The early church grew from 120 to over 3,000 people in one day, and continued growing at a tremendous rate. They had to wrestle with how to handle that kind of growth, and answer some serious questions along the way. We can learn some things today from the decisions they made while being guided by the Holy Spirit.

After Jesus rose from the dead, the disciples were still expecting Jesus to ascend to the throne of an earthly kingdom. Instead, Jesus prepared them for His departure and instructed them to wait for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The change that took place in the lives and ministries of the disciples can hardly be overstated. As we move toward Pentecost Sunday, We need to return to the Gospel accounts of the very last days of Jesus' earthly ministry and His last conversations with His disciples. An encounter with the risen Christ was enough to save them, restore them, and encourage them. But they still needed something else before they were ready to be the world changers Jesus was calling them to be. So do we.
