the corner.
I ain't just excited about that.
But I mean, you know, I'm allright, work is work.
I'm actually studying for mynext certification, uh, just
(01:28):
trying to climb up these ITranks.
You know what I'm talking about.
But I've been good bills.
I've been enjoying the summer,uh, even though it's coming to a
close, um, I just I've justbeen maxing, relaxing you just
been maxing and relaxing.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
You done been on some
trips.
You been to Chicago.
I.
Speaker 1 (01:44):

Speaker 2 (01:45):
How was that?
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Oh shoot Yo.
Chicago was lit man.
I went out there and visited mysister for the weekend.
She done took me to all thesebougie-ass restaurants and happy
hours.
And hey, like we I mean we hadso much fun and I just saw like
I've been to Chicago before, butlike this time it was like
different, like I was justseeing like another side of
(02:07):
Chicago, okay, um, and I mean wethen went on like a boat tour.
Man, when they say summertimeshy, I get it like.
I literally get it like it's.
It's different.
They got like this river walk, like it's like two, three, four,
five miles long river walkStraight up bars and restaurants
(02:29):
and people just out therehaving a good time.
It's diverse.
Chicago, I F with it.
It's like one of my othercities.
I always say I have differentcities.
They're my favorite Chicago isup there like it's just the
culture.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Um, everyone was kind
of cool like it wasn't a South
like everybody gonna be like hey, how you doing, how's your day
right, they're not like that.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
But super cool.
Everybody kind of sits there, but if you got a question,
they're gonna answer it, boom, boom, boom.
So, like I asked with Chi townum, what else did we do out
there?
We did a lot of stuff.
We ate a lot they have reallygood oysters, by the way, oh
dude yeah, and they believe inrooftops.
They love a good rooftop and Ilove a good rooftop, so it was
(03:16):
like a match made in heaven forreal.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
How was the weather?
The weather was good like um.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
it gets a little
chilly at night, but nothing too
strange.
It was because it was by one ofthe Great Lakes.
Don't ask me which one, I don'tremember.
But it's by one of the GreatLakes, so at night it gets a
little chilly, but other thanthat the weather was perfect.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
They don't owe you
nothing, chicago, don't owe you
nothing, not a dime.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
I'm not mad at it.
What about yourself, Vales?
A little birdie had a rumor.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Well, you know my
summer, as everyone knows.
I'm a coach, I'm a teacher.
My summer has definitely cometo an end, it's over with, but I
do have some exciting news.
Like I just mentioned, Like Ijust mentioned before, most of
y'all know that I am a coach andjust got a new job.
I am now the head coach atUrban Nimitz High School.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Hey, we're going to
clap that up If y'all didn't
hear it.
She said she is now the headcoach.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Amen, yeah, which is
crazy, like just saying it
verbally, but you know, I'mexcited, I'm I'm thankful, I'm
grateful, I'm blessed, uh, to bein this situation and, you know
, to be able to have my ownprogram run.
My own program, yes, um, it was.
This summer wasn't just likesuper eventful for me only
because you, you know, I waslocked in no pun intended Trying
(04:47):
to get this job.
And yeah, we're here now.
The school year has started inmy first week of school at Irvin
Nimitz.
And, yeah, we all in babyNimitz Nation stand up.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
We all in.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
Representing that
navy blue, silver and white.
Come on, and I'm excited andI'm ready to work.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
let's go hey, man,
look, I cannot be more proudly
viewed than I am right now.
Bills, this is something you'vebeen working hard towards and
you finally have reached a goal.
This is this is just thebeginning.
Um, this is your program.
Like I said, you run it the wayyou want to Forget all the
(05:28):
naysayers, forget anybody that'strying to put any negativity in
your mind.
This is yours and, man, youknow I'm stepping 110 behind you
, like the sports is definitelybehind you.
So, like dude, this is yourseason Thrive.
May God continue to bless youalong your journey.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
I appreciate that,
lisa.
I appreciate it all right.
So now that all of that is outthe way, we're gonna go ahead
and get it to it.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Let's get into it.
The olympics, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
The olympics man.
The olympics just ended um andit was.
It was entertaining.
I will say that very much um itwas one thing that I was
anticipating after the nbaseason was over with.
I was ready to watch them.
Guys, like just you, team usaperiod, like you know, all
across the board.
But just yeah, you know, briansteph kd, you was ready for usa
(06:25):
basketball.
I was look and you know, and Ijust knew it would be, I just
knew it would be good.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
But yeah, anyway, the
olympics, the olympics, the
olympics.
You know what?
What I was most looking forwardto was the track and field oh
yeah, of course I want to seethat, like for some reason with
the basketball, we alwaysdominated, that we do so.
I wasn't like well, as of late.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
I don't know it's
been tough, but but most of the
time yes right, like we usuallydominated that.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
So I wasn't over
excited or hyped for that event.
I was like trapped for somereason, because it's so and also
depending on the event as well.
But it's like, it's personal,Like it's just you, it's
definitely personal, like it'syou against everybody else, like
it's just you.
So it's like I wanted to seehow some of the big stars was
(07:17):
going to.
You know, handle the pressure.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Me too.
We're talking about ourSha'Carys.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
We're talking about
our Sha'Carys.
We're talking about our NoahLouds.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
Yes, we're talking
about?
Well, we were talking aboutShelly Ann Frazier, Right and
Sharika from Jamaica, but yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
Well, they didn't run
.
Let's talk about it.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
Shelly Ann Frazier.
She ran, you know she ran.
But she didn't run the.
Yeah, she ran in her heat andshe finished number two, I think
.
I think she finished second, but she did not run in the final
.
I heard two things.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
One.
It was because of a hamstringinjury.
That was the latter.
That was what we found outafter everything happened.
That wasn't it?
And then the second thing is Iguess they were locked out of
the field for some strangereason.
They couldn't get on thepractice uh track and like warm
up properly, like they normallydo, yeah and so yeah, and it's.
(08:16):
There's a video surfacing on theinternet like that shows them
trying to get in, not only her,her Shelly Ann Frazier Parker
from Jamaica or not Parker, butShelly Ann Frazier Price, she
was trying to get in and thenthey show Sha'Carri in the
background, kind of like justsitting on the curb Like man,
like you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
That's crazy.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
And so, but Sha'Carri
still got out there and ran she
did she walked, it, she walkedit.
Yeah, she got silver, unfortunately, but it's not
unfortunate, but it's like wewant her to get gold.
Oh, absolutely, there was roomfor Shakira Witch.
She still did get a gold medalwith the 4x4 team, I think, but
yeah, that's why she didn't run.
(08:57):
I heard that Sharika, the othergirl from Jamaica, the other
fast one, she didn't run becauseshe had injured three weeks
before, three weeks prior, andshe was gonna wait to her race
like her 200, like she runs inthe 200 yeah, she's gonna wait
to just compete in that, but sheended up not competing at all
wow and what is for the samereason no, just because she had
got injured three weeks before.
(09:18):
So she kind of wanted to saveher best for that race gotcha,
and I never saw her run, but itwas.
I mean, it was good all across.
I don't even know where we wantto start.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Do we want to start
with, like, just stay track I
mean, let's just, let's just go,let's just keep going and um.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
So then, uh, shikari
won uh silver in the hundred
final.
And then the girl that beat her, uh, where was she from?
I can't think of her name StLucia, st Lucia.
And that was the first goldmedal that they had ever
captured.
You know what?
Speaker 1 (09:49):
I mean.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
So it was big time
for her.
She's a celebrity now.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Oh, yeah, oh
absolutely.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
She will never have
to pay for another thing in that
country, ever again.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
And one of their
first medals.
What?
Speaker 2 (10:07):
And so that race was
crazy, though like I was getting
up and watching just the heat, like it's 4 30 in the morning,
I'm setting alarms to get up andwatch that because it was live.
You know they're in paris sevenhour difference and so like
there was a couple of things I'mlike, okay, I'm gonna get up
for this and watch.
It was tough the mornings wastough because I was tired the
rest of the day, but you know itwas the Olympics was very
entertaining.
Then we got Noah Louse man who?
(10:29):
well, it was some other womentoo.
Um the hurt, uh, and.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
Gabby Thomas.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
Gabby Thomas um, it
was somebody.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
TT.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
I can't remember her
last name and I know these
things, but um, yeah, yeah, andso we know, allows.
You know his race is a 200meter race and you know, but he
competed in 100 which in the um,in the, in his heat, he
(10:58):
finished second.
You know, I mean, but you knownoah is very he taught he, he
arrogant, he gonna talk hisstuff he gonna absolutely say
what he gotta say, because hefeels like, you know, he's the
fastest period man personalalive right and we gotta move.
But what was crazy about Noahwas, just like you know, he came
up, he did win the 100, he did,he did win the gold in the 100
(11:20):
meter, but his race to 200, helost, yep.
And then, of course, well, hedidn't, he didn't lose, he
didn't lose.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
He got second.
No, he got bronze.
He got bronze.
Yeah, he got bronze and so um.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
but right after the
race, he over there acting like
he dehydrated.
Well, I'm not gonna say he wasactive, but now he's dehydrated,
yeah and all of.
And then, of course, shortlyafter that, we found out that he
had COVID Right Right.
For two days, until he was, youknow, he didn't have COVID
anymore.
Then it was a video surfacingon the internet of him in the
(11:57):
club dancing.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
Thank you, I'm glad
you brought that up.
I'm glad you brought that up itwas, but you know, and I'm
going to let you interject onthat up.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
I'm glad you brought
that up, it was.
But you know, and I'm gonna letyou, and I'm gonna let you
interject on that, I'm gonna letyou interject, but it's just
crazy that he did that and it'sjust like.
So what I was gonna say is, youknow, he did all of that, but
at the end of the day, and thenit's what he said months ago,
when he was just like you, youknow, when the NBA, when, when
(12:25):
NBA, when you win a championship, and they caught themselves
like world champions that's whatthe NBA calls them world
champions and he didn't agreewith that.
And so I'm just like, okay, Idisagree with him.
Then I disagree with him thenwhen he said it, but I
understood what he was saying atthe same time, kind of, you
(12:46):
know, I mean, but of course, when we get to the olympics,
it's like a little beef between,uh, team usa men's basketball
and noah laus, right, right, andit's just like.
It's funny, obviously, when yousee it on the internet and you
know, you see the memes andstuff.
But at the same time I'm likewhy can't we all just we
supposed to all be rooting foreach other, right period, like
(13:07):
we are, but the beef was.
It's funny, it's entertaining, but it's just like we all team
usa, we all trying to, we allout here trying to win period,
you know I mean no, I agree, andyou had mentioned, like after
the race, how he was all likepassing out and feeling like he
was also sick.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
I actually fell for
that, like I really believe that
he wasn't feeling well.
And then when it comes back outthat he had covid, I was okay.
Now that makes all the sense, right.
But then when the video comesout that he was all at the club,
I mean jamming hard.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Well, he, well, he
tested negative.
Okay, well, it was two dayslater.
He's like he don't have covetanymore.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
He posted it himself,
okay, okay, um so if you ever
had covet before I mean maybethis is the new covet, maybe
it's the 2024 COVID, I don'tknow, but if you've never had
COVID before, you don't, justafter two days of doing what he
just did, be all at the clubdoing what he was online like he
(14:17):
was celebrating his gold medal, his bronze in the 100 meter
gold but what I'm saying is Ifeel like it was more so.
He was embarrassed, that youknow, because he does talk all
that shit.
You know what I'm saying?
He talks a lot of noise, so hedidn't complete the mission, he
(14:38):
didn't get the gold medal thathe wanted in the 200.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
He got the 100.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
I mean he got the 100
, but he wanted the 200, he got
the 100.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
I mean he got the 100
, but he wanted to, which was
crazy, by the way that race wascrazy it was.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
But what I'm saying
is like I felt like it was more
so an embarrassment now afterseeing that video of him being
all out like that.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
Yeah, but I mean but
you know I root for everybody.
I rooted for him in the 100.
I thought that was a great race.
I didn't get to watch the 200,um, but I saw that he had came
in third, I believe, on that andso he came.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
He didn't even come
out the gate.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
Good I didn't.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
I didn't get to watch
that race and I need to go back
and watch it yeah, but yeah,it's, it's been.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
I'm proud of shakari,
I'm proud of noah, I'm proud of
, you know, um team usa men andWomen's Basketball, which we can
get into that right now, and itwas entertaining for me.
I watched all of the men'sgames.
The women's games was coming onat weird times, but I did watch
most of it and to me I was justlike okay, I can kind of miss
(15:40):
some of the women's gamesbecause we're killing everybody.
They running through people.
Until the gold medal game, theywas just having their way.
Now it's some talent around theworld on the women's side.
It was some hoopers out there.
It was a hooper from Nigeria,it was one that I liked from
China, it was some players, butthey was running through
(16:02):
everybody.
So I'm like, okay, I'm going topay attention more to the men's
side because they was overthere fighting for their life a
little bit, but you know theytook care of business and pool
play.
But then once it mattered, oncethose games started mattering,
like those games started gettingreally good.
And I want to say this rightnow like the rest of the world
is catching up, oh, absolutely, especially when it comes to
(16:22):
basketball, because there's somany different resources, so
many different outlets that youcan use to learn the game
wherever you are.
That is, I mean it's.
We have youtube now, like wehave the internet, like
everything you know.
Trainers are over there, rightteams are being ran over there,
like the rest of the world hascaught up as far as playing the
game of basketball, and I hatewhen well, I'm not going to say
(16:44):
hate, but like people on theinternet have been talking about
, like you know, the dream teamand you know how they was yeah,
the redeem team, and then like, but how, the dream team was just
running through everybody, theywas beating them by like 50-60,
they was killing them but itwas a different time, different
era, and that's why I said thegame has changed.
It's not like the us is not asdominant on the men's side as
(17:06):
they have been in the past, likethey are dominant.
Obviously we just want to go,but the words the rest of the
world's.
You got your yokish, you gotyour yokiches.
You got your lucas, even thoughlooking them didn't make it,
but you got your yannis's.
You got your wimby's like yougot people from it.
Like you got your shy uh,gilligis alexanders, you got
people from it.
Like you got your shy.
Gilligan's Alexanders, you gotyour everybody.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
You know what I mean.
And even South Sudan put on theshow.
Yeah, they was hoping they wasthey.
Team USA beat them in pool playthe men by one point in pool
play, and they still gave themhell in the second game when it
mattered.
But I mean, team USA kind oftook off on them, hooped and now
, uh, but yeah, the rest of theworld is catching up.
(17:48):
But I will say, on the men'sside, they took care of business
.
Brian did his thing, kd did histhing whenever he could, steph
went off the last two games, chef Curry, chef man, and to
watch that and to like see thatand be able to root for him was
(18:09):
just different, because it'slike we want this gold medal and
like it was.
I enjoyed it, it wasentertaining, it was good like
they had to fight for this.
When the men did, yeah thewomen.
You know, they coasted, yeah.
But then that gold medal game, they had to fight against France
.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
They did.
You know what I mean.
Let's go back to the men.
Go back, go back, go back.
I got questions for you.
Yeah, let's talk about SouthSudan.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
That one point
victory.
That had everybody kind of likeooh, uh-oh yeah, Are we not as?
Speaker 2 (18:44):
dominant people were
already thinking that anyway,
but the odds were crazy.
Like they had them, beatingthem by like at least 25 plus,
you know what I mean.
And it wasn't covering, so wewas mad, cause then they?
Speaker 1 (18:59):
they prize picks, but
yeah.
South Sudan but yeah, so wereyou nervous going into that next
game.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
No.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
And I'm being real,
you had to play them again Again
.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
No, I was not,
because I knew Like, yeah, y'all
saw what it was before.
Y'all only won by one point.
Right Now, it's time to takecare of business.
Friend, we're trying to get thegold.
These games matter.
You got to do whatever you gotto do to win.
Absolutely, period, absolutely.
You would be the laughing stockof everything if you would have
let south sudan come in andbeat you.
I knew they were gonna.
I knew they were gonna.
(19:33):
Take care of business againstthem.
It was still a good game.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
They would have been
a mean for the rest of the year.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
That would have been
really, really bad, really bad,
really bad.
Like I mean, I don't even knowhow to explain how bad that
would have been right but yeah, they took her business against
them they did.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
Um, and my next thing
, you know we have to talk about
it, right, jason tatum.
So I gotta get your tape,because I, because I didn't, I
didn't really watch too much ofthat, I just watched the last
game so.
So Jason Tatum, from myunderstanding he didn't get.
No burn in, not a whole lot.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
Okay, there was two
DNPs.
I heard about that and I feltlike he should have gotten
minutes in every game.
I'm going to just be real Okay.
Jason can contribute in somesort of way.
He's athletic.
They just won the championship.
You know what I mean.
He got teammates on the team.
I think he would have been ableto contribute.
(20:31):
But he also kind of struggled alittle bit in the playoffs.
Not saying that that had to doanything with him you know being
able to get minutes with thisteam but he did struggle a
little bit.
He did his thing but hestruggled a little bit.
Jaylen brown got the uh finalsmvp and all of that.
You know I mean, but I, I, so II felt like he should have
(20:57):
played in those dmps, but thenat the same time I really didn't
care right I don't think youlike Jason Tatum.
I do, I like Jason, I really do.
He's a sweet guy.
Yeah, you know what I mean.
I mess with Jason, you knowwhat I mean, and he can hoop,
but I really wasn't trippingabout him not getting those
minutes, but I did feel like heshould have played in every game
, like I was like, okay, steve, like his head that is true.
(21:20):
Like you can throw him in there.
So everybody else has played.
Yeah, now Tyrese Halliburtonwasn't playing much either, but
everybody expected that.
Right, jason Tatum, you got toput him out there.
Speaker 1 (21:31):
Just to see what he
can do.
Just to see, just to see, and Ithought I think y'all saw,
though right, you say hestruggled.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
A little bit in the
play, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
But no, even he
played a couple of minutes.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Yes, and he
definitely struggled a little
bit playing with Team USA, butat the same time, I understand
that you have to find and get arhythm.
If you're on and off, on andoff, on and off, like you're
never going to find that youknow what I mean.
But see, it's the OlympicsRight, and we ain't got time to
be finding rhythms.
We ain't got time.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
We just don't have
time, you know what I'm saying.
So now this poses anotherquestion.
I know we're going too long, but this is opening up in a can,
so maybe we gotta start Digginginto Jason Tatum a little bit.
Is he as elite as where peopleare making him out to be?
Speaker 2 (22:25):
I think he's still an
elite player.
I just think he needs to be.
He has to go on a run wherehe's consistent like the entire
time, to prove like, okay, jasonTatum is really him.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
He has talent, but
then if you're saying that you
can't crown him as him beingelite, I think he's still, it's
kind of a weird you're funny hecan be an elite player.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
We've seen it.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
We've seen it but you
have to be elite consistently
you can have off nights.
But if you are elite you wouldhave got some burn in the
Olympics because guess what?
That's where the elites go toplay.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
Yeah Well, people
just felt like it was wrong for
Steve Kerr to limit him tominutes.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
He should have gave
up some burn have those two DMPs
which was crazy.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Like them DMPs was
crazy and it was a funny meme
going around and I'm not evengoing to say it, but you know
that's pretty much what SteveKerr kind of did once he played.
He started him in the followinggame and I thought it was cool
that you know they was on a fastbreak, they was in transition
and he was out in front.
So somebody got the rebound, gave it to steph, steph passed
(23:41):
it up to jason, he got him adunk like I thought that was
cool.
You know what I mean like, lethim, let him get some burn and
let him have somethingmeaningful to absolutely put
forward to this gold medal thatyou, that they trying to get,
you know I mean, because that isa confidence killer it is, it
can be, it can mess with you, even though in my mind, if I'm
jason, I just wouldn't chip yeahI don't like, look cool, I can,
(24:02):
hey, if I ain't gotta play toomany minutes and I can, I can,
you know, kind of coast a littlebit, rest my legs and get a
gold medal at the same time andbe around all of these greats.
Yeah, I'm cool with it.
I'm not even gonna take nooffense because you know why,
you know why I'm going to comeback better next year, like I'm
going to come back and showy'all yeah, next season.
(24:24):
What I'm about?
So cool.
I just got a chance, I'mcoasting, I'm good I was just in
a parade three weeks ago.
You know what I mean.
Like that's, if I'm Jason Tatum, that's how I would be thinking
, and he just had another kidwith Ella Mae like that's.
If I'm jason tatum, that's howI would be thinking.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
And he just had
another kid, yeah, so he should
be on lma, right.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Okay, you know yeah,
but you know he should, he, he
definitely, definitely shouldhave played in all of the games.
But I'm not mad at the minutesthat he got because of the wins,
that we were like that, we likewe took care of business, we
did so yeah that's real.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
That's the one to
pick your brain on now.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
Yeah, so we're gonna
move on from the olympics um, I
do want to say that team usaoverall you gotta mention,
simone biles bro, simone I'mtripping, I am tripping, I am
tripping, I'm tri, we can't moveon.
We can't move on just yet.
Yeah, you got it, man, I'm soglad that Simone came back, yes,
and redeemed herself Absolutelyand did not give up in Tokyo.
(25:27):
She didn't leave it in Tokyo,no, she came to Paris and she
proved to herself, she proved tothe nation, she proved to the
world that she's still great atwhat she does.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
She is the GOAT yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
Yeah, and I'm happy
that she did.
You know what I mean.
And she worked too Like I triedto watch her little documentary
on one of the.
Yeah, on Netflix, you know, trying to just and she was
getting up, she was grinding it,but it was really something
mental going on with her thatshe could not shake.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
Right, they mental
going on with her that she could
not shake right they call themthe twit twitsies, the yeah
which is weird.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Yeah, they can't get
that count right, right and
that's a real thing and that'sscary because the way they be
flipping turn.
You can't count how many you'llbreak your neck like, and
that's why she had to kind ofchill, because she's like, yeah,
okay and to think that, likepeople, I remember during that
time period people was likereally coming down on her,
(26:22):
calling her soft yeah, they were, and that and it's like that's
why people that's not doing thatkind of work need to be quiet.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
They do like
seriously, because you have, if
you're not out there competingin that kind of capacity, you've
never even done anything beforeyou don't know you have no idea
what it's like or what kind ofmental jackups you be having,
like you don't know, mm-hmm.
So we got to take it easy onthese athletes.
They're regular people.
(26:52):
They just got a gift.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, a special talent.
I don't know, I ain't going toget on my soapbox, go ahead.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
You just don't If
you're not an athlete,
especially if you ain't neverplayed a sport.
You've never done it.
You don't know what it's liketo do that.
Get on a balance, beam, flipand land.
You don't know what it's like.
I don't know what it's like.
I don't know what it's like todo that and I'm not gonna try.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
No, you know I mean
at all so, and if you ever catch
me trying, please stop test me.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
No, just tell me no,
for real get down but but I'm
proud of her man, no, and I'mjust proud of the whole
gymnastic team as well, but I'mproud of her man.
No, and I'm just proud of thewhole gymnastic team as well,
but I'm proud of her.
Um, it was a very kind gesture,uh, and I forgot what country
she's from when the girl wongold medal and simone and I had
already won gold in differentevents, um, but they kind of
(27:51):
like bowed to her and just madeher feel special, yeah they
heard that moment.
Yeah, like that was so classythat was, that was that really
was um, um, I'm just proud ofsimone and and all the team.
Usa man, and before we andbefore we, do you have anything
else?
Speaker 1 (28:07):
to say about no.
No, I just want to say, likethat moment that you, that you
were speaking of, like no, thatwas a really truly, when you
think about that, that is amoment, yeah, you know, yeah,
that they did, did that for her,and that just shows the unity
yeah, and even honestly, and notjust that, but even it was
another clip of the girl infrance.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
She didn't really,
you know, do too good and uh, I
don't think she um was able tocompete for a medal and the
other girls from I forgot whatcountry it was, but they was
consoling her because she wascrying and they talked to her
for a good like minute and ahalf, two minutes.
You know that's a long, littletalk between somebody that
you're competing against andyeah, I feel like that was a
(28:48):
special moment too and it justshows, just like you know, we
can be together if we just try.
And the Olympics is bigger thanjust the sports.
Like you really see all ofthose countries coming together,
like if they can do it and Ihope it wasn't no fights and
then in the village and thenlike that, no mess and then, but
(29:14):
if they can do it, that shouldjust be a blueprint of what the
world could be.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
Man, you said a word
right there.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
That could be a
blueprint, it could be, but you
know, we just it's a lot goingon, but we're going to move on
from the Olympics.
I will say that.
And there's two more things Iwant to say about the Olympics.
Sure, First of all, team USAwinning.
They had 126 medals total, sothey pretty much won in that
category, Absolutely.
They tied with China, thoughTeam USA and China tied with 40
(29:43):
gold medals.
Oh, wow and yeah, so I thoughtthat was cool.
And then also, last but notleast, snoop Dogg was everywhere
.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
Yeah, he was.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
He was everywhere.
It's like where's Waddle,where's Snoop, where's Snoop
today, that is crazy.
He was everywhere.
He was out there doing histhing and I wondered if he was
going to be out there the wholetime and he was.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
He was Two weeks in
Paris.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
Yeah, must be nice,
must be, must be nice.
But yeah, that's the Olympics, that's the Olympics we're going
to move on to the next.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Okay, we have to talk
about the girls, though we have
to talk about Team USA.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
Women and we meant to
.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
We got the gold,
mm-hmm, but it was no easy task.
At the end there, it was notBecause you had mentioned we
rolled through everybody, butwhen we got to the middle rank
it was tough going up againstFrance.
Yeah, a person that stood outto me the most from that team
and it was quite a few, but theone that just really stuck out
(30:45):
like a sore thumb was GabbyWilliams Mm-hmm, she tough.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
In the gold medal
game for sure.
Yes, yeah she's cold.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
She's cold and like I
was really watching that game
at first.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
I was like man, we're
gonna probably beat him.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
I wasn't gonna really
pay attention to it like that,
but I was like, oh shoot, theyhanging, they hanging tough, and
she, she just pulling up, she, they had the lead.
That was over like 10, 15 yeahyeah, like it was, it was.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
I woke up to watch
that game.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
She was balling.
She needs to be a part ofsomebody's WNBA team Like ASAP.
She literally needs to be apart of somebody's team.
Angel had kind of made a littlejoke or something like that,
trying to recruit her.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
I saw it.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
I saw her tweet.
Gary was just like we can teamup somewhere else, Whatever,
whatever, but why hasn't shebeen picked up yet?
Speaker 2 (31:44):
Like I mean, I know,
we just get back in there.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
It's early, give it
some time.
I'm sorry, I'm calling her thenext day.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
Well, I'm sure they
did, but you still have to work
out things Contracts, negotiations, that's true do you
think that'd be a good pickupfor the wings?
I do.
I think Gabby Williams wouldfit with the wings because of
you have Arike at point and thenyou have which.
(32:12):
They just got rid of Billings, they just got rid of Odyssey and
we'll get to that and then youhave Satu back.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
Yep, she's back.
Speaker 2 (32:22):
And Gabby is very
aggressive.
She goes get her.
She's not scared, she's notafraid.
I think she put on a show for areason, or she tried to.
You know what I mean and itworked out for her, and I think
she's showing them like hey, Igot game too.
Put me in a W.
I may have been in the leaguebefore and I had to play
overseas, but I still do this.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
Yeah, against the
best Right as you can see,
against the best, she,single-handedly, was going to
wield them to victory For real.
She was Single-handedly, shecould have shot at the end that
could have took it into overtimeand who knows, at that point,
oh my gosh.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
I don't even want to
think about that, I don't?
Hey, I was nervous.
I was nervous too.
Speaker 1 (33:04):
I was like, okay, if
I could be real.
I wanted Team USA to win,Because I just did not want to
hear the slurs.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Of course we have to.
Speaker 1 (33:13):
They have a, but a
part of me wanted a good
Cinderella-ass story.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
I ain't gonna lie, I
want to be one of the cinderella
story.
The women had to win.
I know that's what I'm saying?
Speaker 1 (33:23):
like I know, like no,
they had to win, yeah, but it
was just like a part of me waslike damn pulling for.
You know I'm saying theunderdog, you know.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
So yeah, and it was,
and it was the home crowd.
They had that on their side itwas a tough the hurt both teams,
the men and the women, both inthe gold medal game, which was
crazy but yeah it meantsomething to them it meant
(33:54):
something to them it didabsolutely and it was dope to
see it was definitely.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
Somebody needs to go
get Gabby.
There's no reason why she's notin the league.
I feel like they will, and itneed to be the wings.
And since we're here, let's goahead and just get into the WNBA
BZ.
Drop the beat, all right, theDallas Wings man.
(34:27):
Drop the beat all right, thesedallas wings man.
I know we were played withinjury before and I say we.
I because home team still gonnaroot, but I know we were played
with injury before and wehaven't had the best of seasons,
but I feel, feel like we'remaking dumb decisions, you know,
along the way, along thisjourney.
Yeah, you had mentioned earlier.
Satu is back.
We welcome her, we want her tobe back.
(34:49):
We needed her, right, evidently.
Who else is back?
Maddie's back?
We need Maddie in her shooting, but she's not.
Maddie has had a good year, butI don't.
Maddie's back.
We need Maddie in her shooting, but she's not.
Maddie has had a good year, butI don't feel Maddie is as
consistent.
Speaker 2 (35:03):
I feel like she was
being consistent this season,
yeah, this season.
This is her second season inthe league she's progressing.
That's all that matters, thatis true, but I felt like and she
was, you're right, she wasputting up.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
She was averaging
about 12, 14 okay, you're right,
you're right, um, and then Iforgot who else is coming back.
I can't jaylen brown and Idon't.
I'm not even familiar with hergame.
You know what I mean.
But we let I feel like we let agood piece go.
Yeah, yeah, a couple of goodpieces, a couple of good pieces.
(35:39):
But I'm more so saying Odyssey, odyssey, sims man, she gave us
buckets, she did, she started.
I believe she started.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
Yeah, she was
definitely starting.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
So like I get that
she was on a hardship contract.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
You got to work
something out, man and she at
home.
Figure it out, figure it out, let's go.
That's the hometown hero, right?
Speaker 1 (36:02):
you gotta figure that
out, you have to like,
legitimately have to like.
I just feel like the wings arecontinuing to disappoint me, the
, the management, not not theteam itself, but the management
is piss poor in my opinion.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
In my opinion sound
like one of my coaches.
Speaker 1 (36:22):
No I'm just being
honest here.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
You dropped the ball
on angel reese I don't even know
how you let that.
Oh yeah, we yeah, and we talkedabout it.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
I'm not I'm not going
into detail, but I'm just.
I'm just highlighting what thewings are doing wrong currently.
You drop the ball of injuries.
You have the number fivefucking pick and you and you
drop the ball on that.
Then you don't.
Well, but even before then youdon't even sign odyssey to, uh,
what I quote unquote a long-termdeal, whatever that means.
(36:52):
You don't sign her to that, youlet her go.
Um, then you pick her up.
You know, when you figure outthat you're playing with the
injury bug and you don't haveenough people on your team to
play sign to this hardshiplicense, she goes out her first
game, she dropping 18 and Ibelieve I was there for that
game that right gets the links.
(37:14):
She dropped 18 off the streetoff the street that Off the
street.
That's crazy, am I?
Speaker 2 (37:21):
lying?
No, you're not.
I'm just saying no, I know I'mjust saying Like off the street
18.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
I get it, enrique is
a very special player.
She's good, she get the buckets, but she can't do it alone.
Nobody can do it alone.
Like literally no one can do italone.
Nobody can do it alone.
Literally no one can do italone.
When you have a player likeOdyssey or like Monique that
consistently can give you maybe10 to 15 a night, you kind of
(37:53):
want to hang those playersaround.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
You want to keep
those players around a little
bit I don't know.
I need that consistent scoring.
I need that consistent, youknow, participation, like I need
that.
If you're giving me somethingpositive and it's working and
you have, you know, the crowdbehind you, I need that.
Make it happen.
(38:14):
Yeah, make it happen, butbusiness is business.
I don't know what had to happenfor you know, for them to be
able to wave those two players.
It is what it is, I guess atthis point it is, but I would
have loved to see both of them, especially Odyssey, you know
still be on the team in thesecond half.
Speaker 1 (38:32):
And yeah so, odyssey,
we still pulling for you.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
Hopefully the wings
get together.
You to a long term, for sure.
But speaking of the Wings, though, didn't you say that they
were the most we talked aboutearlier?
Speaker 1 (38:44):
Yeah, the highest
valued team in the WNBA.
So right now, the Dallas Wingsare worth $208 million.
Coming in first place, that'scrazy Over the Las Vegas Aces.
Yeah.
Million dollars coming in firstplace, that's crazy over las
vegas aces, yeah you know.
(39:04):
And they, those areback-to-back champions.
So the dallas wings are worth208 million.
The aces fall number two at 140million, the seattle storm 135
million, the new york Libertysitting at 130 million, and
we'll stop here with the PhoenixMercury at 105 million.
Speaker 2 (39:23):
So that's a, that's a
, um interesting fact.
Speaker 1 (39:27):
What's crazy is two,
I believe two.
I don't know.
I don't know what their titleis, but they actually bought a
state, a 1% state, into theDallas wingsings for $2.8
million, really, yeah, andthat's what boosted their.
That's 1% and that's whatboosted their value to $208
(39:50):
million.
Speaker 2 (39:52):
I wonder what that is
worth.
1% putting that much money in.
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (40:00):
We're not getting
that it's going to be 1% of not,
it's gonna be one percent I'mjust saying yeah, yeah, yeah,
but it was a good investmentyeah, I will say this like but
that all goes to show and I Idon't want to keep harping on
that swings, but I feel like Ihave to because I just feel like
obviously somebody sees youhave a product, they're willing
to put $2.8 million apiece intoit.
(40:23):
Yeah, fans deserve better.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
Fans deserve better
and they show up, man,
especially this season.
Man, come on, and we've been.
You have to keep this, and thenit's going to Dallas.
Speaker 1 (40:38):
Come on Right, even a
bigger city, you have to keep
the fan support, so you have tomake management.
I'm not trying to tell you howto run the team.
I'm just saying you have tomake better decisions.
You want to sell tickets andyou want to win games.
This is nothing against Eureka.
Like I said before, she's great, but she can't do it by herself
(41:02):
and Sato's coming back from aninjury Again.
I didn't watch a lot ofOlympics.
Did you watch any of theGermany games?
Speaker 2 (41:11):
I didn't catch all of
them.
Speaker 1 (41:12):
Well, the reason why
I'm asking is like how did she
look?
Speaker 2 (41:15):
She did.
Okay.
She still was on the sideline, kind of like, you know, laboring
yeah, not laboring, but likethey were icing, they were
heating.
She's not ready, you know, butthey're going to do that.
Absolutely Try to keep it loose, yeah, when you have an injury
like that and you're coming backand you ain't played in a while
.
They're going to treat it.
Speaker 1 (41:34):
Well, which is good.
So we're going to see don't tryto win it this year, don't try
to make the playoffs.
You got two options you takefor Paige, take for Paige
Hashtag.
(41:54):
Take for Paige.
Speaker 2 (41:56):
If they get the
number one pick.
If they do Lose out.
What's the second option?
Speaker 1 (42:06):
Well, I guess, gabby,
you just have to pick her up.
I'm just going to pick up.
Speaker 2 (42:08):
Gabby.
If you're going to pick upGabby, you might as well you
can't tank, then yeah, you justmight as well have kept Odyssey
nah, that's different.
I don't know she wascontributing.
She was and the chemistry wasthere.
The chemistry was there.
I don't know she wascontributing, she was and the
chemistry was there.
Speaker 1 (42:25):
The chemistry was
there You're right, I don't know
.
Speaker 2 (42:30):
I don't know, we'll
see.
Speaker 1 (42:31):
Yeah, let's move on.
Speaker 2 (42:34):
One more thing about
the WNBA.
I was just scrolling on theinternet the Valkyries they
coming.
They are coming and they donealready started selling gear.
Speaker 1 (42:45):
That's what I was
gonna say, yeah, I'm like that
purple and blue, I like it.
Speaker 2 (42:50):
I ain't gonna lie
what I saw.
I saw a hoodie.
I was like okay, well, I justlike repping wmba gear period,
like I mean, that's the thing Ifeel like with the wmba, you can
pretty much wear whatever.
Speaker 1 (43:02):
Yeah, because we're
just trying to promote Right,
absolutely, I agree with that.
Before we get out of the WNBA,though, second half of the
season, let's just do the topfive right now.
New York Liberty they'resitting at number one 22-4.
Connecticut Suns, sitting atnumber two 18-6.
Minnesota Lynx 18-8.
(43:22):
Number four Seattle storm 17and eight in the Las Vegas aces
16, eight veils.
How do you see this?
How do you see the second halfof the season playing out?
Speaker 2 (43:34):
Oh, that's a tough
one.
So I think, oh, I thinkConnecticut gonna be hungry and
and they're going to do theirthing.
Uh, the New York Liberty, andthey're going to do their thing.
The New York Liberty, they justwon tonight.
They blew out, I believe, theSparks.
They may be the team to beat inthe end.
I think they're hooping, but Ithink Connecticut is right
(43:54):
behind them.
It's being competitive.
The Aces, the Aces, uh-oh.
Be honest, I don't know if Isee them winning it this year.
I don't, and I'm an advocatefor the aces, but to me it's
looking like they're slowingdown now.
(44:16):
Asia's still having an mvp year.
Yeah, she gonna do her thing, but to me I think it's starting
to kind of it from what I see.
I think chelsea, which shedidn't play much in the Olympics
, probably for a reason Becauseshe wants to save it all for,
you know, try to get a WNBAchampionship.
But I just I don't know, Idon't know.
I don't know if I see it.
(44:36):
I don't know if I see themwinning this Like.
To me it's either going to bethe New York Liberty and the
Connecticut Sun.
Speaker 1 (44:43):
out of those two, let
me ask you this too do you
think there's been a balance ofpower?
Speaker 2 (44:50):
yes, I think it's
settling out, but we knew that
the New York Liberty was a superteam last season, they were in
the finals, weren't they?
Yes, absolutely but they, coming Stu, got the hoop in the
olympics.
I feel like it's almost anunfair advantage.
I'm just looking at it at thefrom this perspective the ones
(45:13):
who kept playing, kept playingthat's true yeah, they good.
Y'all gotta catch up now, andthat's why I feel like uh
phoenix played the chicago scotttonight.
That's why I feel like you knowthey looked how tonight.
That's why I feel like you knowthey looked how they look
Because Brittany had been in theOlympics, diana, sarasi and
Kalaya.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
Yep Kalaya Copper,
yep.
Speaker 2 (45:36):
And so they've been
still practicing Playing with
better talent Yep.
Playing against better talentYep, absolutely.
And I'm not trying to put theirteammates there, but I'm just
saying, like they kept hooping, you know, I mean, so they ain't
got to warm back up right and soI think that's an advantage.
Almost it is in my eyes youknow, I mean so new york liberty
(45:57):
stew um even connecticut, theconnecticut sun um.
The point guard played AlyssaThomas Yep.
You know now the Aces playedtoo.
You know they had Asian.
Pretty much they started fiveChelsea, you know Kelsey and
Jackie, yeah, yeah, they startedfive, yeah.
(46:18):
Dang, chelsea, kelsey, jackie, Iwas talking about the three.
Yeah, never mind, it don'tmatter, you missed it Anyway.
So their legs are still going, they've been hooping, they've
been getting meaningful bucketsand I just mean, I think that
that means something.
(46:38):
I'm just looking at it fromthat perspective, but we'll see.
I think that Kaylin is ready tocome back and try to snatch the
Rookie of the Year award allthe way from Angel, even though
Angel had a double-doubletonight 11-15.
Speaker 1 (46:54):
Let's go.
Speaker 2 (46:55):
You know it's.
I don't know, we'll see.
It's just one of those thingswhere you really can't predict.
You just got to watch.
Speaker 1 (47:02):
Absolutely.
And so I'm excited about thesecond half of the wmba season
okay, with all that being said, and then we'll move on after
this.
We've seen how the first halfof the season played out, and
you got your predictions for thesecond half.
Who is coming out of the eastand who is coming out of the
(47:24):
West?
Speaker 2 (47:27):
As far as like finals
or what Finals?
Speaker 1 (47:29):
Yeah, like, who's
going to make it?
Who's going to be the last twoteams standing?
Speaker 2 (47:34):
It's going to be New
York, mm-hmm, and I guess it's
going to be the Aces again.
And I forgot to mentionMinnesota too.
They've been hooping too.
Yeah, they have been.
But anyway, new York and theAces.
You think it's going to be arepeat of that?
I think so.
Now I can see Phoenix trying tosnatch it from the Aces.
Speaker 1 (47:57):
Ooh, because they've
been there, copper's, on a
mission, I can see that she'sbeen playing with a chip.
Speaker 2 (48:03):
Yeah, to me, I feel
like I think Chicago and Indiana
is just going to be forentertainment.
Yeah, absolutely, you know ifthey stay in the top eight.
But yeah, I think it's going tobe New York, it's going to be a
rematch of last year's finals.
Speaker 1 (48:19):
I'm taking and, yes,
that would be my second choice,
but I feel like Connecticut isgoing to sneak in there.
They're going to find a way.
I just do.
I feel like they're going tofind a freaking way to get into
the finals and I do believe theAces that Minnesota and Aces
(48:44):
Minnesota's in the West rightShould be.
Yeah, that's going to be atough battle.
Oh, I hate to do this Vance,it's probably going to be the
Lynx.
Speaker 2 (48:59):
You thinking that.
Speaker 1 (49:00):
I think at this point
in time, yes, like the only
reason the Aces are playing.
Well, I would say Asia.
Asia's playing with a I don'tknow she's playing with a chip.
I think she's still pissed offthat she didn't get MVP last
year Because she's playingdifferent.
She's playing outside of hermind, but I just feel like like
(49:27):
I don't know, I don't think therest of the aces are playing at
her level right now they don't.
Speaker 2 (49:32):
I don't think that's
right and that's why I said
they're slowing down, but she'sat the same level, yeah she
hoping, and the links.
Speaker 1 (49:41):
I don't watch a lot
of their games, but the games I
catch.
They just rally.
Yeah, they rally, and, and andNafisa Collier is definitely the
captain, the leader of thatteam.
Speaker 2 (49:50):
Oh yeah, and she.
She also played in the Olympicteam.
Speaker 1 (49:53):
Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 2 (49:54):
And got plenty of
burn.
Speaker 1 (49:56):
Yes, she did and hit
some big shots.
And Kayla McBride, kayla McBuckets I wish I could see my
face Like she hoops, she getsbuckets.
So it's like I think at thisgiven point in time I could see
Connecticut in the links and thefines, just because of what I'm
(50:18):
seeing, just because.
Alyssa Thomas is just.
She's out.
Dejanay Carrington's justhaving a career year.
Speaker 2 (50:24):
Yeah, she's starring
in her role.
Speaker 1 (50:26):
Dejanay Carrington's
just having a career year.
Speaker 2 (50:28):
Yeah, she's starring
in her role.
You know what I mean and that'swhat you have to get players to
understand is like look, youdon't have to be the main scorer
or whatever the case.
It's like, as long as you dowhat you're supposed to do in
your role and you're good at it,you are contributing.
That's how you get playing Tom.
Speaker 1 (50:41):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (50:47):
Let me just let me
stop.
That's how you get playing time, yep, but yeah, yeah, I, I'm
not mad at that.
I'm not mad at that at all.
Connecticut and the links andthe finals I am not mad at that.
I can actually see thathappening as well.
I just think that it's going tobe the liberty and the aces and
I want to be.
And it's so good because we cantalk about this now and see how
it plays out.
Speaker 1 (51:05):
I love that part of
it, but yeah.
Alright, so yeah, we gotta moveon from the WNBA.
Let's go, and I may not beexcited, as I was in years past,
but we gotta do it anyway.
We gotta talk about it anyway,so let's just get to it.
Speaker 2 (51:26):
Beasy, please drop
the beat.
Speaker 1 (51:33):
The NFL is back.
Bills, it's back.
Are you excited?
I'm not.
Speaker 2 (51:43):
Why not?
I'm a Cowboys fan and that'sreally all I got to say.
I don't have much to say aboutit.
I haven't seen a lot of goodthings this past summer, you
know, surrounding them.
I'll let you, you know, go intodetails about it.
But I'm just not excited Like Ihaven't been.
Like looking at my closet like, ooh, I can't wait to wear my.
(52:05):
Ooh, I'm wearing this.
No, normally this is when Istart shaking the wrinkles out,
shaking the wrinkles out of them, shirts and, you know, hanging
them up, but I haven't had thatfeeling.
I'm still going to rock my gear, but yeah, it's not.
(52:27):
I'm not feeling it right now.
Speaker 1 (52:30):
I feel you Because
I'm not either.
I'm not either.
I'm just not ecstatic aboutthis upcoming season.
Like reason, as you said, beingCowboys fans, we really don't
have anything to be excitedabout.
But before we actually get intoour cowboys talk, let's just
kind of talk about overall, justthe league in general.
How do you see the whole leagueshaking up at the end, like,
(52:56):
what do you see?
This is way too earlypredictions, way everything.
We're just spitballing here.
What do do you see this coming?
How this is going to end.
Who is your Super Bowl favorite, right?
Speaker 2 (53:08):
now, right now, I'm
going to just say the Kansas
City Chiefs.
You got the Chiefs, or theNiners.
Speaker 1 (53:15):
Or the Niners.
Speaker 2 (53:16):
That's what I'm going
to say right now.
Speaker 1 (53:20):
I'm going to be a
little daredevil.
I think Houston, okay, I don'tknow why, though I'm going to be
a little daredevil.
Speaker 2 (53:25):
I think Houston.
Okay, I don't know why, thoughI'm not mad at that.
I don't know why I see.
Speaker 1 (53:33):
Houston is and I saw
it last year like Houston is
dangerous.
They got Stephon Diggs.
They acquired Stephon Diggsover the offseason, which is
crazy.
Speaker 2 (53:44):
Houston about to be
lit.
Oh, houston about to be lit.
Speaker 1 (53:46):
Oh, Houston about to
be insane, Stroud, he coming
back from his sophomore year.
He's only going to get better.
You saw what he did his rookieyear.
He's only going to get better.
I think Houston may find a wayto be in the Super Bowl next
year.
In my real, real opinion andHouston is looking kind of good
(54:10):
to me Like Cowboys better get ittogether.
Do you think, though, and we'rejust going to get into the
Cowboys talk.
Do you see the Cowboys winningthe divisionboys talk Do you see
the Cowboys winning thedivision.
(54:31):
No, who do you think is going tobe Philly?
Speaker 2 (54:32):
Yep, Probably, and I
hate to say that Obviously it
makes me sick to my stomach.
I just don't see they.
Who did they just get?
Speaker 1 (54:42):
They just got Saquon
right, yeah, yeah, they did and
they, they don't.
Speaker 2 (54:49):
I just I don't see it
for the cowboys right now.
I'm saying that right now.
Now things could change overthe season and they could prove
me wrong, but right now I seephilly winning the division okay
, let's do this, let's.
Speaker 1 (55:00):
Let's do this, let's
play a game.
I like games.
I want to see if you're goingto change your answer after we
kind of go through the schedule.
Okay, first game of the season.
We got the Browns and we playin Cleveland.
Who wins that game?
Speaker 2 (55:21):
I'll say the Cowboys
will win that game.
Okay.
Speaker 1 (55:24):
That's one win for
the Cowboys.
Keep your own score.
Then the next following week wegot the Saints and Cowboys at
home.
Saints got to come to us,Cowboys Okay.
Then we have the Ravens comingto visit Ravens All right.
Then we got to go see theGiants oh, Cowboys.
(55:44):
Then we got to make a trip tothe Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaker 2 (55:49):
Oh, and they have.
Speaker 1 (55:52):
Russell.
Speaker 2 (55:52):
Wilson and Brandon
Fields right.
Speaker 1 (55:54):
Yeah, but only one
can play all the time.
Speaker 2 (55:57):
I'm going to take the
Cowboys in that game.
Speaker 1 (55:59):
Okay, then the Lions
come to town.
Speaker 2 (56:03):
Detroit, I'm going to
give it to town Detroit, I'm
going to give it to Detroit.
Speaker 1 (56:07):
Then we have to go
visit the 49ers.
Speaker 2 (56:10):
Niners.
Speaker 1 (56:13):
Then we have to go
visit the Falcons Cowboys.
Then the Eagles come to town.
Eagles.
Texans come to town Texans.
We go visit the CommandersCowboys.
The Giants come to town Cowboys.
Then the Bengals come to town.
(56:34):
I'm going to go Cowboys.
We take a trip to visit thePanthers Cowboys.
The Buccaneers come to townCowboys.
We have to go visit the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (56:48):
Eagles.
Speaker 1 (56:49):
And then the
Commanders come to town Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (56:54):
What did you win with
?
So that's 11-6.
Speaker 1 (56:59):
Does that win you the
division?
Speaker 2 (57:02):
No, because I feel
like the Eagles will win more
games than we will.
Speaker 1 (57:07):
That's fair.
Speaker 2 (57:08):
Is that?
Speaker 1 (57:08):
11-6?
Yeah, that's 17.
Speaker 2 (57:13):
Yeah.
So I think the eagles are gonnabe good.
I just don't know why, but I Ifeel like they're gonna be
competitive, I feel like they'regonna be tough to beat um, and
I just think they're gonna win adivision.
I just don't see it right.
I don't see it for us.
We got too much going on rightnow.
We just got way too much goingon, I agree.
(57:33):
Agree.
He's injured, ain't he Rightnow?
And he's not, you know.
And then you got CeeDee.
He's holding out.
You know what I mean.
We got Zeke back, but Zekeain't really making no noise
like that, no, and we lost somepeople.
We lost somebody to injuryalready, like for the season,
like it's just not looking goodfor us.
(57:55):
And I want to say that, likelast year, I felt it.
I felt like, nah, I don't know, but it also was like, you know,
but we could, because I had usgoing last year, I had us going
like 13 and 4, I think, and um,and we did, but we just fumbled
in the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (58:15):
No pun intended yeah.
Speaker 2 (58:17):
And so Fumbled hard.
But this year I just don't seeit at all.
Speaker 1 (58:22):
I'm with you.
I'm not mad.
I'm with you.
I don't see it because of whathappened in the playoffs Mm-hmm,
like, what a letdown, and we'vealready rehashed it, so I'm not
gonna even go through it.
But that puts me in theposition where I feel the way I
(58:42):
feel right now, where I justdon't care.
I just I just don't care.
Now I'm gonna watch the games, because I'm just a stupid loyal
cowboy fan.
But as far as the emotion, I Iliterally cannot give it and I
know I've always, I've beensaying it.
I just literally cannot givethat emotion right now.
Because why, why?
(59:03):
And then then you got your dumbass owner, jerry jones,
refusing to pay cee Lamb forwhatever god dang me reason.
I don't know, I need to be inthose meetings.
Okay, no, I feel you, because Ineed to know what is being
discussed.
I get it.
(59:26):
Ceedee Lamb is wanting to getJustin Jefferson money.
Right now Justin Jefferson isgetting four years for 140
million dollars, which isprobably probably like 35
million dollars a year.
Again we're just having chitchat.
Is cd lamb deserving of justinjefferson money?
Speaker 2 (59:51):
I can, okay, so I can
see CD making like $20 to $25
million a year Somewhere aroundthat range $10 million less than
Jay Jettis.
And it's not even a not though,Because you're still getting
$20 million a year.
It's not a not.
Speaker 1 (01:00:09):
But he is arguably
top three.
Yeah, he is.
He is Okay, so if Justin isgetting $35, then okay, he is,
he is Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:00:15):
So if Justin is
getting 35, then okay, cd can
get 30.
I can see that, but Jerry, forsome reason, is refusing to pay
him.
So we have to figure out whatworks.
Speaker 1 (01:00:25):
Okay, you're going to
have to let somebody go, and
that's the thing.
That's what I really want toget into.
It got to be that.
And if F all the other stuff, let's talk about this for real.
If we give CD Lam 35 plusmillion a year, somebody's not
(01:00:45):
getting paid.
It's either gonna be MichaelParsons or it's gonna be Dak.
Speaker 2 (01:00:51):
Let's get rid of Dak
let's just get rid of Dak.
Let's just get rid of him.
I've given my all to Dak.
I've believed in him.
You know I have been frustratedwith him.
Then I believed in him againand by numbers, by paper, he's
(01:01:13):
one of the best quarterbacks inthe league.
Absolutely he is, but when youwatch, that's why numbers are
starting not to mean much to mein certain sports, in certain
players.
Because when you don't do whatI need you to do or what your
fans need you to do, what yourorganization needs you to do,
(01:01:40):
you don't come up in the bigmoments.
And we've seen it time aftertime.
And I'm not saying like I'mgiving up on that right now
because obviously he's going tobe our quarterback, right, but I
would much rather, if we haveto get rid of somebody, it would
be that dakota rain, dakotaRain, prescott, prescott, that's
who I would.
You can find you a quarterback, sure, bring Kaepernick, I don't
(01:02:04):
care, do what you gotta do, butif somebody gotta get rid of,
it's gonna be that okay and see,I agree with you and the reason
why I agree with you.
Speaker 1 (01:02:19):
You're singing a
different tone of this.
You're singing a different tonemaybe, but the only reason why
I'm saying that?
Because I just, I just rememberin 2016 now it's been some
years and you can debate me onthat, it's okay, yeah you were
so ready to get rid of Tony Romo, you ground Dak the the
(01:02:40):
becoming he was.
I told y'all to wait, slow down.
I told y'all to slow down Isaid wait, let the man develop
he was, though he developed.
Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
Come on, we've seen
it with our eyes.
Like I said, his numbers don'tlie.
Speaker 1 (01:02:55):
We've had some really
good wins, but we've also seen
that he has never risen up inthe moments where it mattered.
Speaker 2 (01:03:04):
He has never, never I
can't justify the time we beat
tampa bay.
Justify the time we beat TampaBay Tom Brady True when he was
about to retire.
Speaker 1 (01:03:19):
But yeah, I beat the
shade.
Okay, other than that, like hehas never, dude you, let
freaking Jordan love march intoyour stadium and made you look
(01:03:40):
like a JV team.
The game was over in the Okay.
I'm sorry I am not talkingabout the playoffs anymore, but
this is why I'm not excitedabout this season.
I can't justify giving him $60million a year.
Speaker 2 (01:03:55):
It ain't my money.
Speaker 1 (01:03:56):
But I can't stand
behind an organization that is
willing to give somebody $60freaking million a year that has
not proven a damn thing.
You want a playoff game what'sthat new?
Give me my money Yay, give memy money.
You know what I I'm saying?
You want a playoff game yayokay 60 million.
Speaker 2 (01:04:19):
You know the playoff
game to get quiet like if we was
on video.
Speaker 1 (01:04:27):
Like you know, I'm
saying so I can't.
Jerry, I don't know what you'redoing with cd lamb.
I don't know what you're doingwith CeeDee Lamb.
I don't know what kind of gameweird, kind of weird game you're
playing with him.
Give him his bread.
Give him his bread.
He does definitely deserve his$35 or whatever million dollars,
because who else is out there, jerry?
Speaker 2 (01:04:50):
is a that guy.
Speaker 1 (01:04:51):
He is a that guy, and
you know what it reminds me of.
Ceedee Lamb is all but 22, 23years old, dak is 30, 31.
Speaker 2 (01:05:02):
You know what it
reminds me of what?
Jerry was also a Jason Garrettguy, and we see.
You know, when he's loyal tosomebody, he's loyal to them,
and it could be to the detrimentof the organization.
You know, when he's loyal tosomebody, he's loyal to them,
and it could be to the detrimentof the organization it
definitely is.
Speaker 1 (01:05:22):
Yeah, and you bring
up a valid point.
And that is the problem.
This is why the cowboys arestuck in this cycle of
mediocrity.
How about I say that right, like, that's where we are.
We're stuck on just being goodenough.
(01:05:45):
We can't get a viable pickbecause we're good enough.
We'll make the playoffs, we maywin a playoff game, so we can't
pick in the lottery, we can'tgo grab us a top-tier
quarterback because we're justgood enough.
(01:06:08):
There was somebody had proposeda question online like should
you just trade Micah and thenjust get draft capital?
I hated that idea.
I thought that was stupid.
But do you, if we're rebuildingeven though though they never
(01:06:32):
said we were rebuilding, butit's obviously very freaking
clear that we're rebuilding Doyou trade Micah for draft
capital?
Speaker 2 (01:06:44):
We can't get rid of
Micah man.
Speaker 1 (01:06:48):
So I mean you can't
keep all three.
I know you said Dak got to go.
Speaker 2 (01:06:53):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (01:06:54):
Who's your
quarterback?
We got to find one.
Are you in a Trey Lance?
Speaker 2 (01:06:58):
No, because I mean
well, maybe, maybe, or if we can
get one off the street, we'llbe all right, but I would much
rather have somebody now off thestreet.
Speaker 1 (01:07:09):
Than Dak.
Speaker 2 (01:07:10):
No, I'm playing.
Speaker 1 (01:07:12):
No, I'm playing, no,
I'm playing, no, I'm playing.
Speaker 2 (01:07:13):
but that's how
serious I am when I say like I
would much rather get rid of himthan anybody else.
You know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:07:21):
I know and I get it.
I just thought that was aninteresting thing about the
Micah and draft pace.
Like truly, like.
I said when I first I'm likeman, this is dumb as hell.
But I was like what I'm like?
Nah, our defense, like I nevereven cared about defense until
micah came, because michael waslike fun on defense.
Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
You know what?
Speaker 1 (01:07:41):
I mean, let me ask
you one more this before we get
out of here is mike mccarthy onthe hot seat this season?
Speaker 2 (01:07:48):
yeah, of course, yes
you don't, you don't do, you
don't take care of business thisseason.
You gone.
Speaker 1 (01:07:53):
So what is it?
So let's layer it.
Is it Super Bowl or bust, orplayoff win or bust?
Speaker 2 (01:07:59):
What is it?
You at least got to go tworounds deep or bust.
Speaker 1 (01:08:04):
That's fair.
Speaker 2 (01:08:05):
Two rounds deep or
bust.
And that's sad because I wantus to win a Super Bowl, but two
rounds deep or bust, or bust.
Speaker 1 (01:08:14):
So Mike McCarthy's
done.
Speaker 2 (01:08:16):
If he doesn't go two
rounds he's done.
Speaker 1 (01:08:19):
Yes, Is Bill Parcells
, not Bill Parcells.
I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (01:08:22):
Bill.
Speaker 1 (01:08:23):
Belichick is he in.
Speaker 2 (01:08:26):
Bill, yeah, I can see
that.
I can see that happening.
Should have been this yearanyway, but yeah, I can see that
happening.
Speaker 1 (01:08:33):
It's kind of hard.
I mean, is mike mccarthy theproblem?
Speaker 2 (01:08:37):
I'm not saying he's
the problem, but sometimes you
do need different coaches tobring things out of you that you
didn't know you had.
Sometimes a change is good,that's.
You may have won with aaronrogers back, you know, in in
green bay, but maybe this justain't the system or just the
organization you know for youRight.
But it's a combination ofthings Makes sense.
(01:09:01):
It's going to be a long season,vils.
Speaker 1 (01:09:06):
Yeah, long season,
and I'm not mad at CD Land for
holding out Get your money, itsucks.
I hope that a resolution can beresolved soon.
Uh, like I said, I'm stepping110 behind veils, like if
somebody gotta go, that we thankyou, we appreciate you for all
(01:09:31):
that you have done, but therecomes a point in time where you
just gotta say goodbye and I'llbe okay with that.
You never can say no.
But seriously, though, like I'mnot trading micah, I I'm not
(01:09:53):
getting rid of CeeDee Lamb.
Those are young pieces that you, unfortunately, you haven't
proven enough.
Like you've gotten us to wherewe can succeed, but you haven't
taken us over the hump, andthat's the thing.
We have not gotten over thehump.
Yep, we have not gotten overthe hump.
(01:10:14):
And if you're demanding $65million or $60 million, I cannot
justify that.
I don't sign the check.
It ain't my money.
I know all of that, but I can't, I'm not willing.
Let me tell you this If theCowboys are willing to part with
(01:10:37):
CeeDee Lamb, to try to signthat to 60 something million
dollars, I will take my fandomdown 35.
I will be a Houston Texas fan.
Uh oh, I wouldn't be able to doit anymore because and I'm
probably lying I am probablylying you are.
I wanted to sound believable, but it's okay that don't make
any sense, but we're gonna getout of here man?
Speaker 2 (01:10:54):
I am probably not,
you are I wanted it to sound
believable, but it's okay, butit's colors.
Speaker 1 (01:10:56):
That don't make any
sense.
But, we're going to get out ofhere man Long episode.
Have fun.
I got who I said I had.
At the end I had.
We didn't do Super Bowlprediction, did we?
We did, damn.
Speaker 2 (01:11:14):
I don't remember that
Who'd you say you had Kansas
City Chiefs winning.
Speaker 1 (01:11:17):
All of it, who was
coming out of the NFC?
Oh, you didn't have that.
Okay, Kansas City.
My prediction I could see theseChiefs going again, but for
some reason, I don't even knowwhy, and it's really left field.
I can see the Detroit Lions.
(01:11:39):
I can see the Detroit Lionswinning the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (01:11:45):
Like I said before,
it's so great that we get to see
yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:11:51):
