(00:15):
Welcome to the Live Shootpodcast.
My name is Jeff Doddle and I'vebeen a licensed farm dealer for
the last 18 years.
And this podcast talk about allthings related to Second
Amendment, as well as anythingelse go in the World sports
story or anything else I mightfind interesting.
So.
Welcome, welcome, welcome tothe, you know, the podcast where
we break down the latest in the,in the firearms industry.
Second Amendment very, from avery pro freedom perspective.
(00:38):
We live, we love our liberty andwe love our country here.
So this week we are gonna betalking about some industry
news.
First we're gonna talk aboutRuger, and then we're gonna talk
about Sig.
So let's get this thing kickedoff and let's talk about the
latest in the area where, bigacquisition where everyone that
everyone's talking about stern,Ruger, and Company just bought
(00:59):
Anderson Manufacturing.
That's right.
The folks behind the the povertypony ar fifteens are now part of
the Ruger Empire deal.
Went down July 1st, 2025.
And it's, it's a game changerfor Ruger production capacity,
for sure.
Anderson's facility in Hebron,Kentucky, along with its
machinery and skilled workforce, are now gonna be a part of
(01:20):
Ruger.
But according to rug's presspress release, they're not
keeping the Anderson brand of,or its budget friendly ar
lineup, which I finddisappointing.
I as a FFL dealer havetransferred in.
Hundreds of Anderson lowers andrifles.
They're very affordable.
And as far as I have feedback,I've gotten they're, they're,
(01:45):
they are pretty good qualityfor, for what you get.
But instead, you know, Ruger isgonna be fold that all that
Anderson, capabilities intotheir operations, and they're
gonna to use it to crank out newrugal products, expand their
existing lines and theiraccessories.
So, you know, why does itmatter?
Well.
You know, Rutger's already aheavyweight in the firearms.
(02:07):
They were only second to savagearms in rifle production in 2023
with over 610,000.
So this move is gonna push themprobably to the top, especially
in the AR 15 market.
You know, Anderson's been ago-to, affordable, reliable ar
for decades and, you know, RugerISS gonna start leveraging their
capabilities to help dominatethe market.
(02:28):
Ruger, CEO, Todd Seaford put itsaid, this is an incredible
opportunity to advance ourlong-term strategy translation.
Ruger ISS loading up to makemore guns faster and better.
But if you have an Andersonproduct, their warranty service
is done.
Unfortunately, if you've got anAnderson lower or rifle, you are
gonna be on your own.
And that's a bummer, I think.
(02:48):
And, but Rugers, you know, they've got a solid reputation
for quality and they're notabout to let the tion go to
waste.
They're integrating the Andersonteam and factory into their
operations across New Hampshire,Arizona, North Carolina, and
Missouri.
It's a strategic play in thefirearms friendly state like
Kentucky, and, you know, it'skind of a middle finger to anti
(03:09):
gun crowd as we keep growing ourbusinesses.
So curious to know what, whaty'all think.
Is this good for the SecondAmendment?
Is it good for the, the industryyou know, rug's not resting on
revolvers in 10 20 twos anymore,so, see what's happening.
So let me know what you think.
And we'll watch how this hapfolds for Ruger.
So, but now let's shift to somenot so great news.
(03:32):
And that's for six hour the Pthree 20 specifically the M 18
variant used by the military andlaw enforcement is back in the
hot seat.
And this time it's theF-B-I-F-B-I turning up the heat.
There's a report from the FBI'sballistic research facility
released through a freedom ofinformation request dropped to
bombshell that the P three 20can fire without trigger pull
(03:56):
under certain conditions.
Yeah.
And.
Quote, unquote, un commandeddischarge stems from a July,
2024 incident where a MichiganState Police Officer M 18
allegedly went off while hostedwith no trigger contact.
The officer was just standingthere holding gun his keys and
bam.
Round fired.
(04:16):
The FBI's 32 page report datedAugust 30th, 2024.
Didn't Sure, sure.
Code it.
They tested the M 18 and foundthat in scenarios mimic kinking,
real world movements likepressing the gun against the
wall, jumping or running.
The P three 20 could dischargewithout anyone touching the
trigger.
They pointed to issues with thestriker safety spring shifting
(04:38):
under specific conditions, though they couldn't fully
replicate the problem in everytest.
They said Sig was invited to thetesting but declined to show
show and, you know, it's not agreat look for Sig, I think,
and, you know, doesn't get anybetter.
On July 9th, 2025, theImmigration and Custom
Enforcement Agency ICE issued amemo banning their agents from
(04:59):
carrying any P three 20 modelsand they're swapping'em out for
the good old Glock 19.
It's a huge blow for Sigreputation, especially since the
P three 20 was chosen for theArmy's$580 million modular
handgun system contract.
The department of home andsecurity isn't messing around
and neither are the online guncommunities.
People are calling'em out andsaying that, you know, SIGs
(05:21):
denial.
Is denying their, their flaws.
So let's be clear too, you know,SIG makes good guns.
You know, the P 365 is a fanfavorite, and I know a lot of
people that have the threetwenties.
And, but it's not new for SIGeither.
Back in 2017, SIG issued avoluntary upgrade, quote
unquote, for early P three 20,tweaking the trigger shoe
(05:45):
striker safety, and SEER toaddress similar concerns.
Here we are eight years laterwith the FBA saying, there's
still a problem.
SIG response, they doubled downclaiming there's quote unquote
no evidence.
The P three 20 can fire withouta trigger pull.
Sorry, sig, but the FAI reportsit.
Isis ban says otherwise.
So, you know.
(06:07):
My take, you know, if you've gota three 20 you need to be aware
of this.
You know, you gotta be careful.
Check your holster, train smart, and maybe consider a backup
until sig figures this out.
I'm not saying ditch your sig.
They've got great guns.
And I know a lot of people at'em, but sig, instead of
playing, defense and, andaccusing critics of being
(06:27):
anti-gun.
You know, how about honing upand fixing it?
You know, just fix your problemand a recall might hurt your
pride, but it will save yourreputation.
So.
Folks, that's it.
That's a rundown on, on rug'sacquisition in the P three 20
woes.
We'll keep you updated as thingsevolve, and hey, if you haven't

next week probably.
