Welcome to Masturbation Mondaywith me, annette Benedetti, your
host for Locker Room Talk andChats.
This is your invitation to joinme for coffee in bed and a
candid conversation about themasturbation practice I'm
developing to support my mental, physical and emotional health
and help manifest my dreams.
(00:20):
Masturbation Monday is a guideto self-pleasure, better sex and
using the power of the pussy toopen new doors to a better life
.
Today's Masturbation Mondaytopic is the top 10 most common
(00:41):
kinks.
We are halfway throughKinktober and you might be
surprised to find out that whatgets you off isn't all that
uncommon, from the mild to thewild.
I'm going to be pulling backthe curtain on the top 10 most
common kinks and I'm going to bespicing it up with a little
science-backed research.
Hold on to your floggersbecause I'll be dropping some
(01:02):
fun, funny and sometimesjaw-dropping facts along the way
.
So let's get into thenitty-gritty of what makes
people tick in the bedroom.
Cheers.
Okay, let's dive in.
The most common kink is BDSM,which should be no surprise to
anyone.
It stands for bondage,dominance, discipline,
(01:27):
submission, sadism and masochism, or any combination of the
above.
One of the most popular kinks, bdsm, is all about trust,
control and play, and researchshows that about 47% of people
have fantasized about being tiedup.
A little surprising fun factresearch shows that BDSM
(01:50):
practitioners actually havelower levels of stress and
better communication skills thantheir vanilla counterparts.
Perhaps all of those safe wordsare paying off.
Another kink or fetish thatranks in our top 10 most common
kinks is the foot fetish.
It is a foot-related desirethat many people have.
(02:13):
In fact, one in seven peopleadmit to having some level of
foot-related desire and about10% of the population indulges
in some form of foot fetishism.
Interestingly, according toneuroscientists, the areas in
our brain that control our feetand our sexual desire are
(02:35):
located right next to each other.
Is it a coincidence?
I think not.
No wonder so many people findthose toes irresistible.
Third on my list of the top 10most popular kinks is cuckolding
, and cuckolding is actually atopic that many of you, my dear
listeners, ask me about.
(02:56):
One of the most taboo butcommon kinks, cuckolding,
involves watching your partnerwith someone else.
About 58% of men and 33% ofwomen have fantasized about it.
What's really wild is thatthere are several studies that
show that participating incuckolding actually strengthens
(03:16):
relationships by deepening trustand improving communication
skills between couples.
So I guess, as it turns out,the green-eyed monster isn't as
scary and awful as we've allthought.
Another super common kink isexhibitionism, which is enjoying
being watched while beingintimate or having sex or doing
(03:39):
sexy sexual things.
Around 35% of people admit toenjoying and getting off on
being watched while doing thedirty.
Not so surprising is that theresearch shows that
exhibitionism is actually farmore common among men than women
.
But here's a fun factExhibitionists have been found
(04:01):
to have higher self-esteem andhigher levels of confidence, and
they are more likely to pursueleadership roles in the
workplace.
So perhaps flashing isn't justabout thrill-seeking, it's about
wanting to own the spotlight.
Now, another common kink that isoften mistimed understood is
(04:23):
being a furry, or the furrycommunity, or furries, if you
will.
Furries are people who are intoanthropomorphic animal costumes
.
Now, it may sound niche, butresearch shows that over 30% of
people admit to fantasizingabout being a furry at some
point in time.
A 2019 survey found that, whileonly 15-25% of people are into
(04:48):
it for sexual stuff, thecommunity itself is thriving.
According to members of thefurries who participated in
these surveys, it's less aboutgetting frisky in a fox costume
and more about fantasy andcommunity and role playing.
Think of it as a comic con withan animal twist, if you will,
(05:10):
grr.
The sixth kink on my list isactually relatively new to me.
It's called Spl splashing, andit's all about wet and messy
play.
Splashing is exactly what thename sounds like.
It's all about covering oneselfor somebody else in food or
liquid or basically anythingmessy.
Think of whipped cream, chocolate syrup or jello
(05:31):
Shockingly splashing, taps intothe senses in a really primal
way.
Jello Shockingly splashing tapsinto the senses in a really
primal way.
And research on sensory playshows that getting messy
activates both pleasure andcreativity.
And let's be honest, whodoesn't like playing with their
food every now and again?
Coming in at number seven on mylist of the top 10 most common
kinks is sensory deprivation.
(05:54):
A sensory deprivation kink caninclude anything like blindfolds
, earplugs or anything thatdeprives the senses and
heightens sensation, and in thisheightened sensation, sex can
become even more intense.
Over 40% of people enjoy or areinto or desire some sort of
(06:20):
sensory deprivation during theirintimate encounters.
What's a little bit surprisingis that sensory deprivation has
actually been shown to increasethe release of dopamine in the
brain, which is the samefeel-good chemical that's
released when you're eatingchocolate or you win a prize or
you swipe right on that hotmatch you are hoping to make.
(06:43):
Another slightly surprising butvery common kink is medical play
.
This kink involves role-playingscenes that mimic medical
procedures or exams, and, whileit may seem unusual, it's more
about the power play andvulnerability than it is about
actually playing doctor.
Research has shown that peoplewho participate in medical play
(07:04):
oftentimes do it to relinquishcontrol and feel taken care of,
albeit in a very intimate, intimate kind of setting.
Another kink that is very, veryintimate is age play.
Now, if you want a full insidelook at age play and why people
participate in it, I have a fullpodcast episode on it with an
(07:26):
expert in the area, miss Chris, and I'll make sure to include
that in the links below thisepisode.
But, contrary to popular belief, age play doesn't always
include sexual activity.
Some people just enjoy dressingup or acting like a younger
version of themselves, and then,on the other side of things,
(07:48):
there are people who want totake on a nurturing role.
It's not about actual children.
It's about regressing to a morecarefree or innocent frame of
mind or taking on the role andmindset of a caregiver, which
can be especially common forpeople who are unable to have
children or who just haven't hadthe opportunity to be in a
(08:10):
caregiver role.
According to research, manycouples actually feel closer and
more bonded after participatingin this kind of role reversal,
because it allows them to bevulnerable with each other in a
new and different kind of way.
And finally, coming in at number10, the last kink on my list of
the top 10 most common kinks isthe balloon fetish, or lunars.
(08:35):
Yes, you heard it right.
There are some people who arejust really, really, really into
balloons.
Known as lunars, theseindividuals find balloons to be
a great source of arousal.
For some, it's the excitementof blowing up the balloons.
For others, it is the suspenseof them popping that turns them
(08:57):
on.
But research shows that it'sthe unpredictability of balloons
that people find exciting andarousing.
And hey, with 7.5 billionpeople on the earth, it's nice
to know that there's a kink foreveryone, even people who love
balloons.
Kinks are diverse, quirky andmore common than most people
(09:18):
realize.
Our desires are as unique as weare, and science backs up the
fact that expressing them in ahealthy, consensual way is good
for both our mental and physicalhealth.
So, whether you are into BDSMor balloons, foot fetishes or
furries.
Know that you are not alone inyour desires and that there is
(09:41):
likely some research out thereto back up why you are into what
you are into.
