(00:15):
Welcome to the Live To Shootpodcast.
My name is Jeff Dole.
I've been a licensed firearmsdealer for the last 18 years in
this podcast to talk about allthings related to Second
Amendment, as well as anythingelse going in the world, a
sports story, or.
Anything else you might findinteresting.
So welcome, welcome, welcome.
So before we dive into it, firstoff, I will want to just say my

(00:35):
stars.
Let me down last night.
And I.
I don't know what to say.
They didn't play well, they didnot play well at all.
And we have to look next yearand see what they need to do to
be able to beat Edmonton.
That's all I can say about that.
And we will move on.
I wish I could say, Hey, Ihopeful that the Cowboys will be
able to ease this pain, but Idon't think that's gonna happen

(00:57):
as well either.
Also, before we start, I wannajust reflect back a year ago,
just think back where we were ayear ago, a year ago.
President Trump was being foundguilty on 36 charges in New
York.
He was, this is back, he wassitting in courtrooms.
Remember we had the documentcase in Florida.

(01:18):
We had the Fannie Willis case.
We had the Jack Smith case.
We had this case about thecampaign contribution and that
he was found guilty on, and theleft was certain they were gonna
be.
Putting him into jail and thathe was not gonna be.
And they were in fact, you know,Biden has come out and said, our
people have reported that Bidenwas pretty confident that Trump

(01:39):
was going to jail and that hewas gonna win.
Have we come a long way?
We are getting our freedomsback.
The borders closed.
The second Amendment is beingdefended and things are just
lining up the way that we wouldhope.
But, and this is another storywe wanna talk about.
So, yes, this is the Live toShoot podcast and we've got a

(02:01):
lot that we wanna talk about.
But the big thing I'm talkingabout today is the Department of
Justice just dropped a, abombshell settlement with rare
breed triggers ending their banon forced research.
Forced to reset triggers fts forshort.
It's huge folks, and we're gonnabreak it down, celebrate the win
and talk about what it means.
So let's get to it.
Patriots, let's set the stage.

(02:22):
So for years the A TF has, beenwaging war on forced reset
triggers.
Now, these are aftermarketdevices that let your AR 15
style rifle fire faster bymechanically resetting the
trigger after each shot.
Now, let's.
Always be clear on this leftwho's going crazy.

(02:44):
These are not machine guns.
Each shot still requires aseparate trigger pull, but under
the Biden administration, the AA TF decided to play again, fast
and loose, and they classified fRTS as machine guns under the
NFA.
And they went aftermanufacturers like rare breed
triggers, sued them, seizedtheir products, and even
threatened law abiding gunowners with federal prison for

(03:05):
owning what was essentially afancy trigger.
So.
Those thugs were knocking ondoors and confiscating legally
purchased property, all becausethe a TF thought that they could
rewrite the law withoutCongress.
So sounds like some of thetypical governmental outreach
that we've been dealing with,but.
Now we've got the DOJ underpresident Trump and attorney Pam

(03:26):
Bondy, and they're, they've beenputting breaks to this kind of
stuff.
So on May 16th 2025, theyannounced a settlement with rare
triggers that ends the ban on Frts, requiring the AF to return
the cc.
Ceases triggers and sends, sendsa clear message that Second
Amendment is not a second class.
Right?
So again, let's break it down.

(03:48):
The settlement comes on theheels of some other major legal
wins for the Second Amendmentback in 2024.
The Supreme Court ruled inCargill v Garland that the A TF
overstepped its authority byclassifying bump stocks as
machine guns.
See the, the common theme here, that decision set the stage for
a federal judge in Texas toapply the same logic to F RTS in

(04:10):
July, 2024, saying they don'tmeet the legal definition of
machine gun either.
Why?
Because a machine gun under thelaw requires multiple rounds
with a single function of thetrigger.
Fr Ts.
They require trigger pull forevery shot.
Pretty simple.
You pull the trigger and a bunchof rounds go firing off.
That's machine gun.

(04:30):
Pull the trigger.
One bullet goes out.
That's a semi-automatic or arifle.
So the a TS, you know, argumentwas flimsier than anything.
So now rare breed triggers alongwith groups like the national
association for Gun Rights andTexas Gun Rights.
Didn't just roll over, theyfought back in court and they
had some heavy hitters on theirside.

(04:50):
The result, the DOG, the DOJ isdropping three lawsuits against
rare Berry triggers, dismissingthe appeals in the second fifth
circuit, and agreeing not toenforce machine gun regulations
against F rts for AR stylerifles.
And if you have your frt seizesor surrendered it it under
pressure from the a TF, you canrequest request its return by

(05:12):
September 30th, 2025.
You can check out the ATFswebsite and they've got
information on how you can goabout getting that back.
I wouldn't hold my breath.
It's gonna take a while.
Even in the new administration, the A TF is still the A TF.
So now why does it matter?
Second Amendment, as we alwayssay, isn't about hunting and

(05:32):
sports shooting.
It's about ensuring we thepeople have the means to defend
themselves.
I.
They don't including typicalgovernments, fts, don't turn a
rifle into a machine gun nomatter what.
The gun grabbers at Giffordssay, VA.
Vanessa Gonzalez from Giffordshad the audacity to claim the
settlement effectively legalizesmachine guns and that lives will
be lost.

(05:53):
The, that is what the left isjust minds are blown because
they they just don't understand.
They don't ever take the time tounderstand just because a gun
can fire fast.
Hey, have you ever seen JerryIck fire a revolver?
I mean, it's amazing.
You would think it's a machinegun, but it's just that somebody
manually pulling a trigger.
So just because you can firefast doesn't mean it's a machine

(06:15):
gun.
These fts, they've been aroundforever and I.
You know, you go back to 2 20 17and Las Vegas shooting involved,
bump stocks, not frt.
And even then, the answer isn'tto strip law abiding citizens
with the rights.
It's about enforcing the law andaddressing the root costs of
violence, not demonizing thetools.
I.
Lawrence Damco, he's thepresident of Rare Breathe, said

(06:37):
at best, the victory is alandmark mo moment in the fight
against unchecked governmentaloverreach.
The A TF and DOJ tried tosilence and bury us, not because
we broke the law, but because Irefused to bend to the will of
tyrannical administration.
Aim into that.
Lawrence and this settlementisn't just about triggers.
It's about sending up a, a, amessage to the bureaucrats that

(06:59):
who think that they can rewritethe law and anti fit in their
anti-gun agenda.
So there's part of this that wegotta be real about.
There is a catch.
We agree, agree to develop frt, agree not to develop fts for
handguns and enforce theirpatents against competitors,
including folks 3D printingtheir own triggers.
Some folks on x and are callingthis the deal with the devil

(07:20):
saying rare breed.
Basically be, I mean the DO G'Spatent troll to limit who can
make FFR Ts, but I hear theconcern, but let's keep
perspective.
Rare breed was fighting forsurvival against a Biden a TF
that wanted to crush'em.
This still get, gets frt back onthe market and triggers return
to owners.
It's not perfect, but it is astep forward.

(07:42):
So.
Here's my take Rule fight isn'tjust about f rts, it's about
dismantling the a TS ability tomake up rules as they go.
The cargo ling and thesettlement show, the courts are
starting to check the a TSpower, but we still need
Congress to step up.
Then the NFAs definition ofmachine gun is clear, but it's
also outdated.
Some folks on Reddit suggestupdating it too.

(08:03):
In closing loopholes, likedefining a machine gun is firing
multiple rounds.
Why don't we just get rid of thea, the NFAI think that's a, but
that's a whole otherconversation.
You know, we we're gettingcloser, we're getting silencers
out, but you know, NFA isoutdated entirely anyway, and we
need to just be done with it andstand up and fight for our

(08:24):
second, right?
So.
Gun control.
You know, you know, but the guncontrol advocates, they, they're
still losing their mind.
Michigan ag Dan Nessel and acoalition of 16 Anti-Gun
attorneys, attorney Generalstried to intervene in the fifth
Circuit to keep the FRT banalive, wi whining that these
devices turned them intomilitary machine guns.

(08:46):
Sorry, Dana, but the law doesn'tbend to your feelings.
The Fifth Circuit dismissed theappeal and the DOJ settlement
shut the door on their crusades.
And let's not forget the biggerpicture, Trump's executive order
on protecting the SecondAmendment rights issued on his
second day in office.
Set the tone, Pam Be's team, including Emily Beau, who

(09:07):
reviewed the ATFs actions andsaid, enough is enough.
Even when ATFs own chiefcounsel, Robert Lider argued our
F RTS posed a public safetythreat.
The DOJ prioritizes the law overbureaucracy, and that's what we
need leadership that respectsthe Constitution.
So.
What's next?
We gotta keep fighting.
If you had your F RTCs, get onthe A TSW web website and

(09:30):
request its return beforeSeptember 30th, 2025.
Don't let the government keepyour property.
Second.
Support companies like Rarebreeded and groups like NAGR and
SEC Texas Gun Rights.
They're out there fighting legalbattles and stay diligent.
The a TF is still out there and,you know, they're reviewing
scheme ways to chip air rightswhere we're going down the right
path.

(09:50):
This new DOJ seems to be in linewith trying to protect the
second Amendment, but you neverknow where things might go and.
We always have to keep fightingand stay diligent because right
around the corner could be a newadministration.
So that's it for today.
Thank you for listening.
Share this with other people andI appreciate it and have a great

(10:12):
day.
