five minutes to catch my breath, let alone dive into deep
reflection.
One day, as I rushed out thedoor with mismatched shoes, I
realized that even in my chaosthere was a lesson.
(01:04):
Embracing God's grace andself-forgiveness, I realized
that true success in mydevotional life requires
prioritizing my spiritualpractices.

It's time to stop justsurviving and to start thriving
in your faith.
All right, let's get started.
Grab your Bible, dust off yourjournal and cozy up to your
favorite beverage and let's divein.
Have you ever felt likeemotional trauma has stolen your
sense of self, leaving youquestioning who you are and how
(02:55):
to move forward?
You might be carrying theweight of past hurts, perhaps
from loss, betrayal or eveneveryday stresses that have
piled up while trying to jugglefamily life, spiritual routines
and a quiet longing for innerpeace.
Today, we're diving into how toreclaim that confidence, one
small step at a time, by weavingtogether biblical wisdom,
(03:15):
self-care practices and thegentle art of giving yourself
room to breathe.
Here's the thing emotionaltrauma can feel like an
uninvited guest that overstaysits welcome, whispering doubts
and fears that can erode yourconfidence from the inside out.
It might stem from a certainevent, like a family crisis or a
personal loss, or it couldbuild up from ongoing challenges
(03:37):
, such as navigating a marriagewhere faith isn't shared or
managing the chaos of a busylife.
For many Christian women t hissmall "t" trauma doesn't just
affect your daily life, It seepsinto your spiritual walk,
making it hard to connect withGod consistently or feel his
peace when you need it the most.
Imagine feeling a heaviness inyour chest, wondering if you'll
(04:01):
ever feel strong again.
This is not really uncommon forthose who find themselves
tangled in emotional overwhelm, and even though the Bible
reminds us in Psalm 34, verse 18, that the Lord is close to the
brokenhearted and saves thosewho are crushed in spirit, in
the midst of trauma, it's easyto forget that promise.
(04:22):
Trauma, even small "t" trauma, can disrupt your sense of
security, causing you to secondguess your decisions, your worth
and even your ability to be alight for Christ in your family.
But here's the good news, reclaiming confidence isn't about
erasing the past, i t's aboutrebuilding on a foundation of
(04:43):
faith and self-care, onemanageable step at a time.
Let's take a look at the hiddenimpact of trauma.
When emotional trauma takeshold, it doesn't just stop at
your emotions.
It ripples into every area ofyour life.
You might notice it in the wayyou hesitate to be still and
listen for God's guidance, fearing that the quiet moments
(05:05):
will flood you with unwelcomememories.
Or perhaps it's in the mindsetthat keeps you from teaching
your children about theChristian faith, leaving you in
a space of spiritual isolation, especially if you're feeling
alone in your faith journey.
These are real struggles andthey can make you feel like you
may not measure up to the personGod created you to be.
(05:26):
But take heart, sister.
You are never alone in yourstruggles.
The Bible reminds us in Isaiah, chapter 41, verse 10, Fear not,
for I am with you.
Be not dismayed, for I am yourGod and I will strengthen you, I
will help you.
I will uphold you with myrighteous right hand.
(05:46):
Even when trauma whispers liesof inadequacy and isolation,
God's truth is louder and morepowerful.
In 2 Corinthians 1, verse 4,we're told that God comforts us
in all our troubles so that wecan comfort others.
But first we have to address thetoll these trials can take on
(06:08):
our confidence.
Trauma often leads toself-doubt, where you might
think I'm not up to this, or howcan I lead my family in faith
when I feel so broken myself?
This is where small steps addup.
By acknowledging the impact, you're already taking the first
step toward healing.
It's about recognizing thattrauma doesn't define you.
(06:31):
It's just a chapter in yourstory and, with God's help, you
can turn the page.
In my years as a pastor andcoach, I've seen how emotional
trauma can create barriers tospiritual growth.
For example, if you're a busymom trying to fit Bible reading
into your day, trauma might makethose moments feel overwhelming
instead of restorative.
(06:52):
The key lies in approaching itwith grace, holding onto the
truth that God meets us in ourmoments of weakness.
Isaiah, chapter 40, verse 31,beautifully reminds us, Those
who hope in the Lord will renewtheir strength.
To reclaim our confidence, wemust lean into that hope, even
(07:14):
when it seems beyond our grasp.
Now that we've named thechallenge, let's talk about
practical ways to move forward.
Reclaiming confidence afteremotional trauma isn't about
overnight miracles.
It's about creating sustainablerhythms that are going to
nurture your soul.
Start by incorporating simpleself-care practices that align
(07:36):
with your faith.
For example, begin with earlymorning journaling prompts tied
to scripture.
This could be asstraightforward as writing down
one Bible verse for moms withsmall kids, like Philippians,
chapter 4, verse 13 which says,I can do all things through
Christ who strengthens me, andthen reflecting on how that
verse applies to your day.
(07:57):
Another effective strategy isto build a routine that combines
emotional balance withspiritual connection.
Set aside just five minutes aday for devotionals, perhaps
using affirmations rooted inGod's word, such as, I am
fearfully and wonderfully made, from Psalm, chapter 139, verse
14.
(08:18):
Embracing a few simple stepswill not only help with stress
relief, but also reinforce youridentity in Christ, countering
the lies trauma might have triedto plant in your heart.
Remember, small steps add upand you don't have to overhaul
your entire life at once.
Make it doable today by pairingthese steps with a quick walk
(08:42):
or a cup of tea, turning theminto moments of peace amid the
busyness.
Additionally, addressingemotional pain by setting
biblical boundaries is essential, particularly if you and your
husband are not aligned when itcomes to faith.
Share your understanding ofGod's love with gentle
conversations, drawinginspiration from passages like 1
(09:04):
Peter 3:15, Always be preparedto give an answer to everyone
who asks you to give the reasonfor the hope that you have.
And remember it says "toeveryone who asks.
" So only respond when othersexpress interest.
This method focuses onpreserving your peace and allows
(09:25):
you to be a more impactfulwitness for Christ.
Over time, these boundarieswill help you regain control,
fostering a sense of confidencethat will naturally radiate into
your family life.
As you work on reclaimingconfidence, weaving in spiritual
routines can be a game changer.
For women striving to learnmore about Christianity or how
(09:46):
to teach their kids about faith, trauma many times makes these
efforts feel daunting, buthere's where consistency becomes
your ally.
Create a simple devotional planthat fits into your busy
schedule, perhaps usingjournaling prompts focused on
biblical encouragement or God'speace.
This could look like endingyour day with a short prayer and
(10:08):
reflection on a verse likeMatthew 11, verse 28.
These routines aren't justabout reading the Bible.
They're about creating space toprocess your emotions and
connect with God.
If you're feeling spirituallyalone, consider joining an
online community or Bible studygroup for busy women.
This can provide the supportyou need while helping you
(10:30):
cultivate a Bible-centeredmindset.
A nd always give yourself roomto breathe.
It's okay if some days are notas successful as others.
The goal is progress, notperfection, and as you build
these habits, you'll find yourconfidence growing alongside
your faith.
One of the biggest hurdles inreclaiming confidence is the
fear that the trauma will alwayshold you back.
(10:52):
You might worry about how towitness for Christ with your
family when you're still goingthrough the healing process
yourself, but remember Godequips us for every season.
To make this practical, tryincorporating daily affirmations
that tie back to Scripture.
For example, repeat I am strongin Christ, while reflecting on
(11:12):
Ephesians 6, verse 10.
These small, intentionalactions build resilience,
helping you balance work, familyand faith.
Over time, you'll notice ashift, a deeper sense of
empowerment and the ability tohandle life's ups and downs with
more grace.
Before we close, I want to takea few moments to pray with you,
(11:34):
because healing from trauma isnot something we do on our own.
It's a work God does within usas we surrender to him.
So take a deep breath, quietyour heart and let's go before
the Lord together.
Heavenly Father, we come to youwith open hearts, carrying the
(11:59):
weight of hurts that sometimesfeel too heavy to bear.
Lord, you see every tear, everyhidden scar and every memory
that still lingers.
We thank you that your wordstell us you are close to the
brokenhearted and that you savethose who are crushed in spirit.
Today I lift up my sisters whoare listening, those who long to
(12:19):
feel whole again, who long towalk in confidence and peace.
Father, would you touch theplaces that still ache, would
you remind them of their worthin Christ and that they are
fearfully and wonderfully made?
Wash away the lies of traumaand replace them with your Truth
.
Surround them with your Peacethat passes all understanding.
(12:42):
Give them courage to sethealthy boundaries, strength to
take small steps of faith andhope to believe that their
future is secure in you.
Lord, may their hearts findrest in you, their Healer and
Redeemer.
We pray this in your preciousand Holy name.
(13:02):
Amen.
Remember this, it's God's willfor us to come to him for
healing.
Here's the beauty of it.
