Hi, I'm Paula, a follower ofJesus, a grandma of six and a
retired pastor with a heart forempowering believers.
Ready to get started?
Grab your Bible, your printableresources and prepare your
heart for insights from God.
As a pastor, I've often walkedalongside church members who

(02:13):
were struggling with a fear thatwas trying to steal their joy.
But they weren't the only oneswho struggled in this way.
I remember one Saturday evening, while preparing my sermon,
when I found myself silentlywrestling with my own fears
about if the message would bemeaningful to those listening on
Sunday morning.
That's when I was drawn to thepassage in Isaiah 41.

(02:33):
10, where God reassured me withHis unwavering promise, "Do not
fear, for I am with you.
Do not be dismayed, for I amyour God.
" That night, the weight of myanxiety lifted as I found a
profound sense of peace fillingmy heart.
It was a divine reminder thatfear doesn't stand a chance when

(02:54):
we anchor ourselves in God'sunwavering presence.
Today, as we delve into ourBible study, let us all open our
hearts to that sametransformative power that can
turn our fear into faith.
In today's world, fear seems tosurround us at every turn.
Whether it's fear of theunknown, fear of failure, fear

(03:17):
of rejection or fear of thefuture, it can be overwhelming
and paralyzing.
However, as Christians, we arecalled to live a life that is
not governed by fear but byfaith in God.
The scriptures provide us withguidance and strength to
overcome fear in our lives.
In this lesson, we will explorethe theme of living without

(03:40):
fear by understanding fear, overcoming fear, and then
walking in the freedom we havein Christ.
Fear is a natural human responseto perceived threats or dangers
.
While some fears can bebeneficial, such as the fear of
physical harm, many fears arerooted in uncertainties and
anxieties that can hinder ourspiritual growth and rob us of

(04:03):
the abundant life God desiresfor us.
The Bible addresses the issueof fear extensively, reminding
us of God's sovereignty, faithfulness and love, that cast
out all fear.
Let's talk about the nature offear.
2 Timothy 1, verse 7 says, "ForGod gave us a spirit not of

(04:26):
fear, but of power and love andself-control.
" Fear can hinder our ability tolive in the fullness of God's
purpose for our lives, preventing us from taking risks
and stepping into the callingGod has for us.
1 John 4, verse 18 says, "Thereis no fear in love, but perfect

(04:47):
love casts out fear, for fearhas to do with punishment and
whoever fears has not beenperfected in love.
"Fear often stems from a lack of
understanding of God'sunconditional love and the
misconception of his character.
And of course, there areconsequences of living in fear.
Proverbs, chapter 29, verse 25says, "The fear of man lays a

(05:10):
snare, but whoever trusts in theLord is safe.
" When we live in fear ofothers' opinions or judgments,
we can become stagnant in ourspiritual growth and fail to
step into the fullness of God'splan for us.
Psalm, chapter 56, verse 3says, "When I am afraid, I put
my trust in you.

(05:31):
" Fear can erode our trust inGod's sovereignty and goodness,
leading us to rely on our ownunderstanding rather than
surrendering to his perfect will.
Despite the prevalence of fear, the Bible offers us hope and
guidance in overcoming itthrough our faith in God and his
promises.
It encourages us to trust inhis character, rely on his

(05:55):
strength and rest in his peace, knowing that he is in control of
every aspect of our lives.
Let's talk about trusting inGod's sovereignty.
Isaiah, chapter 41, verse 10says, "Fear not, for I am with
you.
Do not be dismayed, for I amyour God.
I will strengthen you, I willhelp you, I will uphold you with

(06:15):
my righteous right hand.
" His promises serve as apowerful reminder of his
constant presence and unwaveringsupport in the midst of our
fears.
First Peter, chapter 5, verse 7says, "Cast all your anxieties
on him because he cares for you.
" Surrendering our fears to Godthrough prayer and supplication

(06:37):
allows us to experience thepeace that surpasses all
understanding.
It's also important to build astrong foundation of faith.
Romans, chapter 10, verse 17tells us, "So faith comes from
hearing, and hearing through theword of Christ.
" Building our faith throughstudying the word of God and
meditating on his promisesequips us to face our fears with

(07:00):
confidence in his faithfulness.
Proverbs 3, verses 5 through 6says, "Trust in the Lord with
all your heart and do not leanon your own understanding.
In all your ways, acknowledgehim and he will make your path
straight.
" Seeking God's wisdom andguidance in every aspect of our
lives allows us to navigatethrough uncertainties without

(07:22):
succumbing to fear.
God's love is the ultimateantidote to fear.
When we fully grasp the depthof his love for us, we can live
without fear, knowing that hislove covers us and empowers us
to live boldly and confidentlyfor his glory.
Let's talk about embracingGod's unconditional love.

(07:43):
First John, chapter 4, verse 16says, "So we have come to know
and to believe the love that Godhas for us.
God is love, and whoever abidesin love abides in God, and God
abides in him.
" Embracing God's love enablesus to let go of fear and live in
the freedom that comes fromknowing we are deeply cherished

(08:05):
by our Creator, God.
Romans, chapter 8, verse 38through 39 says, "For I am sure
that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor
things present, nor things tocome, nor powers, nor height,
nor depth, nor anything else inall creation will be able to

(08:26):
separate us from the love of Godin Christ Jesus, our Lord.
" Understanding that nothing canseparate us from God's love
empowers us to face our fearswith confidence, knowing that we
are secure in his unfailinglove.
1 John, 4, verse 18-19 says,"There is no fear in love, but
perfect love casts out fear, forfear has to do with punishment,

(08:50):
and whoever fears has not beenperfected in love.
We love because he first lovedus.
" Extending God's love to othersallows us to break the chains
of fear and create a communitythat thrives in love, grace and
compassion.
1 Peter, 3, verse 8 says"Finally all of you, have unity

(09:11):
of spirit, sympathy, love forone another, a tender heart and
a humble mind.
