Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the live your best life barefoot podcast

(00:02):
with your host, Mary Morris andthe team at barefoot bungalow
Realty.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Good morning.
Welcome to another episode oflive your best life barefoot.
I'm Ruth, and I'm here with Marytoday.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
Good morning.
We're gonna do a quick marketupdate before we introduce our
great guest, um, with the, ofsnowboarders heading out.
I don't know if you've noticedall the little car carriers
mm-hmm definitely.
Yeah.
So with that, and with Easter, the school you're ending kind of
a combination.

(00:34):
We're noticing a little bit of aslow in the sale of homes.
So when something comes on themarket, how quickly it goes
under contract is slowing downjust a ti.
So that is actually good newsfor buyers right now.
Very good.
Yeah.
So if you've been thinking aboutit, this is a great time to jump
on and, um, get in the market.

(00:56):
And, um, back to those interestrates, I think we were talking
about, about this.
I actually think that theinterest rates are gonna stay
kind of where they are.
Yeah, this is, this is Mary'scrystal ball until after the
elections, uh, in November.
So I think they're gonna try andhover, you know, all those
political things we're not gonnaget into here.

(01:19):
Um, so it's a great time.
It it's a great time.
The market's a little slower.
So you have a minute to look atthings and bring, well, things
are

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Staying on the market longer as well.
We noticed that this weekend,

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Right?
Right.
So there's our little market tipand update.
And without further ado, we aregoing to introduce our fabulous
guest.
The miss Ludia be okay.
I'm not, I don't, it don'tattempt it.
love LA.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Yes.
Yay.
Eating good.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
And she is being a trooper.
She actually has lost her voiceand a singer that has lost her
voice coming on and talking tous is so nice of her.
Welcome.
Ludia.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
Thank you for having me.
My pleasure.
Good morning, everyone.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
So tell us a little bit about who you are.
Let's start there.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Well, once again, my name is Ludia LA.
I was born and raised in poorprince Haiti.
And, um, I've always would saythat I've always enjoyed singing
love singing, but apart fromsinging, I'm more of a mother
cook.
everything else foreverybody at my home.

(02:38):
Yes.
So that's me.
How everything, I'm a little ofeverything.
How

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Many kids do you have?

Speaker 4 (02:43):
I don't have any that's the funny part.
None of them are mine.
they're not, um, zerokids.
Not no time soon.
Not yet.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
that's I cook .
Very good.
So what do you like to cook?

Speaker 4 (02:59):
Well, since I am Caribbean from the Caribbeans,
we cook a lot of like Haitianfood from, but on PSE, which is
fried S and, um, beans and riceand shrimp.
It's just, just a lot oftraditional food that we just
love to enjoy.
I dabble a little in theAmerican food cuz I love it too.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
that's awesome.
Well, I wanna hear, I wanna backup and hear a little bit about
what your journey coming to thestates is.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
Well, I was in 80 for a while.
I came here in 2007 at the ageof 10 and I came with my little
brother, my mother and myfather, and we've been moving
around a lot and we finallydecide to settle here where I'm
at in Cape coral.
And um, while I was in Haiti, mygrandmother would drag me with

(03:54):
her every day.
If I could say I was in churchevery day, it's true every day.
And she would sing in her group.
And for some reason I did not,she told me all the time, you
don't know how to speak, butyou're singing up there.
and nobody knows whatyou're saying, but they like it
though.

(04:15):
And I'm like, at least they likeit.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
That's a, that is amazing.
So like, since you were a littlegirl, you

Speaker 4 (04:25):
And I have no memory of it, it's just that many
people have told me.
They have witnessed that fromme.
And my mom said I would humsongs.
I don't know the words to, ormake up songs and just say words
that don't exist and never willexist.
but I like,

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Yes.
So being a singer, I'm guessingthat that brings in a component
of, um, art and feeling intoyour life.
Um, so what is it the, thatmakes you continue to draw, be

(05:06):
drawn to singing and, um,specifically tell us a little
bit about what you, what yourpreferred, um, song choices are.
I'm blanking on the wordsgenre, genre.
There we go.
Genre.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
Well, my preferred genre is gospel, um, Christian
music.
Um, I am a Christian and my mesinging and is just a form of
like worship.
I, at a point in time, I justfound it something that was
honestly that pulled me insteadof me going towards it.

(05:42):
Because if it was for mydecision, I know that since I
have like a lot of stage fright,I ran away from the stage.
Like I do not wow.
Want to do it.
I'm if I get on that stage, I'msweaty.
My palms are sweaty.
I forgot every lyric, even if Iknew it it's a second ago.
So it's something that I heavilyprey on because if I let my fear

(06:06):
stop me, I will be my biggestdownfall.
Like I will be my biggestdownfall.
And I just felt like this iswhat something God called me to
do.
And I'm okay with submitting towhat he said for me to do.
So it's not more so my choice,it's honestly his choice and I'm
loving it.
Actually.
I'm loving it and staying withgospel music of honestly like

(06:31):
change how I see people, how Ithink, and even how I see
myself, because my confidence, Iwent to levels that I know that
if I would've sung other genres,I would be hiding behind it.
Instead of using my emotionswith it, I allow my life
circumstances, my situations, myhome situations, my family, back

(06:53):
in Haiti situation into myworship.
It makes it more personal.
And I feel like that's whatreached people better.
And that's what people couldconnect to something that
they've been through and theyare going through.
And to know that it does change.
Like it's probably the mostcliche thing to say, but since
I've been there done that, I putit, well, God have allowed me to

(07:16):
put it how I sing and feelingthrough it.
And that's what I love about it.
And that's why I'm sticking withgospel music, cuz it honestly
does change mindsets.
It's hard to change somebody'smindset once they've been like
that for a long time.
Right.
Right.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
You know, you're so outgoing.
It's, it's odd to hear thatyou're that you have such that
shyness about you when you geton stage, because I've only met
you the one time at Rick's babyshower, but you're so outgoing.
You were so welcoming toeverybody and I just don't see
that side, but I totallyunderstand it.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
Yeah.
Yeah.
Anyway.
Yeah.
And yeah, that's a, that's ahuge accomplishment to allow
yourself to get over that.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
Because you do have a gift.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
Thank you.
Thank you.
It's it's not easy.
A lot of people be like, oh wellgo, go on there and do it cuz
you can.
And I'm just like only if youknow,, I'll forget how to
walk The top.
I seem outgoing, but that's whyI know that it was something

(08:26):
that I was called to because itwas not going to be easy.
I decide to do it.
And I feel like my bravery comesfrom doing it even when I'm
afraid more like terrified.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Wow.
To do

Speaker 4 (08:39):
So.
It's like, I don't wanna do it.
I don't wanna do it.
I've been hiding for this fromyears, really

Speaker 3 (08:44):
Years,

Speaker 4 (08:45):
Really

Speaker 3 (08:46):
Years.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
And to finally do it and to finally step out into it,
it's like, wow, pat on a bat,

Speaker 3 (08:54):
I might say yes.
Yay.
For sure.
So tell us about what you'redoing like specifically.
Cause you're, you've got some,uh, great.
Um, why am I not finding wordstoday?

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Today,

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Right?
It's Monday some greatsome great, um, events and
venues that you've been doing.

Speaker 4 (09:18):
Yes.
Well, I currently sing with agroup called his and we sing at
like different churches andevents.
And I always like you could findme like almost, almost every
Monday at poets.
Well poets realm.
Where's my words that

Speaker 3 (09:36):
Very sharp enough on you.
It's catching,

Speaker 4 (09:39):
It's catching up.
It's in Fort Myers.
And to find that informationout, people could just like
follow me on my Instagram sothey could find where that
location is at.
And as well as there is aconference for praise and
worship leaders, singers, drummers dancers, people just
loves the arts to saying dance, whatever it may be produce.

(10:00):
There's this event going down inHollywood, Florida, I believe
that's in the Mar areas.
This April 22nd to the 24th.
It's going to be a lot of likeseasoned people.
Wow.
That's into this ministry andinto this industry, that's going
to be teaching everyone thathonestly comes the tickets I
believe are limited, but they'restill selling.

(10:21):
So it's like I I'm going to bethere.
And many others are going to bethere.
So if anyone just love thataspect of just getting better at
their craft, they should reallytruly do a 10 truly attend.
Cause most definitely.
I'm a be there.
I'm gonna be there and could andcommunicate.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
You'll be okay.
You'll do good.
you'll help others, youknow, get to their true selves
as well.
Right.

Speaker 4 (10:48):
I'm going to be learning.
So if somebody wanna learn, comeon, we

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Love it.

Speaker 4 (10:53):
Let's get better together.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
That's awesome.
So we to take a little minuteright here.
Are you, do you think you cansee, I'd love to be able to hear
you?

Speaker 4 (11:05):
No, let's see because

Speaker 3 (11:09):
No pressure.

Speaker 4 (11:11):
Yeah, no pressure.
What can I say?
Let's see.
So that's not going be too much.

Speaker 5 (11:32):
Uh

Speaker 4 (11:37):
There's none like you I love the worship
.
You, you are my God and I, Iforever worship you.

(12:15):
You are alpha.
I try now.

(12:36):
Yay.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
That was amazing.
Oh beautiful.
And

Speaker 4 (12:40):
To glory,

Speaker 3 (12:41):
Your voice is so beautiful.
Even, even horse.
Yeah.
It still sounds beautiful.

And your spirit.

It's a God glory.
That is not of me.
Of him only.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
I love it.
I love that.
And that's what we, we reallyfelt when you sang, um, at the
baby shower, like, oh yeah, youhave a fabulous voice, but that
you're right.
That spirit that you bring withit.
Um, and I love that you shareare the good news through,
through your song and yourvoice.

(13:20):
That is just, it's beautiful.
Yeah.
It's really beautiful.
Thank

Speaker 4 (13:24):
You.
Thank you.
Cuz music is honestly like auniversal language.
I feel like mm-hmmyou need to sometimes understand
sometimes feeling it, right?
Yeah.
Cause not everything.
So times we get too wordy.
Some people like simple things, just make it simple.
Yeah.
So that all can receive it withno judgment.
Anything of the sorts, justreceive it and feel the spirit

(13:47):
cuz to him be the glory.
Cuz me mm-hmm I don't deserve it.
It's honestly by grace that I'mable to do this and it's
shocking.

people a gift while they'relistening, but then that stays
with you.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
