Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Living
the Dream Podcast with
Curveball, if you believe youcan achieve.
Welcome to the Living the Dreamwith Curveball Podcast, a show
where I interview guests thatteach, motivate and inspire.
(00:24):
Today, I am joined bysinger-songwriter Pam Ross.
Pam has developed her own styleof music that the fans call Pam
Music, so we're going to betalking to her about what that
is and everything that she'sbeen up to.
So, pam, thank you so much forjoining me today.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Thank you for having
me.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Why don't you start
off by telling everybody a
little bit about yourself?
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Oh gee, I don't know.
Go to PamRossMusiccom and youcan learn it all.
Yeah, I'm a songwriter and Iwas born in Pittsburgh.
I spent most of my life inHouston and I currently live in
North Carolina.
I travel to Nashville a lot andplay there.
(01:08):
That's really my favorite placeto play, but I play all over
the place.
My music is a mix of differentgenres country rock, americana,
folk, blues, pop.
Throw it all in there and mixit up and see what comes out.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Absolutely so.
If, if someone asks you what, what kind of, what genre of
music you play, what would youtell them?
Depends on what song you'relistening to.
Yeah, that's a great answer.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
That's the truth.
I mean the song that's outright now.
I'd put that in country, but mynext song that's going to be
coming out in May, that's a poprock song.
So really it depends on thesong you're listening to.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
All right, well, tell
us what got you into music.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
I always wanted to do
it.
It's my earliest memories.
You know, just a little kid I'dbe making up songs.
You know they probably didn'tmean anything, but I was making
them up.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
And it's just, you
know, it's just something that's
always been in me.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
OK, well, who are
some of your biggest musical
influences?
Who influences you to do whatyou do?
You know that's a wide gamut, alot of different people, and
that's probably why my music isthe way it is.
(02:48):
I mean, I've been influenced byeveryone from Elton John, dolly
Parton, johnny Cash to, youknow, nirvana, the Foo Fighters,
metallica, van Halen.
You know the Pretenders, rem alot of different people, okay
what tell the listeners about?
Speaker 1 (02:59):
you know you kind of
mentioned your song in May, but
but you know, tell us about yourupcoming projects that you're
working on, that we need to beaware of, and tell us all about
it and what inspired it.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Well, I'm currently
releasing my second album called
Outside the Box, and I releaseone song about every two and a
half three months and right nowwe're on the third song and it's
called Tonight, which you cango online anywhere, all the
platforms it's out there.
(03:31):
And my next single is calledhave a Good Time and it's going
to be coming out in mid-May andI'll just continually be
releasing songs all year longand playing.
I'll be playing a few showsaround the Raleigh area.
I head to Nashville.
I think in the end of May I'llbe heading back up there for a
(03:55):
while.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
And you know who
knows where else I've had the
privilege to work with and someof the artists that you hope to
work with someday.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
My lead guitarist is
named Ivan Pettit and I'm hoping
that's how you pronounce hislast name.
He lives in Canada, actually, and it was just by a stroke of
luck that I got introduced tohim and he's played on both of
my albums and, yeah, I'm justvery privileged to get to work
with him.
(04:38):
He's an amazing guitarist.
He's actually kind of famous upthere in Canada and it was
great working with me.
It's just so easy to work with, you know, and we did the whole
thing.
Um, as far as guitar work, youknow me living down here down
South and him being up in Canadajust doing it, uh, and then
(04:59):
coming to you know he'd send metracks and I'd listen and I'd be
like, ah, let's do this orlet's do that.
And then, um, I was really luckyto get to work with Mark Frigo
in Nashville and he did all themixing and mastering and he just
did an amazing job.
And he heard my first album andhe reached out to me on
Instagram and I went and vettedhim out and he's worked for a
(05:22):
lot of the big record labels inNashville mixing and he's mixed
for some of the greats.
I mean, like he's mixed forDolly Parton, willie nelson,
people like that.
Uh, you know indigo girls likereally across the gamut, and so,
um, he had struck out on hisown and he was looking for
clients.
So I was like, yeah, sure, assoon as I make my start making
(05:43):
my second album, I'll get intouch with you, which I did.
And, uh, he just did aphenomenal job, so, definitely,
you know, be keeping him for anyfuture projects that I do.
And yeah, so those are two ofthe people I've been very
fortunate to work with.
