Just My Luck: The Subconscious Hack to Train Fortune & End the Doom Loop (Living Lucky® Podcast)

Ever wonder why some people are magnets for opportunity? This self-help episode reveals a game-changing shift that turns luck into a repeatable pattern.

Inspired by Mind Power author John Kehoe, we share the hack to reprogram your subconscious mind:

  • Good event? Say “Just my luck.”
  • Setback? Ask “How lucky am I?”

These cues train your mind to expect wins, scan challenges for agency, and co-create with possibility. Learn how gratitude becomes a high-vibration frequency that boosts confidence and attracts the right people.

Actionable Nuggets & Takeaways:

  • The Mind Power Hack: Use the mantra. “Just my luck” tags positive events as expected and repeatable. “How lucky am I?” reframes setbacks into opportunities.
  • Subconscious Programming: Your subconscious mind manifests based on programmed beliefs. Use these phrases as mental hygiene to replace limiting beliefs.
  • Gratitude is Magnetic: Gratitude is a high-vibration frequency that lifts your baseline, making your energy contagious and attracting momentum.
  • Emotional Home Check: If you thrive in chaos (emotional home), use gratitude for gentle exposure to better states.
  • Co-Creation Vortex: Actively programming your energy creates a vortex, training the universe to be in co-creation with you.
  • The Kehoe Challenge: Try the experiment for a week. Use the phrases and take one small, aligned action. Watch your attention filter widen.

Jana Shelfer (00:00):
Are you ready to create a life you crave?
Let's spin that doom loop ofnegativity into an upward
success cycle and startLiving Lucky®.

Jason Shelfer (00:14):
Good morning.

Jana Shelfer (00:15):
I'm Jana.
I'm Jason.
And we are Living Lucky®.

Jason Shelfer (00:18):
You are too.

Jana Shelfer (00:19):
Yesterday I had the opportunity to work with the
master, Mr.
John Keho.
He is the one that wrote thebook Mind Power, which I live
and breathe by.
And I actually had the chanceto sit on a Zoom call with him,

(00:40):
which was so great.
He shared with me one hack thatI want to share with all of you
because it really hit home forme.
Nice.
He says, whenever anything goodhappens to you, anything at
all, you need to say the phrase, just my luck.

Jason Shelfer (01:02):
Oh, that's interesting.

Jana Shelfer (01:04):
Because Jason and I have, whenever anything good
happens to us, we say, How luckyam I?
We turn it into a question.
That's so and he does the samething, but he uses the phrase,
just my luck.
Just my luck.

Jason Shelfer (01:18):
You know it's funny that we've been doing this
for what 10, 11 years now, andwe've come up with a lot of
these things.
I feel like we've gone the longroute to get there.

Jana Shelfer (01:28):
We have because we've discovered it what's so
crazy is we discover things onour own and we're like, yeah, I
think this is the answer.
And then as soon as we come tothat conclusion, then we get
validation from other peoplethat, yeah, this is the answer.
I'm like, well, why couldn'tyou have told us that 10 weeks
ago?

Jason Shelfer (01:48):
When the student is ready, the teacher will
appear.

Jana Shelfer (01:50):
And I feel like it comes back to Gelinda, the good
witch, is you've always had it,my dear.
You just needed to discover ityourself.

Jason Shelfer (02:00):
Yeah, it's it's so interesting because it I love
getting that validation.
Um, and the necessity is themotherhood, mother of invent in
innovation or invention.
And we needed to figure out, okay, what is it, what's that
missing piece?
What what are we what are wekind of not seeing in our lives?

(02:21):
And how do we create this worldthat we believe in or that we
believe is possible?

Jana Shelfer (02:26):
Do you think the universe was testing us and
whether or not we trust ourintuition, we trust the lessons
that we've been learning.
Do we believe in our ownabilities?

Jason Shelfer (02:40):
I think the universe was telling us, hey,
you've kind of coveredyourselves in um worldly
perspectives and what the restof the world wants from you, and
you need to get back to who youare and trusting, yes, trusting
your own intuition, trustingwho you are and what your soul
is being called for.
Like that's that's what Ithink.

Jana Shelfer (03:01):
I mean, as soon as he told me that, I wanted to
turn around and say, I've beentelling people that for years.

Jason Shelfer (03:07):
How lucky am I?

Jana Shelfer (03:08):
I I did a TEDx on it.

Jason Shelfer (03:10):
Right.

Jana Shelfer (03:10):
The the simple question, how lucky am I, will
change your life.

Jason Shelfer (03:14):
Yes.

Jana Shelfer (03:15):
And and I said, Look, John, in my like literally
in my background, it saysLiving Lucky®.
And I know he was probablythinking, what does that even
mean?
I don't know.
Uh I mean he's 91 years old.
I don't even know if he can seeme.

Jason Shelfer (03:30):
I think I and I think that though he would get
it.
Because I think he well, Ithink our souls know that we are
all just wonderfully made.
We're miraculous beings.
And if we if given the chance, there's so much more to find
that to be thankful for andgrateful for to see how lucky we
are on a daily basis.

(03:51):
But we so many people arespending time finding something
to complain about.

Jana Shelfer (03:56):
I know, but here's my question to you is why did
that validation from himreiterate everything that I've
already known?
I think it's it almost like itit amped my confidence factor to
a 10.
Whereas, you know, I've beenout speaking to people and I've

(04:19):
been like, okay, so I have thislittle trick that's gonna change
your life, and I kind of say italmost like, you know, I hope
this resonates with you.
Do you understand?
You know what I'm saying?
Instead of coming at it withconfidence, this will change
your life because it's changedmine.

Jason Shelfer (04:37):
Yeah, and that's that's interesting.

Jana Shelfer (04:40):
And it wasn't until he said, Okay, Janna, I'm
gonna share a little hack withyou.

Jason Shelfer (04:45):
I'm gonna share one of the little secret keys.

Jana Shelfer (04:47):
And I'm like, Did you listen to my 10x?
Like, that was my hack.

Jason Shelfer (04:51):
This is like when we tell people how important
gratitude is.
And gratitude, what isgratitude?
It's it's like, how lucky am Ito see that, right?
How lucky am I to have theexperience of this?

Jana Shelfer (05:02):
I just I wasn't able though to put it into words
and to articulate it.
Here, for any of you listeningright now, if you whatever
happens in your life, even ifit's something that is maybe at
the time you perceive it to notbe the best thing that's ever
happened to you, if you askyourself, how lucky am I, it

(05:23):
changes the conversation in yoursubconscious mind.

Jason Shelfer (05:26):
Yeah, it changes the narrative, the perspective.
It says, How might I look atthis differently than a
catastrophe or something that'shappening to me?
It's how it turns it intosomething that might be
happening for you.

Jana Shelfer (05:37):
And then when you start saying, How lucky am I
when things are going reallywell, you literally start
programming your energyfrequency to start creating more
of those experiences and theright people come into your path
at the right time, at the rightplace?

(05:58):
It all just feels like theuniverse is in this co-creation
with you.

Jason Shelfer (06:05):
You create this vortex, and and people look at
me sometimes like I'm crazy.
They do, but it's I will alsosay, who do you want to be
around?
Do you want to be aroundsomeone who's lucky?
Do you want to be aroundsomeone who has has that
exciting energy and it and thatthings are happening for?
Or do you want to be aroundDebbie Downer?

(06:26):
Like, who is that who's theperson that you really want to
have going out with you?
Like in and experiencing lifewith.
Right.
It's you don't want to bearound the I like I don't want
to be in that Debbie Downerenvironment.
Like it's it's because dumpDebbie Downer Downer dump is
getting rained on all the time.
There's no rainbows at the endof her rain.

(06:47):
To the point where she startsshe's manifesting the like she's
the one that's like that's herclouds.

Jana Shelfer (06:54):
That's her emotional home.
That's where she's mostcomfortable.
She's she continues to createthis because it's like, hey,
this is where I thrive.

Jason Shelfer (07:02):
She's like Eeyore and Winnie the Pooh.
She's like, she's like, where'smy rain cloud?
Where's my rain cloud?
Like, I've got to havesomething to complain about.
Right.
Um, and that's like we all wantthis new exciting experience of
life in this in this fun, andwe we want to have that.

Jana Shelfer (07:21):
I I challenge you.
I don't think everybody wantsthat.
They might say they want that, but I think deep down they feel
most comfortable thriving inchaos or in survival mode or in
victimhood.

Jason Shelfer (07:34):
And I think it's because the people around them
are feeding some neat deeperneed in there often acceptance,
attention, love, all that stuff, help, support.
Yeah, it's and that's liketheir warm little blanket that
they hide in.

Jana Shelfer (07:51):
Yes.
And so when I was speaking toJohn Kehoe yesterday, and he
said, whenever anything goodhappens to him, now this may
simply be he goes outside and hesees a million stars in the
sky.
What does he say?
He says, just my luck.

Jason Shelfer (08:09):
I lucky am I.

Jana Shelfer (08:10):
And he's actually programming his subconscious
mind.
Now we went deeper in the call, and he said, your subconscious
mind is the communication withthis greater being.
Some call it an energy, somecall it a frequency, some call
it a vibration, some call itGod, but your subconscious mind

(08:32):
is literally constantlymanifesting the experiences that
you attract or create.
Yeah.
And sometimes because we aren'taware, we have these limiting
beliefs in our subconsciousmind.
And when you have a limitingbelief that you are not even
aware of that lives or isprogrammed within your

(08:54):
subconscious mind, then youstart manifesting these
experiences, and it's it'salmost like the curriculum of
the universe to say, okay, I'mtesting you.
Have you decided to make adifferent choice?

Jason Shelfer (09:10):
Yes.
I'm gonna, it's because thatenergy is the magnet magnetism
that's gonna draw things intoyour sphere and influence.

Jana Shelfer (09:18):
Yes.

Jason Shelfer (09:19):
And that's that's a game changer, and that's what
he's saying.
If you program yourself to say, just my luck, just my luck, you
know, then you you you trainyourself to say, I'm the
luckiest person in the world, which is how I'm and really it
is a form of gratitude, is whatit is.

Jana Shelfer (09:35):
Like you said, and gratitude is one of the highest
vibrations feelings that youcan have.
It it really is, because it'sall entwined in love and joy,
and you just get in thisawe-inspiring state.

Jason Shelfer (09:52):
Yes.
I've got goosebumps.

Jana Shelfer (09:55):
Ah, how lucky are we?
Oh, just my luck.
Thanks for joining us.
And if you have a chance, checkout John Keho.
His book is called Mind Power.
It has changed my life.
I've been reading it severaltimes.
Sometimes I just read a page ortwo, but I constantly carry it
with me wherever I go.

nugget.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
