create a life you crave?

success cycle and start LivingLucky®.
Good morning.
I'm Jana, I'm Jason and we areLiving Lucky®.
You are too.
We're road tripping today Roadtripping, you must be tripping.
(00:24):
We're road tripping to TennesseeI love it.
Jason Shelfer (00:27):
I love getting
behind the wheel.
I do oftentimes get anxiety acouple days before and I don't
know if it's anxiety, but it'slike a lot of my mind is in
constant state of thinking acouple days before a trip.
Jana Shelfer (00:40):
Yes, because we
think about what we don't want
to forget.
Jason Shelfer (00:42):
Yes, think about
what we don't want to forget.
Jana Shelfer (00:44):
Yes, think about
what we don't want to forget.
Jason Shelfer (00:45):
Or things that we
need to remember, Things that
we need to remember.
We think about logistics.
We think about okay, how's itgoing to pack into this?
It's like putting a Tetris boxtogether in the car.
Jana Shelfer (00:54):
Okay, anyone under
45 has no idea what you're
talking about.
Jason Shelfer (00:57):
Because they just
get in the car and go and then
they complain or play their Xboxor whatever.
Jana Shelfer (01:01):
No, because they
don't know what Tetris is.
Jason Shelfer (01:03):
That's why Okay,
I was thinking just because
someone's taking care of it forthem.
Jana Shelfer (01:10):
All right, here's
the deal.
I have to be so grateful to myhusband.
I am saying this publicly infront of you.
Jason Shelfer (01:18):
I love it.
Jana Shelfer (01:19):
Because Jason is
kind of a hard ass when it comes
to vacationing.
He's like we're leaving at 6 am.
Jason Shelfer (01:27):
Drill sergeant.
Jana Shelfer (01:29):
Feet on floor Make
sure you're ready at 6 am, jana
.
That's what time the car isleaving the parking lot.
Jason Shelfer (01:36):
That's right.
Train leaves the station.
Jana Shelfer (01:38):
I looked at him
like why are we bringing such a?
Jason Shelfer (01:43):
harsh energy.
Jana Shelfer (01:44):
Yes, and he said
because we have a 12-hour trip,
that's why.
Jason Shelfer (01:48):
Yeah, and I know
where the traffic chokeholds are
and I'm like, okay, if we canget to this point before this
time, we can avoid these delays.
Jana Shelfer (02:00):
Okay, so all of a
sudden Was it last night.
Jason Shelfer (02:05):
Yeah, it was last
night at 6.20-ish.
Jana Shelfer (02:09):
And I was like I
need to go to bed.
I'm so tired I'm going to haveto pack in the morning.
I'll just get up at you knowthe crazy hours to pack.
And all of a sudden Jasonlooked at me and he said you
know what, honey, we don't needto leave at 6.
Jason Shelfer (02:27):
Don't worry about
when we leave.
We're going to have fun.
It's just.
This isn't a timed trip.
There's not a set time.
We have to be there.
There's no deadline.
Jana Shelfer (02:37):
What I'm getting
at is this was very new for you.
Yeah, you reframed the energy, you totally reframed the energy
for yourself, and what that didfor me was it was priceless,
because all of a sudden, Ididn't have this frenetic,
frantic panic, hurry, hurry.
(02:58):
What if I forget something?
Because that's what happenswhen you hurry I'm making bad
decisions, I don't feelorganized.
Jason Shelfer (03:05):
Well, energy is
very contagious and we talk
about this all the time and, like my thought process and my
wondering okay, what's it goingto be like?
A lot of the times we wonderwhat it's going to be like and
that creates this anxietybarrier between when we're
(03:25):
leaving or when we start doingsomething.
So there's like thisanticipation and want to hurry
up and start so that we canexperience what it's going to be
like and go ahead and deal withanything that comes our way.
So that's kind of where I landand then it's a.
It's one of those things whereit's like, if I can go ahead and
(03:45):
start and I get a headstart,it's one of those things where
it's like, if I can go ahead andstart and I get a head start,
then I can, I've got time, I'vegot that runway to deal with
those things that are going tocome up.
Jana Shelfer (03:59):
And I don't delay
anything that's going to happen
in the future.
What I really want to talkabout, though, is by you
changing your energy about it,so you, literally, I mean it.
It was visual, I could feel it,tater could feel it.
Jason Shelfer (04:14):
Oh, yeah, like
normally, when we're getting
ready to go, tater can feel thisand also normally when we're
getting ready for bed, tater'slike oh yeah, let's do that,
let's get in bed.
And last night she was likebefore I I changed the energy.
She was like I'm not going toleave the door because I'm not
missing this trip, I'm gettingin that car.
Jana Shelfer (04:35):
That's what she
does.
He's got this energy aboutleaving.
Jason Shelfer (04:38):
It's going to
happen.
I'm not missing the trip.
I'm not getting in the bed.
Jana Shelfer (04:42):
As soon as Jason
opens that trunk to start
loading things, which sometimeswe're loading for a while she
will sneak in that car and shewill just sit there, and it
doesn't matter if it's hotoutside or what.
She's going to sit therebecause she doesn't want to miss
the trip.
Jason Shelfer (04:56):
And if you're new
to the podcast, tater is our
17-year-old mini Labrador.
Jana Shelfer (04:59):
Yes, and also what
I wanted to say is that, by you
changing your energy, all of asudden Tater wasn't barking like
she normally does.
Like normally, when we startpacking, she's like like I want
to go, I want to go.
Jason Shelfer (05:16):
I want to go.
Where's my stuff?
Where's my stuff?
But?
Jana Shelfer (05:19):
by you, kind of
saying you know what We'll leave
when we leave tomorrow.
We'll do our best to get upearly and to pack, but if we're
not on the road by six o'clockI'm not going to have a
conniption fit.
Jason Shelfer (05:30):
Well, I
recognized the pattern, that
because we do travel a lot, andI also took I just took a moment
to recognize the pattern that Icreate and the ripple effect
that it sends out, and I said, okay, what if it was different?
What would it look like if itwas different?
And then I said, okay, what, how am I adding to this energy?
(05:54):
And my anxiety me gettinganxious and saying okay, I want
to make sure we start on time sothat we can do these things.
The way I expressed thatanxiety was putting these strict
parameters on things.
Okay.
Jana Shelfer (06:10):
And also in the
way you carried yourself.
Jason Shelfer (06:12):
Yeah, all the
things and the way you would,
because there's tension.
Jana Shelfer (06:14):
You would kind of
not stomp around the house, but
your footsteps would get alittle heavier.
So, and what I your breathingwould be a little.
Jason Shelfer (06:21):
I fooled myself
into saying it was intentional,
so I fooled myself into thinkingit's intent, when really it was
a mask for anxiety and mask forall the little things that I
was working through in my head.
Jana Shelfer (06:41):
Jason, that's so
wise and I just I feel like
sometimes, when, when we want tochange a situation or a pattern
, many times we look at how theother person can change.
We try to change everythingoutside.
And here's the thing bychanging your own energy, you
automatically change everythingaround you.
Jason Shelfer (06:56):
Yeah, I will say
for sure today.
So it's early in the morningright now, super early, and
we're recording this a daybefore it's Tuesday morning for
us and this will drop onWednesday, but this has been the
most peaceful morning prior toa road trip that I remember
(07:17):
experiencing and I'm always veryexcited.
So it's an excited anxiety, excited nervousness, excited
anticipation, but there's apeaceful excitement which is a
very, very nice energy to be in,which is a very, very nice
energy to be in, and it's also avery loving energy to be in
(07:38):
because I feel like we'repulling, like it's very team
oriented.
Jana Shelfer (07:41):
You this morning
became a creator.
Jason Shelfer (07:45):
Yes.
Jana Shelfer (07:46):
Because we always
talk about creating our reality.
You this morning, and just yourintentional change and shift of
mindset, you changed the wholecircumstance.
Yeah.
Jason Shelfer (08:01):
And I see where I
do that in all these other
areas.
And then it was very, it wasvery significantly pointed out
to me in my own vision and mindlast night, before we, like when
we were getting ready, becausethere were all these things that
I wanted to do, like all thesethings that I wanted, like I
wanted to pack the car before wewent to bed.
(08:21):
I wanted to do all these things.
And I said you know what.
So what?
What if you know?
What?
If we just enjoyed our time inthe moment, right now?
And what if we don't leave at 6am?
What if we don't have the likeit's all okay, like let's just
enjoy each other and just be.
Jana Shelfer (08:44):
Oh my gosh, I just
feel like there's been a
transcendence here.
Jason Shelfer (08:52):
I feel good, I
feel so good.
Jana Shelfer (08:53):
I feel like I'm
Living Lucky®, I feel good and
it's only 6.54.
So we're not that extremely late.
Jason Shelfer (09:00):
Jason has this
and you know I build in some
time anyway, yeah.
Jana Shelfer (09:03):
See, I knew it.
I knew it.
You know how you and I are Likewhen I was younger, my parents
would say you need to get up atthis time.
So I would literally move theclock forward so that I would
have extra time when I woke up.
Jason Shelfer (09:23):
Do you know what?
Jana Shelfer (09:24):
I'm saying so.
I'd always set the clock like10 minutes faster so that I
would always have oh good, I getto snooze.
Do you know what I'm saying?
And you and I have naturallydone that.
It's like you automaticallybuild in time to this trip
because I'm like 12 hours.
I don't know, jason, I've beento tennessee many times many
(09:47):
times it goes pretty quicklystop and let the dog out.
Jason Shelfer (09:51):
We gotta stop and
get hot dogs.
You're building, building intime.
Jana Shelfer (09:56):
Ah, so we got to
meet in the middle, anyway.
So changing your own energychanges your circumstance, so
true, yes, okay, we have a roadtrip to get on, so shall we go.
Jason Shelfer (10:08):
Let's hit it.
Hit the road, Jack.
Jana Shelfer (10:10):
Thanks for joining
us.
Jason Shelfer (10:11):
Keep Living

Jana Shelfer (10:14):
