyn, my wonderful
Senator here in Texas, has someinvolvement in it, just again
continues to irk me.
He is on my list, and we aregoing to primary him.

(05:05):
I promise you.
But, another story that Stuckout to me was this one in the
Washington Examiner.
It said, Second Amendmentadvocates switch to Trump as
DeSantis fades.
This was interesting.
It says the American FirearmsAssociation on Wednesday that
nearly three quarters of itsmembers back Trump for the GOP

(05:26):
nomination, giving up on FloridaRon DeSantis, who led in a
similar survey in November.
It's that they polled over 2,000 members, revealed a massive
shift from late last year whenDeSantis was up big in surveys
after his impressive re electionvictory.
When the 2nd minute group polledin November, DeSantis was
leading Trump 68 28% in thepolls.

(05:50):
Less than a year later, Trumpnow leads DeSantis 70%.
to 15%.
So first things first, you know, this poll back then that it's
unusual because there has notbeen many polls where DeSantis
is at any kind of lead, muchless a lead as significant as,
as that a, you know, two thirdsof the voters over Trump

(06:12):
preferring DeSantis and then forit to switch so quickly.
Now, when it comes to the secondamendment.
You know, Trump hasn't been theworst.
He, you know, he put in the bumpstock, you know, ban and
supported that and, and some redflag laws type legislation as
well.
DeSantis has not been bad onsecond amendment.

(06:34):
Got constitutional carry inFlorida, but I think the.
of it is not who is the most prosecond amendment, but who can
protect the second amendment whois going to stand up against the
ATF, the FBI in Congress, oursecond amendment rights, who has
the most Who has the moststrength of character, who will

(06:57):
not cave when the times gotough.
And I think now, as we'vestarted watching, and we've seen
what the deep state, theadministrative state is capable
of, and all the things they'reputting Trump through, that we
know that that he can stand upto the fire.
Can DeSantis?
I don't know.
And I think that's what thispoll indicates.

(07:19):
And I think that, that is why inthis podcast, I am pro Trump.
I believe anybody that's gonnastand up and hopefully save this
Republic is Trump.
DeSantis can speak a lot, buthe's drifting.
You know, Vivek is coming up on,on, has passed the Santas in
many polls and, you know, Vivekhas, has said, said a lot of

(07:40):
things too, but I think when itgets to a national stage of
Vivek against anybody else, youknow, he's not going to be able
to carry the weight and DonaldTrump is despite.
All the numerous indictments andcharges that they keep throwing
at him, trying to get him to, tofalter.
The polls keep just goingstronger and stronger now

(08:02):
because America public can see,see through it.
And they know that this is theman that is going to stand up
and hopefully recover thisRepublic.
So.
Interesting that, you know, the2A committee, 2A community is
starting to sense that as welland moving in that direction.
So, you know, things are goingto come.
Things will get hotter.

(08:24):
We're going to see a lot morepressure on all of our rights.
They are pushing the limit ontrying to take away our rights,
keep us from exerting ourfreedoms.
And one of those ways is goingto be to take away our guns.
And I will say it again, the manthat can help us prevent that is
Donald J.
Trump, and we need to get himback.

(08:45):
And that's what this podcast isgoing to be pressing for over
the next two years is gettingDonald J.
Trump back in the White House.
Continue if you don't agree withme.
Don't listen.
I want to know why you thinkthat he isn't the best choice
for America, especially for toprotect our second amendment.
Who else?
You want to put in ChrisChristie in there?

(09:06):
Good for you.
Joe Biden?
Kamala Harris?
No.
I think we all agree those arefailures as well.
So let me know what you thinkthough.
Give me your feedback.
I appreciate it.
And I will talk to you later.
