“Lived Through That” is the companion podcast to my book where I look at influential musicians of the 80s and 90s and where they are today. On this podcast, we’ll delve deeper into a single pivotal moment in the lives of some of the artists I feature in that book, as well as other artists I love and admire. The stories they tell are open, honest, and inspiring. This week's guest might not be someone you’re super familiar with, but she’s got an incredible story and is well worth your time seeking out. It’s Pearl Harbour. In 1980, she had a minor hit with the song “Driving” with her band Pearl Harbour and the Explosions. After the band broke up, she got involved with the Clash’s bassist Paul Simonon and moved to London, becoming quickly enamored with a more rock and roll sound. She recorded the rockabilly album “Don’t Follow Me, I’m Lost Too,” which got lost in the world of record company politics but found a new life this year with the re-issue on Liberation Hall Records. Her story is fascinating and filled with other icons of the era - have a listen and discover a new voice! "Snowcrop" by Blue Dot Sessions. "Fujiyama Mama" by Pearl Harbour Get Pearl's record on Bandcamp. Be sure to look out for my books, "Lived Through That" and "80s Redux" where ever you buy your books!
