Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, hello there.
This is Living your Success24-7 with Michael K.
How are you all doing?
I hope?
Great.
Hope.
You had a great day and havinga good week.
It was hump day, right, whatthey call that Wednesday, moving
into the tail of the end of theweek.
So, but let's get to the point.
(00:24):
I want to talk about hope.
Yes, that's right, a wholepodcast about hope and maybe the
lack of hope too.
We'll touch both sides of thatcoin.
Why do I want to talk about it?
I said you know what you know.
First, number one you got to behealthy.
Health, whether that's physical, mental, spiritual, and all
(01:01):
those between you got to haveand arguably, 1.2 or 1B, because
(01:25):
1A is health.
I would say arguably the secondmost important thing to have is
hope.
Think about it, it's well.
On that, it's easier to see thelack of hope.
Well, that could be bad, because if you have no hope for
your life, or hope to realizeyour dreams and your goals, your
ambitions, the game is kind ofover, isn't it?
The game is kind of over, isn'tit?
(01:46):
And I think hope is fundamentalto our existence, because with
hope you don't quit, with hopeyou move on, hope, you get to
(02:06):
that next level.
Let's say you're playing avideo game, you're level one.
Well, if you had no hope to dowell to get to number two, you
would just quit and that's it.
Game over, quit, done Over andout, but you're still playing a
video game.
Why?
Because you want to get tolevel two.
(02:27):
And as soon as you get to leveltwo, what do you want to do?
Get to level three?
You're playing a video game.
That's hope.
That's hope.
Now, yes, I'm using the videogame analogy here, but let's
(02:47):
define hope first before we moveon.
What is hope?
What do you think it is?
Can't hear you.
What do you think it is?
Hope?
Is that belief?
Maybe a belief system, an idea,a concept that the following
(03:12):
day, week, month, year, decadewill be more fruitful than it is
today?
And today may not be horrible, but with hope not only can you
be good today, you could begreat tomorrow.
But a lot of times when wethink of hope we look at today's
suck, yesterday's suck.
(03:34):
I have hope that tomorrow andnext week won't suck.
I think that's usually whatpeople think of when they say
hope.
It usually starts from anegative.
You just keep hope alive, justkeep pushing on.
Most people don't say you needmore hope and greater hope.
(03:56):
If you got the gold medal inthe Olympics, let's say you're
in the Olympic game, you crossover the finish line first the
100 or the 200 or whatever it isand you cross over, you get a
gold medal.
Everyone's congratulating you.
No one's saying, oh hope, youhave more hope tomorrow.
(04:18):
Usually you don't hear that.
May that be appropriate.
I guess Someone got a goldmedal or they win first place.
Arguably you could say ifthey're number one, they got
hope.
That's an assumption.
But you can believe ifeverything's going all right,
you're not thinking about oh, Ineed more hope.
(04:39):
But why not think about it?
Maybe you're not at thatpinnacle of your career or that
level or that milestone yet ofyour life, but you're all right.
You can be a billionaire, millionaire, well off
financially, you have nicefamily, well adjusted kids, but
(05:03):
still you long for hope.
You want more hope.
I don't think it's anythingweird about that, even though it
does feel strange.
If you win the race, I'm goingto say I hope you get more hope
next year.
But usually you do that to thelosers, right?
Oh, keep hope.
(05:23):
You have more time to improveyour skills, your knowledge, to
get better.
Usually it's in that context.
So, whatever context it is, orwhether or not, having more hope
won't hurt, will it To just sayamen, and I accept it, thank
you.
And so let me let you stew onthat for a while.
(05:49):
So, no matter what position youare in, personal or
professionally, and we thirst, yes, we thirst for more.
Give me more, give me more.
Now, to some extent, you cancall that greed.
(06:10):
In one context, right when yourbucket is already full, your
cup has already fell to the topand you're still aiming for more
.
Now, I don't think that isconceptually evil, do you?
I don't think so.
I think.
Well, it's easy to see.
We call someone out.
(06:31):
They're being arrogant becausethey want more.
Not only do they want fivecookies, they want 10 cookies,
and my cookies too.
So you can see where that couldbe arrogant, egotistical.
So you can see where that couldbe arrogant, egotistical,
possibly evil, if you take it toan extreme like that.
But I wouldn't over-worry oranalyze other people, I would be
(06:59):
focused on myself.
Oh, let's be selfish to focuson yourself.
Yeah, I know some people aresaying oh, you focus on one,
talk about you yourself.
That means you're selfish, you're mean no, it means you're
taking care of business, justlike when you get on an airplane
and they do the safetyprocedures, you know what they
(07:23):
do first with that mask.
Put your mask on first beforehelping your child or anyone
next to you, because if you'renot together and see a lot of
people look externally at peopleand say, oh, they must be great
, they're happy, they'rewonderful.
Look, they're successful, theyhave a new fancy luxury car,
they're wearing five caratdiamond rings Necklace, they
(07:46):
seem they're always happy, neveryelling, and always the kids
are well behaved and et cetera,et cetera, et cetera.
But deep down and when you getbehind those closed doors, it's
another picture, and don't takemy word for it.
Look at those shows, thosecrime shows.
(08:09):
Well, what do the neighbors say?
And the people at church orschool or job?
They always seem so happy, theyalways seem so well-adjusted.
We did not see this coming inour neighborhood.
They always spoke and werefriendly.
This coming in our neighborhood.
They always spoke and werefriendly.
(08:29):
So that rosy-looking picturecould be deception, not one of
happiness, joy and hope, quitethe opposite.
So the point is you can't judgea book by its cover.
Either way it works, becausesomebody that's looking
miserable.
Maybe they don't feel well, maybe they're thinking, or
(08:53):
something.
They can have more joy andhappy than you.
Yeah, that's right, I said it.
So, personally, I want more hope.
Hope, I'll accept that, don'tyou?
Life is a roller coaster up anddown, down and up, and some
(09:13):
days could be a down day whereyou just the hope meter is
pretty low.
And so what do you do about it?
Well, first, we don't want youto avoid being realistic to a
situation that's serious.
You know life is love and loveis life.
(09:33):
You know, maybe it is, maybe itisn't that day, maybe it's not
a good day, maybe this isn't.
So you got bad news, ok, butthat's where hope kicks in that
you can overcome whateverchallenges.
Maybe lost your job, despitesaving the company and enriching
(09:55):
your former employer bymillions of dollars, and then
they let you go.
And so, good candidate for hope.
And again, even if you use theanalogy of baseball, get to
first base.
Well, there's two other basesto go through.
(10:16):
So I would say congratulations, congratulations, you made it to
first base, now you got to getto home plate.
Congratulations, you made it tofirst place, now you got to get
to home plate.
Another milestone, anotherfactor where hope kicks in.
What's my point of all of this?
I don't want you, my faithfullisteners Thank you so much, by
(10:39):
the way Please subscribe, hitthat notification that you know
new episodes, podcasts, arecoming out, and share it with
family and friends.
So back to the story.
So think about the positivesand, true, think about the
(11:04):
negatives too.
If you're weighing decisions of, maybe you get five offers on a
new job, five companies want tohire you.
Which one is the best one?
Or you're confronted withhaving to have surgery or not
have it.
Which doctor do I believe?
Or which school to go to, whichcar to buy, which house to buy,
(11:33):
what investment?
We always have choices and thefundamental, the nexus to all of
these options, is that wepossess hope, in my opinion,
because without that say oh, woeis me, it's done, it's over.
(11:53):
You quit your mind and thenyour body responds to your
thinking stinking thinking, yourthinking, stinking thinking.
And things can unravel fasterand spiral down faster in the
absence of hope.
Now, if you had hope, saying no, I know things look rough, they
(12:16):
look impossible, they don'tlook like they're going to turn
around, but we are going to getthrough this.
We are going to go out thereand kick this team's butt are
going to get through this.
We are going to go out thereand kick this team's butt.
We're going to win.
Or we're going to do well onthat presentation to get that
promotion.
We're going to do well onwhatever it is.
And you can't just say it.
(12:37):
I know there's a power ofpositive thinking out there, but
you got to back it up bypracticing, studying, rehearsing
.
If you're a musician, you'reabout to go on stage.
It's months, days, years ofrehearsing.
If you're in sports, practicingevery day, hours on end.
(12:59):
See, people don't see that part, not people that don't know you
, they don't People that knowyou.
See it that the struggle wasreal and you obviously had hope
because you were out therepracticing, rehearsing every
dang day and you're takingaction, action.
Action brings hope alive.
(13:21):
Just waiting for the bucket tofall down from the heavens
arguably foolish waste of time.
So remember, whatever you'rehoping for, what specific
actions do I need to take tomake that hope come to fruition,
(13:46):
to come alive, right?
So All from the one word hope.
All of this conversation, thelast few minutes, is about that.
One word for how many lettersfor HOP?
Four?
(14:06):
How many letters Four H-O-P-E.
So when it starts to rain onyou, when you're ready, when the
umbrella let's say the umbrellabroke on you, the car broke
down I want you to not give up.
I want everyone that hears thismessage Do not give up.
I want everyone that hears thismessage do not give up.
(14:27):
Push through the storms.
And let me ask you this questionhow do you get a rainbow?
How do you get rainbows?
It's, the rainbow is anaftermath of a storm, a rain,
tsunami, whatever it is.
It's the aftermath of that.
(14:47):
And then you get this nicemulticolored rainbow.
It looks pretty.
So there's life after a storm.
Because what are we talkingabout?
Hope, what's the flip side ofthat?
Some problem, some situation, despair, maybe sadness,
(15:18):
depression, maybe sadness,depression.
So it's important that yourecognize what's happening
inside of you and if you want tohelp your brothers, sister,
father, mother, friend, bestie, whatever it is, you want to be
(15:39):
able to address this, mostly bylistening.
And I'm not giving.
This is my observation andMichael Caine's experience.
I'm not giving any medicaladvice, health advice, just
giving my opinion and myexperiences.
This is how I did things and dothings and what was done to me.
(15:59):
It's like to be there to beable to put that smile on your
face, despite it raining on you.
The umbrella's broke.
It's a storm out there andyou're in it.
(16:26):
You will get through it.
Why?
Because you're sowing the seedof hope.
No matter how bad it looks like, You're not going to quit,
(16:46):
you're not going to give up.
And, ironically, some peoplewho make it to the next level or
the level beyond that levelthree, four, five because they
don't have those other thingsthat come with hope, that
internal joy, right Focus oremphasis on things that really
matter, because none of us havetaken that money with us to the
next, to the grave where it'sover.
(17:08):
No one's taken this, you know.
So build memories, please.
I'm an investor, so I'm nottalking about not investing.
But it's not about just themoney in this conversation here,
not just about the money.
The Benjamins, as they, sayyeah, invest wisely, do your
research, invest.
(17:29):
But investment is not just instocks or money or real estate.
It's in yourself, it's in yourinternal core that drives you,
like the engine of a car drivesyou.
Ooh, the motor's on.
If the motor ain't working, thecar ain't moving right.
So if you lack hope, you're notmoving toward the promised land
(17:54):
, you're not moving toward theprize, and sometimes we don't
know how close we are, how closewe are to getting that prize.
So please continue to listen tomy show.
(18:15):
And who am I?
What am I?
I'm your coach, unofficially,okay.
So I want to help as manypeople as possible.
That's my motivation.
Why?
Because that's who I am.
Some people are doctors, somepeople are lawyers.
This is me, and so there'sother people too, out there, to
(18:46):
be fair and equitable, that youcan listen to online and in real
personal life, physical, in thephysical.
Yeah, and you should.
That's what you need to do.
I'm just an available option.
How's that?
So people come first, beforemachines and other stuff.
(19:11):
And if we all would realize that, yes, this world would be a
better place and we should beable to agree to disagree
without calling each other names.
I wish the world were different, where people were open to
other people's viewpoints in amore hospitable way.
(19:32):
I hope that will happen one dayin this generation.
I hope so.
A lot of people in this time.
This is what's going on withthe economy.
They're losing hope,justifiably, I get it.
Fears of recession, fears ofnot getting another job, not
(20:01):
getting your health back towhere it was not experiencing
joy and creating good memories.
People are losing that, they'rescared, they have fear, and
those are real, and those arereal.
So, saying all that, why am Isaying that people should have
(20:27):
hope?
Because we can't give up.
That's why, under anycircumstances, any circumstances
, can we just give up and justroll over and die?
That's not an option.
That is not an option, folks.
So seek counseling if you haveprofessionals that are out an
option, that is not an option, folks.
So seek counseling if you haveProfessionals are out there,
license People that are, butregardless of license, somebody
(20:49):
that cares, right, genuinely Agood person.
One thing you can do, despitenot wanting to when you wake up,
(21:13):
when you go to that mirror, force a smile.
Even if you don't want to Smile, force it if you have to, let's
do it now.
Practice smiling from where youare.
Say, no, I don't know, I gottoo many bills due.
I don't know what's gonnahappen tomorrow.
I'm not smiling, it's horrible.
No, that may be true.
Smile here, we go, smile, smile.
(21:37):
How about laugh?
How about laugh?
Okay, mine may be sinister, Idon't know, but smile and laugh.
People say, oh, you're crazy.
Crazy with hope, crazy with joy, crazy, crazy, but I love life
(21:59):
and life, life well, life andlife, life well, life is life.
Whether the rollercoaster isgoing up or down, I'm gonna
control me.
Tell yourself, I'm gonnacontrol me.
Can't control anybody else, butI can keep my dreams, my wishes
(22:21):
, my thoughts in a positivedirection.
That's what you can do.
So I hope you got something outof this and I wish you all well
.
Continue to listen to me.
Thank you for supporting mypodcast, living your Success.
(22:44):
And again, we're about helpingyou Be the best version of you,
and so Don't spend another dayregretting and wasting more time
.
Use the time that you have, which we don't.
Spend another day regrettingand wasting more time.
Use the time that you have, which we don't know how long.
(23:04):
So that's it.
Let it run its course in ahappy way, and when things get
sad which it often will justsmile, and that'll be the first
step you can take and then gofrom there.
So, that said, this is MichaelCaine, with Living your Success
24-7.
(23:25):
You take care, my friends.
Adios.
