Detroit, Michigan native Ryan Reed is the founder of Women's Basketball League (WBL) which has 6 teams starting up in their inaugural season, Chicago Flames, Cleveland Rockers, Detroit Shock, Toronto North Stars, Grand Rapids Soul, Indiana Thunder. Recently Ryan, was informed that he was the first Black man to form an all-women's sports league. While this fact blew my mind, his goal was simple: to provide women with opportunities to advance their careers. Making history was never my intention, but I am proud to be a part of it.Founded on the rich legacy of the original Women's Basketball League (WBL) which pioneered the realm of American women's professional basketball in 1978, our league emerges as a tribute to its groundbreaking spirit. With a nod to the past and a vision for the future, we embark on this journey with six formidable teams: the Detroit Shock, Cleveland Rockers, Grand Rapids Soul, Chicago Flames, and Indiana Thunder, Toronto North Stars.
