My name is Jeff Dowell and I'vebeen a licensed farm dealer for
the last 18 years.
In this podcast, we talk aboutall things related to the Second
Amendment, as well as anythingelse going in the world Sports
story.
Or anything else I might findinteresting.
So welcome, welcome, welcome.
Hey, I wanted to hop on, giveyou a quick update about what's
going on with the big beautifulBill.
But before I do that, if youhaven't subscribed to this
(00:37):
podcast in either Apple,Spotify, fountain, overcast,
wherever you listen to yourpodcast, subscribe to it so you
get it regularly.
And in the show notes, if youwanna get$25 in an ammo credit
from Ammo squared go there.
Use my code and you'll get$25when you buy$20 worth of of
ammo.
So it's a great deal.
(00:58):
But hey, you know, a lot's beengoing on with the big beautiful
bill and the NFA items that'sbeen back and forth and the way
it ended, you know, the otherday I.
Was the Senate finally passedit, but it was a, a version
where it stripped out the$200tax.
But the parliamentarian wouldnot allow them to remove it from
the NFA.
Those crazy rules, I don'tunderstand about what's going on
(01:21):
with the Senate, but that's theway it got.
Got passed were suppressors, short barrel rifles.
You would not, would not have topay the, the 200 attacks, but
you still have to go through theregistration process.
But now since the Senate changedwhat the house originally did,
now it has to go back to thehouse to be approved and just I
think this, he posted this, either last night.
(01:42):
Yeah, yesterday last night oryesterday afternoon's,
representative Andrew Clyde fromGeorgia, he posted on XI just
introduced an amendment to theSenate pass budget,
reconciliable Ation bill toremove the NFA registration
requirement for suppressors,SPRs, sbss, and AOWs.
So now rep Clyde.
(02:03):
He's putting an amendment inthere to, to do that.
So let's look at his amendmentand I'm gonna, I'll just kind of
read out what it says to you.
Modification of certain devicesunder the National Farms Act.
Definition of the firearmgeneral, you know, section blah,
blah, blah, is amended bystriking the first sentence and
inserting the following The termfirearm machine's a machine.
The term firearm means a machinegun or destructive device.
(02:24):
So now it's, it's pulling thoseothers just saying, a firearm at
per the NFA is a machine gun ora destructive device.
Then it says, amended bystriking, accept a shotgun
modification of treatment ofshotguns, or it says, is amended
by striking exception, a shotgunor shotgun shell, which the
secretary finds is generallyrecognized as particularly
(02:46):
suitable for.
Sporting purposes and inserting, accept a shotgun shell and any
weapon that is designed to shoota shotgun shell.
Then he says the amendment willbe subsequent, shall apply 15
calendar days after theenactment of this act.
So he's making it so it will gosuper quick.
Super quick, let me get to thenext page here of it.
(03:09):
And then he says, registrate, let's, lemme go back.
Goes back over here.
It says, requirements forNational Firearms acts.
Weapons determined by reference.
In the case of any.
Registration or licensingrequirement under state or local
law with respect to a shortbarrel rifle, short barrel,
shotgun son, or any other weaponas defined, blah blah, blah
(03:30):
determined by reference to theNational Firearms Act.
Any person who.
Requires or possess such rifle, shotgun, silencer, or any other
weapon in accordance withchapter 44 of Title 18, United
States Code shall be treated asmeeting any such registration or
licensing requirement withrespect to such rifle, shotgun,
silencer, or any other weapon.
So what he's basically doing ishe's going after these blue
(03:52):
states and he's saying, Hey, ifthey get, if they get acquire
this as a legal firearm, gothrough the, the, the process
just because you might have alaw on your state books that
says silencers are outlawed, this supersedes that.
So there's a bunch of states outthere, Texas actually just
changed their law that wasbanning or are requiring the,
(04:16):
you know, the registration andeverything of silencers.
So now this is thing.
He's gonna, the amendment is,we're pulling it out of the NFA
and any you states out therethat are saying they're illegal,
doesn't matter.
They're still gonna be legal.
You can't outlaw'em because'cause of this new amendment,
so.
Great news, we'll follow it.
(04:36):
Can you know, I don't knowwhat's next.
I know the Senate's gotta voteon it.
I mean, this house now has tovote on it because the Senate
changed.
If he adds this amendment now, does it have to go back to the
Senate?
I don't know if this ping pongbattle keeps going back and
forth, back and forth, back andforth, but I.
Good news, we're still out therefighting.
Contact your rep.
Give kudos to Andrew Clyde.
(04:57):
Contact your rep.
Tell'em that they need to, tokeep voting for this.
We gotta keep fighting.
If we can get these silencersand, and short barrel rifles and
shotguns out the NFA.
It'll just be one less thing forthe, the governments are out
there trying to restrict our,our second amendment rights.
So I appreciate you listening.
Just a quick update, but we'llkeep following it and as things
change, I will definitely letyou know.
(05:18):
Thank you and have a great day.
