Jana Shelfer (00:00):
Are you ready to
create a life you crave?
Let's spin that doom loop ofnegativity into an upward
success cycle and startLiving Lucky®.
Jason Shelfer (00:14):
Good morning.
Jana Shelfer (00:15):
I'm Jana.
I'm Jason.
And we are Living Lucky®.
Jason Shelfer (00:18):
So are you.
Jana Shelfer (00:19):
Okay, Jason and I
have become those people.
You know, the people that walkaround the neighborhood carrying
our little speaker.
Jason Shelfer (00:26):
Carrying that
boom box.
Jana Shelfer (00:28):
So the it's so
80s, isn't it?
Jason Shelfer (00:31):
At least it's
tiny now.
Jana Shelfer (00:33):
We've been getting
out and going on walks
together, which has been really, really fun.
Jason Shelfer (00:38):
It's four o'clock
in the morning.
Do you know where yourneighbors are?
Jana Shelfer (00:42):
Okay, we didn't go
that early.
We went more like 6, 6:30.
Anyway, we carry this littlespeaker with us and we listen to
Jim Roan, one of the greatswhen it comes to
self-development.
He's saying the same thingsthat everybody is saying today.
So he was way ahead of histime.
(01:03):
However, he says it in aslightly different language
because you can tell ourlanguage may have not been
subconsciously evolved.
Yeah, language just changesover time.
Jason Shelfer (01:17):
And it's it's
just very talking to the people.
Jana Shelfer (01:20):
So it when he says
things, it hits me.
And I go, Yeah, that's it.
Jason Shelfer (01:25):
It hits me too,
because I I like to keep things
super simple.
Right?
Jem Rohn, Zig Ziggler, thosethe old school people just keep
it so simple, and it just ithits me right in my soul.
Jana Shelfer (01:37):
One thing that he
said is prove yourself to
yourself.
Jason Shelfer (01:44):
So that's simple,
and it also gives you plenty to
ponder on.
Jana Shelfer (01:49):
So I have to be
real.
This morning it it's Halloween,it's cold outside, and I was
thinking, oh, you know, maybe wecan just wait a couple hours to
go for our walk that we've beenplanning.
Jason Shelfer (02:05):
Yeah, that we
said first thing we're gonna do
this morning is get up and gofor that walk.
Jana Shelfer (02:10):
We said that
yesterday.
Yes.
And then I heard it's on thecalendar, it's in the schedule.
In my little ear, I heard proveyourself to yourself.
Because when you put thingsoff, you're proving to yourself
that either it's not important,or that you're not important,
you don't deserve it, or thedream is not worthy of the the
(02:34):
work that's involved.
Jason Shelfer (02:35):
Or you're not
worthy of the dream.
Jana Shelfer (02:37):
There's so many,
there's so many implications.
And one of the however, if youjust say, you know what, I'm
gonna prove to myself that mytime is now.
Jason Shelfer (02:48):
Yes, and that's
one of the the big things right
there is just saying, you knowwhat, it's my time is now, the
wait is over, and I get to makethat choice.
Like so many times we'll sitthere and say, I'm waiting for
my ship to come in.
Yes, right?
Like I'm I'm waiting, I'mwaiting, and we get comfortable
(03:08):
in the wait.
Like that becomes our newcomfort.
Yes.
Jana Shelfer (03:12):
So because you
know why?
It there is a layer of, well, then if it doesn't work out,
it's not me.
It's just the way it alwayshappens.
Jason Shelfer (03:23):
I was waiting.
Jana Shelfer (03:24):
Yes, I did my
part, I did my part waiting.
Jason Shelfer (03:28):
That's that's so
true.
Jana Shelfer (03:30):
It's almost a
defense mechanism.
Jason Shelfer (03:32):
It is, because if
you don't start, if you don't
actively pursue and getdiscipline about that pursuit,
then you don't have there'snothing in you that have to has
to say, I didn't learn enough, Ididn't do enough to to to get
there.
And I say that if you if youcan just take that and learn and
(03:57):
grow through it, because it'sjust about actively pursuing and
reiterating or iterating thatwhat you learn through it, yes,
that's gonna get you to it.
Jana Shelfer (04:08):
No, I'm I'm having
kind of an out-of-body
experience right now as wespeak, because I do feel I've
been working really, really hardon this dream of competitive
water skiing.
Yes.
And just in the last week, which we are now two weeks from
leaving for Australia, I havebeen experiencing all of these
(04:34):
little tiny setbacks.
And there is something insideme that I've been thinking,
okay, this is the way it goesfor me.
Do you know what I'm saying?
Like, I I mean, all theselittle things.
My cage broke me,equipment-wise, the water's
getting colder.
I went to the doctor, he said,I may have broken my hip over
(04:55):
the summer.
Like, there's just all theselittle things that have been
popping up.
And you just hit home for mebecause it's almost like the
universe is challenging me tosay, Okay, Janaa, do you want
this?
Is it your time?
Because you've got all theresources and all the
(05:16):
opportunity, make it happen.
Jason Shelfer (05:18):
And the weird
thing is also a lot of times
these the small setbacks willcover up the small
breakthroughs.
Yeah.
Because you've had so manybreakthroughs.
Jana Shelfer (05:29):
Well, I feel like
just this morning during this
podcast, I've had a mentalbreakthrough.
Jason Shelfer (05:36):
Yeah.
Jana Shelfer (05:37):
Because those
excuses no longer work for me.
Jason Shelfer (05:40):
Oh, that's huge.
Jana Shelfer (05:41):
Right?
My time is now.
When you can mark it, and I'mgonna prove it to myself, yes,
and to everyone listening thatwhen you put a dream out there
and you work toward it, theuniverse responds.
The universe responds.
Jason Shelfer (05:55):
Yes, and that's
that's just kind of a way of
taking the the mental eraser andsaying, nothing gets in my way.
You get to mark out all thetrouble and obstacle.
Like you're gonna, becauseobstacles are gonna present
themselves.
Obstacles kind of writethemselves on the dry erase
board.
And you get to take that mentaleraser and say, I'm gonna, I'm
(06:17):
gonna go get around that, getthrough it, just wipe it off,
and I'm gonna tackle this in anew way.
Like I'm gonna come up withthat new plan to get through
this.
Jana Shelfer (06:25):
My time is now.
Yes.
Prove it to yourself.
Prove it to prove yourself toyourself.
And that's just every microchoice that you make makes a
difference.
Jason Shelfer (06:37):
Yes, and that's
just choosing to start again
from where you have just climbedto, or just your ceiling
becomes your new floor.
That's thank you.
That's the way I meant to putthat.
Jana Shelfer (06:50):
No, I I understand
because we finished each
other's sandwiches.
Maybe we we should reallychange that.
Uh anyway, I feel like I'mhaving a breakthrough right now,
and all of a sudden it it'salmost like I've I'm seeing uh
all new territory in a weird, abstract sort of way.
(07:13):
I hope you're following me.
Jason Shelfer (07:14):
So the wait is
over once you choose to start.
So stop waiting for your shipto come in and go get your ship.
Jana Shelfer (07:25):
Or yeah, get
aboard.
Climb aboard.
Jason Shelfer (07:27):
Yes.
Jana Shelfer (07:28):
You know what?
I think we can end right there.
Prove yourself to yourself.
Your dreams are within reach.
Within reach.
You just need to show up.
Yeah, get disciplined.
Jason Shelfer (07:42):
If that's too
abstract for any of you, all
that means is take a step today.
Start now, start impertinent.
It doesn't have to be a bigone.
Start scared, just do somethingthat moves you towards it.
Then you can figure it outafter that.
Jana Shelfer (07:56):
I think the key
word in that sentence is just
start.
Jason Shelfer (07:59):
Just start.
Jana Shelfer (08:00):
Have a great day.
Thanks for joining us.
