A longstanding effort to bring resources under one roof for veterans and those experiencing homelessness is returning in 2025 for its 20th year.
The 2025 Project Connect Health fair and VA Stand Down will happen on October 17, 2025 at Full Blast Recreation Center in downtown Battle Creek. The event, a partnership between the City of Battle Creek, Calhoun County Homeless Coalition and the Veteran's Administration, brings together nonprofits, government agencies and local churches. The groups provide essential services to those experiencing homelessness, housing instability or other challenges.
The effort is free and open to the community with more than 500 attendees expected.
Event coordinators join Community Matters to explain the goals of the event.

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist
It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
