(00:15):
Welcome to the Lived SheetPodcast.
My name is Jeff Doddle and I'vebeen a licensed farm dealer for
the last 18 years.
In this podcast, we talk aboutall things related to Second
Amendment, as well as anythingelse going in the world.
Sports story.
Or anything in my personal lifethat I might find interesting.
So welcome, welcome, welcome.
This is the podcast where wetalk about the truth, about our
God-given rights to keep andbear arms, no fluff, no

(00:36):
compromise, just straight talk, talking about defending liberty.
And if you're new here, be readyto fight.
And for our second Amendmentright, if you're a returning
listener, you know, we're, we'refamily, so let's just get to
work.
So today.
We've got a massive windunpacked and this just happened
and it's got to anti-gun crowdagain.
Sweating bullets.
The Senate Finance Committeejust dropped a bombshell by

(00:58):
including the short Act in theirversion of the 2025 Budget
Reconciliation Bill.
That's right.
The Short Barrel Rifle OwnershipRights by Tax Act is a and
kicking and it's a game changerfor gun owners across the
nation.
We're gonna break it down, tellyou why it matters and why the
fight is far from over.
So let's get going.
So.

(01:18):
Let's start with the basics.
For those of you who might notbe up to speed, the Short Act,
the short barrelled rifleOwnership Rights by Tax Act is a
piece of legislation that's beenaround a long time, and it's
been a long time coming.
It's aimed at getting gutting, one of the most ridiculous,
arbitrary infringement on ourSecond Amendment rights.
The National Firearms Act Chokehold on, short billed rifles or

(01:40):
SPRs.
Now the FA, the NFAA was passedback in 1934 and was a knee jerk
reaction to gangsters likeBonnie and Clyde.
It slapped heavy taxes and redtape on certain firearms,
including short bell rifles andshotguns, treating'em like there
was some kind of, you know, weapon of mass destruction.
But here's the kicker.

(02:00):
An SBR is just a rifle with ashort, a barrel under 16 engine,
or an overall length under 26inches.
That's it.
It's no more dangers, no morelethal.
It's just more compact.
But the A TF and the anti-gunbureaucrats have weaponized the
NFA to make law abiding gunowners jump through hoops, pay a
200 tax stamp and wait months.
To exercise their constitutionalrights.

(02:23):
The short Act is says enough isenough.
It aims to deregulate SPRs byremoving them from the NFAs
clutches.
No more tax stamps, no morewaiting periods, no more
registering a rifle like it'snuclear warhead.
It's about restoring commonsense and treating gun owners
like free Americans, notcriminals.
And now thanks to the SenateFinance Committee, it's been
added to the reconciliationbill, which means it's got a

(02:46):
real shot at becoming law.
So it's huge.
But before we, you know, celebrate, we gotta understand
what's gonna happen.
So how did that short acting endup in the sentence version of
the bill?
Well, it's been a wild ride.
If you've been following mypodcast, you know, we've been
tracking the one big, beautifulbill since it started picking up

(03:06):
steam in the house earlier thisyear.
I.
This massive reconciliationpackage is the GOP's chance to
push President Trump's agendawith a simple majority in the
Senate, bypassing the filibusterand the usual 60 vote gridlock
back in May, and house passedtheir version of the one big
beautiful bill.
And while it included some progun wins like the Hearing

(03:26):
Protection Act, shout out toRepresentative Andrew Clyde for
holding line.
It leapt out the short act.
That was a gun punch.
But you all rallied.
You've called our, our, our repsgroups like Gun Owners of
American National Gun Rightshave been putting the pressure
on to their senators.
And guess what?
It worked.
Just a couple days ago, theSenate Finance Company, rele

(03:49):
Sign, Senate Finance Committeereleased their proposed text,
and lo and behold, the short actwas in there alongside the
program, measures like removingsuppressors from the NFA.
So you've helped make it happen.
Your calls, your emails, yourposts on X, they're moving the
ill.
But here's the deal, it's notdone yet.
The senate's still hammering outtheir final version of one big,

(04:10):
beautiful bill and the anti gungrowled like everybody else.
Like every town and Brady arecrying foul.
They're gonna pull every dirtytrick to trip up the short act
before the bill hits the Senatefloor, plus the Bird Act.
The bird rule is, or can Senateprocedure could be used to kill
provisions that don't directlyimpact the budget.
Democrats are already arguing.

(04:30):
The short Act doesn't belong inreconciliation, so we've got to
stay diligent.
So let's get to the heart of whythe short act matters.
Why should every red bloodAmerican care about deregulating
short barrel rifles?
First off, it's about freedom.
Second Amendment doesn't have anasterisk saying, except for
rifles and barrels under 16inches.

(04:52):
Our right to keep and bear armsis absolute, and the NFAs
restrictions are a blatantviolation of that principle.
Second, it's about fairness.
The NFA tax stamp is a poll taxon gun ownership.
200 bucks might not sound likemuch to some DC elitist, but for
working class family, that'sgroceries for a month and the
wait time, unacceptable, weshouldn't have to beg the
government for permission toprotect your home and your

(05:16):
property.
Third, it's about fighting backagainst the ATFs overreach under
Joe Biden, the A TF tried toreclassify pistols, braces as
SPRs, turning millions of lawabiding gunner into felons
overnight.
The short act is a direct shotacross that vow saying You don't
get to rewrite the rules toscrew over Americans.
It's a step forward.

(05:36):
Dismantling the bureaubureaucratic tyranny that we've
been fighting against.
And last, not forget.
On the practical side, FPRs areour deal for home defense,
maneuverable, lightweight andeffective.
They're also grateful.
Folks with disabilities orsmaller frames who find full
size rifles tough to handle.
Deregulating SPR means moreAmericans can access the tools
they need to stay safe withoutjumping through hoops.

(05:58):
So what's next?
Well, the Senate's gotta passtheir version of the one
beautiful bill by July 4th.
And according to and that's atight timeline and there's a lot
of horse trading going on.
So if the Senate bill passes.
With the short act intact, you'll have to go back to the
house for final approval.
Since the house and finalversions will will differ and

(06:20):
that, then there's anotherchance.
You know, I.
We already had the, the one bigbeautiful bill go through the
house.
They weren't able to get theshort act put in.
They pulled it out.
They kept the hearing protectionact in there for silencers or
suppressors, but they could notget it done.
So, big concern on whether ornot.
Once the, the one big beautifulbill goes back to the house,

(06:43):
those are gonna have the, theguts and where for all to, to
pass it.
And I've already heard frompeople in the house saying, you
know, not basically because ofthe short act or the hearing
protection act, that the Senateversion's gonna be dead on
arrival because they don't likesome of the changes that the
Senate has made outside of theprotecting our Second Amendment.

(07:04):
So.
We've gotta keep fighting.
You gotta keep fighting.
Contact your senators, contactyour representatives and tell'em
that they've got to pass the onebig beautiful bill.
That's number one priority.
We've gotta get PresidentTrump's agenda across the line.
And that includes the one bigbeautiful bill increasing
spending to protect our borders.

(07:25):
No tax on tips, no tax onovertime, all those things that
were campaign promises plus.
It's making a big, boldstatement about our Second
Amendment rights.
So we've gotta get this thingpassed.
We've gotta get through theSenate, then we've gotta get
back through the house.
So contact your senators, contact your house of
representative.
I will keep you informed asthings move along.

(07:45):
Stay tuned for this podcast.
Look for updates, and Iappreciate you listening.
Have a great rest of your dayand a rest of your week.
Thank you.
